Yeah I’m done with this game for now.
And I seriously have nothing to do with my time but like read or sign up for a swim team or something.Maybe in a year or two, or if they get a new dev team they will get their kitten together.
I’ve given these guys waaaay too many shots when it comes to PvP.
Shoulda just left this game when my brother and all my friends did.I hear this from players around the web where I search for ACTIVE builds for Ranger – none of LATE exist – not many are posting to youtube – it seems to be a lost cause – Anet and GuildWars2 hates Rangers.
Because everyone running regen is afraid of a nerf. Look up regen ranger.
Funny how you ended up paying so much on a game that has no sub fees. But to each their own, some wanna get there and just do it, others like me, just wanna go for the ride
then again that’s probably why I don’t have a max level character yet lmao
This is by far my favorite post.
CM is mostly just a pain due to unfair mechanics that instantly down you or kill you, such as the snipers that are rooted in place, and the downright boring lay out of the dungeon.
It boggles my mind how they made this large mansion, and hardly used any of the rooms or corridors in it. Its very linear and very annoying. Not hard, just unfair and unfun.
Rangers and guardians (and some others) can reflect…and bring a stun break. CM is punishing to anyone without reflects, invulnerability, or stun breakers.
Umm…seriously? Take a break, forget shinies?
Traited, it’s basically 100% protection uptime for the pet…seems great to use in dungeons if you like running cats. It’s also good for positioning the pet for search and rescue, fwiw.
Heres my issue with with pets in WvW. Arrow Carts. Try being productive in taking a keep/tower now with the damage and distance of arrow carts. The distance exceeds even a traited LB ranger. Pet dies immediately. I use to be able to send my pet into a zerg and get a couple hits on a piece of siege/player at least before dying. Not anymore.
L2P
Gee, what an intelligent response, idiot. So genious tell me how rangers, who are forced to keep pets out, going to keep a pet alive if for example trying to take a tower with the new arrow carts. Again with the new distance buff on AC, it now pushes a traited LB ranger out of range. Your pet usually stops a distance in front of you, so its not like you can place your pet behind you. So be more constructive instead of the pathetic L2P response.
Pets have 22k hp now, I think all of them have so much or more even. 1 arrow cart shouldn’t be able to destroy your pets more than yourself.
Even the tankiest guardian gets turned to chum in an AC choke point.
Which should be the case btw.
I totally agree. Someone gets it! Yes!

do not feed the resident troll lad… he probably gets paid from anet for every pro-troll-ranger comment he makes in the forums…
Haha it’s simple: avoid aoe, particularly if you run glass. How do you take a well defended seige position? Easy: with a team. I am not a pro. Seriously, you guys whine about the most ludicrous things. And I’m not anet, if I was, I wouldn’t be here. You are the trolls that run the devs out of here.
Yeah, sadly, you guys with five level 80s: you have no street cred. I don’t know one player with more than 2 level 80s whos good at ranger and she ‘s in my guild. If you don’t have at least 700 hours in ranger I don’t want to hear how much you think they suck. Learn to evade and use vigor. Every ranger I know said they didn’t feel proficient at the profession until they hit 400 or 500 hours. You cannot just craft up a profession and win because gw2 is a skill game.
Speaking of vigor, trait vigorous renewal for your team aoe vigor / healing spring. Run healing power and clerics and regen and people will love you. Better pets means little loss in dps in dungeons and ranger is a great healing profession because a cat hits like a truck no matter what armor you wear. In the new dungeon, do you have any idea how many times I rezzed the zerk warrior team I found myself in? Warriors get to play without dodging most of the time (easy mode) no wonder ever warrior dies with the ranger they just crafted up to 80.
If you were to track how a ranger should position compared to most other prodessions, you would see that it’s a bit different. With little defense, you must rely on vigor and weapon evades or your pet. For example, against old tom: stand behind devourer letting devourer eat the poison bolts while you range.

