Boss Week: 2.0

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Cherokeewill.7504

I commented in a prior thread regarding the new SW boss and I have a proposal.
I have been running Tequatl since I came back mid season 2 and I find the other World Bosses to be SO boring now. They were always a walk in the park but really; Maw, Jungle Wurm, Shadow Behemoth and Fire Elemental are the first World Bosses new players are likely to see. Shouldn’t the fight be epic? Shouldn’t the fight be more than “press 1 and collect your loot?” The Temple battles are great. Why can’t we have more like this?

I propose a Boss Week: 2.0. Revamp all the World Boss fights. Not just to scale them so that the mapo full of people can tag them, give them all phases and make them spawn adds. Add new loot tables with unique ascended weapon skins and minis and even new spoons. I would love to have a mini Shatterer ?… Or a red and yellow ascended greatsword with flames… a black and purple dagger with crystalline effects… a white and blue sword with frost mist… you get the picture.

Finally, add new, unique boss tokens like those you get from dungeons to make items attainable if your luck is terrible. Award 3 tokens for success, 1 for failure. Items can be priced 50 tokens for one handed weapons and 100 for two handed weapons (minis for 200 tokens). Even add special consumables to make it worth running after you’ve won/bought everything you want.

I’d love to hear ideas on how these fights could be improved or special loot that could be created. To start it off, here is my idea for Fire Elemental:

Event starts as normal, follow Rooba and C.L.E.A.N. 5000, clear the reactor, protect him for the 5 minutes BUT the adds are stronger. Real Champs, Elites and more of them as the group demands. Make this event failable so the group that camps on the plinth waiting to tag the boss actually do some work.

The whole event is timed.

Phase 1: Initial Burn phase. Much more health and many more lava fonts but your basic DPS race.

During this phase, Rooba comes to her senses and has to be escorted by a group back to her tent to collect special Asuran fire fighting equipment. The escort would encounter Ember adds and maybe even some elemental forms we’ve never seen.

Phase 2: AOE and adds. The FE begins sending out waves of fire with diminishing effects based on proximity much like the Teragriff from season 2.

This phase begins when Rooba gets to the tent or the FE gets to 50% health.

During this phase, escorts will also be returning with anti-flamethrowers. Some will need to remain armed with their own weapons to fend of the non-fire spawn already within the Thaumanova, which should also upscale with the event.

While Rooba is returning, ranged attackers can continue to keep DPS on the FE but embers spawn in the room. Approximately half of the adds will fight players. The other half are drawn to the FE and if they make it, FE will heal for twice their health.

This phase does not end until Rooba returns to lob an ice grenade at the FE, ending the AOE phase.

Phase 3: Another DPS race but this time the returning escorts can use the Anti-flame throwers against healer adds with added effect.

Thoughts?

I think Bosses should be harder and have tokens like dungeons with loot vendors. Make each fight as epic or more so than Tequatl, with chest for that RNG bonus drop of Tequatl’s Hoard/Mini/etc., but award tokens for the event; 1 for fail and 3 for win. Then, if you haven’t been lucky enough, you can cash in your tokens for one of the unique drops after running the event so often.

It’s luck and progression all in one.

“No time to explain” my kitten!

We’ve been led on a chase with clues going back over a decade. Nothing that has been on hold that long can be so pressing as to not warrant the 15 minutes (1 minute cut scene) it would take to bring us up to speed.

And that still doesn’t “explain” why Caithe just stood there during that boss fight waiting for us to die so she wouldn’t even have to say, “No time to explain.” The only reason she said anything was because we survived.

Faolain and Caithe chased Wynne into this cave. The Centaur were holding the Shadow prisoner in this cavern and with the slaughter of the entire tribe it wakes up. Faolain panics and runs. CAithe and Wynne battle it together but Wynne choses to stay behind and use her life essence to keep the Shadow at bay. With the attack on the Pale Tree, Caithe realizes that Wynne is fading and she intends to sacrifice the egg to save Wynne or destroy the Shadow.

What Faolain doesn’t know is that Caithe did not kill Wynne/Wynne did not die whilst fighting the Shadow.

You would get in trouble with the local miner’s union if you used any of the nodes in the quarry.

I do like this idea. I’d like to see some higher level nodes in areas like this though. Why not add an Orichalcum node to the Ebonhawke quarry? Even making it account bound like rich nodes would be another way to draw players back to low level areas. Come for the node, stay for an event or two.

