Where is Elona exactly? bottom right of the map next to Elon river? If an expansion was to add Elona wouldn’t they need to increase the World map?
They should add skritt and quaggan voices too, for a wide variety of voices. Some Rytlock voices would be nice too.
Or anywhere else for that matter.
Everyone has to start somewhere, and it would be very difficult for an inexperienced player to top the knowledge that’s been assembled over the past year by some of the top players. Benefit from their experience and learn to play the game well… then you can deviate and make your own educated playstyle decisions.
Info is ever changing with updates.. and knowledge? You mean what is the accepted in the meta kind of knowledge? To start from scratch I recommend mastering your dodge so you won’t die, then your class specific mechanic. Depending on feel of what you usually do outside of dodging and mastering your mechanic defines your own playstyle. Your playstyle determines your skills, weapons, which affects your traits. The resulting playstyle can be furthered by corresponding stats, which gives you an idea of your basic armor.
After all this you should already figure out some tricks for your profession, If not you then read other peoples guide ( understanding why they build it so ) and incorporating the ideas in your build ( get inspired ). If you still can’t figure out any neat combinations and tricks after that (and reading all descriptions). Then you probrably skipped some of the steps I explained.
You have people 3v1 and having that 1 winning because the 3 people fighting just skips all the logical steps to build their characters or blindly follows someone else’s build without realizing how to use it in the first place. There may be other reasons
(such as skipping the learning to dodge part) but those are the main ones.

It is best at this point to really experiment and experience the guardian class yourself. Everyone is sorta on their heads about what is the best, but nothing beats raw personal experience and judge for yourself increasing originality and diversity. This is how the new BEST comes out on top.
You can read guides for ideas but never take anyone of them seriously. This is where you can innovate.

Depends. Necro is far easier to play decently, thereby making it perfect for lazy people like me
Ele’s make for very challenging and engaging gaming, but are require more skill to play well due to them being very squishy.
Okaaaay.. I admit I’m lazy too and thus I pick necro… Especially when minion build is pretty decent now. (Even if I am a conditionmancer)

- There are people saying that it really isn’t Coercion and it isn’t that bad
= Problem is there is a bunch of people feeling it was being forced upon them to WvW, maybe they can do something or change something to make it feel less forced upon?
I don’t see any argument on this really, who are others to say that what you are feeling is incorrect? In a logical standpoint it is still forcing no matter how you look at it with ups and down. But just a subtle way of forcing in a indirect manner, that someone don’t HAVE to get full exploration and not get legendaries or a map fullfillment.
People can deal with it, but if I use this same subtle coercion to everyone on everything I can do (not saying Anet is doing it on everything but their actions affect many at once ) and ask them to deal with it, It really doesn’t promote healthy relationship and positive feedback on the matter.
-But looking at the other side of the spectrum It isn’t easy to get PvE people to actually want to go WvW without a small push in the general direction. (although the mapcompletion is more than a small push) What they need is a required light touch which they are still acquiring.

You aren’t being coerced to PvP, you’re overreacting. It’s like the monster under the bed. Once you get down and look under the bed you’ll see there’s no monster at all. Anet’s not trying to coerce you, there’s just too much hype and inaccurate hyperbole about it being some epic battleground when it’s really pretty much just another open world.
WvW maps are huge. Even on packed, competitive, large servers where the maximum amount of players are playing WvW you can completely avoid contact with other players for long stretches of time. Starting corners of the map are on a rotation so you’ll never have to get your realm to conquer an area to make it safe to explore*. If you want to completely avoid pvp combat you can just treat it as any other time gated activity in the game.
Side note: There’s no indication or reward for 100% map completion that’s strictly pve.
*bold part: This I’ve noticed is what a lot of people don’t realize when their heart stops upon hearing they have to explore in wvw to get their 100%.
We’re being coerced to WvW not PvP, and all you suggested shows we still must be in WvW not able to avoid it.
I really do believe ascended is the right move. However I also believe that it was intended to be in already but made it in late. I see Ascended as an in between where stats won’t matter much but it IS still an increase in stats to sate both sides of the spectrum. Also they will need infusions for agony resistance so Vertical progression players can continue going verticle in a diagonal way. They are now getting higher and higher agony resistance for fractals. Progressing verticle due to agony stats yet have little effect with most of the horizontal progressing players. I think it was designed rather well and that ascended is the last Tier.
Anything more then it would seem off.
wat abut the medium and heavey gear ? both of them was just as big off a disapointment as the light i mean medium is the sam as the mistwalker aka wvw gear and heaver not soure if it was the gladiator but it know for soure that gear as well already existed in the game … maby you shold remake them as well