Ranger is level 26 fractals.
Pet dies every agony.
Can often switch before its death so the new pet doesn’t have agony and new pet when swapped back will be full health again without it.
This is assuming you didn’t swap for quickness.Until the pet’s damage accounts for about 10% of this class’ damage AND can’t be targeted by random AE affects, it will continue to be a drain on a group. And so long as it adds no value to the group other than healing spring to offset the enormous drain on damage output the ranger brings to the group, it will continue to be a garbage class… as has been discussed on this board countless times.
I’m 30 fotm and my pets don’t die in agony. Sure you got 25 AR at level 26, bro?
…relax, bug report, run normal skins? Or freak out, your choice.
Stated design goal is for thieves to have best mobility, fwiw.
In related news….
The “JQ BEAST” has awakened in order to prevent BG from taking first place. Coupled with the burnout by BG due to pushing hard over the weekend into monday, this resulted in nothing less of expected results and JQ establishing a large lead by tuesday evening.
In other news, anyone want to 1v1?
It is a close game.
I thought the name “Durzlla” rang a bell… Usually that’s either very good, or very bad.
Yeah, no… I’d sooner ask a drunk hobbo about the therapeutic applications of retroviruses.
I’ll listen to a guy with dolyak rank. It’s better than me.
I just use 1920×1200 works like a charm.
Life is to hard and is only temporary, It’s not worth living.
Why read a book from a library? That’s too much time investment for something I can’t grab on my shelf. Let’s cut libraries.
Yep – I never ran it before, and I will most certainly never run it now. Go look at the warrior updates, then ours. Then go smash our head against a wall. Whee!
Not that I’m not grateful for what we did get, but compared to the continued wammo love, I’m feeling like a redheaded step-child.
Sorry but warriors were in much worse shape than rangers considering they were at a point where no one took them into spvp. Rangers are awesome. You should play a profession that fits your playstyle.
I find the notion that whether one build is viable is misleading. A wooden stick is viable in the hands of Tiger Woods, for example. Instead, you should focus on whether you do well with it with your playstyle. Then, figure out how that ties into what your team is doing. And most of all: experiment. You will find many misinformed opinions on the forums in terms of build viability.
By the way…no mention on Protect Me with buffed pets????
I didn’t mention Protect Me here because this post is specifically targeted at berserker rangers, many of whom (myself included) opted to play around with other builds after the quickness nerf. A berserker doesn’t need protect me, traited SoS is a lot better and running both is overkill.
Interesting…you should tell that to no life kripparian and see what he says considering he does just that (runs protect me). Why would you run both though? That’s an odd suggestion to say the least.

Seems like Drake + Guard + Sig of Stone would be a pretty dang durable, especially on a healing-power beastmaster. As I recall, you can still send pets down from walls in WvW using Guard. I could see a bunch of drakes being used to quickly take out enemy siege such as catapults now.
You haven’t been able to move pets down from walls with guard for a while now – at least, it stopped working for me ages ago.
Hear that? It’s the point of slingblade’s message flying over your head. For what its worth, someday, I bet birds will be able to scale. Even of that doesn’t happen, I mean, dude, that was cheesy and you know it.
If you played warrior with greatsword in wvw, would you be able to hit a target that has run speed? In other words, there exists different run speed in gw2. If you can’t be bothered to chill, cripple, knockdown, daze, or stun your target, then why should I have any sympathy for your beastmaster build’s ineffectiveness? Use agility training or run with a team that can guve you swiftness. And, for dwyana’s sake, you’re a ranger. Cripple your foes. I got hundreds of badges last month this way so it clearly works.
I love bacon too. And, we are hustling to make this a reality. Just remember to listen to George Michael. “You’ve gotta have faith.”
There’s always money in the bananna stand? Oops, wrong George Michael.
April fools is over, my man. It’s time for may flowers. Smell them sometime.
Did Guard and Sick’em! get some stealth buffs i didn’t read or are you just talking about the lower CDs?
I didn’t know a drastic reduction in CD isn’t considered a buff?
Well, my man, you dont like slowing enemy for pet to use sick ’em and the cheese build you popularized was nerfed. That sucks. Now go find another build to popularize; clearly, you have the wherewithall to handle it. If not, roll your thief or whatever. Good luck in the future, take care.
Shouts got big buffs! Hurray! Guard is now even better with a much shorter CD, sick em changes, and buffed pets for more value out of protect me. What shouts will you incorporate and why?
PS-Anet….you are kitten amazing. Rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So my thief just downed a ranger.
After almost downing it, the rangers pet interrupts me, then starts chasing me around as I try and kill it. Then downs me with a 6k hit.
Then it proceeds to rez the downed ranger, then they both destroy me.
Fun fun fun!
I have defeated several mesmers and thieves this way. Ranger is god of the down state, for better or worse.
I love it. Anet is the kitten.

