hi folks,
im just curious. in gw2 you cannot target your allies to use skills on them. do you think it will be possible to aim at your ( non targetable ) allies to heal them. that yould make positioning in group fights less important, coz you dont have to stay in line with your enemy and allie.
in the german version the tooltip says nothing about the change. it is still the same it was before the balance patch ^^
i hope it will not scale to well, otherwise pvp/wvw fights will lose a lot of their dynamic and will be unnessesary long

so a ranger with a staff….kinda sounds funky to me, unless you can hold a staff and bow in one hand each….. shoulda went with pistols or Rifle. would seem more modern anyways.

And make that the arrow hit the wall and can’t be fired close to it. Actually the arrow can go through the wall…

An upcoming patch will contain changes to how line of sight is calculate for arrow carts. Some of the arrow cart skills ignored line of sight and the rest were too forgiving with their line of sight calculations. Both of these issues allowed players with modified cameras to shoot an arrow cart from behind walls to locations they shouldn’t have even been able to see, much less fire at. In the future arrow cart skills will use a special type of line of sight checking specifically designed to reduce this problem while still making the allowed target areas feel reasonable.

solo roaming full zerker ranger here with 5 utility skills that clean condies. dont have any problems with necros or mesmers
you just have to adapt your build to the current meta
to easy to abuse a point system with duels you could just have a second account that lose all the time

i have to admit that i love the build he uses. running something similar atm. in pvp ranked solo q i havent lost a single 1on1 since nubu told me about it.

( sry for my english, is is not my 1st language )
first i have to say, i dont care about rewards. i main a ranger, have nearly 3k hours playtime on him with 99% wvw solo/roam/havoc playstyle. i finished my 200g achivement 2 weeks ago ^^
i read a lot about low rewards in wvw being the reason why so many pve player have no interest in even trying wvw. k-train is boring as hell and not the way wvw should be played. it should be all about the fights and the sieges. not about avoiding the enemy and choose the way of the lowes resistence.
i came up with this idea:
pve players profit when they play on a server wich does well in wvw. they get crafting-, gold-, exp bonus ect. why dont we make it the other way around. i could imagine something like “get 1 chopper for every mob that is killed in pve into your guild bank, when you have claimed an objective” maybe more for high value objectives.
this would improve the importance of defending and actually fighting for keeps. they would generate money for the guild ( higher reward for playing wvw )

Am I the only one who is fed up for months with the shocking state of Rangers in this game?! It certainly feels that way! I’ve made a number of posts here about how badly Rangers need an improvement to be brought in-line with other classes in this game, and all are ignored and ridiculed.
I have NO reason to buy HoT expansion because I don’t want a stupid Druid! I want a RANGED class with Longbow skills, and I had hoped Ranger would get some long-overdue improvements in that area, but instead we get a useless Staff with useless support skills.
News flash: This game does not have “holy trinity” MMO setup (Tank/Healer/DPS) so why implement useless ‘healing’ on a class that is already so far behind everything else?!
Ranger pets – Useless (They die instantly in ANY and ALL fights and still cannot be dismissed in combat! The AI is completely dumb. They don’t dodge when we do.)
Longbow DPS – Average at best
Sword auto attack – useless
Healing Spring (our main condi cleanse) – Useless
Lead the Wind – Useless because “piercing arrows” does not negate blocks or actually ‘pierce’ as it should, by cutting through armor (toughness).
Clarion Bond – Useless because it has a cooldown.
Zephyr’s Speed – Average at best, becuase it has a cooldown.
Strength of the Pack – Average at best, because it isn’t an instant-cast stun breaker (like the endless Warrior slot skills that are all stun-breakers with stability)
can you link the staff skills + utility plz.

heal as one is a shout too. would love to have a 7k burst heal every 16 sec as a “shout”
full zerker is the way to go in wvw with a ranger
sure. but they have to be a different quality
superior air / major air.
major is buggy and has an icd of 3 sek like the superior. dmg is the same.
i did opening strikes for around 9k at 1500 range agains glass thiefs or eles.

been trying a lot of things before the recent balance patch and after. full meele builds ( love them, my favorite atm ) this weekend i was trying the trapper runes ( thanks wooden for the inspiration ^^ ) again. last patch they were pretty bad for a zerker ranger ( i only play zerker specs in wvw, condi is way to boring ) but now they shine bright again. had a lot of fun, did a lot of dmg and supportet my team pretty good.

Maul is the highest dmg dealing ability of any ranger weapon dealing around 8k traited correctly.
And it’s not a channeled ability it’s similar to Evicerate.
Of course it can be dodged but thats what 4 and 5 and muddy terrain are there for.
Use moment of clarity and remorseless to get the most out of it and don’t forget to rapid fire the target for 10 stack of vulnerability.The problem is the autoattack it ahs very low damage and would be terrible if not for the evade that can be used twice if you know how to.
Also the counterattack is way too slow and the hilt bash is a nightmare to land especially behind your target because of the self root and short range.
path of scars is way stronger and does knock down. i did hit glass thiefs for 6k+ x2 ( wvw )

the problem is that 99% of the rangers use lb+gs. lb+s/a is superior in every aspect
- singel target dps
- 2x evade with sword 2, works with imo on you
- evade on sword 3, works with imo on you
- axe 4 does up to 9k dmg
- axe 5 is great when focused by other projectile users to safe some time on other cooldowns. downside is you are no more mobile ( dont understand why )
mesmers and eles are currently a pain in the kitten . the rest of the classes / builds are beatable ( equal player skill level in wvw roaming ).
i have 2300 armor 21k hp
thief did stunlock and heart seeker 10k++ damage ( couldn’t remember everything happen to fast )
guardian did 18k burning damage in 1 shot ( blink and spin )
please explain how am i suppose to deal with this kitten
even i setup traps to prevent them from charging towards me they still manage to reach me and i have NO ESCAPE ability, the only escape ability i have is using GS swoop and PRAY god i could fly like a eagle !

