Outrunning a centaur is actually pretty impressive. Unless he’s a fat centaur.

If I could do it you better believe I would be bragging about it 24/7 too. Basically outrunning a horse speed wise.

I had the same exact problem months ago when I wanted to buy HoT and some gems, contact support and send them an email, truth to be told they will ask for some specific info (the only thing I remember is to put the last 4 numbers of you card) and your issue will be solved in 2-3 days. Good luck

Thanks. Its weird to ask for the last 4 numbers of the card when to put in the info ingame u also put in all the numbers, but good to know. Was just curious b/c I’ve bought gems several times and have never had an issue before.

Title says it all. My card works and has $ on it. Basically everything goes through fine till the transaction in process stage, goes for a while like it normally does then just ends like it made the purchase except no gems are sent to me and I don’t get charged for it at least.

Tried closing and relaunching gw2 too, and restarting the pc just to make sure. Double checked with my bank its all working, just seems to be a gemstore issue.

Also can’t upgrade my account for HoT too b/c of this same issue.

Topic says it all. Not ranting I’m sure with the expansion tons of new skins will be made, just saying at this point in time almost all skins don’t even look right on a thief, much less look good. Almost all of them look very caster-ish and not melee at all.

Here’s a small list of ones I’ve found that are decent:
1) Scythe skin
2) torment staff
3) chaos staff
4) guild pillar (not my personal taste but a lot of people seem to like it as one of the few decent choices)

Maybe a female thief could make bifrost look pretty or something.

ps: everyone speculating thief’s got a rifle… you were wrong, unfortunately Doesn’t really seem fair everyone else get’s their own new unique weapon but thieves and rangers both get staffs. But that’s its own topic.

The standard edition will be available in a “boxed copy” version from some authorized retailers. Some of those retailers are engaged in the pre-purchase program. Others are offering a pre-order, which is not the same thing and will not gain the benefits of the actual pre-purchase.

Hope this helps!

collectors edition perhaps? b/c the original gw2 collectors edition was awesome… will gladly pay a lot more for it and some confirmation would be greatly appreciated.

I’m tempted to buy the HoT game now, the deluxe or whatever the best version is… but I’m more curious if you guys are making a collectors edition complete with say an art book, a revenant rytlock action figure or something else similar like the shatterer statue, posters, and music cd like the gw2 game had. Even the box was pretty awesome (lol for a box anyways)

Because honestly I would much rather pay $, even a good bit more, for decent or even better awesome collectibles then 1 character slot and a few gems or w/e. And don’t want to waste my $ getting the digital version if they are making a collectors edition too and haven’t announced it yet.

i don’t really get it… nothing against the lgbt community, have several friends who are, and legally i think they should have more rights, but why the need to put hot topic issues in a fantasy video game? In a game about unity and fighting dragons just seems like a good way to stirr up controversy and have more religion debates in trade chat and can see otherwise good people who just happen to have a religious belief getting banned just for having a discussion (even if in a polite/friendly manner)

why not put obama or hillary flyers up, or crosses or other religious symbols ingame too? Thought the whole point of a fantasy video game was to escape reality.

bunny trail but… why do voters even care about social issues atm when we are billions or trillions in debt atm in the usa. everything else seems kind of irrelevant in comparison to the giant problem that isn’t going away.

again (just to make it clear and i dont get banned for even posting this lol) i support the agenda, but I don’t get the need for it in a game. let the politicians and preachers fight in real life, ingame i just want to fight dragons and talk in trade chat without debates.

In my experience, anything that starts with “nothing against the lgbt community” is probably going to be against the lgbt community, just like anything that starts “nothing against black people” is probably going be racist.

I always hope to be pleasantly surprised, but I wasn’t this time, and I doubt I will be the next time either. :’)

if u actually read what i said… there isn’t anything against the community. Specifically said i have friends who are and also support their rights. I don’t like intolerance anymore than you do.

in reply to lord ahran: I didn’t say “being” gay was a political issue, i 100% agree with u that its a way of life and am completely cool with it. Just seems like the whole “debate” is a political issue and a hot button social issue at that judging by how passionate both sides get talking about it. To me might as well promote obamacare, or limited government, or christianity, or wiccans, or taxes, or other things that tend to upset people one way or another. I just don’t like people fighting over real life hot topics when I’m trying to have fun playing a game. That’s all i meant. If my friend comes out I will pat him on the back and say good for you bud But if 2 friends start fighting or arguing I will walk away since I don’t like confrontation.

confused about skill point changes

Chrono.6928

Not a qq post just trying to figure out what happened. First great job on the new lions arch

I don’t mind changes but this doesn’t make sense to me. I’m excited about the specializations and new talents or w/e in HoT, but why do i have to “relearn” all the skills I already had “learned/unlocked” before? Basic example: I had every skill unlocked on my main as a thief (and almost of all my alts too, all 13 of them) Now I have to use the new shards to learn them again? IE: dagger storm. Used a lot too b/c it was at the end of the list. Why waste skill points to unlock it twice? I don’t mind converting skill points to shards but why not just keep what u had already unlocked? It cost about 100 shards to unlock everything on him, and now I have 200 left. With 13 more toons… will quickly run out. Since I have to I’m guessing do the skill point challenges again to get more? Sigh, already did 100% map several times on several characters.