Wreave I appreciate your long thought out post, however I do have a few issues.
1) I am not a PvP player, I am PvE with a taste of WvW basically I am one of the people who these metrics talk about I guess. Don’t PvE players also perpetuate this us vs them mind set by thinking all PvP players are mean or don’t don’t also do PvE content?
2) I don’t believe it could really be a complete surprise to anyone who made it all the way to 95% that WvW us involved this information is in many sources as stated by debs and quoted in this thread, as well as on the wiki or the forms.
3) you do get a reward for the percentage you complete as you already get a reward from each zone you complete. It’s not like you can get to 95% without getting any rewards.
4)I guess I can’t help but see people making threads about the same thing over and over again complaining, but I voiced my opinion and you have a right to yours good luck with your crusade. Even though the devs said they are never going to change it.
It’s funny cause my whole issue with this thread it’s I’m on the devs side, I don’t see why encouraging players to try new things and experience e this open middle ground as a bad thing. It makes the community more of a connected community with different ways to play and less of different games under the same title.
well, if you put it like that i agree players should be encouraged.. but they are forcing us.
Actually when the towers came Anet sort of bugged the Quest chains happening before the change that would draw people there.
As for why would we want new maps, I want our current maps to feel more eventful and “RICH” sorta like queensdale first. Even Queensdale isn’t as rich and eventful as I have hoped. (but its getting there)

I’m sorry to break it to you, but Anet has stated multiple times that their goal is to bring the playerbase together; more than likely, they’re going to try to encourage more overlap between PvE and PvP/WvW rather than less.
ArenaNet is naive if they think it’s good for the game to force players into PvP. Even sillier, it’s a mode (WvW) where you can either easily get in (odd hours, your server is losing) and get stuck in a queue (prime time or your server is winning). What fun — NOT.
Making PvP mandatory drives many people I know away from the game.
Actually it is sillier still since all they are doing is have WvW unfriendly vulnerable players running around feeding people that likes WvW and tear a rank gap between those that like WvW and people who don’t. Hence discouraging the people that doesn’t like WvW to dislike it further as they feel more distant and hard to catch up.

I really like PvE and WvW isn’t bad either but I just can’t get into sPvP. I’m not sure why but as soon as I hear that half wit sailor voice announcing sPvP it doesn’t feel like “game on” anymore, and overall ruins the experience for me. Now I know some people actually like it ( I think ), But why not have some different announcer voices? You can even sell them on the Gem Store. ( please no more Unreal Tournament announcer/ lines ).
Do you guys think this should be done? It would increase the merchandise for sPvP’s.

I actually think it is quite balanced right now, with enough condition duration REDUCTION, I feel quite inferior than my opponent. Especailly when you can stack around (or more) than 60% condition duration reduction. So we can only rely on stacking, which we can’t really stack too high with low duration. Not to mention stacking have a cap on it, and lets not forget normal condition removal means. All this and still I think it is balanced.

I prefer having the same amount of races as professions. Cosmetic and “collection” play a big part. Collecting isn’t as fun if your collecting the same things, and for me I’m collecting characters 1 race per profession.~
Like: Everything done before release (except hold on mouse camera)
Dislike: Everything done to it afterwards (except graphic updates)
isn’t the point of ascended armor is so you can choose your stats on it whenever? Or am I just getting the info wrong?
They might be able to make the combat more interesting if they have a particular “INTERACTIVE” combat gimmick for each class.
ex: ( just at the top of my head )
warrior – counter when you press 1 right when being hit
thief – shadowsteps to a different location when out of initiatives
Guardians – knockback if you press 1 everytime u block
something like that perhaps with some internal cd. So instead of pressing 1 all the time in zergs or rotating skills. .
From experience tapping a button give a sense of speed/ holding give a sense of pwoer/ timing give a sense of precision. You can use these to make combat feel more varied.
if only gw2 is like this lol, Then it can be moving towards a skilled game category to know what to do when to do it. With a sense of rhythm and finese

Same here, sadly when i left It was the beginning of 2013. now returning they are saying the same thing for 2014.
But jsut walking around i notice some graphic updates.
How about Secret tome’s containing secret skills that are slightly above avg in PvE. So you need to find them from specail monsters to earn them and require a few tasks to thoroughly learn and unlock a new skill? that way it feels like we are learning a new skill that we earned.

