i meant as a weapon instead of skill. Throwing a sword is weird, its not the big game hunter character I was hoping for.

i read 1 , 2 .. and I said exactly. like a hunter with his rifle, what you think guns must only appear in urban areas ? a big game hunter is plenty of guns and nature combined. which is what im tryign to go for.

- should have more range weapons than melee
-should have rifles and pistoles as usable

Rangers should be able to use long ranged weapons, there are more melee weapons for rangers to use than long range. I would love to be able to use rifles.

I agree, even with a top grade ergonomic mouse my hand would still cramp and wear itself * perhaps creating muscle tears / I’m a really casual player*. It has become a health hazard especially for people with computer related occupations. I can only imagine the majority with bad mouses.

Well, if this is true hospitals would be packed. I’m saying its taking away from the limited realism this game has.

@Coltz: I always welcome constructive criticism. Otherwise how do we refine our abilities and skills. But theres a few things I’d like to point out…
I barely even played guild wars 1, so Im not familiar with the lore. If I understood the lore behind the weapons, then I’d make them more fitting of that theme. I wasnt thinking about redesigning the current legendary weapons (cause some people obviously like the current designs) but just creating some new ones. But then there would be the issue of the lore behind the new designs.

As for anatomy… I have studied it, and I know my drawings arent perfect anatomy wise. It all comes from my head, what lines and shapes I find appealing… Basicaly, its my style that Ive developed. The anatomy of my drawings is almost perfect… But I tweak em a little to suit my taste. Look at artists like Tod Mcfarlane for example. His characters, while anatomically correct, have certain lines and proportions to them that make them instantly identifiable as his work. Thats basicaly the same thing I do. Im heavily influenced by good old Tod if you havent guessed lol. Thats the only two things I wanted to point out.
And yeah, I know it should be a three point view if it was actualy going to be used as concept art. But all I was doing was a basic example to give a basic idea. Its how I start with all my designs. Mainly because I can look at the “2D” drawing and I know exactly how all the proportions are, cause I know exactly how I work, know what I mean?

But Im interested in your last 2 points… How is there a perspective issue? And what do you mean by a step by step process? Having a concept design that is “bare bones” only showing the shape and proportions, and then having another that elaborates on it more showing more detail?
If it was a design that I was actualy going to have made, or was actualy going to be used in a game or something, then I would do the initial drawing like I have done of that sword, just to have an image to refer to. Then I would do a 3 point perspective version of it, before moving on to an exploded sketch of all the parts from different perspectives to show the proportions and shapes with measurements.

@alcopaul: Aye, I did think that was a bit strange… They are like a “jack of all trades” weapon lol. But then again, if its just something you get for the skin, I guess it doesnt realy matter, seeing as how people would just transmute their preferred stats onto it.

I don’t even know why I bother, I guess I like to show you the window of what it would be like if you pursuit this profession. The process is showing how it is molded from your mind to paper, from mind to what it will be. Working for other people is different than working by yourself. GW2 isn’t your personal project * i don’t think* so when I would work FOR someone I will adapt my art style to what is required. If someone hired you to make a snoopy comic, are you going to make it all batman like?

Unless your the creative director, art director, and animator, and everything. You must work in the realms of what is given. As this is a suggestion it wouldn’t make sense to pass of an idea without proper research.

If, however for an example you are working at something that is to be a part of something bigger such as GW2 in this case. The “manager” won’t be able to looks deeply into your mind and perspective… for everyone. This person would need to look at a LOT of designs and work from many different artists with their own style trying to design something fitting the VISION inside the directors mind. So to make it easier on t he guy managing everything, even the roughs needs to be 3d-like 3 point perspective to quickly show a visual representation ( which should really be more of a representation now ) and a step process from paper to what it may look like in a 3d model/ animated in the computer.

In any line of work you must think of everyone and not just your part. Cause everyone works as a team/ unit / family.

Battered up would be pretty cool. Slowly tearing off unrealistically revealing all the wrong places? Please NO,

I grinded a lot of Tot bags from clocktower. Also getting an awesome item once, kills the replay value of this skill based event. Why would Anet make something with no repetitive value? clock tower will come back every halloween, perhaps with different loot and it is only once a year, scarced enough for people to be playing it and constantly visiting. But a random skill based event that only gives something good your first try wouldn’t appeal to me a second try. Also it seems like a lot of work for an event with such a short lifespan. Not worth it.

There are bags in WvW when I kill stuff?. … When is this update implemented?