I heard in chat that they gave u the skills u were “most closely” using… that’s fine and all but i still don’t get what on earth that has to do with relearning skills? Waste of points it seems.

Guess it just annoys me the most having to get all those points again, and also could have used those points for more mystic clovers for another legendary instead of now relearning stuff i already had. Also I think my skill point books are missing from my bank.

Again I’m excited about the expansion, and new talent choices are always fun. and love the new LA and wings. Just hope this patch that just went live fixes the skill point issue b/c relearning twice seems really unfair and also a big waste.

Dev explanation for ascended armor change.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chrono.6928

I want to hear why this change was made – you’ve completely reversed your position on tiers now.

How is this a reversal of position on tiers?
They aren’t creating a new tier. All the current ascended gear you have will be buffed accordingly. You don’t need to go get all new gear.
They simply are making it a bit stronger than it was. Along with all the other gear that is getting buffed.

go youtube their mmo manifesto. you’re wrong. gg

Alternate Ways To Get Ascended.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chrono.6928

Chrono.6928

Ascended gear is expensive and burn you out IF you are trying to craft it fast.
Take your time crafting the time gated materials, get gold from whatever places you want (dungeons, SW, TP flipping, whatever) and before you notice you’ll have your ascended set.

You’re missing the bigger picture here. Anet promised in their manifesto that exotic gear would be top tier and easily available in a variety of ways so each person could play how they want, if you wanted to pve, pvp, wvw, craft, dungeon, or whatever you could easily get max gear enjoying the game how you want to play. Right now crafting is the only reliable way to get ascended.

Now history lesson: when ascended armor came out it wasn’t that big of a deal bc the stats were marginal, about 5%, and since everything could easily be done in exotics anyways it didn’t really mean anything anyways. Was just a nice progression mark for those who enjoy that sort of thing (usually ex wow players lol, just saying ^^ they just have to have that carrot…) Useful for fractals too but the AR could easily be put on the rings/accessories/etc.

Now they are making the stats 10% difference…that’s a pretty big upgrade. Maybe not on 1 piece but on a whole set it would be very noticeable. The only issue is that making it is very expensive and time gated too. The whole point of making exotics easily accessible in a variety of ways so you can focus more on playing the game how you want and sideways progression is kind of thrown out of the window. It’s like anet doesn’t even care what they said in their own manifesto anymore and other interviews. What they promised us.

Personally I don’t care to much b/c currently there is no content that requires ascended armor, and luckily no add-on/mod that shows gear level. Hopefully the speedclear/dungeon crowd won’t get sucked into the whole ping ascended gear trap. I also don’t mind waiting and taking it slow progression wise, working on my 5th legendary atm, plus i’m pretty positive once enough people complain they will make ascended armor easier to get. At least in the expansion if not before then. But if they go that route. and i’m pretty positive in time they will… It begs the question why did we need ascended at all? Once it becomes easy to get again all it did was just another useless tier. Then the vertical progression crowd will qq again and want another tier. Though hopefully when that happens anet will learn from history and even learn from their good ideas like agony resistance, and gw1 infusion and titles/buffs and progress some that way instead.

Shadowknights [sk] reforming a legend!

in Looking for...

Chrono.6928

Thanks for showing interest in our guild. SK has been around since GW1. We strive to be the best in all we do but even more importantly have a lot of fun doing it. I like to think of us as elitist jerks… just without the jerks If anything we are the exact opposite as people find us “truly” helpful, fun, and friendly. We even help train new players for those who want help and guidance.

Guild Goals: To “excel” in gw2 both in competitive spvp and endgame dungeons/farming. We are not a wvw guild at this time. I have found from experience that guilds who claim to do everything don’t have a clear enough focus or direction and end up doing. If you are looking for a group to have a blast with in pvp and hate pugging and losing to organized groups than we are here for you. If you love making tons of gold doing dungeons or high end fractals and other farms, we are also right there too.

Guild History: The shadowknights [sk] was founded in gw1 during prophecies by myself at the time known as X Ninja Sasuke X. Our accomplishments include being a top 50 gvg guild for a while, owning a UWSC record with our sister guild ODST. DOA farming, and being a part of the kurzick alliance that owned HzH. Most of our core members have legit GWAMM titles, 30+ hom points, etc with some 50/50 points.

On a typical day: You will find us having fun in spvp, doing arah or fractals or whatever for those who need dungeonmaster still or want a certain item, farming obsidian shards quickly in the silverwastes etc. While goofing off in gchat. Many of us play other games together too including GW1, League of Legends, Warcraft, Destiny, Halo, etc. We will also be telling jokes and catching up on life.

