why can’t they just have this in game? GW1 had something almost exactly like this
I just don’t understand why it isn’t in yet
Why not make all of the cities chat connected? I think that would help at least.
Gated content and stat grind creates inclusive and poisonous communities? Not surprised
Indeed. One of the things I loved about GW1 was that even if I took an extended break I never felt left behind, at least in a power progression sense. I thought GW2 would be the same, turns out to not be the case.
Well no, it doesn’t bother me. In fact I’d say the art style is the game’s greatest strength. I’ve never seen a better visual mmo and that is all due to the art (which is different than graphics, don’t confuse the two).
Well why does it have to be either/or?
I choose option C
…neither
I haven’t left yet. I’d like to see them get rid of the instances. The best part of the game is the open world. Now it seems to have more of a focus on the dungeons and gear. I don’t play other mmos because of that. If this game turns into that (and it seems to be heading into that direction) then I’ll just quit mmos for good.
You could see this coming from a mile away. The only way you can’t have prejudice is to have everyone equal, all of the time. Anytime there are differences, it can even just be perceived differences, then you will have people being selective. It is up to the designers of the game to try to mitigate that but it will always be there sadly.
If they continue with this monthly event style pacing, the game will be quite alive for a good while longer.
I’ve enjoyed quite a few things in GW2. But I have to say I find GW1 a superior game.
As much as we’d like to blame the player community on this, it was entirely predictable. A large part of the “blame”, for the lack of a better word, is on the developers. They created this system as it is.
Absolutely no way for the trinity. It’s one of the reasons why I was so interested in the game. If they changed everything and put it in, I’d be out.
Now what I do think is that they should emphasize combos a bit more. That is one avenue to utilize in order promote team work.
ITT People assuming the worst based off a very small trickle of information
Well perhaps they should have put out an informational blog before giving out vague statements to the press first.
It would have curtailed a lot of this angst (or maybe not, depending on what the ascended gear really is).
It’s fairly empty, or at least it seems to be. But when a DE comes up there always seems to be people gathering around for it, maybe not right at the start but I usually see at least 5 or 6 by the time it finishes. For the big events there usually is always quite a few people.
How will it be a few months from now? Not sure but every mmo has very low pops in the leveling zones after a while (especially in the mid level zones, they seem to be the most sparsely populated in every mmo).
much prefer wvw than dungeons personally
means I won’t be getting this monthly done but whatever, it’s just a game
Take a break from the game. Play some other stuff for a while and maybe the itch will come to you to play again. And if not? Just view it like you do with other single purchase games.
I’ve taken 2 and 3 day breaks from here and came back roaring to go. The gameplay has really spoiled me in that I can’t play any other mmo.
On Halloween. Will it be some Mad King says fun? I’m hoping we will have to type in the emote rather than have our skill bars change.
I think he might be referring to a GW1 Assassin, which the Thief does have a lot of similarities to.
I might be the only one in the forums who actually finds this game mode fun.
I think the majority have found it fun. I do, for one. Most of the rage has been directed toward the clock tower jump puzzle but I haven’t found anyone who has disliked the Reapers Brawl.
What one sees as a flaw, another sees as a positive feature.
Doesn’t help. I have moved it every place imaginable. Once I’m in a crowd I cannot see where I’m jumping or moving too. After about 3 hours of futility I’m going to give this a pass so I don’t throw my computer out the window.
This is my biggest complaint, and the terrible camera as well.
Wish there was an option to turn off friendlies from the world (like you can with nameplates). It would eliminate this problem without having to make it solo instanced.
Well I’m glad the clock tower doesn’t count towards the meta achievement because I’m horrible at it. No way am I completing it.
the reason that less keys drop then chests because if that were not the the case, then there would be no reason to buy keys whatsoever.
There is nothing in the chests worth paying money for though. If there was then your statement would be a bit more viable. As it stands now the chests are just inviting you to say “open me” but when you do all you find is coal.
I really like the Charr areas (and the Norn ones too). I actually prefer them to the human and swamp lands.
But yeah, the Charr areas are pretty darn empty. Well actually I mostly just see bots in them.
I enjoy them. My only complaint is the camera. A first person view would help a lot I think.
I agree with you OP. I haven’t played my Ranger in nearly two weeks mostly because of the bots. And I also second guess any decision I make in game when rangers are around. Is this a player? Or is this a bot?
I really feel bad for the legitimate ranger players out there.
This is really my biggest problem with the game right now. I’ve reported numerous bots over the past few weeks but they are still there. I see more bots than legitimate players nowadays.
Absolutely. I’ve put in about 300 hours in. Considering that most $60 games I’ve played last hardly any longer than 30 hours at best I consider this game an absolutely bargain in cost per time played.
Yahtzee always makes me laugh. For those that have never watched his “reviews” just take everything with a grain of salt. He pans everything that he puts on his videos.
I’ll be pretty disappointed if we don’t see Mad King Thorn this Halloween.
What are you trying to say? I’m not quite understanding the post.
Typically, what the developers do when they find a ‘bot’ is to observe what they are doing and how they are doing it so they can take steps or change code to prevent it. This takes time.
Other games have done the same thing… learn what the bots are doing, make a fix for it, then do mass bannings.
I imagine this is what they are doing. They did something similar in GW1.
Why is League of Legends so popular then?
I mean if you don’t like it, then you don’t like it. Different strokes for different folks and all.
Also, as someone else said, since when is 8v8 a zerg?
Anet even said that this is a drop in and play type of game, it’s not designed to occupy your whole playing life.
So it is not even a real RPG then?
What’s a “real” RPG?
Could we please get rid of that *i don´t like what he says so he´s a fanboy * nonsense?
QFT
It seems to be a response when they can’t think of an argument to refute the others point.
Anyway, the game isn’t going to appeal to everyone. Anet even said that this is a drop in and play type of game, it’s not designed to occupy your whole playing life. Just don’t play for a period of time and then come back later, or if you really just don’t like the game then that’s ok too, plenty of other games out there.
I would think it would be the opposite affect
In game community is really nice. The game mechanics help that in part.
The forum community? Seems to be like every game forum community, pretty darn awful.
Do you feel that you need direction in your games? I believe that is an issue for a lot of people. And is why sandbox games in general are not that popular (not saying GW2 is a sandbox, it isn’t, but it doesn’t have directive goals for you to attain that most themepark mmos have).
Is the 25th a special day?
I think they said they would have a patch the 24th, is that the day you meant?
That was one of my favorite ones actually. I much prefer that to the numerous skill points where you just have to fight a veteran mob to gain access to the skill point.
Well according to the graph in the latest arenanet blog, Thieves are the 4th most played profession.
But I agree, the signet of shadows is very nice.
I’ve been getting this a lot as well. Ever since the latest patch.

But I do enjoy a lot of the other things about GW2 over GW1.
The title should really read the frustrations over the lack of raiding. That is what the vast majority of these threads are about. And I have a hard time believing that people claim they have researched the game before buying and then complaining about this fact. We have known about no instanced raiding for over 2 years.
Ugh, this has been happening to me lately as well. No issues with any other game but here I’m getting dc’d back to the character select screen about every minute to two minutes.
I’d just like to see a message board type LFG tool similar to how they had it in GW1. And if that was made global then it would allow for folks to see who wants to go where. No need for an automated system just something that is lot more visible and usable for everyone. The LFG tool they have now is pretty lacking.
