If you are bored then try something else for a while. Then come back to play after a bit (or don’t, depending on your preference). I think people are really looking for that carrot to keep playing. It’s not really that type of game.
Need? No. Want? Possibly.
There is nothing you need that is from the gem store.
Part of the fun of a Legendary is showing it off. And you can’t really do that with the underwater weapons. Which is a shame since I find the trident to be the best looking legendary in the game.
Well now that you know, can’t you equip some utility skills to counter the cc beforehand in anticipation of it all?
mini games isn’t content?
They could make this a lot better by making the amount of vouchers you get dependent on how much you bet, example: bet 10s winner gets ~2 tickets instead of 7, but if you bet 50s winner gets the full 7
yep, more similar to real gambling in that the more you gamble the higher the potential return is
Way too expensive for me. This is one mini game that I won’t touch.
it would be nice if they were a bit more random so it’s not always the same I guess
I’m going to assume that they will tweak all of the events once this part of the living world episode is over.
WoW sure is an ugly looking game.
Nah; just old. Like a faded photograph or tarnished penny. Back when it was new it was down right beautiful, but standards change and technology progresses. Doesn’t make it ugly; just….old.
eh maybe, I always thought it looked ugly, like really repulsive
Honestly I think everyone would rather have WoW quests over how GW2 does it, there is barely any lore attached to hearts and dynamic events, stuff just… happens.
You mean everyone as in just yourself? Then you’d be correct.
I cannot go back to normal quests ever again. If a game has normal quests then they have to have some sort activity or something along with it like voice overs. But static kill ten rats quests that you get a from a pop up box? Hell no.
WoW sure is an ugly looking game.
easy fix.
additional stacks after 25 stacks converts it directly into direct damage. everyone is happy!
If they can’t do individual stacks then I would go for this.
I too am interested in wildstar. I am curious though why people think wildstar which is a NCsoft game will have any less problems attributed to the parent company than GW2 which is a NCsoft game? Am I missing something?
you can’t really compare Anet to Carbine, happy meal to a steak dinner…NCsoft knows this. Just do a side by side of what these two groups have done w/their product & in years of development for release.
but it’s real nice to see all those rng gw2 supporters open their wallets to help pour money in WS & ncsoft =).
Did I miss something? Has Wildstar released yet?
On a first casual appearance, looks like a straight up wow clone, even the same art style.
The very first thing I did when I first started playing was disable auto-targeting. Never had the problems stated in this thread.
Now I have issues with right click targeting and dropped targets but that is a different story.
don’t you think there could be quite a bit of griefing if open world duels is put in?
I’d like to see some sort of arenas put in, maybe in the cities (Lions Arch seems like the perfect place for it) and in those places you could have duels setup.
well unfortunately it looks like they won’t be changing their policy on this anytime soon. If you believe the data mined information then the next update (Dragon Bakitten looks like) will have another RNG box with skins in there.
Ugh, so sick of this crap.
Yeah, there really should be a place where you can have a mini stored on your character other than just your bags.
In general I find the minis to be a terrible waste. Unless they plan to do something in the future with them
Polymock by chance?
I’d say that the biggest problem is that there are so many achievements tied to the game. I don’t think it’s that bad but that it has more importance than it should have.
I got one the first day the patch hit. I thought then it wouldn’t be so bad. 2 weeks later I haven’t seen another one yet.
Well I love the mini-games so I’m all for them adding more.
But I already play the game so I’m guessing your post isn’t for me.
Interesting. It’s one of my favorite armors just because it’s a bit understated.
well it’s true that Blizzard is huge, it has 4,700 employees compared to ArenaNet’s 300
although I contest that dailies and raids (for non raiders) are significant content
hmm, never had that delay in response time, wryscher
I play a staff elementalist as well and I often will quickly swap to the reflection skill while the enemy’s projectile is in the air. It works instantly and seamlessly for me (my favorite ability against the karka).
They are not planning an expansion because they’re focusing on polishing out the do’s and don’ts for the Living Story.
As for the money, there was a lot of talk about an NCSoft earnings report that stated that there had been enough cash flow to warrant an expansion.
This is false information. What happened was that incoming revenue for GW2 dropped sharply (as in more than 30%) in the first quarter of 2013. As a consequence, an NCSoft official told media that an expansion was being planned, not as a conclusion that sales were strong enough to justify one, but the other way around: that an expansion would help bring up falling sales. That being said, the sales figures were that from January to March of 2013, GW2 still brought in more than 33 million U.S. dollars for Anet/NCSoft… Its speculation on my part, but to me the numbers suggest that most of that money came from gem sales, (as otherwise it would equate to something like half a million near players) and the earning report does mention sharply decreasing “box” sales for GW2.
Basically anyone who was going to buy the game has pretty much bought it already.
I see no pros with a subscription fee
Is this the only mmo you have ever played?
Play Lineage 2 and then we’ll talk.
As has been pointed out plenty of times before, it is this way in every single mmorpg out there. The mid level zones are always sparsely populated especially after the game has been out for a bit. Even the most popular mmorpg in the world has this problem.
Didn’t they say that before the game was released that they were trying to eliminate RNG to as little as possible?