Yep, I’m done with this game and I see Chopps is confused on who to troll first.
Double axe ftw. Nothing makes me happier than reflecting another ranger’s rapid fire.
There were many discussions about this.
I’m so happy I re-rolled to a guardian after giving up waiting for ranger to get fixed, this patch fixes nothing important.. ranger remains shelved.
Good, have fun with boon hate and boon stealing. See ya!
I only play PVE, so yeah… I will continue having fun
I have fun with ranger in pve (dungeon master, sets of weapons or armor from each dungeon, beat Simin when Simin was in her hardest state to kill, FOTM level ~30 before I got bored of it). I’m sorry you don’t have the knack or fortitude to play such a difficult class. If it’s too hard for you to not be carried, I can see why you’d play gaurdian.
Patch notes made me realize why Drake was so ineffective… 2.7 second cast time?? I knew it was long, but in nearly 3 seconds even a crippled player could move from one side of the battlefield to the other.
I’m extremely happy with signet changes and very interested in pet AI/pathing changes.
I’m underwhelmed by the armor and hp buffs. The biggest buff came to the only pet that didn’t need it bear pets and armored fish. Devourers had a nice buff, might make them a bit more survivable. In any event, I think the only pets that are viable in WvW group conflicts are devourers and bears, this patch pretty much seals the deal for me because they are the only ones that got a good boost.
I’m skeptical about the reduction in F2 times too… will have to see how it works. If the range of the abilities is also increased then it might be a great change, but 1.5 seconds is still a hell of a long time for a moving target to get out of the way of an AI controlled animal that stops moving in order to cast. I guess 25-33% is a ‘drastic’ reduction, just not as drastic as I had hoped. In WvW I was picturing sub 1 second times in order to make them connect with moving players.
Bears and devourers are not the only viable pets in a zerg. Thankfully the toughness was left alone so aggro tables don’t kick up on pets in pve.
This is an excellent update for us, especially with the signets and pet stats/skills/ai changes. The only ‘nerf’ with S&R is pretty well justified too.
Spirits still seem a bit on the neglected side with no ICD changes, but I’ll give them a test around various places to see how the hp/proc% buffs play out.
Frost spirit has no CD
Just a heads up

So now Spirits can die in 3 hits instead of 2…
Seriously don’t think 60% is going to make them much better.
What two shots something with ~75k health?
I find the challenging part to be the deathtraps and the whole Counter-The-Rocket-With-Air-Blast area
We line up single file; fall back after shooting. You gave to hit it a little early due to the cast time of the reflector rifle.
Score update for those with “wife aggro”.
First, cast stability. Next, buy another copy of gw2. Heal yourself. Now, evade the slow internet connection. Slot said copy of gw2 onto desktop, for great justice. Bind it to the start toolbar if you want. The Wife Boss should then instead aggro enemies with husband (or wife) in a constructive manner exhibiting teamwork and success.