Bean counting and common sense are often mutually exclusive. It’s impossible to account for every variable in those metrics. They have become a fixture in corporations and good management will take their analysis and factor in the common sense. This is not a dig at Anet’s management, only a comment on good business practice.

I feel there’s definitely something to be said for a monthly LS schedule. If the 1st of the month were reserved for LS releases and the 15th for Annual Events, PvP, WvW and Feature Packs. 11 scheduled LS updates (January 1 is out) free up development to insure good product and keep expectations reasonable for both players and development teams. Halloween and Wintersday would run from 15th to 15th extending the Holiday for those of us that enjoy them and it would also give players a solid month to log in and lock LS content to there account.

Seems a good compromise to me and I think the community as a whole would gratiously accept this schedule if maintained. There will always be the trolls but if not fed they tend to fade away and the rest of us can get back to enjoying the game.

Has Living Story failed?

Cherokeewill.7504

Warning: The following post contains many rhetorical questions. If you feel the need to actually answer all of them, look up the meaning of the word rhetorical.

For me, the simple fix to my one complaint about the story would be giving us the option of telling Caithe to get bent and NOT follow us. She could still turn up at the end and…do what she did…by popping out of stealth then disappearing again. That would, at least, make our characters seem less dense. She was acting squirrelly, we noticed, we should have had the option of keeping her away.

Agreed. Choice, or the appearance of choice would bring the LS to a whole new level. Caithe didn’t even participate in the final boss fight before she stole the egg. Maybe that was a bug but it shows even more how little her character was required for story progression and how unobservant or willfully ignorant our characters were.

This would also help with replayability. Choose to tell Caithe to take a hike and you get the ending above. Play it again? Choose to have her along and she acts even more squirelly. She gives hints about having been here years ago but it’s a long story and she refuses to tell us. Some little easter egss to mitigate the idiot ball we’re carrying by not screaming “Why are you even here?!!!” before the last scene.

Back on topic: failed? No. The LS needs improvements in writing and content (and choice. Don’t forget choice) but it’s an ambitious and novel undertaking and I feel Anet is learning and improving as we go. The way the LS has managed with Season 2 to progress from the PS is very well done. It definitely gives the impression that something big is on the horizon.

The year before GW2 released another MMO boasting of their storytelling released in a galaxy far, far away. It took nearly no time at all to complete the story, with no global/galactic implications and then what were you supposed to do? I left because there was no update to the story and it soon fell flat into a daily grind fest or the Raid or Die mentality.

Has GW2 gotten grindy? No more than usual (try making a Legendary) and far less than TOR or that other game. Yes, 7000 bandit crests is a little rediculous for this one release, but how many candy corn cobs did you collect a couple months ago? Just because the illuminated armor is the first, earned skin released in a long while; do you really need it? I like the way my toons look right now.

Has the LS taken the place of a real expansion? It doesn’t yet seem so and thus far the release schedule has been on par with that other game. ANet released GW2 in August of 2012. The first major expansion for that other game appeared 2 years and 3 months after initial release. We’re starting to fall behind that but we’re already expanding the map. Also consider that other game was bringing in nearly $100,000,000 per month in subscriptions at that point. I’m reasonably sure that we’re not spending nearly that much on GW2 and we’re getting a better game IMO.

And you just got a Panda. That took that other game over a decade. What more could you want?

Or when the acheivement is lost, don’t remove the icon but turn it red and make it the retry mote. It would simply stop all attacks, gives you a 10-30 sec counter and restart the fight. The counter would be the time to consider a new tactic, user new consumables or just catch your breath. Better than dying, logging or having to complete the fight just to start over.

By adding healing (not passive heals due to auras but active, cast heals) to this scheme you’d get a thumbs up from me. If one switches to defense and guards the SW base NPC, covering them with heals while the other PCs are cleaning away the outside, you get far less credit. You keep them alive long enough to get the group back in to actually save the event from failing or becoming that much harder as we have to resurrect the NPC with Mordrem on our backs. Yet, you are awarded silver after this effort. I’ve seen this on both my Guardian and Elementalist when I switch to heals.

I know Anet wants to stay away from trinity, but why not at least add heals into the calculations for event scoring? If I have big green numbers flashing on my screen, they should count at least as much as the white.

Thanks for pointing that out.

We could go deeper into pop psycholgy and say that seeing Phlunt triggered some sort of psychotic break. She’s stolen the dragon egg not to resurrect Wynne or help Faolain, but in a convoluted scheme to destroy Phlunt or Rata Sum.

