i think the biggest issue with guard that is the root cause of guards being “op” is simply their access to unblock-able cc.

orignally anet put it in to combat tank mesmers and other bunkery things although considering those have been nerfed to nothingness its probably a good idea to tone it down now.

f1 and longbow 3 in combination with test of faith trap is just ridiculous.
it makes the playstyle of a meta guardian boil down to running in, place test of faith trap(s)+spam cc and burst= gg.

a slight nerf to add a little viable defense against low cd cc i think would more or less fix the issue.

f1 being nerfed so the projectile is blockable would be a good fix to start with (after all after it lands you can still pull blocking and evading enemies so it makes no sense for the projectile itself to be unblock-able as well. in addition the projectile has very little telegraph and moves ridiculously fast. a nerf would make the guardian play style less Spamy and more timed and refined for effectiveness.

other nerfs in addition would probably be reducing the speed of f1 projectile. adding a good telegraph. and perhaps increasing the cd of longbow 3 or making that aoe projectile blockable

Legendary Gear and upgrades question.

seeing as legendary armor is in the near future as anet releases more additions to raids.
making the legendary armor collection more and more possible to craft that sweet legendary gear.

but aside from the fact its ascended and its able to change its stat like legendary weapons.

It has come to my attention that even if you can change your stats the upgrade that you have stored might not be optimal for the current stat change.

so if you run a power oriented rune and then switch to condie. your kinda out of luck and would then have to replace it. no doubt costing you a good sum of gold over a period of time. or it would force you too choose a jack of all trades rune that can be decent in most situations.

so my question is this
will legendary armor (and weapons) be able to change their upgrade with convenience just like they do their stat change

how this could be done is 2 ways that i know of.
1) make it so that all legendary gear can simply switch to any upgrade in the game allowing for the perfect convenience.

less convenient but still needed IMO V
2) make it so all legendary gear can “pop out” its upgrade. thereby allowing for easy switching assuming you got the upgrades stored in your bags

Oh boy, here we go again with the “entitlement complex” accusations. No one is asking for free skins. I earned a bunch of skins and items in the game before the release of HoT. For example, I worked for the selfless potion which was part of the Lion’s arch events. It wasn’t given to me but it had a reasonable way to achieve it.

Nightfury and Winter’s Presence requirements are just ridiculous.

i actually farmed for the selfless and selfish potions…..many a pile of rock farmed over 2 weeks.

But their existance doesn’t make it any less fun for those who can’t get the item (unless you have an entitlement complex like many have these days). Us normal people aren’t SUPPOSED to be able to go for these ultra rare items. No one said you had to get the shoulders, it is a premium item there for the few players will/able to get it, and good for them. The rest of us casual players should be content with all the other cool stuff in the event rather than fixating on the one thing we can’t have.
This entitlement complex people have developed is ridiculous, just because it exists in the game doesn’t mean you deserve it without earning it. Many items in the game many of us will never have because we will never earn them, but why take that away from those who can?

you did not read the part where i said “during limited time events”

its fine if expensive items are added that some players if they have the money can get in a day. however the availability of that item needs to exist forever so that players that cant get it instantly are not frustrated at what they need to do in such a short window of time.

for example if the legendary weapon twilight was ONLY available for 2 weeks. say at the start of the first Halloween event. and only a few select rich people were able to get that item. how would you feel?
it took me over a year to get my twilight yet i know some people that have gotten a twilight in a single day because they felt like dropping hundreds of dollars on gems because they felt like it.
it increases the gap between the player base when only the rich can get the exclusive items rather than everyone in their own time.
as that favors a minority of the player base in terms of whats fun for who.

so any single exclusive limited time item thats not sellable should be made for the majority of the active loyal player base.

and if a difficult item is added for the rich to get that item needs to be made available through the extensive passage of time for everyone else that wants it.

Great post. glad we have someone like you in our community.
overall this entire fiasco of hate and frustration is totally the result of bad game design.

even more evident during these limited time holiday events in which the players are supposed to be enjoying the limited time availability of the activities, given a exclusive item for being a active player during the event, and overall enjoy the whole vibe of the thing.

overall this winters-day and the last Halloween have been the worst in game holiday events in the history of gw2 in recent memory
in halloweens case the event was paled as key activities were removed and the entire thing was catered to the minority of the rich playerbase.

ideally a holiday event is supposed to be a special entertaining time for players having access to activities they normally don’t have access to and or have looked forward too as well as unique rewards which should be available to average players that are actively and naturally participating in the event.
so that they can enjoy the event if active enough get a exclusive item as a reward for being a active player of gw2.

this game does not need ultra rare hard to get items during limited time events. it does not make the game fun for anyone but game whales (rl rich players) and in game economy sharks.

if any item is added that’s ultra rare or hard to get it should not be during these holiday events. or made a limited time exclusive item. it just frustrates people and ruins the spirit of the holiday as when they were once taking their time and enjoying their holiday they feel rushed to get a cool limited time item and then frustrated when they realize the ridiculous nature in getting the items.

