Are you trying to insinuate that TERAs combat is inferior to GW2? GW2 has everything else on TERA but its combat.
Tera roots characters on any skill that is non-instant. That alone makes it inferior.
Indeed. I can’t stand Tera’s combat because of that. Actually I can’t play mmos that restrict your movement in combat anymore since I’ve started playing GW2.
I quite like the combat
Except for the ranger sword 1 skill. But otherwise I enjoy the combat a lot.
Its a very fun game and it just keep getting better as time goes on. If any thing ppl are not leaving you may have some ppl get bored from time to time but they do come back after an update and this is how GW1 was the big thing about GW2 is there are things like WvW that keeps major pop. playing every day.
Any way these is one of these at least once a week please read the forums for the other threads like this and post there. There not much reason to make a new one every time you feel you need to make some weird declaration to no one.
The reason these posts re-occur is because people feel like they have been robbed of their previous experiences or even mislead to some degree. We are concerned for the game because we are loyal and hope that at some stage we could come to thoroughly enjoy the game once again if there is a chance that the things that were true to Guild wars, are implemented in some way.
We all bought Guild wars 2 because we all loved Gw1. The reputation was there and we went along with it until we realized how drastically different it actually was.
These threads have a place on the forum because it raises concern. If we didn’t care, we wouldn’t waste our time writing here.
We? Glad you could speak for all of us there chief.
Cantha was my favorite area in Guild Wars as well.
It looks like NCSoft has a lot more development say on ArenaNet than I thought. A shame that.
Yeah I don’t think I’ll ever touch a dungeon now. Seems to happen in every mmo nowadays as well. mmos just suck in general
Yeah they are a pain in the butt. However, I liked the challenge. Almost my whole time nowadays in the open world I have no real fear of dying or losing. While I still don’t think I’ll die to the pack of molten alliance plus the periscope, at least it provides for a good fight.
My Necromancer eats them up for breakfast.
Investigation missions in TSW were great fun, I wish GW2 had something like these. Visually TSW was hit and miss for me. I liked the environments and creature design but the character models and combat animations were atrocious. The non-levels of TSW is a bit deceiving as it really had a hidden level progression in gear quality level. I much prefer the down scaling of GW2 to that. Combat in GW2 is miles better than TSW although I do enjoy the skill trees in TSW (even though the majority of them are the same just with different weapon flavors).
I do think TSW is an underrated game but I much prefer the gameplay of GW2. I will say that I am very happy that they have adopted the buy to play model.
I have over 800 hours or so playing. I actually got an Abyss dye in my very first hour of playing. I haven’t seen one since.
Not a fan of all of the risen, although it’s much more manageable now since they nerfed the areas.
But I actually do really like the zones themselves. It is really fantastic looking. I would love to have some sort of time travel device to see the areas in their full splendor.
aren’t gnomes those things you put in your garden?
how are sylvari pretty much elves?
elves are so boring, same with dwarves and orcs
give me the Charr, Asura, and Cabbage patch kids any day
I have tried using it several times, to no success. It is way too limited to really be of use.
I find that you can always put everything into a nice little box, there is no grey area, it’s always black and white.
Every mmo that has ever existed has a problem with barren mid level areas.
then don’t do this part of the monthly?
It’s a serious game for serious people.
ArenaNet has always done these kinds of light hearted stuff.
As far as humans being the most popular player race, it’s that way in every single game.
I like it. It gives a different feel from other mmos. Temporary content breathes a bit of life into a static world. While it’s not quite like having a GM changing the world for you it does have similar themes to that.
Now hopefully there will be more permanent changes to the world as a consequence of this story, then it really will feel like a living story. And if they keep on doing that every month, it will make for a much more engaging game than if you wait for 6-8 months at a time for a big patch that adds some daily hubs.
Well technically there is a LFG tool.
It’s not any good but saying there isn’t one is false.
At the current gem to gold conversion rate, that Twilight will only set you back $1993
If you have that kind of money to frivolously spend on a video game, then be my guest. Doesn’t bother me in the least.
Best mmo I’ve played? For sure, although I’m still waiting for a great sandbox mmo to come out.
Best game? Well I’m not really an mmo fan so I’d say no. It’s a great game but I just prefer single player games.
I enjoy playing but yeah the RNG is pretty terrible.
Maybe not as bad as Aion was but it’s still pretty bad. I will say that at least in a power progression way it’s not really a factor.
Flame and Frost feels more old school to me. You actually have to walk around and talk to people. And yeah, I don’t think it’s brilliant content. It’s filler content while the bigger stuff gets worked on.
But it’s fine. The two new instances are fun, you can run them once a day, get some extra karma, and just have fun with it.
Not sure I see the problem here, unless people were expecting totally awesome events for free on a monthly basis.