Or, as is supported by racial awareness studies here on earth, Asura may all look alike to Caithe and yet again it is only our PC’s interactions with the kittening Skritt dropping that allows us to make the connection from the memories we’ve seen.

I know we can’t get too deep with these characters when we only have four short conversations every two weeks, but wouldn’t it be nice?

IIRC, Caithe was not at the summit and may never have reported what she saw to the Mother Tree due to her guilt over being complicit in the slaughter of the innocent Centaur Tribe. The only other witnesses would be the Secondborns, who were so close to death they might not remember anything, and Faolain, who noone would believe anyway.

The Arcane Council would also be unaware in the this scenario, otherwise why would they prosecute him… And, it is 25 years later. He would think he got away with it because he’s SO brilliant. The Asura in the lab never identifies himself and it would only be the PC own awareness of who Phlunt is that would allow us to recognize him in his youth.

Bottomline: Phlunt is a prick and I want any excuse to kick him over and over and over…

As soon as I entered the old Inquest base as Caithe, I wanted Phlunt to be the head Asura that was experimenting on the Secondborn Sylvari. I think it would have been a nice plot twist and a little way that the Player Character could have gotten revenge for Taimi while we wait for Marjory to do her research.

After we plant seed #2:

  • Jory: What did you see boss?
  • Asura PC: We were experimenting on Sylvari. It’s a wonder Caithe trusted us ever again. When this is over, I need to have a talk with Phlunt.
  • Other race PC: The Asura were experiementing on Sylvari. When this is over, I need to have a talk with Phlunt.

After we plant seed #3

  • Jory: I’ll head back to the priory to investigate this door. We need to see what’s in there.
  • PC: OK. I’ve business with Phlunt in Metrica. Contact me when you have something.

The PC then travels back to Metrica and confronts Phlunt. We discover he’s an Inquest mole and an epic battle insues where we give his flunkies a beat down and he cowers in the corner. We then get to frog march his kitten in front of the arcane council and lock him up for crimes against sentient races, espionage and taking credit for Taimi’s genius.

This would have made the terminus of this episode far more palatable.

Mastery = priority

in WvW

Posted by: Cherokeewill.7504

Cherokeewill.7504

I’ve seen many complaints in chat and on the forums about players without mastery using/not leaving siege when players with mastery are waiting in the wings. My solution would be a priority system, much like an owner taking control of siege.

Players that have invested in siege mastery would be able to take control of their mastered siege weapon from a player with a lower mastery level or none at all. The priority system would be like this;

Owner > Mastery level > No mastery

The person that invested in and dropped the siege weapon would, of course, be highest priority and they should know better than to drop/take control of siege they don’t have mastery in. But if a Level 4 Ram master clicks use on a ram currently manned by a Level 2, the level 4 would assume control and a message stating the ram “was taken control by a player with a higher mastery level.” Two level 4s would be on a first come, first serve basis.

This would allow players that have spent the points to utilize the enhancements. Newer players could choose to place their points in masteries if they really wanted to and the good of the group is upheld by keeping the best person for the job in place.

Cherokeewill.7504

Huge chest at spawn point where after whole battle (even day) you can go and take all loot from it (reseting at 00:00 gmt each day).

I like this, but I’d say it only lasts until 15 minutes after you log out (taking DCs into account). I also like the larger AOE bag loot option since during a dynamic fight where you are working multiple targets where the bag spawns is one dodge roll away from being looted or not.

I played WvW for the first time yesterday so my experience is very limited but as an example of what has already been said above please allow me to add… I played three different level 80 toons in EB for approximately the same amount of time. At the end of each run this was the breakdown of just Badges of Honor:

  • Mesmer – 15 – Assaulting SM
  • Thief – 5 – Defending SM/Assulting opposing Keep
  • Ranger – 42 – Losing SM/Falling back

Now I realize that this could all come down to how successful my zerg was during those times, learning a new play style versus PVE and what I was doing with each toon, but there is a huge discrepancy between the melee, mid-range/melee and ranged toons there. I have no history to draw from but it seems unlikely this isn’t a trend.

You’re incorrect, the Fire Elemental has a half hour respawn time as well. I’m not sure about jungle wurm, but I’m pretty sure it’s respawn time is around or below 1 hour too.

Also, what Chickenshoes said :P

Sorry, but it is you that is incorrect. The Fire Elemental has a half hour timer attached to another half hour spawn window.