10 thousand winters-day alcoholic drinks ? rounding to 500-800 gold in total if you purchased all of them off the tp? due to the current demand and drop rate
or 41-85 HOURS of non stop jumping puzzle madness for the presents in order to get the drinks? how is that fun for the majority of the loyal gw2 player base?

for the past couple of Halloweens there was a activity called “lunatic inquisition”

which was really the fun of the event aside from grinding the other achievement and candy corn stuff.

i was really surprised to find no mention of it and no way to get to it this year…

hello everyone.

my topic mainly revolves around some skill functionality and/or the potential issues of skill functionality vs action camera functionality in regards to movement functionality

at 45:50 the dev mentions feedom of mobility
and by the looks of it
so id assume this would mean that you can press the s key (back as default) and start running facing the opposite direction your camera is aiming while currently it would make you walk backwards while facing the direction your camera is aiming (not including free cam option)

for the longest time playing this game i have noticed several clunky issues regarding some of the skills which require facing the target.

and considering that we are so close to oct 23rd and the release of hot and this camera mode i cant help but think this is a good time to fix some of the skill issues that ive come across that might perhaps get in the way of the smoothness off the action camera in regards to combat movement and skill activation fluidity.

in other words you can run freely with the action combat mode in any direction while still aiming in a certain direction but i fear that for specific skills that require you to have target for example they will cause this to be clunky.

i know that for some skills it will cause you to stop running backwards and instead walk backwards while channeling said skills. (which i hope it has this feature) but i think that most likely the game wont know which skills to use this for and which to not. for example walk backward firing at the target when using ranger longbow (which all require you to face the target to use correctly) but not for ranger great-sword 4 which does not require you to face the target as you block which i fear it will do anyway.

but even if it wont have these issues i think alot of us gw2 players have been suffering from the issues that i am about to bring up for over 3 years, and i think this game can benefit from the fixing of them greatly in terms of fluidity, combat balance, and overall a more fun experience when playing gw2.

nothing too specific however. the base issue that i have found is regards to 2 types of skills. both of which require facing the target. which may get in the way when trying to run backwards while trying to use certain target facing requiring skills.

1) the first type are skills that require you to face the target, and channel for a duration before a effect occurs.
A good example is Mesmer great-sword skill #2 “Mirror blade”

the issue with these types of skills is that f you have a target yet are facing the wrong direction it will either stop you from casting it, put it on a 3 sec “interrupt” cd, or the entire Cool down of the skill. all without even allowing you to begin channeling the skill.
mirror blade in this case goes on a 3sec cd if you attempt this. but whats odd is that you can activate this skill without having a target and throw the projectile at the end of the channel and still have the ability to hit something…. in addition if you do have a target you can begin casting it…..do a 360 during the cast…and then if you are facing the target at the end of the cast activate the effect (in this case throw a projectile).

in the last case if you start the cast facing the target and then do a 180 facing the wrong direction you will go through the entire channel and then nothing will happen no projectile will fire and the skill will go on the full cd.
(which is how it should be, although perhaps depending on the skill it could be changed so you use the skill as if you don’t have a target? in this case that would be throwing the projectile where your aiming at the end of the Chanel.)

the clunkyness comes from the inability to being able to “precast” these skills while facing away from the target. in this case that would be running away from the target while channeling mirror blade and then turning around at the last split second to throw the mirror blade (which would be epic!).

in addition there is also a balance issue with these type of skills in that if your fighting a thief Mesmer or really anyone that knows how to get behind you WHILE your moving (so you cant automatically keep facing the target) so you don’t have the chance to face the target again before the end of the cast comes about.
which imo would add more depth to combat and make things tons less clunky.
“he teleports behind him just before he starts channeling illusionary wave so he is out of his aim BUT Oh WAIT the mesmer turns just in time and wacks him in the face with it!. what a play!.” stuff like that in which its less clunky and adds more interesting content.

