If that’s the reason for the suggestion, why not find a meager chestpiece that shows off the chest? For heavy armour, at least, there are a couple options for both male and female.
Downscaling does not prevent you from helping anyone else. In fact, personally, I’d say it makes it more enjoyable.
This is why I bought the Pirate Sledge as soon as I could. Most hammers are already rather weak looking, and being an Asura doesn’t help that fact. The Pirate Sledge seems to have been sized decently, and slinging around an anchor looks cool!
ANet’s decision on the matter aside, I don’t understand why people are against something that won’t personally effect them. I’m equally confused by the reasoning of “it effects personal story, home instance, racial skills, etc.”
As I’ve said in numerous other threads about this:
#1: ANet could easily refund any skill points spent in racial skills, effectively resetting them for the newly chosen race. There is no problem here.
#2: Personal story could also be entirely reset, forcing the player to go back through it from level 1. Experience and item rewards could be disabled until they reach story of appropriate level. This could potentially serve as a way to reset one’s order, as well.
#3: Cultural armour would be changed to the equivalent of the newly chosen race’s cultural armour. Order armour would need to be disabled until a player chose their order, whereupon it would be switched to the newly chosen order’s armour and re-enabled.
Implementing these would, of course, take time. It’s by no means an easy job, but racial changes and their appropriate switches have been included in many other MMOs, and ANet is failing to capitalize on a service that many players would gladly pay for. I am, for one, disappointed with the decision.

It’s not Pokemon. You’re not pitting two monsters against each other, you’re dropping a single Dead Branch to summon a monster for your party to defeat. A free RO server I played on ages ago had a similar setup to counter the griefing that took place with the item.

So, to prevent griefing, we create gladiatorial arenas that you enter into with your “Dead Branches”. You can bring an entire party with you, and the arena could be instanced or it could be a queue with the ability to spectate from outside, so players can watch it in real-time.
Suddenly, the idea of griefing is gone, because Dead Branches have been tucked away into an area specifically built for them. If Dead Branches are plentiful, the area will see more than enough traffic and could even potentially be another goldsink, albeit a very small one. You could even introduce betting!
Guildwars 2 is in danger if arenanet doesn't act on their endgame while they still can

How many people do you estimate are “getting bored”? For every one person that you personally know is “bored”, there are likely ~5 more equally enjoying the game for what it is.
ANet has stated explicitly what to expect of the endgame. We’re mowing down month 2 of post-launch, and we’ve still yet to see a great many issues fixed — but we all know they are working on it. Rather than stating an issue which has been brought up time and again, try suggesting a solution, try giving them ideas to toss around. And most of all, be patient. You’re not going to see something change overnight, these things take time.
I don’t see this change happening, if only because it then opens the floodgates for those wanting to see WvW removed from 100% map completion. I’m sorry that you choose not to do the storyline, but it’s not difficult to do so in order to get the PoI.
Warriors and Mesmers can wield swords in both hands! Give them a try!
How I personally would have handled the Asura storyline to make the game better.

No, thanks, I like the current setup.
Try giving this thread a bump, folks: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/ASURA-Character-Creation-head-size-customization-missing-Oct-8th
It’s in the bug sub-forum, so it has a better chance of getting attention.