There is no ranger in this game. Closest thing we have to a Ranger is a Thief or Warrior using an Ember

Actually the addition of temporary content is apparently not so very popular with Arena net employees as well since they can’t create permanent masterpieces without it being trashed afterwards.
Imagine how much more bug fixes, content, and areas we got if they put all their time from the temporary living stories into full polishing of the game and adding permanent content. It would seem a LOT fuller than now for sure. with the living stories it seems they are working everyone to death, disagreed by anyone wishing progression, and disagreed with passionate map makers that wanted a permanent stay in their “art”
When I use this skill it says invulnerability so that stops me from taking any dmg at all/? such as condition, stuns, and everyhting else for 3sec?
However I keep getting killed durng the 3sec invulnerability. Is there some information regarding this skill or a bug im not aware of ?

This isn’t just happening in the living stories. Its all over the game, I for one am looking for BALANCE. However all “fight to win roles” are given to females and all wussy roles are males. Like someones opinion is seeping through all over this work of art that is gw2 and leaving a bad taste. The NPC of Harathi hinterlands captain that takes over the centaur camps are female, The female leaders of the Ogres, Vigil’s Efut and their leader, The Norn warmaster has always been soft and then killed off. Most memorable Seraphs are females, except the bad guys. Leader of the Order of Whispers another romance dog for ms. fairhair, Soma in frostgorge, and many other DE or MetaE’s all around. The only exception are Dredges… Which I don’t recognize any female ones.
all this talk about kind people are cheaters are being in the way of your FUN, well what if others think collecting achievements is “FUN” but not the race? Aren’t you ruining they’re FUN? This seems like an unreasonable post of someone being called out of a race by a couple of reasonable people and then came here to vent.
The environments for GW2 is absolutely beautiful~ and I have an idea to give it a more certain .. ambient, feel, atmosphere, story feel behind the places.
An example:
A large pond peaking through the leafless trees. As you follow the small pathways around the trees and branches reveals a large serene and quiet lake. Around the lake there are empty fishing gears, broken logs. As you go inside the lake and go closer there are strange markings and a lack of aquatic wildlife. At the bottom of the pond leads a long deep tunnel, the nest of ______ .
A small gradual reveal of a story in a map like that, In the maps I’ve seen so far has so much going on and clustered that it will be AMAZING to have such contrast. like the Catacombs in Plains of Ashford underground and The Worms Den at Wayfare’s foothills. Those underground passages can be very fleshed out for story and exploration! Like an Ice Worms labyrinth or multiple entrances of the catacombs that leads to the heart with an ominous secret ~.
I think with places like these it would make the overall game much more alluring and compelling to observe the fine details of the game more.
I do realize a bit of this is already in game but it is too clustered with other thing on the map or it is fleshed out just not enough to get to the full potential of the place and ambient it could of create.
~ Every living thing communicates and everything dead tells a story, As true in real life I believe it is also in a game~

I must agree to the other posts, they are a different RACE. There is no different or same proportion. Because they are not HUMANS. They can have a neanderthal post human proportion.
As Skins are now it does make sense. The changes you mentioned are all already applied if you look at the character creation screen of both male norns and humans.
As for females the skeletal structures are already different with exaggerated bone grooves. Only complaint I have really is that human females have only 1 size regardless of how big seems very similar. But i guess it needs to be to make the norns pop out that much more.
This is leagues better than the halloween rng weapon skins.. TRUST me.
don’t forget Analyze is nerfed with maximum 5 stacks on weakness instead of 10
Or alternatively you can have an ongoing short fuse running while holding a bomb for the Bomb kit animation ~ its better than the confusing explanation of bomb kit up there.

Are people forgetting that the last big balance patchnotes were leaked nearly a week before release aswell, and turned out to be on the money?
Someone is getting these patchnotes out, we know this happens. And these look to clean and specific to be made as a joke by some fan.

If they make it all permanent we are limiting the possibilities of newer better contents. THERE is a limit to content on map y’know? just imagine every map has atleast 1 living story in it with dynamics and all the stuff that is going on.. server would just crash if they keep supplying without taking them away; just a massive overload..
for the items available to the living story it would be nice to have 1 easily attained item that is temporary so reward people from being there. The rest of the items you can get can go into a library of Ca$h eitems. yes make a library
burning condition is timed so just burn more enemies rather than breathing down 1 guys neck. Its possible to achieve very high burning uptime to a group of people if specced for burning but ultimately im not sure guardian condition focused build is that good. Conditions for guardian seems only effective for me when you pepper it onto whatever your doing.
If I am not mixing guardian with other classes.. then the power trait tree is also condition duration? if that is true you can do a burning retaliation build since you can have longer burning time with retaliation that does more dmg since it scales with power. * If I am mixing guardian with anotehr class then oops* ..