I’ve read each of the posts above and I’m still trying to grasp how alts are hurting your gaming experience. Even if someone runs all 5 alts through Maw and FE, and giving FE your half hour rather than the actual hour respawn, that’s 5 hours tied up in just those two events. In reality the time spent is closer to eight hours on two events for a total of 15-20 rares on average.

Now factor in Claw and Teq. There are approximately 2 hours of down time, simply waiting for these events to occur, if you want to guarantee being present and not shoved to overflow. Mega Destroyer (if loot gets fixed and added to the rotation) adds another half hour and Shatterer has its own window and pre-event. Spread that out among all of these alts you’re complaining about and all of a sudden the alt farmer isn’t actually doing anything and dungeon runners still get better loot for the time spent playing.

There are not enough hours to accomplish what you seem to be saying is a game breaking “exploit.” And after all of what I just detailed above would you please tell me how this is hurting your game play experience?

Guest bombing and lag are the real detriment to the game and I’m a definite +1 to making world events locked to home servers or simply locked across all servers but there is absolutely no reason to lock it based upon account.

Guesting is an exploit

Cherokeewill.7504

Alright, I know I just used buzz words in my title to get some attention but I’m going to stand by the statement, specifically when it comes to farming the World Boss chests and getting around the daily lock out through guesting. I also know that it’s currently allowed which means it’s not technically an exploit but it is actually an exploit.

Aside from the overflow and lag issues imposed on these large events by guest and home populations, popping from one server to another to get guaranteed loot drops is just bad form. Play the game on your server. Guest for the purposes of running with friends or exploring a new home but if your player killed Jormag’s Claw once today… Stay Away or roll an alt on your home server.

That said, here’s the suggestions:

  1. Boss chests should be locked out per character regardless of the server the chest is opened on
  2. Guild influence should only be accrued while on your home or overflow servers
  3. Guests should be the kicked to overflow servers to allow the home population access to their events should population require it
  4. There should be a 30 day grace period upon account activation before world transfers cost gems

1 and 2 encourage players not to abuse the guesting option and still allow friends to play together. 3 prioritizes the native server population because the guesting option should not exclude others from playing their game. 4 is just the way it should be since you never know what you’re getting when you first pick a home world.

Just a suggestion but if the goal was to spread people out and and make it so people were taking part in more events throughout the day why not make rewarding for people to complete all the events in a area. Say if you completed all the events in a area/zone once a day you would get a “area” chest with better loot in it (kinda like how the zone rewards for world completion popped up). In my mind it would encourage people to go back to lower areas and take part in events that were happening with this aspect of a reward at the end.

I like this idea and it probably merits its own Suggestion thread. Placing a new tracker in the upper right corner, “Zone Events”, with a drop down or a separate window that allows you to click each event and see the status of up/down and the location. This should unlock after completing the zone.

Sorry to thread hijack. Back to your unscheduled and unexpected Anet patch love fest. Thanks again Anet. Still loving the updates!!

Hirathi fail farming

Has the new chest loot rules effected the Splendid Chest at the end of the Harathi DE chain?

That’s the only reason I can think to begin fail farming the DE. Last night I popped onto my engineer for a quick run after running all the Bosses I could and completed the events as I usually do… and as Jade Quarry server has for weeks. It’s been standard practice to complete all the way through the Boss. As soon as we completed the Harathi Force Strength event I notice zone chat whining about “Let it fail!!” “Now we have to wait you idiots.” etc.

I don’t understand this mentality. Even if the splendid chest is only dropping loot once per day, I still can’t quite grasp the ‘race to 80’ mind set of some people and then the audacity of someone to kitten, kitten and moan because a group of players are choosing to play the game as designed. At least that’s how I see completing all the events if you can.

Am I off base here? There is no ‘end game’ content that people are missing out on if they don’t get to 80 ASAP. What am I missing?

And worse yet, it seems from what little substance was available in zone chat that these failers had been doing this for two+ hours straight without a break. I think I did them a favor.

Thanks for any and all discussion of this topic.

not to mention there is many who dont have time to level many character to 80 or just began to play the game. those are the people who will suffer. while those who already have 4-5+ characters at lvl 80 will probably benefit from having much better chest rewards and the ability to do the events multiple times pr day.

I’m sorry I can’t follow this logic at all. If you don’t have the time to level alts then why are you complaining that the little time you have is now more productive? Or are you simply referring to farming Maw?

People that just began playing will still be able to run the events over and over if they so choose and they continue to get gold, karma and exp. But now, once per day, they will get a nice loot drop and maybe they’ll explore the next zone for the next event chest rather than, again, camping and farming Maw.