It’s in the bug sub-forum, so it has a better chance of getting attention.
It would be nice if the developers had more time and/or incentive to join conversations on the forums, but it shouldn’t be expected of them. It’s not their job, nor do they have to inform us of anything — they choose to, and we should be grateful for that.
Now, that’s not to say I wouldn’t like to see more communication, but at some point players started acting as if they were entitled to daily communication from the men and women behind the curtain. It’s unrealistic and completely unfair. Weekly updates to make the process a little more transparent are a much more realistic expectation and response.
By changing it however ArenaNet turned their back to their most loyal fans. Please give an option to either enable or disable it so that everybody wins. I will not play the game before this happens.
Please don’t be so dramatic. ANet has stated that the camera has issues and associated bugs. They did what they thought was in the game’s best interest, not to “turn their back on their most loyal fans”.
It has absolutely nothing to do with “loyalty”, especially when you consider they’re trying to appease everyone while doing what’s best for the game and rope in both old and new fans of the GW universe.
Charr females are meant to be tough and rough. If you want “sexy”, bestial races, WoW has those. And, before someone gets their panties in a bunch, I’m not trying to be rude. Different strokes for different folks, and WoW really does have that if you’re interested.
As for the Asura not being hatched, they may very well not be, but do we have any hard evidence on that? I’m not saying you’re wrong, but the Asura always struck me as more reptilian than mammalian — even if they don’t hatch from eggs.
We’ve updated the camera to reduce the amount of camera smoothing currently in the game in order to lower the frequency of related bugs. We’re still looking into other camera issues, but we decided to make this quick change because it greatly improves the gameplay experience.
Given the way this note reads, I’m guessing that it will be brought back only when they are able to work out all related bugs with camera smoothing. With the feedback received, as well, I’d guess it will also be a toggle option.
Just be patient.
I’m going to guess that it’s an unforeseen bug, hence it not being documented in the patch notes.
If it’s not unforeseen, then it was likely causing some sort of issue that they need to track down and fix, and the team responsible did it and forgot to have it slipped into the patch notes.
Either way, until they make a statement about it, freaking out isn’t going to fix anything. Just be patient.
No. We don’t need to incentivize players to report bots. All the income a farming bot makes needs to be taken out of the game, not redistributed to the players, as redistributing doesn’t solve the problem that reporting bots intends to fix in the first place.
Adding some sort of alert sound other than the casually said ‘this is getting serious’ or changing the colour of the screen isn’t going to break the game. Furthermore it can be optional if Anet choose to implement anything further.
I don’t believe anyone has said it will. I’ve seen people specifically pointing out the various, current alerts available and giving advice on how to keep up with them.
That said, I’m still very curious about the size of a screen that forces the user to move their entire head. Or was that hyperbole meant to reinforce your argument?
(edited by Cinder.4865)
Let’s take into account the people who need to play with very large screens. Sometimes it requires you to move your entire head to look somewhere else. And also those who play with the sound muted. They need a more distinct and general audio and visual queue.
How large is said screen that it requires you to move your head? Frankly, I don’t see this as being a problem, as no screen should require that. It should never be more than a quick flick of the eyes to the health gauge and then right back up to the action. I’ve played on some large TVs/monitors, I’ve even played on a projector aimed at the side of a garage, and I’ve never been forced to move my head to take in the entire UI.
As for those who mute the game, that’s their decision to do so. I understand that not everyone wants to listen to the game’s music and SFX at all times, but that is their choice. What we have now for visual indications are more than enough, and ANet shouldn’t be forced to add more for those who choose to “impair” themselves.
Stating that it should be “eased down” is about the same as asking for it to be wiped from the game, at this point. These relationships are fairly subtle, so asking for ANet to make them even more so might as well mean we remove them entirely and pretend it never happened.
I hope this clarifies why someone would be upset with the suggestion.
Free transfers may end when guesting has been implemented. Until then, it’s something players are going to have to “deal with”. It’s really not the problem some are making it out to be.
Are you still stuttering after turning off vsync? You’ve a much better rig than mine, and I’m playing on max settings and never have any sort of stuttering issue.
I knew I’d find this here.
No, thanks, I’d rather not have my screen impaired in order to tell me that I’ve leveled up. Unless it would be relegated to a corner of the screen, tucked out of the way?
I don´t want to join the Vigil, Priory or Whispers story option
in Suggestions
Posted by: Cinder.4865
If you’d rather not join an order, I’m afraid your choice at this point is to abandon your personal story. I sincerely doubt ANet will consider an option to “go your own way” in the personal storyline, given the entire point of the story.
I’d rather not see this, personally. I feel like what we have going for each class is good enough as is, and I’m willing to wait for expansions to expand on the number of weapons a class is able to use. We also have enough issues and bugs to be taken care of without rewriting ANet’s current system!
Remember, folks, that game mechanics don’t have to (and usually don’t) make real life sense. It’s a bit silly to expect them to.
Unfortunately, race changes have been shot down by ANet. Knowing this, I’d at least like to have a way to change my chosen order. I chose Vigil for my main, and it wasn’t until recently that I saw the Priory weapons and, well… now I’m a bit irritated that I didn’t choose Priory.
#1: I can’t really address this, as it’s a fact, not a reason to do it.
#2: It wouldn’t. It’s not something you can mechanically solve, unless you just remove WvW from the game.
#3: For some, it might, but it doesn’t appeal to all, and it’s yet more effort and time wasted on something that ANet did not design initially for. What we have now works, and GW2 was never meant to be GW1.
#1: We have free server switches right now, making this a moot point. We’re just now outside the first month of the game, and we’ve only really begun to see stabilization of server populations and so forth. This will probably stabilize even further once guesting is complete and if server switching is changed.