2) the 2nd type of skill although being very similar to the first are skills who’s effect activates once or multiple times during the cast.
a good example for this case is necro’s axe skill #2 Ghastly claws.

the issue with these types of skills in regard to direction facing in relation to the target is similar to mirror blade in that it will not activate if not facing the selected target, go on a 3sec cd, or the entire skill cd.
in addition if you do have a target and are facing the right direction at the start of the cast BUT either you start facing the wrong direction or your target moves so your facing the wrong direction the skill will immediately go on its full cd.

the fix for this would be to not stop the channel of channeled skills such as this when facing the wrong direction but simply make it so that as long as the caster if facing the wrong direction the skill has no effect UNTIL he begins facing the target in which case its effect will begin procking again for the rest of the duration.

in addition to letting these types of skills be “precast” by not putting the skill on cd immediately on skill activation if facing the wrong direction.

SO OVERALL
for any skill that requires a target it would be nice if
1) the channel can be activated while not facing the target allowing for precast and smoother combat.
2) for the 2nd type of skills that i listed it would be great if while channeling in the wrong direction the skill effect is void but when facing the target its effect resumes procking its effect for its remaining duration.

overall these simple changes would make combat soooo much smoother and allow some nicer plays.

and perhaps help with some action camera mode functionality issues in the future as well?

  • Auras now grant attack bonuses when striking foes rather than when being struck by a foe; every aura-specific on-hit effect has an internal cooldown of 1 s per target; auras do not stack in intensity nor in duration (new auras of the same type will overwrite old ones).
  • These on-hit effects have a maximum range of 600 (if a player has an aura and successfully strikes a target that is outside of 600 range, no aura effect will be applied to that target). The only exceptions to this rule are magnetic aura and the new fire aura.

  • Your attacks confuse foes. If you successfully evade or block an attack while under the effects of chaos armor, you gain health and fury. (Cannot gain health and fury more than once within the interval; cannot inflict confusion more than once within the interval per target)

  • Chaos armor duration increased from 3 s to 4 s.

  • Stealth duration reduced from 3 s to 2 s.
  • Now also grant super speed (1½ s) when blasted.

  • Now grant light auras (3 s; Radius: 240; Number of allies: 5)

  • Swiftness removed from game.
  • Player base speed increased by 25%.
  • Lightning field blasts now grant super speed (4 s).

probably the best ideas when it comes to combo balance ive seen in a long time.
there are several issues and stuff i do not agree with. however for the most part i like the feel of it. making all fields useful.

its a particle effect glitch from channeling moa morph.

ive seen similar things before. such as ranger greatsword bird flapping away constantly in the chest of a ranger….“he is bird heart spirit master” __

so sorry there is no skin that you can attain. and most likely if you attain the particle glitch it will only last for so long as your are in the instance and most likely other people will be able to c it and not you.

great ideas.
however i like how inspiration synergies with other trait lines. signets with domination.
mantras with dueling. and many others.

the issue however is inspiraiton is suposed to be mesmers SUPPORT! traitline. and i think we all can agree…..it sucks at that…

i would very much like it if it was slightly buffed and tweaked so we actually CAN support our teammates with it.

changes i think this trait line needs going down the list

menders purity -perfect
medics feedback-perfect
persisting images-NEEDS A REVAMP (right now you only take this when your not rezzing teamates or using mantras….its just leftover)
restorative mantas: – i think this could be changed and buffed so that it activates a aoe mantra heal active known as “power return” which would synergies more with mantra traits

inspiring distortion-this trait is great however i wish the cd was a little less. 5 seconds is a little much. i personally think it should have no cd and apply all distortion the mesmer aplies to itself in its current very small aoe thus allowing traited signet mesmers to support their allies by sacrificing their cd’s to stack a few seconds of distortion in a very small aoe.

protected phantasms – a solid trait
restorative illusions-this trait right now simple NEEEDS to be 600 radius AOE. at least in the condition removal.
wardens feedback-solid trait however. non-traited-focus temporal curtain (skill 4) should block projectiles baseline and then reflect when taking this trait.

in addition for all reflects in general the functionality HAS TO BE CHANGED so that the dmg inflicted from a reflected projectile counts as a third party dmg source(such as phantasms). as it is absolutly rediculose that the stealthed owner of a reflection effect will be reveled for reflecting a attack that originated from a opponent. its their projectile not ours so why are we revealed???

healing prism – kill this trait with fire from hell. its absolutely uselesssssss!

imo it should be replaced with illusinary inspiration from grandmaster but changed so it activates after using a healing skill (and also fixed so it does not Chanel getting in our way)
this way any mesmer that takes inspiration will be able to use the inspiration siget basline…making us actually “inspire” our allies. also makes it easier to time around its 20 sec internal cd if its on a heal longer than 20 sec

mental defense-solid trait. no change needed

temportal enchanter- this one is a little tricky. its ok on some skills but for the most part its very hard to use for some skills. overall i think it should be on entering a glamour field.