Who we are looking for: Anyone who wants to strive and be their best while also having a good time in a relaxed casual atmosphere with friends. We have dedicated “class professionals” who will help teach you if you are new to gw2, or if you just have no idea how to play an ele or engineer for example and want to learn.

ps: We are a north american guild, and on yaks server for those who care about that. As we tend to focus on spvp and dungeons it tends to not matter. Rep not required but would like about 25-33% at least so you don’t miss out!

Requests for Exclusive Skins

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chrono.6928

Chrono.6928

Greetings,

I would like to make a couple small suggestions/requests to make available a couple of exclusive skins that are not obtainable to my knowledge other than through the trading post (for exorbitant, but certainly worthwhile prices). I have been playing since beta, and I would love to finally own the Chainsaw Greatsword halloween skin, and the Decorative Molten Jetpack. I was here for the events myself but never had the luck of getting the Jetpack to drop in the Molten Facility, or get the Greatsword in the Black Lion chests during Halloween. I saw that for 2014 there was a chance to raffle from a skritt and receive the greatsword.

May I ask for all of us out there, to please add the Molten Jetpack and the Molten Berserker mini to the Molten Fractal as low chance to drop from the Fractal chest?

And please for this halloween, can there be chances for the Chainsaw Greatsword skin from a black lion chest.. just like before? Perhaps with a lesser chance to drop?

Thank you from a wishful charr who really needs to look great, charr-style,
Bathea Havocbringer

I halfway agree actually. I think exclusive skins are great. Helps people stand out and be a special snowflake if they don’t want to be a t3 clone. And some of the prices are crazy. I’m not against high prices but it does kind of suck for those who farmed forever and still didn’t get it just b/c of bad luck. But still I understand wanting to limit it so its not like everyone have sunrise/twilight in lions arch. I do think that everyone who actually did the Frost and Flame story back in the day and maybe all the achieves too should have got the jetpack, just like how the karka event gave everyone the scelerite backpiece. And that one was a much easier event. Its obviously to late now but I don’t think his idea of adding it to the fractal boss is a bad one, would help people reinvest their time in farming fractals. Even at something really low like a precursor drop and/or making it account bound would at least mean there was always a chance. That was part of the appeal of extremely rare drops from gw1 and they were very popular. And at such a low rate it would still be extremely rare so all the QQ’ers who still want to be special snowflakes while they might rage on the forums about the concept, realistically wouldn’t change much in game as it would still be extremely rare.

That being said I would love more exclusive skins for challenging content, make it earned and not pay a fortune for rng luck or the gemstore. The fractal backpiece, the maudry one, the balthazar backpiece from pvp, the rank emotes from pvp are definitely the way to go. Or here’s a crazy idea more challenging dungeons with new armor/weapons (hoping HoT has some at least, especially challenging hard to get ones)

The Norn are watered down

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chrono.6928

Chrono.6928

After playing through Guild Wars: Eye of the North, I had fallen in love with the Norn.

Everything about them was great.

They were a race of shapeshifting giants, who all sought out to be great hunters, and revered the spirits of nature.

I understand that Arenanet does not want any races to be any better than the next in Guild Wars 2…. but I am extremely disappointed in the watered down version of this race that appears in Guild Wars 2.

Racial elite skills have, of course, taken a back seat to the elite skills available for each of the different professions. It comes as no surprise that all of the Norn’s racial elites are unusable due to their lack of practicality, and with it goes the Norn’s claim to fame, the shapeshifting.

Not only that, but even if a player were to go against the grain and use the elite skill to shapeshift, it would only last a measly 30 seconds… then go on cooldown for a full four minutes. Which is very different from that of the Norn in Guild Wars:Eye of the North which lasted for an entire minute and recharged after two minutes of being cast …. meaning Norn spent an equal amount of time in combat as a beast and as a humanoid.

We are unable to use our weaponry or armor in Bear form in Guild Wars 2, and we are just a naked beast swiping at foes with our claws….. which is not what the Norn ever did. They continued to use their armor and weapons even while transformed.

Would it be out of the question to simply grant Norn players a soulbound “tonic” upon creation that allowed free (solely cosmetic) transformation in and out of animal form?

Even if we just got a generic beast-mode model (that was not dynamic to what our characters were wearing) as long as it was wearing some armor and wielding weapons, I would be happy.

Thanks for reading.

I heard the norns only purpose for males was to make eternity look even bigger than on a human and the females purpose was to look more like a barbie than the humans and/or add tattoos. Halfway joking.