This change hurts no one other than the ectoplasm magnates.

We defeated Grenth on Jade Quarry in two tries last night with virtually no coordination. My suggestion to anyone that thinks Grenth is too hard is switch to the Shades. If you make taking down the Shades you personal mission I guarantee things will go more smoothly.

And if you want the new rewards multiple times per day, then run the same event with alts. If you don’t want to level an alt, then as stated there are more than enough world events to occupy many hours of game play.

I fail to see any down side to this change.

Upgraded chests rewards - thank you

I wholeheartedly agree. Last night was the most fun I’ve had in a long time because the rewards finally met the standard of “World Event.” I think this is the best improvement to open world we’ve seen yet. I know there are going to be naysayers and lots of QQ but finally jumping around the world to fight dragons and corrupted ‘gods’ feels so much less futile and grindy.

I ran the Frozen Maw event three times last night with alts and pulled a named exotic for the first time in any event I’ve ever run. I also equipped that bad boy immediately.

To top it off, Kessex Hills Champions were also dropping loot which is another welcome addition. Blues are better than nothing and maybe that can improve too.

Overall, I give this patch an A- with some work on low level event scaling still needed, which I’ll address in other threads.

Thanks Anet, and well done!

Yes. I’ve pulled a few rares from the Maw chest on my 80s.

Mini map markers in DE when not grouped

in Dynamic Events

Two nights ago I completed a DE alone and a new DE spawned that was meant for a group. I bugged out of there after rallying and figured there was no one around so I went on my way. A few minutes later I got ‘credit’ for participating in the DE. I’m as much a fan of free exp/karma/gold as the next guy but I would love to have actually participated. If I had known there were others around I would have stuck it out and tried to get to where they were in order to work together.

My suggestion: When a DE begins and the program decides who is present and counting toward completion, place them in the mini-map so that a little coordination can happen even if there is no grouping. If there are more than 10, which seems to be the threshold I keep seeing, then place nine of them in my map, or even the ten the program is counting at that moment.

This would be a great indicator to let us know when we are part of an event rather than just passing through. It seems a reasonable stop gap to the overcoming the lack of ‘raid’ groupings. And finally, it would help with events that have multiple objectives as we would be able to determine where to best place our efforts. If there are nine people on my mini map and two of them are guarding the north entrance while seven are concentrating on the south, I now know where I can best lend a hand. If there are 10 people crowded around the Priest of Grenth, maybe someone would realize they ought go take on the Shades. The examples are numerous.

Make champs drop more money, a drop of liquid karma, and give kittentons of xp.
Make dragons from a jug of liquid karma, 1 gold, and give half a level/a level of xp.

Some people like to ‘earn’ their gear through drops rather than buy on the TC and karma is worthless after 80. The Temple karma gear has a certain ascetic that might cover some people but I’d venture to say they are a small minority since I rarely see anyone wearing it. And buying that gear simply to transmute it with a real-money transmute stone is a terrible option for many as well.

These events are the equivalent to dungeons as end game content and should have a similar (equivalent but not necessarily equal) potential for good loot drops. The drops are not just limited to Champions and Dragons though. It is all world chest/boss drops that have a perception problem, if not a real problem, in dropping reasonable loot. I’m not saying we should get ascended gear but dragon/giant/champion tokens plus the better than average chance at rares and exotics should not be too much to ask for. Fighting Grenth, Tequatal or Claw should yield better than a bag full of vendor trash.

MasterGeese, your solution simply turns dungeon farmers into mules for loot, as they are the ones currently receiving the drops, and increases inflationary pressure on the game economy. We’re asking for an increase in goods, not an increase in gold. Gear drops are just as likely to be worn or salvaged as sold whereas gold only serves one purpose, hence inflation.

Tokens would have even less economic impact and give people incentive to farm the events that suited the gear they desired, much like dungeon tokens do now.

Since most of these events have pre-event, why not up the loot table if you took part in the pre events. that way players that did the pre events and then finished would get the best rewards and other that came at last min can get normal rewards.

Taking Shatterer’s pre-event as an example, if you have more then five people doing this event it takes forever. The number of siege weapon drops required increases but the spawn rate for the 10-15 ghosts that drop them remains the same. The pre-event would need to be scaled to the number of people present (more people = more ghosts/lower respawn timer) in order to make this worth everyone’s time. As it stands now, more people in this pre-event simply delays the Shatterers arrival.