in addition i think that time warp should be changed to manipulation and mass invis changed to be a glamour. right now reflect on a stealth skill is just game breaking.

would be nice to have reflect on time warp cast (perhaps pulse?) in addition to reduced cd.
and for mass invis increased stealth duration and super speed and resistance for all 10 allies effected on cast. far better

as for the last grandmaster trait. perhaps a trait like "heal allies when you apply a boon to them. 100 healing. allowing amazing signet of inspiration trait combos.

all this = support mesmer

i think the reason anet decided to make sol (signet of illusions) not effect cs(Continuum split) was simply because they feared that in combination with mimic(2 sol in a row)

resulting in insane plays such as CS>time warp*time reverts*>mimic >signet of illusions (no cd) >CS >2nd time warp>2nd signet of illusions>CS>3rd time warp.

time reverts mimic is on cd and signet of illusions is on cd. but time warp is off cd meaning you can place 4 time warps in a row.
(however considering the low cd of signet of illusions and mimic in comparison to time warp or…moa morph would be more effective to not use)

^ this is just the elite plays btw. and does not take in to consideration how much dps this would give to mesmers being able to have 2-3 shatter combos one after another. complete 2-3 phantasm uptime. and other effects that just leaves it to the imagination.

overall sol effecting CS would be amazing. i beleve the name for this type of play style would be “elite mancer”. “gravity mancer”. “time mancer” …..and my personal favorite.
if using moa morph> “Moa mancer”

to be perfectly honest this idea is insane and its understandable why anet prevented it….
however this build lacks tons of utility meaning for someone with medium skill could easily take out this build by simply avoiding the massive cd elites mesmer has 1-2 times. they would have at most 1 stun break. so if you catch them before they use CS they are DEAD.

kinda sad anet did not make the change after we were able to test it…even if it was for one week…..

the Moa feathers in the air would be so….sniff….beautiful

Just swap the 2s reflection with the 1s distortion from Blurred Inscriptions. It would fix this problem and make Blurred Inscriptions more worthwhile.

No. The best solution is very simple

Make reflects count as a exterior source of dmg such as phantasms. This way it does not reveal us.
Which makes sense as it is THEIR projectile. Not ours. THEIR attack. OUR defence.
We should not be revealed for protecting ourself from a enemy attack by reflecting their attack back at them….
Although it would be funny if you could reveal someone by reflecting the attack of a stealthed opponent back at them

Also. I like the idea of mass invis as a glamor and time warp as a manipulation.
Mass invis group 1200 range super speed AND resistance on a 90 sec cd would be nice.
And reduce cd on time warp with TEAM reflects on cast would be very juicy.
Absolutely amazing if it’s team reflects every pulse (mirror duration is 3 sec and does not stack so really it will pulse every 3 sec unless you don’t have any mirror effect)

It makes no sense for a reflected ATTACK that originated as a enemy attack to reveal us.
Shouldn’t it count as them dealing dmg to themselves?

Which btw logic would dictate that if they were stealthed, Fired a projectile, and had that projectile reflected back At them dealing dmg then they would logically reveal themselves.

Jokes aside

This issues Makes using master of minupulation with mass invis a joke (reflect on manipulation skill use)

currently you can grab restoration illusions and mental defence which is a questionable amount of passive sustain. in addition restorative illusions is kind of the most useful trait in the trait line so your not gonna grab the focus trait or the protected phantasms. which begs the question of why it was merged to be super effective with shattered conditions and then moved down a tier?

Pretty sure restorative illusions only removes 1 condition per shatter now, not 1 per clone per shatter.

it removes 1 per clone + heals. ive tested it with a good condie friend of mine. also works with the base illusionary persona giving a max 4 condie removal per shatter…..

why is this master and not grandmaster?

so far inspiration is bugging me…currently the first trait menders purity is kinda buggy (if running mantra of recovery it will prock once without HM and only twice max with HM. HM=3mantra chargetrait)

the third minor trait is kinda meh (although it was op without the cd HAHA!) mainly because in terms of hps its crap. maybe reduce the cd to 5s? or increase the healing? or remove the trait and give us back the phantasms give us regen?…i dont know it just needs work.

lastly but most importantly 2 traits are in the wrong area in terms of diversity and balance.

i think restorative illusions should be moved up a tier back to grandmaster and either temporal enchanter or illusionary inspiration should be moved down a tier. would be more balanced and open up more viable options.

currently in this new trait system and the new meta of things there are tons of buggs and balance issues such as trait placement and number scaling and polish…..so many issues

I was just going over the new specialization traits on dulphy and I just could not help but be baffled at the current state of them…

Some of the trait placements just don’t make sense in terms of balance and diversity. Several traits have been merged and moved down a tier (why move shatter conditions down a tier after merging it? It should stay grandmaster as a shatter support play style….)