Also while the elite skills in gw1 were definitely very op (especially bear form) and obviously they shouldn’t be that strong, I do think that racial elites should be just as powerful as their class counterparts, if not and no one uses them might as well take them out of the game. That was the whole idea behind the racial elites. Like say a charr thief that excelled in single target dps was against a big mob, the idea was it could use charzooka to have a different situational option. The elite skill differences are way better than wow’s old format where it was like do u want shadow or fire resistance. But since they fall short so much of their class counterparts it suffers the same problem that wow did, which is the only real difference is the appearance. Or how hard you want to make the jumping puzzle lol.

just a heads up about the op’s scythe, if its for a necro the scythe shadow effect on your staff doesn’t line up from the scythe, so it looks kind of weird like 2 scythes but not in a good way, like when armor clips or doesn’t line up sort of. Unless they fixed it, just know it was a big deal back in the day and lots of people got really mad.

after two weeks of “casual” SW farming i had so many obi shards that i actually needed to toss a stack of 250 out of my bank and my crafting tab holds 500 units per stack…so do with that what you want.

thanks everyone. Just curious what do you mean by casual bc that means different things to different people. Like 1-3 hours a day? 30min? Very thankful for the answers and glad I didn’t miss out on the farm.

well usually i just did the vinewrath run with fortress defence followed by the chestrun that usually happens right after the wrath and then jumping to the next instance to repeat the progress…or stayed if the people wanted to go for another wrath. Did that 2 to 3 times a day and now i got so many obi shards that i dont even know anymore what else to do with them. Actually.. now that i talk about it i sorta think i should start doing that again.

also the time varies at the SW stuff.. but you can count for 30-45 mins depending on how the people work together and protect the forts and fight the wrath and stuff

Yeah I just did a few runs and got about 30 shards or so and 100 of those nice loot bags. Just curious these people who claim to make several hundred gold doing this, is that farming all day or several days or just a few runs? lol. Also to make that much i’m assuming they selling golds/exotics if above the ecto rate but are they selling greens and such too or just salvaging for mats/luck? I’m assuming sell the greens bc that’s a lot of gold.

So I’ve been focusing on pvp for a few months, then started working on another legendary and ran out of karma, and I heard the silverwastes was the best farm for obsidian shards. I believe I heard you do chest runs with bandit keys, but since I never got into the whole SW farm not sure how it compares to just doing the events for luminescent gear etc.

If I could get an explanation that would be great. Did half of one run, about 15 chests, and I would get sometimes 3 bandit crests a chest, seeing how a key is 5 I was kind of confused, seems like a loss, especially since not every chest drops crests. I did get 3 obi shards from 1 though, so maybe its rng but theoritically could be better than just trading crests for shards.

Sorry if its an old topic, read a similar forum post but all the posts were several months old, and they kept saying enjoy it b4 it gets nerfed, so not sure if it got nerfed and still worth it.

1. The promotion of zerg mechanics in WVW, which includes full credit for minimal contribution on kills and the rally system (which makes zerg busting almost impossible).
2. The continued performance problems and lag in large scale WVW, which has only gotten worse.
3. Removing the solo que in sPVP.
4. Failing to act faster on major exploits, which included people farming bugged karma events at the beginning of the game and then turning around and converting that karma to huge amounts of gold, people exploiting the southsun cove event to get multiple precursors, etc.
5. Fractals update actually making fractals worse. Promising a fractal weapon box and then failing to deliver.
6. Promoting this as a game where “support” was a viable way to spec your character but then failing to deliver viable support specs.
7. Failing to come up with a viable solution for the population imbalances in WVW.
8. Failing to come up with a reward system for playing WVW that is more closely comparable to playing PVE in terms of skins, gold or titles.

I strongly agree with most of these if not all of them… especially the 1) zerg tactics, pve too. Looking at you world bosses… and people who have been trained to be lazy and fail the easy marionette fight by not reading lol.

4) precursor exploits: 60g and under incinerators…

6) agreed.

8) agreed but spvp too.

4) Meaning character deaths. In the personal story quests I felt like almost everyone of significance dies. Except treaharne and destinies edge.

If Treaharne dies this idea has my full support

lol agreed. Would even fit plot wise with the elder dragons corruption of the sylvarri. Even if he stays a good guy a misunderstanding that takes him out like rytlock doing a pre-emptive strike would make an epic story and leave room for many more future plot devices too. Kind of like how we all secretly rejoiced when rurik died, except he was less annoying. And why is he the commander when we do all the real work… Wasn’t even there to fight zhaiten…

1) straying from the gw2 mmo manifesto

2) taking away the “originally promised” HoM rewards (fow armor, 15k armor, minipets, pets, doa and destroyer weapons) and replacing them with the mostly lame or medicore hom current rewards…which people don’t have access to now…

3) guild halls/capes/alliances (sure gh are coming in expac and maybe the others will too one day… but why are they not in the game in the first place…)

4) No fow, uw, doa, elite content. Sure there is fractals and the new ta path and a few zerg events like teq or the 3 wurms… but its not the same. 1 path in ta doesn’t cut it … fractals are a learning curve and difficulty negated by AR and bugs. And I’m not talking the speed clear runs near the end of gw1’s life cycle after pve title skills and op consumable buffs, I mean the 4 hr doa raids in their prime.

