never thought underwater combat was that bad, certainly better than any other mmo I’ve played
but I do think they need to go through all of the skills and readjust them, some professions are so far ahead in underwater combat than others.
also, perhaps add some underwater rebreathers? make them craftable. Seems like a bit of oversight by the devs on this. Or perhaps they are just wanting underwater stuff to disappear and forget about it.
It has been my favorite mini game that ArenaNet has made. I’ll be greatly disappointed if it doesn’t return.
My overflow server has gotten him down to 88%
Seems odd that you bring up GW1 in this context. GW1 has pretty much the same type of “personal” character development.
Yeah it has changed and I’m not sure if it’s for the better. I will say that I haven’t played since the SAB patch has come out and that is the longest time that I’ve gone without playing. Some of that is due to my ambivalence toward the SAB itself and the other is my dislike for all of the ascended addition and changes due to that.
Or it could be that I’m just burnt out on the game. Does the game changing have anything to do with that? I’m not sure yet.
I’m not sure why not liking SAB would stop anyone from playing (unless maybe you were already looking for an excuse). It’s an easily ignored box in Rata Sum. If you didn’t like dungeons would you not play? Or jumping puzzles?
But I do understand being unhappy about the changes to ascended.
That said there are so many things Anet has done that I’ve really liked. The Bazarre of the Four Winds was great for me. I like the zone wide events too (particularly now that they’re more randomized). I love Sanctum Sprint and Southsun Survival.
But no game is going to please everyone.
Well true about the SAB, but since that was the major theme to the patch I added that in to why I’m not really playing much anymore. Perhaps the next content addition will invigorate me again. I actually enjoy a lot of the mini games they add in so I’m perfectly content with that type of gameplay.
About the ascended stuff, part of it is mental. Even though it’s not really a treadmill in the traditional sense it feels like one to me. Plus the grind associated with them. It just lowers my desire to play.
Anyway, I’m just hoping further updates will rekindle my desire to play.

I’m continuing on my long process of getting a Legendary.
I won’t be bothering with any ascended weapons
Guild Wars 1 still isn’t free to play. No reason to think why this game would either.
kitten ed if you do, kitten ed if you don’t
well I don’t know about worst but its pretty bad
they should have just not had targeting in the game
on most forums I visit Evon seems to be the favorite
If you want blood effects done right, go play Age of Conan.
If you’d prefer a playable game, stick with GW2.
AoC plays just fine
But yeah, it has all of the blood and gore that you could want, it also has a rating of M so the market, presumably, is more limited than for GW2.
yeah, probably SHOULD go back to playing a slower game… like that new Cartoony Borderlands MMO NC is siphoning profits away for….
hmm, I don’t know about that. It looks like it will have very similar combat as GW2 does, except with the trinity in place.
and who determines what a “real” mage is?
I don’t know if obsolete would be the right term for it.
It is certainly less populated. And nobody, I mean nobody goes to Malchor’s Leap or Straits of Devastation. Which I find a shame.
Indeed, it’s pretty much like its predecessor. Fantastic system.
I can’t imagine people can’t find PVe guilds in this game. There are plenty of them.
finding guilds isn’t really an issue
finding a good active guild is an issue though
My problem is that I haven’t really found anyone or a guild that I want to play with. I’m really picky about the people I play with. In past mmos I’ve joined guilds a bit more haphazardly and they weren’t a good experience. So I’m a bit gun shy nowadays.
I’m in a guild of one. So yeah, I play alone.
Permanent account bonuses—permanent boosts to Magic Find, experience from kills, karma gain, and more. Earn achievement points on any character and get rewards for all of your characters.
Currencies – gold, gems, karma, and laurels.
I can see alcoholics being happy with this.
alt-o-holics are never happy, there is always something that they will complain about and claim that they are being ‘punished’
You could apply that statement to gamers in general.
This just killed a bunch of my excitement for the future of this game.
We’re never going to visit Elona or Cantha now. Any future Dragons will likely be killed off cheaply if we even get to fight them at all.
I’m tired of fighting unrelated side stories that feel like filler. What happened to the other dragons?!
^ didn’t read article
Yes I did. The living story has been extremely underwhelming.
Well then you didn’t really digest on what the article said. We can still very well get Elona or Cantha or any other unexplored area.
Orr is not fun in any way, shape, or form.
I disagree with this completely.
From reading what their plans are for the game, I find it highly unlikely that the level cap will be raised.
Hopefully people read the whole article rather than jumping to conclusions at the title.
If it works out like they are hoping then I think it will be fantastic.
However, sometimes great ideas on paper don’t work out so well in practice.