Har har, ArenaNet, I guess the joke is on us.
I do think they should eliminate the achievement alltogether if you are no longer able to complete it. As a completionist it bugs the heck out of me that it is there at 4/5 with no way to finikitten.
Edit: ok hold up, why is the forum sensoring finish…..it
I’ve only had one drop with 450-503% magic find. I’m starting to hate this game.
Same here. If there is one thing that is making me really dislike the game it is the RNG boxes involved.
Who is this guy that made this video? Some celebrity youtuber?
Maybe the OP plays on a Mac?
I really don’t understand how we could have so little done to the game with such a large team. Anet has been very quiet about their plans, which makes me think we are going to see(hopefully soon) a blog post that will blow us away. Maybe they have 100 people working on a project that’s been going on since before release.
300 employees doesn’t equal 300 devs, though. There’s a Q&A department which just tests stuff. There people who answer phones. There’s people who do admin stuff. There’s marketing people. And of course artists and programmers. The programmers would be spread out. I seriously doubt the guys working on SPvP work on WvW and neither probably works on PvE.
So yeah, a lot of people, but it’s not surprising that progress is made incrimentally.
I do understand that, but it still seems like things are happening slowly. I’m mainly looking at you living story.
Trion is said to have about 200 employees, have you checked their patch notes on rift? They are also maintaining more than one mmo. They were recently hit with layoffs, so we will have to see how that affects them.
Trion has to have way more than 200 employees. As a comparison, Blizzard has 4,700 employees.
I have learned my lesson with the boxes/keys during the Halloween content. Never again and I curse the person who invented gambling boxes for mmorpgs (you can’t find a free to play mmo that doesn’t have them).
Seems to be fairly decent on Yak’s Bend. Only places that I rarely see people would be the Iron Marches and Timberline Falls (my favorite area in the game). But otherwise I always see people around.
I hate jumping
Puzzle quest’s, fracts jumping, dungeon jumping, pvp jumping.
In gw1 we couldn’t jump, but now a-net adds it to gw2 and makes a huge huge deal about it, it is like they discovered the wheel.
A-net we get it we really do, we can jump in gw2 now /yey
enough already pls, pretty pls, pls with sugar on top.
I think of jumping puzzles (I actually like them) as a sort of punishment for all of those folks who complained that you couldn’t jump in GW1.
What made monsters in Guild Wars 1 more interesting was that they were in groups and they had synergy together along with group tactics. If you took them as individuals they would be just as mundane as it is in Guild Wars 2.
I prefer squad based games in large part because they can make more interesting encounters with it.
AoC Fatalities
Oh yeah, possibly one of my favorite features ever.
Also from GW1
Build templates that you can swap out with no hassle
Costumes
from WoW
limited loading screens from traveling zone to zone. If there was one thing I missed from that game it would be this.
I find it rather amazing how few times people try remove the boons off of them.
if you consider yourself too busy with farming for that, really, useless legendary skin to even say HELLO, then you are doing it WRONG. Really, I don’t care how busy you are – It takes you like, 2 seconds to type “hi
” if someone says hello – You ALWAYS have enough time for that, it works for me, and it can work for YOU too.
I’ll try to remember that next time I’m swamped with Risen, Minotaurs, Centaurs, Flame Legion, or Karka.
Hmmm kill this mob or say hi then die… :p
It seems like every time I get someone from my friends list messaging me it is right in the middle of the fight. At least most of them tend 5 minutes or so to wait before asking if anything is wrong.
Ha, that reminds me of yesterday. I stopped to answer a query in map chat and right as I’m typing my second word a Reef Drake appeared and killed me in a couple of seconds.
Does Magic Find actually affect the crate drop rate?
The RNG chests/lock boxes are in every free to play mmo under the sun now, better get used to it. Do I like it? Hell no. I refuse to buy them even though I’ll never get the cool looking items. If there is one thing I really despise about this game it is the RNG.
YES I can confirm! An expansion will be released July 20th!!!
I also have various bridges in Brooklyn and some primo land in Florida for sale if anyone is interested!
Ocean view? I’ll take it!
He forgot to mention the trolls under the bridges, of which there are many :P
Leave it to the forum community to read an article and have 30 different views of what it means ^^ We are a very analytic bunch.
I just hope the majority of those don’t work in the financial market
It is really amazing how people manage to get so much information out of one quote even if people get completely different and contradictory information.
Heh, too true. It’s almost as bad as the comments in the Massively article with the same topic.
I don’t think we should be arguing over whether or not content is “hard” or if we need “elite” dungeons. I think we should be asking for more interesting fights.
Moving from a trinity requires a different kind of boss/champion fight from most MMOs, and it needs to be something other than one-hit kills and giant amounts of health, in my opinion.
Encounter design is definitely an issue. I do think they are getting better at it though. They are learning to make encounters with a non trinity setup just like we are learning to play without one.
there are raids in GW2, just not instanced raids
Yeah I know what UP is, I just was puzzled at the idea that warriors are underpowered.
Warriors UP what?
Anyway, just log back on and see for yourself.
I’d like it to be darker. LOTRO had the best night times in an mmo and it was very dark there.
However, I’d first like to see the day/night synchronized between all of the zones.
