I like to chain stuns/immobs (muddy terrain/drakehound/spider) when I entangle and then I drop bonfire on them and laugh. Don’t try to entangle a thief usually, it’s too easy for them to get out or outright evade the elite. Btw it’s also great for escape.

Have you even looked at the stats the weapons give? It’s garbage. Not even remotely close to being worth it. If I make myself TWO one handed ascended weapons totaling almost 100 gold worth of material, I would get the following stat improvements TOTAL:

8 Power
.3% crit chance (yes, there’s a decimal there)
0% crit damage

A SINGLE stack of might gives about 4 times more power.

Have you ever had a 1v1 against someone and have it come down to both players having 10hp left? Where 8 power would have made a difference? Nope. Doesn’t happen.

If you can’t beat someone wearing exotics while you wear rares, you won’t beat them even if you wear exotics. Simple as that.

My pet will have both weaker attacks and weaker defense against full ascended :/ that’s awful. I’m talking full ascended; since ascended is basically ahead of exotics by a jump equivalent to 1/2 a gear step from what I recall in forum discussions. You claim the stats are low but how about full ascended? Hmmmm

They added LOS to mesmer phantasms to stop people from doing this sort of stuff long ago. I have no idea why these two others haven’t been changed yet.

It is odd that mesmer and ranger gets mega nerfed on walls but ele get to spam regardless of LoS. I guess ANET just addresses issues as they come and not enough people have complained about cheap ele’s.

Btw, there’s direct damage builds around here with like 3k armor, thats what you should shoot for. Zerk ranger has like, i think, 2100 armor which is why they feel like wet tissue paper.

Zerk rangers in wvw are very squishy and the main reason people say rangers are squishy

Turn off auto_target_ in settings if you like being able to leap away from stuff, this applies to greatsword Swoop as well. This setting is different from autoattack.

He is clearly disturbing the peace at an organized event from players in a certain community who were expecting an even fight of X vs X (e.g. 15 vs 15 or 20 vs 20[even numbered fight]). To be honest nothing else in this situation matters other than the fact this employee WENT OUT OF HIS WAY just to disturb this niche part of the population.

Honestly to answer the question, moment of clarity is stronger than 10%. You’d need like, I don’t know, a lot to make up for that increased duration to stun or daze. Stun/daze are two of the most powerful effects in the game.

You are collectively grouping the T1 servers and using something (probebly coverage) as a basis for ‘they care about ppt’. Once you stop playing for ppt you have more fun, Im sure many people have concluded that too.

I don’t think you speak for all of SoR, being the large and diverse server it is. Many wvw’ers are speaking out in this thread. Those are the players I’m talking about. I won’t make this personal and I’m sorry if anything I say comes off as offensive to you.

Wvw is a pve zone, I don’t think people care about players running alts to POIs or whatever. I think it’s probably wvw’ers who either don’t like gvg for whatever reason or couldn’t get in the map when they hear people discussing orange swords @ south whih invariably means gvg. People literally see that. They don’t see one person eating a queue slot with an alt.

I don’t understand. Some people are fine with ascended gear, with wxp buffs like applied fortitude, with outrageously uneven matchups and coverage problems, and with bloodlust.

But a guild spends 1 hour on a dead thursday night to play a GvG, and they lose their minds because it’s ‘unbalancing’ WvW.

There’s several factions here besides yours. First, There’s people who care about PPT. On NA t1, gvg does indeed eat up valuable queues. That upsets the hardcore wvw’ers.

Then you got the people who think train v train isn’t actually an organized esport. They believe it involves less skill than tpvp. Many pvp players fall into the category. I am one of them. I tend to question if we really want gvg in the current format. I tend to think more critically about things. For me, I call it train v train because it does not represent any kind of gvg that I enjoy.

Then you have ANET. They’re professional devs so they will take a more disciplined approach to gvg design. A problem for them is that they tend to agree with the tpvp’ers in terms of how competitive “gvg” really is. They would say it’s a degenerate form of combat by their criteria. However, it’s something many in the community like. So how do they deliver on that while also keeping everyone happy and making it competitive?

After that, you have the wvw dvs like devon who have been dragged through the mud for doing their jobs.