5) Dual professions and many skills: sure its a different game and battle mechanics but that was a big part of gw charm and its uniqueness especially pvp wise. While maybe not hundreds of skills a few more wouldn’t hurt…

6) speaking of pvp… random arena, team arena, FA, JQ, alliance battles, guild wars, Heroes Ascent… etc… WvW is interesting and spvp is pretty cool but there’s a lot less options than gw1. It is called GUILD WARS for crying out loud. Where are the guild wars? I can’t imagine a mario game without mario, pokemon without pokemon, zelda without link or zelda, final fantasy without…fantasy…lol, world of warcraft without war, diablo without demons, etc. It just doesn’t make sense… at all.

7) The searing/pre: I know it happened a long time ago (I believe about 200 years?) But what if we could have played a similar experience the charr lands before the elder dragon ruined it, or the asuran explosion, or saw the birth of the sylvarri, the relocation of the norn, etc. Those who didn’t experience pre-ascalon and the searing in gw1 just have no idea…

8) Elite skill capping… more elite skills/variety. Sorry trait capping for +5% dps just isn’t the same…

9) Less lore, the human gods, the eternal alchemy, the norn spirits of the wild are barely mentioned… such a shame. Balthazaar, grenth, dwayna, menzies, kormir all have amazing back stories.

10) My greatest fear plotline screw up. Story out of order, people are dead and alive again and dead again. Bosses are out of order and don’t make sense. Meaningful stories are gone… so happy they are fixing this but why was this ever implemented in the first place without testing or serious editing… oh and the new newbie changes too… waiting forever for skills, underwater combat, stealing, pets, elixers, etc… it just doesn’t make sense… This game gets criticized for1-1-1-2-1-1-3 and then it does this… sure new HoT players and returning ones that quit will love this change (sarcasm) and quit b/c they don’t want to auto attack and level up so slowly… this game isnt’ wow with its tons of buttons… there’s barely any. Even casuals can pick it up or non gamers (like my brothers wife who was horrible at first and now an elite dungeon runner)

11) The mystic forge. Horrible RNG, just sell/salvage. No need to say more…

Chrono.6928

continued from above:

5) More character creation for free. I know gemstore = $$$ but so does an epic game. While I do LOVE the character creation in gw2 there’s a ton of room for improvement. This might be in future expansions but more options like canthian or elonian skins would be great. Maybe make ascalon ancenstory look different than kryta (there is a big difference, even if lore wise they all moved to LA/kryta and mixed) I think there would still be a lot of pure looking types too. I love the new hairstyles but why not make it free? There are a lot of other amazing things in the gemstore to buy. Also there are many other games with tons of character creation options like skyrim (especially with mods on the pc), and even games that are extremely dated gfx wise like perfect world had a ton of creation options that looked fantastic. To many gw1 humans, female norns, and sylvarri look way to similar.

6) More backstory, flashbacks, or interaction with the human gods, the eternal alchemy, the norn spirits etc. I know in my head they are there but except for a few instances they are rarely mentioned and have little influence. For those that don’t know look up the lore behind balthazaar, grenth, dwayna, the evil brother of balthazaar. What’s kormir up to these days? There is a huge reason why people LOVED FoW, the UW, doa, etc. How does the eternal alchemy play into all of this? Is one wrong or right or do both fit like the elephant illustration on all r/l religions? Where did the norn spirits come from? What’s their history and backstory? Why were some wiped out? Why do the charr refuse to acknowledge the human gods when they have first hand witnesses of them? (I know they threw out their gods and shamans in eotn and the flame legion in gw2) but how does that play into accepting their existence. How cool was it when the flame legion leader in cof story tried to become a god or godlike. What would happen if another succeeded or if the shamans came back to power or the separatists became a stronger fighting force and even events in the story might make more players pause and agree or at least consider.

I’ve tried to stay away from many topics that have been beaten to death like mounts, big raids etc, I’m extremely happy about guild halls (though it took way to long …) And would personally love capes (haters just turn it off like gw1 plz and ty) And stuck to story, lore and prestige things I think most people would appreciate.

I’m in no way ranting I love this game, its lore, and its gw1 foundation.

oh and ps:

7) Cell phone games/spin offs. Lets face it its the future and anet has done an amazing job creating lots of epic things. Like that charr minigame sidescroller, to super adventure box. To polymock battles. Or even guild chat apps, or achievements etc. The technology in mobile gaming is evolving… a lot. Most cell phones are better than a ton of computers not to many years ago. Tablets too. And there still aren’t to many AAA quality games. Anet could make a fortune capitalizing on this with even a tuned down super adventure box game and bring in many new fans kind of like how hearthstone helped wow some.

What I would like to see in gw2 or hot

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chrono.6928

Here’s just a brief list of things I would like to see added to the game or future expansions. Some have been mentioned a lot while others maybe not so much. Just my 2 cents and commentary.