Cant help but feel that the preview they showed us long ago was closer to perfect than this one…..

Feels like traits are in the wrong tiers destroying certain play styles and options among other things….I hope there not done working on this.

This is how it should be, but not in grandmaster. Instead, adept.

with the specilizations it does not matter where it is so long as it competes with the traits of its tier. in which case for illusions it needs to be grandmaster. to compete with the improved shatter trait.

you get to choose between stronger shatters or shatters that recharge when you reach 50%. not both as ip is now baseline and mental torment has been buffed.

i THINK they removed it because of chonomancers reset shatter ability, and the fact that we already have a signet that recharges the shatter skills.

BUT.. this is assuming you take chonomancy and illusions as your specilizations. leaving you with either dueling or domination. so your gonna miss out on mental torment or deceptive evasion. which is a big thing which will HIGHLy reduce the effectivness of this idea.

in my own highly logical opinion. i think that illusionary invogoration should return as a REVAMPED illusions grandmaster trait

something that works like this:

grandmaster: illlusionary invigoration ; when your hp falls below 50% activate signet of illusions active

aka if you run signet traits you can get a distortion when you hit 50%. among other things
effects

this way it gives the trait more functionality and build diversity because it will allow “shattermancers”, “mesignets”, to be a thing meaning more build diversity. AND
if you wanted to run “classic shatter” then you could run domination dueling and illusions grabbing this trait instead of improved shatters so you get the recharge.
so it would both give more diverisity and preserve the current builds

but you know. this is just my…..logical opinion

btw. to whoever looked at the “Vs” at the beginning of my post and though “w v w v w” youv been playing just the right amount of said gamemode

hay all i consider myself to be a hardcore fractal player even though i dont run them as much as i used to (used to run 2-3 daily, now i run maybe 1 every 2 days)

the reason being is that rng does not agree with me. so considering that i only do fractals for a chance to get the fractal 1 handed sword, AND YET have not gotten a single fractal skin since the release of fractals. not during the time in which everyone around me was getting them around the release of them when fractals was dropping them like candy. not during the period of time when the fractals rewards were bugged and only 1/1,000,000 was getting a weapon (obviously), and still not yet when the drop rate at 50 is supposedly 10%.

i think its safe to say that rng does not agree with me and i would be very happy to finally have a way to grind or my desired skin with a grantee that i will get it one day.

even more so if anet decides to release a change that if you have all achivments, reward lvl 50,and the fractal compositor maxed out that you can purchase them from a vendor

i have all achievements. have gone through thousands of fractal relics getting the fully maxed out fractal capacitor as well as getting all 8 of my alts 20 slot fractal bags(2 masterwork,1 rare,1 exotic variants each, i also have 4 bags saved for my rev when that is released[ as well as 60 tomes a lvl 20 scroll and 2 stacks of scrolls of k ])

so my question is this. when H.O.T is released what do you think we should expect if anything from fractal masteries?
1) a fractal weapon mastery so we can grind for that.
2) higher level fractals?/new fractals?/harder fractals?

what do you all think?

for my sylvari ive been dying waiting for less (oh how should i say this…) ROUGH….faces and skin texture…..

i wonder/hope that there will be more male/female faces that are quite cute/handsome(elf like perhaps) with only a hiiint of bark/plant life in a non obstructive area…same with body type being a more or less human look with maybe a bump of bark here or there….

basically a more elf(in terms of facial angles and such)/smooth/human/less rugged look in new face and body type/texture options with small amounts of bark like texture in ideal areas to give sylvari flavor(although the hair is all they need anyway…)
as well as perhaps some cool new facial options?
like….. i dont know…branch horns?

anyway will there be more customization options?

hello everybody.

ive been trying to neaten up a few things when it comes to my account. keybinds and such.
however after organizing my chat i came across the “game messages” option.

at first i noticed it let me know when one of my good friends loged on/off which i found REALLy useful considering normally you need to check a contact/guild list in order to be aware they are on assuming they dont message you which is a little inconvenient.

BUT there is a bit of a problem. now with this option enabled my chat is flooded with usless bag info like “you recieve 1 delicious rice ball”
so when your buying stuff or loooting or just salvaging or opening bags your chat is flooded with pointless info which you can see for yourself in your bags already.

i WAAAAANt to have the “contact logged on/off” option but not the “you receive item name” chat flooding.

i cant seem to find the option anywere to costomize this. which i find confusion looking at the detail put in to the chat customization for combat.

cant we customize what game messages we want?

anyway am i missing something?
if not then i guess i would like to suggest that option?