I think everyone needs to look at it critically like that. Try to understand the other side’s perspective. We’re all smart people. How can smart people disagree? They have a different vantage point. Learn what that is before raging and burning bridges.

I don’t know how long you should wait. That’s up to you.

Why do you need 10% more power when you can get 10% more damage (steady focus) for yourself or 12% more damage for the group with traited frost spirit and spotter trait?

Spotter already does basically what you want only better: it’s +150 precision for everyone on the team.

In skirmishing you get 10% more damage while flanking (hunters tactics). In nature magic you and your pet get 5% more damage with a boon.

Max dps build is zerker with 20/25/0/25/0 with spotter, vigorous spirits, and frost spirit. Companions might / fortifying bond / sigil of strength is perma 25 might stack on pet.

You want power? Trait for it.

Make spvp free to play is the biggest thing they could do. Right?

Note that if you play ranger, you will have to face those stigmas and stereotypes. If that sounds too burdensome, play another profession. There’s still a lot of ranger haters.

Why do people always hear bad things about ranger? I can explain that.

Ranger wasn’t so strong at release then everyone forgot about them even though they got a bunch of buffs. Some of the biggest buffs happened at the same time shortbow range was reduced from 1200 to 900 which caused an uproar of QQ giving those on the outside the false impression that rangers got nerfed.

I think that explains the apathy towards the profession and it remains the most underestimated and improperly played profession in gw2. If you’re not using (in dungeons) sword, offhand axe, fortifying bond, vigorous spirits, spotter, frost spirit, healing spring, and warhorn for blast/fury, well, you’re doing it wrong.

Too often I see “bearbow” rangers in pve with a bear and longbow. Do not fall into that trap. Use drakes, spiders, cats, birds, and red moa in pve. Never a bear, really, unless ylu have to slot “protect me” for a special reason (like tequatl).

On the topic of calling for firings, you people asking for that have demonstrated a clear mob (zerg?) mentality that shows no compassion and zero empathy. A human being does not deserve to lose their jobs for expressing an opinion you don’t like. Get over yourselves, please.

No, it’s against forum rules to call out a dev by name. Really, the whole thread should be shut down but they’re going to leave it open as a magnet for the rage. GvG doesn’t contribute the the WvW experience, i’d say it’s more on the side of exploit more than anything since you can control the amount of wxp and loot to a certain extent.

Why do you zerglets keep saying this kind of stupid crap? I dont GvG. I think most GvGers are knuckle draggers that think they are at some new elite level because they managed to figure out how to stack and use hammer abilities while moving. They still need potions and the target reticule to follow one another, but still its an improvement I guess.

That said, GvG has greatly increased the skill cap in WvW and has done more for reducing the blob size than anything ANET has done. It is also responsible for a lot of people still playing the game, when they would have otherwise quit. And for what matters to ANET they spend a lot of gems transferring around looking for competitive fights.

As an employee of ANET he has to hold himself to a higher standard while in game and he failed to do that. Does not matter what the players said, or what the situation is, he was in the wrong.

I can’t, I’m EU. I started on SoR though and was friends with (I’m going to misspell this since it’s been so long) [GSCH] before I moved to JQ. I remember SoR being a lot more laid back, but then again, that was before the first big exodus post free transfers.

Guardian has built in get put of jail free cards like aegis and stuff, that’s why you don’t feel squishy. Guanglai is correct about ranger.

It’s up to personal choice, really. Dungeons are pretty well balanced for any profession casual players want to play. Min/max in gw2 is more about skill than profession (watch rT steamroll dungeons and you’ll be amazed at what timing and boons can do for you). Just be sure to find meta builds so you know you’re starting from a good foundation.

Listen, everyone wants main hand axe to do something special: maybe ricochet off a single target or, as bri suggested, ricochet off allies. Clearly, it’s weak vs a single target (by far the weakest weapon in the game, if I recall). I don’t know where you thought I used it a lot. I tend to equip warhorn on secondary from sword/axe…sometimes I fill that secondary slot with an axe since it’s all the ranged weaponry ranger has for one handers. Maybe that’s where you got confused?