1) New dungeons: Most mmo players love raids and or dungeons, especially vets and long time gamers. Even casuals tend to enjoy something easy like cof or ac. I know dungeons haven’t been a priority lately compared to the living world and zerg fights but there’s a certain pride that comes from beating a hard boss with a small group of friends. Also I believe its been stated in HoT the enemies will have smarter AI when it comes to battle mechanics so hopefully that helps with the stacking issues.

2) More awesome loot that you can earn in game instead of purchasing in the gemstore. Personally I’m a long time financial supporter of anet and love the awesome costumes in both gw1 and gw2, but I strongly believe in epic rewards in game especially for big accomplishments. There’s a certain pride that comes from earned prestige that money can’t buy. This is why some people like their fractal weapons more than the current legendaries. As of right now there’s only a few things in place that I can think of, legendary weapons (still a lot of rng or luck), the fractal backpiece, luminescent armor, wvw items, and while not loot the pvp dragon rank. Titles are ok but there are so many they get overlooked. While I’m excited about the new legendaries and hopefully other awesome skins too, I do believe after 2 years there should have been many more skins available. Like the champion weapon skins were a good step in the right direction back then. This kind of goes along with the dungeon suggestion above. I know many thieves and other medium armor wearers that would love more non trench coats still. Many gw1 vets would kill to see fow armor, 15k canthian, luxon or kurzick skins return, as well as vabbian and elonian armor as well. There is a reason the torment weapons sold so well in the ah, and the chaos axe, etc and while many people love their fds and ids still. There is a reason why Illadri is considered by many to be their most cherished minipet especially those earned the first time around the gauntlet. Things that are hard to get and have real meaning and people love them.

3) More lore/story/race tension: There is a ton of lore and gw is known for its story but I can’t help but feel gw1 had a lot more story to it. The flameseeker prophecies was crazy unique and crushed all other mmo’s quality wise and many console games too. Factions, nightfall and eotn had its moments. Everything from the seering, to the vizeer, the white mantle, rurik, ascension, glint, dwarves, the mursaat, etc. Also the gw2 books are amazing I would love to be able to play more flashbacks like in fractals or living world (like caithes memory seeds) but with the founding of the new lions arch or the fall of the original destinies edge. I’m very excited to see what happens in HoT with the sylvarri distrust, and hope for more. The dialogue in gw1 eotn between pyre and gwen was amazing and really showed both sides and opened up a whole new perspective for the charr that paved the way for gw2. And we can’t forget the asura used the sylvarri as test subjects (and many humans too) along with their complete arrogance as being the superior race intellectually, and as fragile as the peace between the humans and charr is there could be a lot of great plot twists and story opportunities here. Not necessary warring factions like wow or other mmos but just great stories.

4) Meaning character deaths. In the personal story quests I felt like almost everyone of significance dies. Except treaharne and destinies edge. Spoiler alert: from all 3 factions, from all 3 my greatest fear quests, to that 1 female sylvarri in orr, etc. While almost everyone cried or was very upset losing our favorite charr engie or tomm the bomb maker, several we barely knew except for just 1-3 quests. What if a whole group that you fell in love with was wiped out when the fort by lions arch was wiped out. What if all of those random npc’s had names and familiarity. Or what if less people died so I didn’t feel like every few quests some random person I barely know dies and don’t care about. Like belinda was on the right track but would have been better if she was around more. Someone like majory perhaps, not advocating her but it would get a much stronger reaction. Or treaherne. There is a reason while FF7 is famous for one of the strongest character deaths of all time and that’s b/c most people loved her… If you want a great story I would suggest something along those lines. Make people cry or hate with a passion the elder dragons, make it deeply personal.

Just a few ideas. You have may tried some of these but a lot are not known except in tech circles. Are your drivers up to date? Firewall on? Then turn off especially norton gives me issues, some other free ones work much better for me. U can allow programs through it though. Are you using windows 8 or 8.1? Both are famous for issues especially on wireless, quick google or youtube search shows just how bad it can be and also a ton of solutions to try. Is your powersave mode on or off b/c off can solve many issues but I have no idea why, just lots of tech experts recommend it and it works.
Ethernet or wireless signal? You can check to see if you’re signal is dropping by running a constant website like google as www.google.com -t (i forget how to bring up the run box but I will look or you can probably google it) If its dropping a lot then its a wireless issue and you may have to call your service provider or change your frequency.

If its overheating that could effect it, I know wow used to have a ton of issues with that with bent and slanted polygons and gw2 is much higher graphics. Maybe a cooling pad could go a long way. If you’re afraid of windows issues check your warranty and/or try a master reset/reboot (back up files on an external hard drive u want to keep) If your cpu or gpu is damaged your probably straight out of luck and there’s a decent chance its that too if your internet is fine. I remember gw1 was very relient on those and i’m really sure gw2 is too. Also gfx card. Almost positive I remember a lot of posts about loading times being based on cpu or gpu and or wireless.