Scaling reward to reflect contribution (DPS and HPS) might be an option but it would also lead to competition between players who might be inclined not to rez others in the event in the hope that their reward would be higher. It could also motivate some not to switch to adds that need to be kited, such as those explody ones in Tequatal’s event.

I spent the last two weekends doing dragon events with multiple characters and trying to entertain myself with some other events (and dailies) during the down time. I’ve had only two rares drop for all of the combined events and one of those was from Maw. I cannot grasp why the chest drops are SO bad, especially dragon chests. Please give us more reason to do these events. They are fun. They are beautifully rendered but they don’t even pay for porting there. (Shatterer needs to be buffed and given more phases, but that’s another topic.)

There is no excuse for a 6 minute EASY event chain with a 1 minute boss fight to out do a ten+ minute dragon fight. Or in the case of the OP, a 30 minute Champion Giant… that said, we can look forward to Maw rewards getting nerfed now. (Please buff the fight instead. At level this was really fun.)

As for chest drops leading to loss of income for Anet, i.e. Gold – Gem ratio, an increase in the availability of exotics will actually decrease their value and decrease the need for people to farm gold. It would also make ectos more wildly available for those 250 recipes that seem so out of reach.

Stealth and my thief

I’ve managed to level my thief to 80, completed my story up to the death of Zhaitan, and I love playing the character but I feel as though I’m missing an entire mechanic of the class; I almost never stealth. I play PVE exclusively and I went with a condition/acrobatics build where I typically Death Blossom and dodge around my opponent/s until they bleed to death. I’m not taking much damage and putting out some great DPS. I’m very happy with this style of play but I know there’s more I can do.

Is there a build and primer somewhere, or can you offer some suggestions on a way to learn to use the stealth mechanic? What I’m really looking for is a basic set of weapons, traits and rotation of skills to start with that I could use against a training dummy allowing me to get a feel for stealth and how to maintain, maximize and attack from it. I’ve googled many builds and guides but they all seem to start from the notion that one already knows how to stealth and stay there.

Many thanks in advance

Ranger Rifle?

NO, this was disc. before and we DON’T Want this! GO play thief or warrior if u want rifle, all we need is to adjust the use of longbow!

FYI, thieves cannot use rifles and an engineer with a rifle is probably equipping it for the stats and runs around with a kit active.

That said, I don’t want to see rangers with rifles either. If any class should be a rifle wielding sniper it ought to be thief. The lore surrounding rangers does seem to prohibit the use of rifles in my mind and I personally hate listening to them in game. As already stated above, I’d like to see the expansion of rangers to better utilize the nature spirit idea rather than pulling them further from that.

Better reward system for events

Cherokeewill.7504

I’m not sure if your HUD wouldn’t instigate some elitist behavior or even trolling. The last thing anyone wants is a group in an event asking others to leave because they’re nerfing their rewards or someone being able to camp an area and actually keep others from getting the maximum reward allowed out of spite. Once players have to compete with each other the worst comes out. Any player of an MMO where you compete for gathering nodes has experienced the PC that swoops in and takes the node just before you and then they make some rude gesture or snide remark to let you know they beat you. Anet’s current system is geared really well toward bringing out the best in the player community and I’d hate to lose that.

I’d like to see some sort of interface that would display all events in your map/region, with a timer/progress bar showing when said event will end (or possibly begin), and the closest waypoint to that event.

I wouldn’t want this to be world wide. Anet would need to keep the number of players in any one event/area from getting overwhelming. The worst would be to port all the way across the map to fight a dragon only to be put in an overflow server on a separate timer or too few people to complete the event.

Oddly, only one other mention of engineer and that was an aside about not having one yet. I think my Engineer is best at tagging mobs and packs of mobs with the grenade skill. 6 AOE skills including a poison field, and if traited, you get the extra chain lightning attack from the tool belt. Swapping between grenades and flame thrower gives you massive AOE fields to easily tag anything with enough damage to get credit. I spend more time looting between mobs with him than any other toon thus far.

Need help with Daily Dodger please

Ranger is the easiest profession to complete the daily dodge. Equip a greatsword. The third skill in the autoattack chain has an evade built into it.

SNIP

I usually finish it just killing trash with a greatsword while waiting for Tequatl or Shatterer.

+1 – I have completed every daily dodge except one with my ranger and a great sword since implementation. The other was a thief evading with Death Blossom. There is no need to “dodge” or press V. Simply get in a fight and watch the beautiful animations with 2 and 3, auto attack will do the rest for you. Daily Dodger will happen well before you know it and you might even find you like the way the great sword plays.