Getting hacked could be Anets fault, If a hacker starts phishing for info from the typed log in accounts for forums. a seperate PIN number for a bank is a good way to make things harder for the hacker it seems.

The quest for power in traditional MMOs is a problematic one because “power” can exist through different means. In classic Rome two concepts could give “power”:

On the other hand, a legendary item shows Auctoritas. You had the power and perseverance to explore, earn money, earn karma, be a master crafter and get a guild on dungeon and WvW runs. Legendaries show a mastery of all areas of the game, and because of that demand respect, even though it doesn’t increase your absolute power in numbers.

I agree, but I think they should fix the visual glitch of losing hair when a head accessory applied. Or else there is nothing to dye when we put on our witch hats..

Perhaps a barber NPC in each main city for changing hair colours and styles?

The only reason that I had for considering making one was because I thought “well, at least it will have higher damage and better stats…”
But nope, they are just animated skins… I dont even like the skins. Well, of the greatswords anyway.
I cant believe that the only benefit of all that hard work is aesthetic… And even then the aesthetics suck.
One of my fave hobbies is weapon and armor designing. Ive been studying arms and armor since I first learnt to draw… I’ll do you some truly legendary designs that you can use in the game for FREE, just to see some good looking legendaries in this game… But only if you bump up the stats on legendaries to reflect their legendary status. This is a serious offer Im making… Custom sword/knife makers have shown interest in my designs, so I am offering some high quality work… Get in touch and let me know if you are interested, and I’ll do you 2 or 3 designs of a couple of weapon types to show you what I can do. But Im not gonna waste my time doing designs to show you unless you say your interested.
Im honestly shocked and majorly disappointed at how poorly legendaries have been implemented…

Anyways, I’ll attach a couple of examples of my work. They are only simple concept designs, but it should give you an idea of what I can do. I can churn out weapon designs non stop, and i can go from authentic looking weapons to full on fantasy weapons.
The sword design attached is inspired by the eastern “Nagimaki” which is basicaly the merging of a katana, and a naginata (a pole arm with a short katana/saber style blade)
The Nagimaki itself is in effect a greatsword. My design was basically a “dark elf” styled version of it.
Bare in mind these designs were quick concept designs, quick sketch’s. The quality of a final piece would be greater than what I have shown here, as I specialize in high detail art work as you can see in the armor design. Unfortunately I lost most of my old designs when I moved house, so I dont have many more to show.
(you’ll have to forgive the poor image quality of the armor design, it was the only pic i could find of it.)

Here are some constructive criticisms, you seem to be very proud of your art there and I’m glad of that. Here are some character developments / animation / visual art pointers.

- Characters and weapons of GW2 should most of the time be in the same theme as the given lore created in GW2

- rough works should look a LOT more professional than that, I get chewed out if I hand that in as any rough suggestion.

- In character design, anatomy is a huge one. you said you studied hands a lot so i am assuming that you know the finger tips and the bottom 2 joint segments have the same length, your whole finger and your palm has the same length, and the thumbs would pivot perfectly to the bottom line of your fingers. Arm and the bottom of your foot is also the same length etc etc. your anatomy needs some refining.

- When presenting artwork of character and weapon design, it should be displayed in a three point view.

- You also have a perspective problem in your drawings.

- a step by step process sketch is also required. " High details, should always be last"

Well, let’s start with those first. Otherwise it is a very nice representational abstract pictograph.

*I feel the legendary weapons should have a special perk ( not visual ) added instead of a simple state change. Perhaps a more variety of legendaries to compensate a wider audience.

Could Engineer’s turrets have race unique skins? Its really off putting when Asuras the technologically advanced race is making handcranked human/norn machines. (doesn’t look Char design, not enough metal and gear/ engravings)

This one must of be one of the more unique ones. Here is a helmet that changes my face to that of all the NPC Chars with the same helmet on.

Race: Char
Gender: Male
Armor: Char Cultural Armor Tier 2
Legion Visor

When I put the Tier 2 Legion Visor on, my characters face changes into an orange / red char with blue eyes. My Char character’s face is blue and white and have completely different features.

Here are is a side view image that shows the sudden change from blue fur to orange scales. This is one of the best looking helm/armor in the game, hope this gets a looked at and perhaps changes.

well I read that and did the research, But I couldn’t get started at all. I want to try crafting “The Crossing” but I don’t see what I need for it and where it says so in game. All I see is sigils of the night and other sigils etc etc. but I can;t seem to find a recipe for “The Crossing” anywhere in game.