I know I’m not a geek squad expert but I’ve built a few of my own computers and long time nerd and gamer. Sorry if I forget some terms lack of sleep lately from work. Hope some of that helps or at least might get u in the right direction.

Not sure if its related but I saw a few similarities so I figured just in case.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Logging-out-bug/first#post4981250

Basically when I log out the game freezes on a black screen or a white one. I can usually ctrl alt delete to close it but sometimes have to restart. Brand new gaming laptop with no problems on any other games and no problems on gw2 until the latest update. Also usually when I log out on my main account its fine but with the $10 sale I bought a few alt accounts and that’s usually when this happens. If it helps the characters are low levels, in the grove, or queensdale.

Specs: i7, windows 8.1, gfx 960 or 980 (forget which one) 16ram, ssd hd and 1tb hard drive. MSI stealth gaming laptop. Not an overheating or internet connection issue.

ps: sorry if its a different bug, just saw some similarities, also that one comment about multiple accounts and restarting. Hope this helps either here or with a different issue.

Chrono.6928

So since the most recent update when I log out the screen either gets frozen in black or dc’s and turns to white. I don’t think its an internet issue as no other online games are giving me any problems or streaming services like netflix.

Brand new msi stealth gaming labtop. Everything works great and I didn’t have this issue until I updated the game yesterday. Usually I can ctrl +alt +delete and close in task manager but not always. Not sure if this is a bug or not but since everything else works great and no issues till update and its only when I log out completely and happens most of the time it seems like a safe assumption that it is. No other programs are open either to interfere and no firewall either.

Legendary weapons will no longer be legendary

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Chrono.6928

Chrono.6928

I’m concerned that with precursor crafting, legendary weapons will lose the exclusivity associated with them. Part of the allure of such weapons for some players is that they are desired by many, yet attained by few. The old system has many drawbacks, but one advantage is that by controlling the precursor drop rate, the prevalence of legendary weapons can be controlled. If the drop rate of precursors is %0.01, then only the top %99.99 richest (or luckiest) players will have a certain legendary. A similar principle exists in PvP, where only the top x players on the leaderboard are awarded with mini llamas or glorious hero’s armor.

I believe that an account-bound precursor/legendary crafting would be an improved system if the requirements were extremely time intensive. I think that making the new legendaries exclusive by using time investment as an artificial limiter is the best solution. I think the new process should take at least 4-6 months and several hundred to a thousand hours to complete. This should deter everyone but the most patient and invested of players, and is “fair” in the sense that everyone can work on it at their own pace without losing progress and it is attainable to everyone who is willing to do so. It’s also fair in the sense that anyone who has one of the new account-bound legendaries will have gone through the same process.

its been over 2 years now and will probably be over 3 when HOT is released… that’s more than time sensitive enough. Most people who want a legendary have it already. Even casuals.

I have 3 and almost a 4th and I casually play and went almost a year without internet. Gold isn’t as hard to farm as people make it out to be.

Can we get to be dwarves in the future?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Chrono.6928

Chrono.6928

I think due to GW1 lore and events it is not possible since dwarves turned themselves into stone and are at least seemingly not able to reproduce. Unless someone can correct me on that. Though perhaps somewhere there is a group of unknown dwarves still around.

I’m pretty sure in gw1 lore and maybe even gw2 lore that I’ve seen it stated the stone dwarves are still underground fighting the destroyers… as they are now immortal age wise at least like odgen is.

That being said even though they maybe still around I don’t think lore wise you could play as one because when the king did the stone ritual they all became 1 entity called the great dwarf. An army sure but 1 mind. Like the skritt but without individuality. So while dwarves may exist still you couldn’t have your own character b/c it wouldn’t be you in spirit.

I believe all of the stone summit dwarves were wiped out but they were the enemy. Though theoretically if any did survive they could have changed their views and become friendly or they could have a revolution like the charr did against the flame legion and their shamans.

Personally I see little hope for dwarves since they went out of their way to make non generic mmo races… charr not orcs, asura not gnomes, especially sylvarri not elves. They wanted gw2 to be a stark contrast and about the only successful mmo to use nontraditional races. A much better bet would be to see tengu or quaggan, the bear people or the underwater people with wings (can’t think of the names atm)

I hope they do not bring back capes. I always turned them off because the clipping issues were very annoying. Clipping g is still an acceptable excuse.

With kind regards,

A former GW1 player

I hope they DO bring back capes. Many fans myself included loved them… If you don’t like them you had the option to turn them off… that’s no reason that the rest of us can’t enjoy them in-game.

By that logic I don’t like greatswords so no one else should be allowed to use a greatsword. It’s just dumb if I don’t like a greatsword I don’t have to use one. No need to ruin it for everyone else.