#2: They are currently working on this, as far as I know.
I don’t see any reason to do this, as the server setup is working perfectly fine — aside from guesting being disabled, which they are working on, of course.
What are your reasons for suggesting this, though?
Yes, that’s the problem: I don’t want to dye the cultural armour the same colours as my Sylvari in order to blend it in and make it look good. You shouldn’t have to.
For the Vigil armour, at the very least, it’s all about the “buttskirt”, man. The one on the female Vigil armour is not only longer, but it also encompasses more of the waist. Heavy armour legs, in my opinion, look awkward without a “buttskirt” to add a bit more bulk.
And I don’t know if it holds true for you, but the reason a lot of heavy armour looks better on the female armour, to me, is the female’s sleeker form. Muscular is all well and good, but heavy armour always looks cooler on a slender, sleeker form. It’s why I played a femShep in Mass Effect.
Edit: The T3 Human cultural heavy armour is a good example of the above, really. The male’s set looks great — awesome, in fact! But the female’s is really fantastic thanks to the sleeker model.
Are you sure? All the times I’ve fought wolves, only the original wolf has the ability to summon wolves (you can see this under its health bar).
This has been my experience, too. Are you sure you aren’t having normal wolves spawn on top of you?
As nice as it is from a lore standpoint, it makes the job of dying Sylvari cultural armour that much harder and actually looks rather bad. =/
It seems that these are what pass for bats in the Guild Wars universe. There’s nothing wrong with it, as it’s a fantasy game, and things like this are common in fantasy universes.
Well, unfortunately, they can’t just snap their fingers and have a working feature ready to give to the masses, no matter how much money has supposedly been thrown at them. My suggestion is to be patient, give it time, and wait to see what they’re doing to address all of these concerns overall, rather than just the guesting feature. I’m guessing they have a lot more in the works than we realize.
Guesting is being worked on. They’ll re-implement it when it’s ready. Asking them to release it now to solve what is basically a non-issue will just create more issues.
GW2 is a single player game with other people bumming in.
I respectfully disagree. GW2 is only a single player game if you make it one.
Sorry, can’t hear you, Fumo, over all this mathmetizing and conquering we’re doing.
I own all of GW1, and I have tried multiple times to give it a fair shake. I even tried to get back into the game to do HoM before GW2 came out, but… I couldn’t. I don’t enjoy its setup, its mechanics, or anything about it other than its classes and lore. To me, it was all very clunky and boring. However, I love GW2!
But, in the end, it doesn’t matter which game you like. Play the one that you enjoy. If you enjoy GW1, play that. I’m not going to ask to make GW1 more like 2 (I know it’s not possible, let’s use our imaginations), and we shouldn’t be asking to make 2 more like 1. Certain optional features? Sure, suggest them. But don’t make the switch expecting the exact same game. It’s silly to do so.
I’ve not tried Keg Brawling, so maybe I’m misunderstanding, but how is it possible to leech?
I happen to really like the way the dungeon armour sets render on the Asura, especially the light armour sets. In fact, it was the main reason I created a little Elementalist!
I guess part of it is preference, but what sets have excessive clipping or strange proportions?
I like the login “box” as is, a separate login screen just seems completely unnecessary.
“I am often outpaced by friends traveling the map, because my swiftness boon is on a weapon I don’t like!”
Ask your friends to slow down and actually travel with you. I understand your plight, I really do, but “my swiftness boon is on a weapon I don’t like using” does not an argument make. You’d have a far, far better time coming up with suggestions to remedy this and, as I’ve already said, asking your friends to travel at your pace. If they refuse, well, what kind of friends are they…
Honestly, the main issue seems to be representing and the fact that if you’re in a large guild, they require you to be earning influence often — and most of it should be going to them. It’d be nice if we did away with representation, made it so you could speak over every guild simultaneously, and could personally assign a percentage of all influence earned over to each guild.
Say, for instance, that you are in both a large WvW guild and a friend’s much smaller guild. You want to help grow your friend’s guild, but the WvW guild requires x amount of your influence/time. Essentially, you’ll be short-changing another friend to “stay friends” with this WvW guild. If a percentage of earned influence could be assigned to a guild, you could split your gains 50/50, everyone is happy.
I really, really like the multi-guild system, and I’m very disappointed between ANet’s setup that forces you to represent and guild leaders essentially wanting “loyalty” out of players looking to have fun. I understand that you want a growing guild of people actively contributing to your organization, but no one should be kitten for just trying to have fun at the same time, either.
Come on let’s think a lot outside the WoW box people.
You can’t say it’s a “stupid” idea, just one that you find disagreeable. I’ve never died during a DE and found myself unable to get back to the event. You want functionality with your mounts, much like WoW has, but tell people to “think outside the WoW box” — give that one a thought for a moment. For the record, I’m not against mounts granting a swiftness boon, but it’s also not necessary, and I don’t personally think mounts would need any sort of added “functionality” beyond this.
Edit: Not to mention, for them to be usable in combat, they’d need to be purely aesthetic — no swiftness boon, no advantages whatsoever. I sincerely doubt ANet has any desire to rebuild their combat system to suit mounted combat. However, we’ll never know until they say one way or another. Now, mounts that are essentially siege weapons? I can see this being feasible in some way, but they’d likely be restricted to the siege system already in place, eg: buying blueprints to “build” them first, and therefore not bound to a single player.

…typical that you males thinking this is alright fail to understand…
Uhh, I don’t think there’s any need to be sexist, when people of both genders have said they’re fine with it. =/
Some vistas are ruining the game for me. Am I alone? Please heed my call.

I have to agree with Kuzzi, they, and map completion with them, are a completely optional part of the game. If they upset you, avoid them. Alternatively, grab a friend and figure it out together or have them show you if they’ve done it!