Figured I’d put my character here too. I love random chosen winners of pieces of customized art….but the rng gods hate me Q____Q

Name : “chaos of twillight”. (As in chaos of the cycle of twilight)
Race : sylvari
Profession : Mesmer

Chaos is primarily a traveler. He has traveled all across Tyria and back.
His personality is mosty cool and logical. His amulet known as a circle of logic which he received as a reward from the azura professors at the colleges of rata sum proves this along with his genius.

Being as powerful of a phantasmal mage and dimension alchemist as he was, and Having traveled all across Tyria and gaining influence in every corner. it was not surprising that eventually the three orders would attempt to recruit him.
The vigil although strong were very illogical and had very little to offer him aside from battle strength. Which he had already. The order of whispers although more intelligent did not have much else to offer him which he could not get already except orders of which chaos found quite uninteresting.

Joining the priory not for anything else but access to their secret archives and information chaos advanced quickly and easily to the rank of magister in but 3 days. The fastest advancement in priory history. Using his newfound information and some long earned influence around Tyria chaos begins his quest for pieces of twilight. A blade fitting of his namesake and goes searching for the blade lost for ages. Many challenges he faces, the claw of jormag which after defeating with the help of other legendary heroes gains the jormag’s breath. A ice dragon sword rivaling even the great sword sohothin , the journey in to the fractals of the mist were after much long journies rewards him with the fractal capacitor and Accended armor, finally the last challenge “liadri the concealing darkness comes forth”
The fight is legendary as chaos has to use every ounce of his temporal phantasm and mental magic just to remain on the same level with her. But Finally with the sharpness of his wit he is able to defeat her. Stabbing her with the unfinished blade and capturing her dark soul within. Imbuing it with its dark glow and power.

So whenever you see a small dark enveloped figure in the dark radiance of my sword or following close behind me just know…..it’s probably your imagination

Just get some traveler runes. Fits most build as its kinda like celestial in that it gives ya some of everything. Makes up for the lack of damage in the ability to kite/ get in range faster with the speed boost imo.

In Detroit Michigan freezing right now (I’m from hawaii). But I still know how to look good while I’m gone.

This is a raw screenshot btw. No photo editing software used.

Had to break out of the map in the grove. Use my musical harp to get the animation for the pose I wanted. Drop the harp to spawn my twilight causing the flash of light and stars you see in the background AT the perfect moment when my pose is right were I want it. And take the shot.
Took a few tries. But it was worth it.

ill rate the top at 7/10 fits the look of fall which im guessing you were going for.

no image editing software was used to edit my screen. its raw from ingame
had to break out of the map in the grove, get to a nice open sky background, use the musical harps idle animation and time the closing of the harps bundle so my twilight would be above my shoulder and would activate its sky explosion effect so i could screen it in the 1/2 second its visable.
took alot of tries but the fruits of my labor gave me my characters staple screenshot

To be honest I feel like the only change they overlooked is the double penalty. You have to generate adrenaline and you have to have a burst ability off cooldown. I would take the system as is if they removed the cooldown entirely. That way, if I generate tons of adrenaline I should be able to burst frequently. It’s called “burst” after all.

Sure if Mesmers don’t get a cd on their shatters.

Celestial stat as a whole needs a nerf.
Ele can take advantage of every stat on it thus it becomes a issue when the amulet gives more stat points than any other stat combination.

It needs the number of stats it gives reduced evenly so it overall gives the same number of stats as every other stat choice.

This will slightly reduce its toughness, vitality, power, crit chance, crit damage, and condition damage And bring the overall effectiveness back down to the mortal plane by making it more open to attack and dulling the slightly too sharp blade on their spear.

Because right now. Its ridiculous

Putting it as a minor trait is a bit of a cop out and a band-aid fix. However I’m afraid if it is a master minor, it won’t make a huge difference. You still have to trait 3 into dueling no matter what, and it leaves you with 1 extra trait point.

For example for a normal 4/4/0/0/6 shatter build. With the change it would be a 4/3/0/0/6 with the freedom to put the last trait point anywhere. However, putting it in domination only gives you the 5% extra damage when somebody uses a skill and putting it in chaos and inspiration literally makes no difference to a build. So you end up putting it in dueling anyway. Yes there are some nice options in the dueling trait line, however it does not promote diversity at all whatsoever or change the fact that mesmer is still largely tied to DE. It is almost like the CI situation with Warrior, except mesmers lack options for clone generation outside DE.