I’m beginning to see new players on GW2 now, and they’re the kind that refuse to res anyone, doesn’t talk — if spoken to they will maybe use 2 words, solo players treating this like a single player game.

What happend to the community? I see more bots are running rampant as well.

I agree to this, however these things should always be thought of already before game creation. Even making Websites, and E-books, is now standard to tend to the disabled.

Oh, town clothes has its own set of skills.

Minor rewards in places that is harder to get too sounds good. The suggestion made me laugh for some reason.

Is there really a demand? I rarely see anyone with town clothes.

I’m heavily against any kind of group exp sharing mechanism, with or without a multiplier.

Moot case here: 5 staff elementalists AEing farming on the opposite side of the Orr tunnel, versus a group of 5 players working together in the same area. If there is exp sharing the elementalist group would gain xp much faster; if loot is distributed (a la wow) the group would end up with more loot from 1x to 5x depending on the design.

Grouping is good; grouping because you are screwed for not grouping is bad.

There is no reason why a player who wants to look sexy can not do so. The OP is not asking for nudity. They are simply asking for players to not all be forced to wear trench-coats. Medium and Heavy sets have basically one or 2 pieces that you see the vast majority of players running around in, because they clearly look best and are the most sexy.

Some people will never understand that just because someone likes to look good, does not make them a deviant. There is no nudity, nor is there any sexual situations whatsoever in this game. Asking for a player to be given the ability to wear a bikini top or a skimpy short skirt is not asking for too much. Even the light armor in this game has very little to offer in the way of skimpy clothes, most are much more conservative that a lot of women wear out to clubs theese days.

People need to get down with the idea that it is no longer 1952 and the world is not as black and white when it comes to skimpy clothes as it once was.

I think the smart move would be to have everything suggested, or just enough to keep the wider target audience. Personally I think the armor available already is plenty sexy, Having less clothing won’t always make something MORE sexy. I still prefer the logic of the more armor the more protection, but that doesn’t mean any less sexy than armor in other games.

I think one group is talking about the party being an issue because not everyone is getting exp when everyone perform a hit on the same mobs. ( = glitch perhaps? )

and the other group thinks that because of the nerfed mesmer class the dmg dealt is the reason why the wife is falling behind and not the party system being the reason.

So, the issue is not trying to get the wife to said level, it is the possible glitch that not everyone i recieving proper exp. Since it has been tested it is now being SUGGESSTED in the forums.

So from this point of view I am seeing a couple being attacked because they want to suggest a fix or an investigation of some sort. And people are misunderstanding and in turn creating an argument; yes?

this suggestion is rather silly, imagine a charr riding on a centaur or a centaur swimming trying to balance his head up cause of his weird 90degrees arch ( they’re just spin ). Where would the riders hold the centaurs? waist? neck? arms? anywhere else?..

I would agree to this but each race should automatically have different skins. It is only if you want a preferred skin from another race you can get it from the gem store.

how about we have a sheathing system?
You can unsheath your weapon and be in combat mode and you can do all the stuff you can do now.

and when combat is over you can unsheath and have an interactive system for you to interact with each other and npc’s or even enviroments.

I agree, I prefer controller controls to have a smoother experience.

Mesmers feel like they have low DPS, but its just an illusion since the hp is going away by bits at the same rate as other classes “burst” damage. ( which I can also do for high dmg )

That is why I made my Asuran Engineer. To my great disappointment the machiones you built as an asuran is still handcranked and extremely LOW tech. really messed up the high tech feel of an asuran.

Dude your cray. lol. A bot is just a program that does all your work for you. Using one does not mean that you magically have programming ability, and having program ability doesn’t immediately grand you the prowess you need to hack a person’s account. If you have any idea what they’d actually have to be able to do to get your account information, then you know that’s not going to happen.

The person who programmed the bot MIGHT have the know how, but what do they care if a person who bought their program gets banned? They have their money. But the guy using the bot can’t hurt you that way, believe me.

Gold sellers use botters to farm and sell/make gold. Hackers get accounts and sell to botters for money yes? So if specially empowered accounts is there, Won’t they be in higher demand for the gold sellers/ botters to know whats up? Im not talking about the minor 1 – 2 bots farming. Im talking about the (seems like ) a bot factory for purpose of gold selling. I’ve seen before a group of 16 bots running as one annihlating and dominating a whole area. Preventing DE’s and heart quests in that whole area.