People think it’s the worst one out of the three?
hmm, I thought it looked the best
well Arena Net is certainly not strangers to price goofs
people do the jumping puzzles for loot?
yes please, I think most of us have wanted some sort of template capability since beta
I wonder if they are going to introduce ascended weapons/armor at all period.
I would guess that it is more than 1 person and probably less than 10 million people
When will ANET add them? next year?
I have a lot of Laurels and guild commendations and nothing to buy….They will likely add Ascended weapons and armors as a reward for the GW2 raids mentioned in another topic at the front page of this subforum. Your laurels and guild commendations will likely be useless to get them.
I don’t think they will make them exclusive to their version of raiding.
If they did, the uproar and mass exodus would be huge.
I suppose I can see why Rangers were voted worst in dungeons although I’ve seen rangers solo things that no other profession could.
Open world PVE? No way. I understand they were voted 2nd worst but if anything they should be voted the best. I’ve soloed champions where none of my other characters could (except for my engineer).
I suppose WvW zergs I could see but even then you still have options.
I guess I just don’t see it. The sky really isn’t falling for Rangers as some seem to think it is.
I would love to buy them, but I just don’t like their design.
Maybe the next time they design something it will be more to my liking.
all of those mini games that they mentioned would be in seem to not have appeared.
thing is, we know they have made them, every special event they have done have had at least one mini game. Why couldn’t they just have put those in the cities as a permanent addition? Anyway, yeah I hope they put them in…at least before the year is over.
I can see them putting them back onto the gem store but with a different look/animation.
ASB, I’m not really bothered by adding another layer of gear like a lot of folks are. But what I am against is tying that gear to be exclusive to a raid (for example). As long as there are multiple ways of attaining said gear then I’m ok with that.
For example, I think most people who like instances in most MMOs would probably have enjoyed Fissure of Woe, The Underworld, Domain of Anguish, The Deep, Urgoz’s Warren and Slaver’s Exile.
They wouldn’t.
The goal of “instances in most MMOs” (aka raids) is to get more powerful gear. None of your examples provides more powerful gear. Ergo, raiders would have hated them.
In fact, adding raids to Guild Wars 2 without giving them more powerful gear would only make raiders complain about how they wouldn’t be properly rewarded for their “work”.
Although I’m sure ArenaNet knows about this. I will be surprised if the GW2 “raids” aren’t when we will see the introduction of Ascended weapons and armors.
I’d be pretty surprised if Anet didn’t have ways outside of raids to get ascended weapons and armor.
If there is one thing that would make me quit the game, it would be to add exclusive power items like ascended armor and weapons just for raiding.
If it is just a cosmetic difference, like the rest of the game is, then fine. But if they go the route of WoW/SWTOR/Rift of exclusivity, then I am out.
With that said, I would be super surprised if they did that. They would have a revolt and mass exodus if they did.
I seriously doubt they would have gear progression tied to raiding.
I can see them having elite areas, similar to DoA in Guild Wars 1. And then adding a GW2 twist such as dynamic events.
with the steampunk theme, they should make it a steam powered chainsaw
I am having this same problem Geotherma. It has happened quite a bit the past week. A bit of a pain since the only way to fix it is to restart the game.
They’re called RANGERS for a reason they fight at range.
Actually that’s not what Ranger means.
^
could be that this is all connected somehow to one of the dragons…or maybe not
I use steal almost every time it’s available.
what race did you start with?
yak’s bend seems to be fairly active and I’m sure tarnished coast has quite a few as well. If you are in the asura and silvari starting zone, it will seem a bit empty. Queensdale is by far the most active of all the starting areas.
I don’t mind the trench coat look. I suppose my issue (and I imagine a lot of people) is that there are too many trench coats.
I like the medium Norn cultural and I like the Ascalon Leather set as well. Definitely could use some more variety though.
I received an email from Arena Net stating that my Diablo 3 account is compromised.
I enjoy playing the game. Isn’t that enough to keep playing?
What I did was, to bet on the same moa, over and over again. Since each moa has a 20% of winning, it’s just a matter of time for that moa to win.
That’s how I did it as well. Got the achievement in about 45 minutes. I gained about 20 silver overall.
I don’t like the mini game though as it depends on total chance. I like mini games in general but only if there is some semblance of skill involved.
I actually don’t mind it haha. I hate the cliche zombies, but like how it feels as if you are actually in enemy territory. Wouldn’t surprise me if I’m in the minority though.
You aren’t alone. I enjoy Orr a lot as well.
I’d actually like to see some fractals or something in which we could travel back to Orr before it was turned into zombie apocalypse. But I also enjoy it how it is currently.