Making it an inherent class mechanic isn’t the answer either I believe. Because in the process you break certain builds that may in fact be hindered by clone generation. And also giving such an amazing mechanic for free, you would have to do alot of re balancing and just doesn’t make sense either.

Moving DE to an Adept trait is also a bit of a band-aid/cop-out fix, but most likely the most effective and best way to do it in the short-term. And is kind of the middle ground between making it an inherent mechanic and having to trait for it. You open up diversity for sure. For example, perhaps you could go a Power Lock Shatter build (6/2/0/0/6). A shatter build with more condi removal (4/2/0/0/6). Or PU Power Lock (6/2/6/0/0). Or PU Shatter (0/2/6/0/6) or shatter support (0/2/0/6/6). There could be some interesting builds. However the argument would be that is 2 points too little of an investment. Then again there are many traits in this game that are strong and easy to invest.

Or what I think is the best way, design other traits that can generate clones as well. Here are some trait ideas

- Generate a clone every 10 seconds
- Each time you attack, you have a 20% chance of generating a clone
- Any clone generating attack generates two clones instead (excludes phantasms)
- Channeling and using Mantras produces clones

The point of Placing DE as a master minor trait in dueling was not to give Mesmers 1 additional trait point. It’s to allow viable access to the dueling master traits formally overshadowed by DE to the point that you had to trait 6 points in dueling in order to use another dueling master trait instead of a grandmaster trait(because you HAVE to run DE in the master section or be unviable). Or you did not run a different dueling master at all.

So yes although the change is slight it offers tons more diversity.

However as I have said before in order to allow builds such as 6 2 6 (lockdown) to be viable DE would have to be placed in dueling adept minor thus moving critical infusion to dueling master minor, and placing sharper images in to the dueling adept selectable section.
This would be the most logical movement of the effected traits without effecting the viable diversity of the adept and master trait selection areas.(sharper images is not a staple in a power build. While critical infusion and DE is in every build. The idea is to not have a staple in a selectable trait section because it overshadows everything.)

However i honestly doubt that anet would place DE as the adept minor trait. 4 trait points investment to 1 is a big change.

If they do something it will Most likely be that they would place it as the dueling master minor trait and perhaps add other clone generation traits/revamps in other trees.

But hay if I’m wrong and they do place it as the dueling adept minor trait great!

Let’s just hope they don’t nerf some stuff in the process……because you know how much anet loves trolling us by fixing stuff while breaking everything else Mesmer does.

This is not feasible. you have 75 trait points :p

No its 70 of the old trait points (I’m using the old point system because I’m old school that way). I put 5-10 points in dueling because that’s the min / max points you can put there considering 60 points have already been spent maxing domination and chaos.

However if you don’t understand the old trait system then allow me to convert it.

You will be running 6, 1-2, 6, ?, ? Viably. With 60/70 or 12/14 points used maxing domination and chaos, and assuming my idea comes in to effect and you grab deceptive evasion (which in this scenario is dueling adept minor trait) then you will use a total of 65/70 points used with 5 left over. OR 13/14 used with 1 left over.

Question marks are there simply to illustrate the possibility that you can possibly place a point there IF you only place 1 point in dueling, Unless you place 2 points in dueling.

Hence the 1-2, or 5-10. Numbers depending what point system you use.

Phantasm vs Shatter

I’m currently running the build in my signature. In it I run a few shatter related traits and a few phantasm related Passives.
With it I change play style to phantasm or shatter depending on the situation I’m in.

Thanks for you build, really interesting.
Thing is – I would like to use a torch, I like the thief feeling.

If your gonna run torch i would suggest changing out the focus trait in inspiration for persisting images. Or perhaps vigorous revelation (I run this when I switch my offhand for sword or torch)
Although focus really is a beautiful weapon with my build…the reflects counter engies, rangers, really anything that’s a projectile(kill shots fun). And the pull is just god. The best cc in the game IMO.
My favorite combo with focus is 4 5 4(during 5 Chanel) >leap swap. Set up for damage complete. After that you can shatter or let the warden do its work while you blurr frenzy or swap to gs for a mirror blade mind stab combo. ….really up to your imagination XD
You can also switch out gs training for the torch trait although I would not recommend it….but if you do condies would be the least of your problem XD

Oh and about utility. Blink decoy are staples but for the third thats up to personal taste. I like arcane thievery. Stealing might,stability,,fury and also having the ability to send 5 stacks of confusion or torment or poison(doom sigil dd ele). Just soooo goooood

Oh my point is, I mean for example i would like to build a full lockdown build with both power block and CI.