They mentioned in the past that some tasks necessary for certain masteries that players have already completed would be awarded automatically. So if certain mini dungeons or jumping puzzles are necessary, we might see those rewards upon logging in.

The map rewards they mentioned seem more like dry top and silverwastes, where you’re getting rewards every so often for completing events. I don’t think the rotating rewards will be tied to map completion, as they’re meant to keep players coming back.

Oh yeah, I barely remember this now that you said it

Thief.

Contrary to what pvp haters may say it takes a certain amount of skill. A lot more so than others like a warrior or guardian (didn’t say they don’t require skill… just not as much) An average guardian not playing his best in a dungeon will still probably be ok, a mediocre thief having a bad day is probably going to die a lot.

Mesmers are fun too

What's a good gear goal for a casual player?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chrono.6928

I know there’s legendaries, ascended gear, epic gear and a bunch of other types of gear in the game. I’m just looking for something to focus on which requires time to acquire, but preferably not RNG. So if I invest 5 hours farming karma to get a piece of gear, I get the karma and buy the piece. Done. No RNG.

I like to do events and outdoor bosses and dungeons in story mode, and WvW PVP ( although I understand stats don’t exactly matter in WvW).

Have you tried fractals? It can be a bit of a challenge eventually but at first its pretty easy. It has a sweet looking backpiece and isn’t RNG at all. Just time. You mentioned in other replies some interest in ascended armor and weapons and since the updates you have a much better chance of getting them as drops too (well much better is relative, but a lot higher than when i got mine… lol) and I heard some can be quite frequent. As well as exclusive fractal only weapon skins so there’s some special snowflake prestige there too.

New legendary gear?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chrono.6928

Chrono.6928

Hmmm I am not sure how legendary gear would work. At least with the weapons they have special animations, can’t really do that with gear. I guess being able to change the stats on a whim would be nice though.

I imagine legendary armor to be something shiny, since this game likes that. Like how twilight and sunrise and bolt are.

Armor wise I could see something like the animation on the hellfire chest piece (looks amazing!) or something like the flame kissed armor set but way better. Or like the radiant shoulders and gloves, or the chaos gloves from gw1. Maybe add in some cool extra effect animation kind of like how the flame seeker prophecies shield has that glow and page turn.

or say how the juggernaut covers the player in metal, more things like that but in ice, fire, shadow, etc.

i took it to mean that they will reward events and jps etc with chests like they did in dry top/SW more than exploring the zone

Yeah that’s kind of what I figured. Additional rewards like t6 and ectos and stuff. But my point is we do a lot of that anyways while map exploring… so do you guys think it would be better to wait and get the extra loot normally vs doing 100% map completion on several characters now then going back and having to redo events, jp etc for the collectable items? I get redoing an event isn’t hard… just seems like maybe if there are a lot of events and random quests to do you might be going all over the place anyways (again)

Hello guys. I have a question for you : How a ranger can survive vs a revenant?^
Ranger has so many limits right now compared to other classes in terms of survival skills..for not to talk about pets limits. Fighting versus a revenant will simply be the end for ranger.

MMM I think it s more like : ^^learn to survive versus ultra op classes issue^^ and rangers nowadays are used to that

What’s your opinion?^

With today’s announcement about the new precursor crafting info and legendary “journey” it seems like map exploration will be a big part of that. I already have 3 legendaries (incinerator, bolt, sunrise) and am working on twilight now. I was wondering if I would be better off waiting to complete my map exploration since it seems like we will be doing a lot of that anyways.

Also maybe I misread it, i saw it said u get some bonus mats for some events and jumping puzzles, did it say for 100% map of a zone (besides starting areas) too.

I think this will be a good class but there are problems with it being too op especially out in WvW. It will be to have a line of Revs in front splitting the middle of a zerg to soften them up for your back line to come up and finish them. I can hear the cries of unfair play even though everyone is getting them.

Happens every game for about a month or so. Ever play lol that’s how they advertized new heroes When wotlk came out in wow do you have any idea how op the death knight originally was, was literally a god mode in pvp for a month or so. Let people enjoy it and after a few weeks it will get nerfed somewhere, its impossible to “balance” before its released at best they can guess.

My Greatest Fear Plotline

Chrono.6928

I inquired about these concerns, and our narrative director shared the following:

Thank you so much for your comments. We realize that the changes that were made have impacted the personal story, and we are working to fix this. This requires a good deal of resources, so we do not have a set date for when these fixes will be implemented. We appreciate your patience and will update with more information as it becomes available.

thanks for responding. Just curious how much resources is it since they were already in game before? I get some to re implement it but its not like making new content.

Also I feel like with the new expansion this issue is a huge issue that could easily get overlooked. With every expansion in mmo history tons of players who quit return and tons of new players try out the game b/c of all the hype. I could easily see both returning players and new ones playing the game and get to orr and be very confused about the stories bc of deaths of npc’s then they are back next story, and think this game is poorly done and quit, which would be a real shame since its actually an amazing game.
