The Mesmer is far from the most “useless” class. Least DPS in a zerg? Perhaps. But they’re hands-down the best utility profession in the game.

so u think playing veilbot and portal service is fun?no its not its absolutely boring. so yeah a mesmer can hide and portal in. big deal, but the fun is actually in zerg fights and defending and siegeing and there we lack a lot. i wanna fight too, not just veil the warriors so they can go to get their lootbags.
we are stuck with our stupid clones and phantasms/ai
ai is useless in wvw thats why rangers and mesmers suffer from it.

Mesmers can roam. One of the most efficient outnumbered roaming classes there are.

Rangers can’t. Even the most try-hard sword/dagger Ranger is inferior to just about any other roaming build out there. And Longbow and Shortbow are not even options in roaming. The Longbow is for tagging very few enemies during a ZvZ.

Ranger hands down the most useless class for anything from large scale to roaming.

strange, i havent lost a single duell for a few weeks yet, i am not joining up with zergs, but the last 2 times i did my support was superb, i was at every wipe one of the last man standing.

small scale is where the ranger outshines every other class with its versatility. when i ask my guild mates what char i have to log in, ranger, warrior or guard they always want my ranger.

Golem mastery

i would like golems with wings that can fly over the walls. or golems that can be fired with trebs to overcome great distances. maybe 5 ppl can enter a single golem that it can function as a troup transporter. finally a transformation should be implemented, 5 omega golem will become one zeta golem with superior firepower and laser guns. also some anti air funktions to fight again invading flying golems

You know, when they introduce independent Sigil cool downs, and the ability to put two Sigils on 2H weapons, it will introduce a whole new world of build options for us and for other classes.

Basically, all ~on-crit~ sigils will have new life breathed into them, and I predict some combinations will simply be OP. Having a few different builds theorized already, I for one can’t wait.

Can you link to any indication that this will happen? I havent seen this in recent gw2 news, just empty promises at launch to make 2h weapons equal to 2×1h.

an independent cooldown would be absolute powerfull. so many new possibilities. might proc on crit and might proc on weaponswitch would become pretty awesome in hybrid builds like mine. or ae torment and flameblast proc for some extra dmg on crit. heal on crit and lightning strike on crit. so many possibilities to spec offensive and defensive

first tests were very successful. absolute overwhelming results. the small scale build is enough to destroy everything you come across. had an intense fight with a phantasm hybrid mesmer, a few thiefs, s/s lb warrior, stun lock warrior ( warrior fights were both with the duel spec ).

and then the really shiny part: small scale fights. we ran with a setup of: 2x mesmer, guardian, thief and me. it was so enjoyable to rofl stomp all the warrior/guardian/ele pain trains

last but not least: i see a lot i can improve. i’ll work on it. rangers have a bright future in wvw. really.

one more tip. i use a spider pet as my main and a wolf as secondary. when the thief is running strait to your pet he want to use it for stealth. in such a situation press F4 and switch your pet. he looses initiative and stays visible. after that in 90% of the cases he will run strait to you. hammer F2 to interrupt him with the fear shout. more time he cant stealth. in the end he has to use up his shadow refuge ( if equiped now is the time for sick’em ) or run away. i havent lost a single 1on1 against a thief for ages. 50% win, 50% they run away and add into a fight later

why do you think vizuna would made any agreements with other server to win a matchup? i did fight a lot of times against them and have met them as the most fair server in eu. they are true sportmen and gentlemen. on top of that they have the best comunity in terms of implementation of all kind of wvw groups. pug, guild raid, small scale ect pp

Amazing video as always, and maybe now more Mesmers will try out support builds and come to realise its not ‘guardian or gtfo’.

yeah maybe anet should select better words on describing things without deceive.. or maybe they need some better experiance.. instead being theoric they should more practical or what ever.. or better i will buy some gems..
its out of topic but wanna point.. on patch review.. the guy wanna show range of MoC then other guy try to distrupt him not show range of MoC on Live.. but we already now.. :P anyway maybe better to look the other side of glass that we dont have 3.15sec mantras as early of game..

Even though I agree with the fact that guardians got too much of everything, it doesn’t mean mesmer should be as good as guardian in raids. Every prof got their own pro’s and con’s. Mesmer for example is much better in roaming/1v1’s than guardian is.

And even with this kittened meta, mesmer is far from useless (like ranger) in raids. So much support, even with dps specs, that can’t be missed.

totally agree. i was the ranger in the wvw"/raid/guild call it what you like" group. like said in a post before, with all the boon removal ranger is pretty usefull. it is the class that can reapply regeneration and swiftness the fastest in the game 16(12 if specced) sec cooldown on ae regen+swiftness is very useful. + the longest lasting water field with ae condition remove, fire field on a decent cd, blast finisher that also applies fury, might and more swiftness. high endu reg, pet with poison field that doesnt go down because it can fire from out of enemy ae bombing

2 german servers vs SFR, lets see how this goes.

Same as every single other time two German servers meet: The two of them bashing each other’s head in while SFR won’t even have to try to win it.

yep, rivalry between german servers is pretty high. i love to fight elona. they always give good challenges. i hope this week we can encounter some groups in a size of 5-10 ppl. baruch guild groups of that size always avoided us

Question would the arrows still be effected by the Longbows range attack base? So since I am at 900 the arrow does more, but less because I am at 900?