The need for DE is too great making this build not feasible, i mean yeah you could work with it but it would be tougher because of the lack of DE.

Im saying is that, DE in its state right now is almost needed on all mesmer builds, which in a sense also kills diversity.

But hey, im not against your suggestion or anything, I think its a great step for diversity.

Well I suppose the only feasible solution then would be placing DE In adept minor instead of master minor.

As well as placing sharpener images in adept selectable trait section, and critical infusion in master adept.
That would allow you to run 30, 5-10,30,?,?

In any case deceptive evasion will always have a cost in order to have it. So it should remain were the crit chance, vigor, and the rest of our solid staples are.

All your brilliant builds can be achieved right now as all of the numbers you list off do not cap out the already available trait points. Where are you putting the extra that’s so game changing?

If your going to fly into a rage at least do your homework and math correctly…

I would also point out that raging and shooting down any other arguments made by anyone else by just blindly stating that you are right because you are right isn’t conducive to further discussion and a huge turn off for further replies and possible better.ideas.

Check your attitude if you aim to be taken seriously and actually add to these type of threads and be willing to look at others options objectively.

No offense but you are wrong. Signets are particularly powerful. The primary reason why people dont slot them in because The blurred inscriptions trait competes with DE with the major slot. you have to go 30 into dueling to get them both.

Lets take example signet of Midnight in a signet build.

24 sec cd, cleanses 1 condition, Aoe blind, 1 sec Invulnerable, Stun breaker.

If you wanna test its potential you can duel me. I use a signet interrupt condi build.

^ my point EXACLY. Well at least the part were its hard to get the specific traits without overspending points.

First part: the set up.
Focus 4, focus 5,focus 4 before summon,i leap/swap, *
2nd part: the execution.
Blurred frenzy shatter, or swap to gs 2 shatter berserker

phantasms are only good at 1v1 unless they build for defensive stats/ traits in order to deal with aoe from multiple opponents.

which cant work with shatter because shatter needs to be as bursts as possible and cant trait/build defensively.

So you cant build for both to their fullest.

Although something everyone does not understand is that all Mesmers shatter and all Mesmers use their phantasms. The only difference is how you play your mesmer and what traits you trait for phantasm/ shatter.

You can shatter and then summon phantasms until your shatter recharges for example of a slight shantasm playstyle change.

I’m currently running the build in my signature. In it I run a few shatter related traits and a few phantasm related Passives.
With it I change play style to phantasm or shatter depending on the situation I’m in.

I’d be fine with moving DE to minor Master trait and putting Sharper images down to adept but I don’t think the current critical infusion is a fair choice for a master major trait.

Moving either critical infusion or sharper images to a major trait I think should gain a slight buff, either knock off 5 seconds from critical infusion, or up the bleeds on sharper images to 8 3/4s

Yes this does give a slight buff to some of the old builds, however it makes it actually worth while to go that far into the tree for newer builds.

Critical infusion is not being moved.
All that’s happening with my suggestion is deceptive evasion is being placed were sharper images is, and sharper images is being moved to the selectable adept traits such as blade training.

that perfect salvage kit is just an upgrade extractor purchased at a 72.72% discount.
your price would be MUCH more useful, as well as MUCH more purchased. 10g per use would make it useful on like 10 times as many sockets as it currently is useful on.

To add to OP’s suggestion: one of the main reason they don’t add this is sockets in karma items. the other is that as it currently is, having to destroy items is a huge sink. If everything persisted, there would be massive deflation. To avoid this, how about any sockets extracted from the item are account-bound?

Account bound it is!
The big idea around my idea of item is just to allow you to have multiple rune sets that you can switch out at any time. Even if its 6 gold per set use I think that’s a good trade

Its a good thing that we have all our staples in 1 trait line.
Unless you would prefer having deceptive evasion in chaos, vigor on crit in dom and crit damage in inspiration instead of dueling.

= congrats your staples are NOT in the same tree……oh and diversity= Destroyed.

The ONLY issue with DE were it is, is simply that it takes away your choice of a selectable trait. Not because it’s the best trait in the tree. Instead because it is a necessity for a viable build in this game.

DE will always have a trait requirement. So would you prefer having it in another tree costing you at least 10-20 trait points extra thus losing out on some crit chance and crit damage without a choice? or keep everything that you need in 1 lovely pile….your choice

I don’t like ignorant egotistical players. So get out of the forum arguments you don’t truly understand until you l2p. OR watch your mouth and don’t start fights out of ignorance. I got plenty of better things to do then waste my time trying to explain things 1 letter at a time to players that annoy me on the forums.