With full corruption, you will have nearly 1900 condi dmg if you use rabid or carrion. What this means is that you’ll get a lot of bags in wvw with traps. Good luck!
Sonder, bro. Gw2 is alive and well for me.
I wish there was a mode to solo bosses and the first time you solo a boss you get some kins of shiny loot that is account bound and prestigeous.
Because you didn’t bring blocks or reflection? I find this dungeon relatively challenging but we still run it with no deaths. For me, the challenge is being patient clearing mobs. Indeed, it is learn to play. Yes, this is a skill game. Yes, dying means you need practice. No, you have not yet reached your potential in this game. No, having exotics does not mean easy mode.

What’s number 6 though? :p
Just kidding. Welcome and good luck!!

Oh boy lookie all le trolling! Chest thumping everywhere!
Your server accomplishing feats =/= player skill.
Hell, half of you probably wouldn’t even 1v1 me. Someone good 1v1 me for god’s sake. I’m getting tired of roflstomping chest thumpers who think they have “skillz”.I’m getting tired of roflstomping chest thumpers who think they have “skillz”.Hilarity on so many levels….
Makes reading these forumns worthwhile!
Interesting…“Hell, half of you probably wouldn’t even 1v1 me. Someone good 1v1 me for god’s sake. I’m getting tired of roflstomping chest thumpers who think they have “skillz”.”
Umm…who’s chest thumping again?
@any complaining about people who enjoy partcipating in forums: SF just jokes around a lot and that’s the case here too. I think anyone getting all mad needs to accept a hug. Our first principle is to not take ourselves too seriously.
I love you all. Rock on! Good luck BG and good luck SoR. I have friends on both servers and wish you all the best.
Ugg, I just spent 130g to gear out my wifes toons, and another 90g to gear out one of my sons Thief, and Warrior to try and get them to play again.
Wish you could sell accounts in this game like in Everquest 2, would love to try an Engineer without having to level another 80s. <sad face>
Make your son grind out gear. Kids have it too good these days. :p
Exciting! Extravagant! Exhilarating!
Good luck to all! See you on the other side of the patch suckas!
My concern is my pet will attempt to move behind targets in PvP on the first attack, causing an initial miss. Also, I’m concerned that pets will no longer automatically aggro thieves when they come out of stealth (retargeting a cloaking thief is the root cause). Finally, I’m worried the increase in toughness will make low toughness pets show up higher on boss aggro tables, since, many times in the past, I’ve found cats and apiders useful due to their low toughness resulting in minimal aggro. We shall see if these are truly issues when the patch drops.
Another way to think about it is synonymous with triforge. Eventually they released syzergy. Similarly, after a few years or whatever, you guys that have the skins all to yourselves for a long, long time. Maybe then it’s time to open up a little bit. Or else a way to earn HoM points in gw2. It’s just really lame to start a new game and find out “oh…I have to play an old game to max this one out? Lame”.
Well you said it yourself, they are rewards for Guild Wars 1 players they won’t and shouldn’t add make any HoM items available to people who did not earn them.
In that case, I suggest either removing special pet skins from the pet management window or giving every profession ability colors (green mesmers for example) obtainable with HoM points. I say that because it’s weird to have a favorite profession I can’t max in pve. Either all professions should be that way or none, but, I suppose that is just my opinion and I can live with it as it is. It’s only a suggestion. God walking amongst mere mortals is cool and similar but I don’t care about that because it’s an optional title who’s missing presence isn’t even noticable in the UI. For completionists, this is kind of maddening and I’d hate to put 1500 hours into an old game when gw2 is staring me in the face. It’s just not worth it.
And the whole Hall of Monuments Tab in the Achievementwindow?
Nope, the pet window is much more prevalent. Every time I show people gw2 at my house they’re like “oh, wow, 1500 hours in this game and you STILL don’t have all the pets!?!” Haha.
then again that’s probably why I don’t have a max level character yet lmao
