You can run out of fight as a guardian as long as You have staff on swap.
While retreating (running in oposite direction than enemy) place Line of warding before you (You must a little train this – point is that on end of cast line appeared on you – so while You are running You must place it little before You)
and after crossing it drop Symbol of Swiftness under Your legs (to catch swift),
also wall of reflection may be good thing.
all of this will work while You are retreating (in group or before group) – while You are not primary target for enemies, that method will let You escape (I escaped by that with 50 lvl guardian from situations where my 80 lvl ranger bunker wouldn’t make it.)
also shelter on healing would be good option because of block.

btw. as for me guardian is gw2 version of gw1 paragon – so We (guardians) are best in defensive/supporting playstyle. but can be played in another way – as guys told about dps guardians.
(PS. on some intsances Paragon in GW1 was a must in party and was nearly keeping party alive (with little help of two monks :P)

@Coltz ombo You where talking about would work only if:
1. enemies were already in range of ring of warding
2. if not point 1 You should take gs pull enemies toward You swap to hammer create ring of warding swap to gw and use Whirling wrath – sorry swap weapon cd is too long for that

As i said if you read, you can PULL INTO ring of WARDING~ with your GS for some reason that was a big tip ~

Elaboration:
Do ring of warding on the floor and swap to GS and PULL enemies THROUGH the ring of warding walls. While you are on GS use number 2 to spin ~..

If people still don;t get it i better leave it at that =_=

Also for your getaway plan experienced players would walk right through your line of warding with stability. and they are quick about it supplying it to the zerg ~

Only hammer available are 2H … I don;t know any engineers that carry one of those.

As a engineer I find it aptly acceptable to road kill other classes with custom built vehicles.

How about make the kits and weapon skins as defaults. BUT make backpieces REPLACE the engineer backpacks and or weapon skins.

And thanks to an already implemented back hide feature we can hide the backpack for the normal hobosacks if someone so chooses.

Also release a backpiece that is nothing, so people who just want nothing as the back can equip “back nothing” and then no backpack will show up !~

( have a show/hide on wep too ) then everyone would be happy:
- people who don’t want the backpacks
- people who want the backpacks
- people who want the backpieces to show

For KIT DISTINCTION you can have something like the old Kit Refinement except it does nothing, just an animation to indicate you switched kits. EX:

Grenade kit = snap your fingers and a small controlled explosion on your hand.
Tool kit = some scraps of tools falling behind or a wrench flip~
Elixer Kit = a colourful cloud of smoke from a chemical reaction ~
Bomb Kit = a bomb animation appears on the floor of the character to show planting of bombs or a radar symbol ~

Hopefully this idea could come to fruition ^^ ~

What is it about the Ranger that deserves so much neglect from ArenaNet?

Is it the fact that all the elite classes moan about us and shout at Anet till they nerf us?

Is it the fact that our playerbase is perhaps smaller than the elites like eles, guardians and thieves so they put less effort into maintaining our profession?

I just can’t play any other profession…. Ranger is the only prof i want to play in ANYTHING, whether it be Runescape, Grand Fantasia, Dragon Age, Skyrim or Kingdoms of Amalur. Why should I have to consider quitting just because ArenaNet can’t get their ‘balancing act’ together?

There were dark times for engineers too with threads that exclusively makes fun of engineer bugs and etc ( engineers are so boss that they can throw farther than they can shoot their mortars ).
Going into that forum feels like a jail cell with people doing random things for entertainment with everywhere dark humor of engineers could be better in the near future. ( with hope diminishing beyond their grasp )

Now its a slightly better.. but still grey so rangers aren’t the only ones. ( at least you don’t have hobo sacks )

HM, well I got pages of moderator warnings and complains when I post looking for the right target audience instead of posting where the moderators THINK the topic should be. SO I don’t know ~

Damage wise.. Greatsword spin does a ton of dmg. Have you tried hammer and greatsword? where u can do ring of warding combo it with GS chain pull and then use number 2 to rip everyone apart?. ( yes the chains pull enemies through ring of warding and they can;t get out afterwards )

Just some helpful hints.. Oo Don;t forget to spam F1 whenever you can for the burn. Guardians are built to last longer than your opponent but in this cases you can definitly do DMG to go on the offensive. Especailly with a 1handed sword and right hand strength AND NULL SIGIL for boon removal xD . gl ~

Ironically I started doing tons of experiment and theory crafting on guardians after a guardian wiped out my whole party solo. Doing TONS of dmg it is possible ~

Exactly because an educated guess would mean factoids leaning towards a certain guess. In this case it is all equally random. This is no hypothesus, no form of deduction, just a feeling of security to bet on a certain moa when it surfaces as the winner more frequently. can;t mix logic with emotion.

It might be just yesturday night that this is more apparent. Sicne you mentioned the bandits I’ll assume you are in Queensdale and yesturdays daily are GRoup event, events, and DAILY kills.
Some maybe specific to kryta, but Queensdale can cover all of these really fast so people come here often to finish their dailies and kill on sight if there is daily kills.

Events are finished fast, BUT on the map people will shout out events and people will go there. So you can find out where to go for event OR where to go to avoid. Usually intervals between the 2 fast sapwning group events, the Oak heart and Troll.

Just keep in mind if someone yells troll, there will be more people in that vicinity that might do bandit as well. Hopefully this way you can avoid them. If anything you can try other starters since queensdale is the MOSt popular starter for people to roam anways.