I do like the attack speed increase but I feel like medium arrow would be wonderful if it was just applied to the shortbow auto attack.

the idea is that each arrow has its own modificator for the range. heavy head and medium head have 1 modificator for the whole range and the light has it splitted up like it is yet. a pure far distance arrow that is not effective in ccq

Longbow Attunement

hi all,

i absoluteley hate the longbow, but i know a lot of ppl like it and are not satisfied with its performance. after a few minutes of thinking “how would i improve the weapon?” “what does the weapon need to bring for me to like it?” i came up with an idea.

what do you think about different types of arrows, each with other benefits and downsides. this could be implemented like the elementalists attunement or as an offhand weapon you can equip together with the bow ( no stats )

all arrows share the same skills

heavy arrow: max range 900 because of its heavy head. this arrow does scale very good with power. the attack speed is a litte bit slower.

medium head: max range 1200. this arrow has the same head and weight like the light arrow, but with barbs that point to the flight direction to create bleeding wounds for 1 sec per hit.

light arrow: like the longbow is atm but you dont need a trait for the 1500 range. also the sttackspeed is increased by 10-20%

There should be NO build in the entire gw2 system that is completely unbeatable by all builds of some other class. All builds should have tradeoffs. HealtankstuncondiimmuneWarrior is completely unbeatable by any thief build, and feardhuumfirecondispamNecro is also unbeatable by any thief build.

a guild mate is currently recording some fights again the “HealtankstuncondiimmuneWarrior”. as far i i know he hasnt los a single fight since 2 months.

hybrid dmg is the way you have to go atm.

i run this build in a group setup of 3-10 ppl in wvw. for duelling i change axe/torch for a berserker shortbow and the condition duration food for omnoberry ghost. also a change wilderness survival I for III

i have never before played such a strong build. i can handle every class 1on1, but the real strengh is small scale roaming because the support is so freaking good. when i ask my guild who i have to bring to wvw. warrior, guard or ranger they always want my ranger.

1. an imunity timer for cc effects. like the first cc that hits you has the full effect, the second is reduced in duration for 50% and then you get a time ( 3-5 sec should be ok) where you cannot be cc’ed

2. remove the downstate from wvw. when you have way better skilled player on your side and face a 3x bigger enemy group its impossible to kill them. every time you down someone he is instantly rezzed by 5 ppl that you cannot bring down because of the ae cap. removing the downstate would effect both sides positive. the skilled player get rewarded and the “zerg” players get motivited to increase their skill, instead of 1 1 1 1 spamming, double dodge crap and bunkering. you only lern from defeates

3. remove the port points from the keeps. the maps are simply to small. you can run everywere within 2minutes.

ranger – rework axe 1. ricochet is simply underpowered. make it 2x the dmg and singel target, then return to the ranger applying a random boon or let it pierce(like gs1 from mesmer) its way with 1.5x the base dmg it now has and apply 1stack vul or bleed for every target it hits.

the problem with bows is that they are single target weapons and not viable in wvw because of that. when i do duels i always use sb(superb singel target weapon in gw2) + sword/horn

but samano asked for ranger in a wvw guild. there is no space for singel target dmg.

we did run with 2 ranger, 1 thief, 1 necro and 1 guard yesterday. killed every 10 ppl strong fotm guild groups (like 4x warrior, 3x guard, 2x ele, 1xmesmer/necro).

edit: axe mh skill 1 needs a buff, thats all.

i dont see the problem with ranger(remember ranger != archer).

its a waste to use 6 dwayna runes with this build as it gives you extra regen that you dont need.
Use, 2 traveler, 2 monk, and 2 water all superior, use a war horn and you will have perma regen, swift, fury and might for you and 4 others. you get the same survivabilty with a dps boost as well and you give even more support with the extra boons

the last few days were very disapointing smallscale ( 5ppl group size) wise. you can choose between ganking solo/duo roamer and attacking the zergs ( 25+ guild and 40+ pug groups ) tail, pick a few ppl, burst them down and run away when the other 20+ ppl from the guild turm around an chase you. pugs dont notice the missing few ppl and you can thin them down pretty nice but that is not the challenge we are looking for atm. only other small scaler run in setups like: 3x warrior, 2x guard, 1x mesmer/ele/necro. its not fun to fight for ages again 5x hammer heavy cc pain trains.

it does and my group and i love it. in the past thiefs were always our last target in a group fight. now the dmg burst monsters are our first and they always go down in our first engage.

I wish A-net would just turn axe into a power weapon while giving torment to sword #2

axe mh has the weakest auto attack in the game. it would be so much better if the auto attack would be a singe target, non bouncing instead piercing, attk with x2.0 the dmg it has now. an attack chain of 3 different attacks with an additional effect for the 3th hit like 1 sec cripple or a random(?) boon for 2-3 sec.

the sad part is, i can easily kill your ele with 2 trait modifications. i dont care if a class can do 1 or 2 things better then the ranger, it is the whole concept, the vareity the ranger gives me. im loving it more and more. every day on my ranger is a good day. call me crazy or stupid, because i dont go the easiest way. i dont care. ill always stay with my ranger. it is the optimal class for my playstile and fullfills its task more then satisfactory

i have 75% boon duration, 38% crit dmg, 60% crit chance, 1600power, 1200condition dmg, 600 healing power, 50% condition duration, 3 combo fields.on top 2900 armor an 20k hp + massive evade and easy 14sec protection uptime. when i ask my guild what class i should bring, warrior, guardian or ranger they always say ranger. for small scale wvw fights ( 3-10 ppl is our group size ) it is the stongest dmg/support compromise in gw2 for wvw.

my thief wipes the floor with rangers. they are the easiest to kill in wvw.

yep. and thief is the hardest to kill. every time i encounter one the outcome is like: 90% of the thiefs run away, 9% die because they are overconfident or low skilled and 1% can kill a right played ranger.

when i fight other rangers it is like 98% win for me and 1% draw (coz they know how to play a ranger) and 1% lost. ( i have lost 2 1on1 against rangers since january )