I remember Rift. Every month they’d come out with a new event that had new currency, that you could cash in for nonsense. Every month. One event would hang around until the next event came out. Some of it was okay. Most of it was annoying as hell. It was just another form of daily. By the end of the month you couldn’t wait for it to go away…and then they’d replace it with the next one.
Eventually Rift has some time to add new content and they did. The same will happen with Guild Wars 2. Until then, what we get is filler content.
To expect more from a monthly upgrade is probably unreasonable.
Considering that ANet has said that they are forgoing any current plans for an expansion in favor of the living story idea, I think it makes sense for them to put the same effort into the living story as they would an expansion. If they think it is a better investment to do that for free rather than working on a paid expansion, that is their problem.
Considering this game’s a complete disaster in terms of sales and player retention the expansion more than likely was canceled due to lack of funds.
Thanks for posting your sources and information to back up your claims. You definitely showed us just how brilliant you are.
Two million sales and the fact they’re officially offering free transfers shows exactly how brilliant I am. Two million is pathetic for an MMO at launch these days, especially since successful new MMOs have a 50% player retention rate, GW2’s retention rate being somewhere in the order of 20-25%.
Besides, if the game was successful they wouldn’t be basing server populations on accounts tied to server. It would be based on active players.
3 million have been sold
And can we have a source on all of your numbers? Or is the source in your imagination?
If your just going to use a guide to complete content then your doing away with all the lore. Part of lore is finding it your self if you just wanted it to be handed to you as “dead” lore then i suggested you just keep to reading books. In games and GW2 we have “living” lore the type that is just not simply handed to you you must look for it from the npc mobs and environment.
ANet fault for making the previous parts pure “search needle in haystack” quests that pushed people to use guides immediately.
No, it’s really what the playerbase is nowadays. They are content locusts. They want it like a McDonalds drive through, as quick as possible with everything leading you by the nose.
I thought the trinity was Warrior, Guardian, Mesmer?
Anyway, for a traditional trinity in this game? No, just no. Nothing would make me leave the game faster than adding that in.
a linked chat across all of the cities would be nice too
Indeed they could really use some improvements for the in game tools that they have (or don’t have)
Hehe
Yeah I made a mistake. Still my first point still stands though. Find a good compatible guild can be difficult.
Finding a good guild is a lot harder than it would seem. I’ve been trying for 6 months to no avail.
It might help if there was a central place for guilds to advertise on the official forums.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/guilds
not sure if serious post, tho.
i’m not sure what you are talking about
who did you quote?
Indeed they should put some events in the cities. I would think the refugee camps from the living story would be a perfect opportunity to do this. And then perhaps add in some of the minigames they promised and I believe that would help out.
capes just get you killed anyway
mid level areas in mmos are always empty
not sure why you are having trouble soloing the events though. the only ones in which you should have difficulty are the group events with the champions. And usually those can be completed if you give a shout out in map chat for it.
I blame the Charr
Another what if thread?
It doesn’t have subscription. It would be designed differently if it did. You cannot play the what if game here.
the temples always seem to be contested, if you are looking for group content then why don’t people do them?
the dragons and other group events (besides Orr) are just zergy loot pinatas. hopefully the upcoming loot changes will alter that a bit
Reminds me a bit of AoC and their promises of bar fights.
I hope they at least put in Polymock or something like that eventually.
I’d love to have one. I bet they could make a spectacular looking environment.
Race change is a key feature of modern MMO’s. It needs to be there.
I don’t know many mmos that have this feature. I can think of only one that has it.
I very much doubt it. Since the personal story is tied to your race it would create all kinds of problem to have a race change feature.
The introduction and continuation of ascended gear (and the associations that goes with that, ie guild missions and such) has really turned this game into a typical wowish mmo. Certainly a big departure from the original guild wars. I enjoy the game still, especially the combat and the visuals, but I really don’t like the current direction of the game.
I’m convinced that if you gave gamers a million dollars they would still complain about it, why wasn’t it a million and one.
There are some things worthy to complain about (i.e. culling) but this is certainly not one of them.
it is a bit buffed but I have more of an issue of the pve culling than I do with the event being “over” buffed
that lab event near Tequatl caught me off guard yesterday. I hadn’t done it in a while and ventured over there when I saw the DE pop up. Bam, instant death, didn’t even see any mobs due to the pve culling. When they finally rendered I saw three champions and at least 6 or 7 veterans in addition to the regular mobs. I’m all for increased difficulty but that one seems a bit excessive.
so easy, but yeah a nice variation
What I’d like to see them do is expand the monthly like they did with the daily
Absolutely not. Taunt is the most ridiculous ability in all mmos.
No there won’t.
maybe he is talking about the controls?