ranger only has 1 weak weapon and that is the shortbow. all others are viable and usefull ( wvw point of view )

if youre thinking Remorseless GS, im skeptical but cautiously optimistic. just because GS is such a clumsy, slow weapon that has no multi-target CC. in my eyes, LB/GS is still the only power build. if however OH axe gets reworked and massively buffed, I can see s/a/GS working on a frontline build. it also depends what happens to shouts.
LB/S+A works great for me. 8k dmg with path of scars vs 4 rezzing ppl + pulling them away from the downstater is a game changer in our roaming group.
sword is superior to GS in terms of dmg, mobility and utility ( i only miss the block )
just one thing i would change: axe 5 shouldnt root you in place
keep F1 – F3 ( maybe with a little better respond )
F4 – swap position with your pet, stun break ( nice escape option and maybe gives “guard” a little more use )

Only class I fully zerker on is a Raid staff ele, raid power necro or a pug longbow ranger lol
what is the problem with full zerker in wvw? we run 80+% builds that are exclusive zerker in our group. warrior, mesmer, guardian, ranger, thief, ele. dont see why this shouldnt be viable.

Seeing a lot of “physical” abilities like thorns, bleeds etc. Those would be great, but I’m also hoping for a “bigger picture”, broader spectrum of abilities for the Druid based on the original theme on Druids both historically and in fantasy.
The power to not only control plant nature, but nature on a larger scale. Why not control the sky, the sun and the moon, too? And tie it in with the cc people are asking for – the power to control the nature of people/animals.
These don’t just have to be on the staff, but could be the extra utility skills.
- Moon energy in the form of DAZE , removes condition on allies
- Sun energy in the form of FIRE , gives might to allies
- Sky energy in the form of LIGHTNING , gives healing to allies
- Plant energy in the form of thorns/BLEEDS , gives regen to allies
- Humanoid energy in the form of CONFUSION , gives quickness or swiftness to allies.Now it may be OP to have both occurring in one skill slot across the board, but it could be broken up between a staff skill and utility skill.
I.E. Moon energy on the staff may Daze enemies, and remove conditions on allies; BUT Sun energy on the staff could cause fire to enemies while a Sun utility skill gives might and something else to allies.Hope this may inspire more discussion…

You mean like, immediately when they are attacked? Because with the current mechanic a T1/2 tower falls about when the swords first pop.
I’m all for player scouting, but I know it’s a kitten boring job most of the time.

GS main strength is the maul. Going from half health to “o *! I’m dead” cant be understated. No amount of regen can help with that.
Maul does less damage than rapid fire though…and its harder to connect.
2 month ago i oneshottet 3 thiefes at once. they all used steal to close the gab between me and them. luckily i saw them comming and activated sigil of the wild, the first thief ate hilt bash ( MoC activated ) followed by maul. the thiefs were all lined up pretty well and i could hit them all together. result: 16k maul on everyone of them and three death thiefs. ( they ganked me 4 or 5 times after and i left the map :P )
am i the only one who is not impressed? i did bash my hand nearly every 10 sec against my forehead. the thiefes and the necro in the JP played really really bad. absolute wrong timing / no evades, bad use of important skills like fear and basi venom ecp pp. the open world roaming is hard to comment coz the player skill / and build is always hard to tell. the last fight again the ranger did show me that he was a way better player with a bad build. with my LB/GS build he would have destroyed you.
pro: you did evade all the important skills ( this can make your enemy look worse then they really are ) and your control of the GS is really impressive. for me it is just a finish off / run away option ( 100% bersi 6 6 0 2 0 )
keep playing power ranger and keep improving. always love to see other power rangers around.
elona is very hot at summer season, you should bring a lot of water to drink with you to survive over there
every boon shared with you is shared with 2 pets and has double effect
maybe there would be problems with the guaranteed immobilize remove or the programmers are just lazy.
anyone noticed a decrease in range? i was shocked after the patch yesterday and my arrows appear to not hit anything like two or three days before

for all asura player: radiation field did get a hugh buff too. im looking forward to test it
what about removing the 1% condition duration and add a “increase range with bows by 10” if you trait 30 points into marksmanship your range will be increased by 300 for both bows

That is an idea I haven’t heard so far. I like it.
However, you’d probably screw with some builds by changing the secondary bonus of Marksmanship. Some people might actually need the additional condition duration.
yep. that is the risk.
the biggest problem is our class mechanic. every single class has the same + stats on the trait lines in different order. we get + stats for our pet. for me as a wvw player the + stats for the pet is absolute useless. change the class mechanic from pet stats to increase bow range.
eg:
Marksmanship | + 10 Power | + 10 Range ( new Class Mechanic, works with both bows, axe( 1,2,3,4 ), horn ( 4 ) and dagger ( 5 ) )
Skirmishing | + 10 Precision | + 10 Ferocity
Wilderness Survival | + 10 Condition Damage | + 1% Condition Duration ( traps need to go here )
Nature Magic | + 10 Vitality | + 1% Boon Durartion
Beast Master | + 10 Healing Power | + 10 Toughness