• also its the easiest placce for high lvl to farm holo wing as a rare drop fromm mobs. high lvls can kill starter map mobs easily and with queensdales abundance of mobss and events it is an efficient grind spot*

Why are people complaining about this? It is A LOT better than Halloween with the horrible RNG with BLACK LION CHESTS and a highly inaccessible Key to open it.. unless you PAY with gems. If you paid with gems you would get the same rng rate as the dragons coffers we have now.. ( which is a lot easier to find and doesn’t require a key ).

It has been a big improvement already, althought it is still a lil hard to get these skins. Anet certainly doesn’t deserve these RNG whinings, Having something hard to get is a good thing. There will be other events which means many more chances for these items in the future im sure.

This is not true. Everything I have is at a VERY good quality, with glint shine, detailed tactile grooves and structures. It is rather impressive, they screwed the Long bow up though.. what kind of a noodle design is that?

I’m new to building gear since I haven’t really settled on a build until now. However I noticed the HOM Knight’s amulet stats are different than the PvE Knight stats. What is going on? where are the Power,Prec,Vit.

Who’s bright idea to put this annoying aggravating voice which I can;t turn off in sPVP anyways? It really ruins the experience for me. I can;t turn it off without turning other voices off.

These backpacks needs to go, I’ve seen this complaints for a long time. since the first weeks of launch!

Can’t they just remove it and use some other means of players monitoring our kits another way? Perhaps some thin belt with a grenade / a fire caution box / gear box / for toolkit etc on the side of the small belt

True, but when people notice they are taking 1k damage crits because of what they are standing on they tend to move. This is when I use ring of warding to trap 3 people in while they roll around in my symbols. Also it increases my retalliation dmg.

hm, I tried symbol and retalliation build. It didn’t do terrible. But not a very efficient build.

is it that hard to understand that I am stubbornly sticking with mace/shield and hammer? trying to confront and challenge an unpopular method instead of avoiding to a easier wep combination.

There are moves with ridiculous cooldowns, and their not even elites. THis game combines the unappealing turn base and unsatisfactory limited action just perfectly that I get the negative parts of the two more than any positives..

Now that I think about it.. all “Data” influences of the engineer is not just dam right annoying but utterly tasteless. Who thought it would be funny to have an engineer run hobosacks. It’s like having a kitteny racist 12 year old calling you a kid with an kitten/ arrogant demeaner.

I think the fact everybody thinks they need hammer demonstrates how sad trying to melee in this game can be without stuns or jumps.

Mace/Shield + Staff should be much better for you but it is admittedly difficult to keep people in range.

Actually I prefer BLUNT weapons in games, thus I am stubbornly sticking to them regardless of skills.

back on topic, Besides typical AHbuilds, symbols, and (trait for dmg / stats for defence ). What other options do I have really? I feel I am very limited by the game in creativity and builds, perhaps i exhausted my own ~.

before more tips I would like to add I already know there are better wep combination synergy out there with my other builds such as my awesome DPS teleport build, or Hammer – GS trap and destroy builds. However accomplish this particular build with M/Sh + H is proven plain silly in WvW.. ( because im trying to use mainhand M/SH ).
I also believe that this build would definitly need retaliation help for dmg dealing of course.

I am stubbornly staying mace/shield and hammer. I want a great staying / sustainability power from mace shield. but do enough dmg with hammer to kill. is this possible and where i should allocate my traits? I’ve been trying and failing results for 4 days now xD

if u talk guardian u need like 16k hp rest toughness and healpower. saying 300 healing good is false. your dodge heal benefits a lot from high healing power. Guardian is not as dps, it scales horribly with critdmg.also precision is very important on guardiain
so -healing power toughness precision are main guardian stats

From what I remember a healing formula was shown and proved that healing isn’t worth the investment over around 300; infact 300 should be more than enough perfect benchmark is around 250. unless they’ve changed something in the last 4 n 1/2months it should still be the same.

so Guardians can only support and tank? I thought this game is advertised all roles can do whatever O_o.

Anyways if I want support I would of gone Altruistic build =/

From what I experienced 19- 22k hp and rest should be on toughness to avoid lucky stacked Burst crits. toughness is worth stacking and healing is only good to around 300. power around 3100 mark and balnced CD and prec.

having atleast 2 break stuns, and a semi effective condition removal is enough.

what stats are worth the investment for WvW that is the main question. with the same amount of toughness or power one still out weights another. This question isn’t exclusive to a particular class or situation. Use your experience of WvW to answer the question; what most people do in WvW? and within those people, what moves, or class do they use most? Use your own way to answer this question~ from your experience.

Good for doing what in WvW? There are many good trait and gear setups for WvW. Its more important to know WHAT you want to do in WvW and build for it.

just want to be able to take dmg and staying alive long enough for enemies to fall, or run.

Hey I’m trying to build some WvW builds with a number of classes starting with a guardian Mace/Sh and Hammer, bunker build.

So Iam wondering what stats are worth the investment for WvW and what stats aren’t.

From what I’ve seen the stats of importance is
Power
Toughness
Vit
Crit DMg
Prec
Cond dmg
Heal power

plz help WvW guru’s

okay, it is definitely not siegerazor, It was a player that took over the bottom right map of isle of janther borerlands. AND defending it by HIMSELF. he was not using renewed focus, killed me with hammer number 3 with one hit.

didn’t know there are multi tiered wvw..

we don’t have the best of gears but we can fight others fairly before and are wvw noobs but what happend was just op. This is not a troll post, we may be undergeared a little but this is ridiculous. Was hoping someone knew what they were doing.
