you mean an Anet ranger player?
for my all encounters for Anet players, mostly are ranger players, so i don’t feel rare.
I buy gems with credit card. I got a job, i got a life, i have to work overtime usually. So i bought gem for character slot, transmulate crystal, gem armor skin. Is that pay to win too? I pay cash to avoid the needs to convert my hard earned gold into gems.
What else can my cash to gem do?
Speed up my progress of legendery? I haven’t done making clover, please tell me how can i optain obsidian shard with gem? I used up all my kama and only able to make 62 clover so far. I got 15 ascaulon tears left and spent over 3k tears before i got a precursor and decided to craft a legendery; anyway i can buy tears with gem to avoid doind AC again?
I do, i really do wish i can use gem to buy all these mat so that i can pay-to-win.
If thats happens:
i can play ranger GS on my warrior, nice!
i can a use a ranger Longbow on my warrior, more fun than warrior rifle!
i can bring a following spirit with me rather than a stationed banner, great!
I always see Anet players in game, but I’ve only ever seen them play thief or warrior.. go figure.
I rarely met Anet players before clockwatch chaos, but after clockwatch chaos ups to recently tower of nightmare…. 75% of the Anet players i met were playing rangers.
I run 0/25/0/30/15 shout heal build with soldier rune
I am able to swap trait and goes like: GS + dual sword, GS + Rifle, dual sword + sword shield, you can take Longbow as 2nd set as well.
For offensive, i will bring shout heal, for defensive, i can bring regen banner.
The problem I see is that we as gamers have been trained to desire roles. To desire some way of saying “My character does x.” The “this is my role, this is what I do” mentality.
“I am ele, therefore I am a nuker”
“I am a warrior, there I am a tank”
“I am a monk, therefore I heal”It was this mentality that GW2 was attempting to break away from by breaking the ‘roles’ barrier. Any class could do any role, in theory.
However, the classes do not do all roles effectively, so we end up with a lot of these threads where the complaints arise the ‘x’ class does more dps, or ‘y’ class does more whatever. Thus we end up with the divide between those that feel certain classes are better, and preferred over others.
For people like me, who pretty much ignore ‘speed’ runs, and for whom the game is not all about efficiency, any class is perfectly fine. Everything can be done with any class, and we freely take any class on a dungeon trip. I regularly take my ele, my husband likes to take his ranger, I have a guildie that takes either her warrior or her necro, another that takes a guardian, and a 5th that typically takes a thief or an engineer. For the paths we tend to do, it takes us 15 to 20 minutes to complete (and that’s with massacring everything in our path. We don’t skip stuff). Considering speed runs of the same paths tend to take (on average) 10-15 minutes, from my understanding and observation, I don’t think we’re doing too badly for our motley, non-efficiency, group.
Pretty much this.
I like playing warrior wholeheartedly. But most MMO i am not able to make an ideal warrior. Why? because like you said, warrior in most game are made into tank which i always avoid being one. Not saying i want dps warrior. My warrior in GW is shout heal warrior, balance is what i always wanted. Unfortunately, any balanced build is most worthless in trinity MMO.
I never join a speed run, and if i am in one, i will kick myself off the party. I love playing dungeon with PUG, with newbies. Some one may get hurt, may down, or party wipe, whatever, this is more fun than a speed run.
Here in GW2, i found my perfect balance MMO.
I would love to see another dragon threat as our next LS after scarlet
Make it so it is updated every month to make a phase shift (so to have some other update elements in between each phase) Allow 3 orders to be involved in dealing with the new threats with their own methods, make the event open world instance like the nightmare tower, with player choice to select which order path to play, count each orders path players play-rate and come up with the final solution on most played order (like the cut throat policy).
I have the same question in my head since Day 1 and i come up with this solution:
New weapon : Hand Guard
It could be a small hand armor piece on the left forearm
The function of this weapon is 1) provide weapon stat as off hand 2) rune slot 3) complete the missing skill slot 4&5
How does it work? It give you skill 4&5 based on your main hand weapon choice
There is actually a pretty close fix to please both parties.
1) Change all the armor to new skin, everyone
2) Make a special version to the players purchased before the change, this special version got the new skin, that’s what every other players see, but trick the owner of this special version to see they are still wearing the discontinued flamekiss skin (explanation: you are having an open world armor preview in T3 flamekiss skin and actually able to fight and do what ever stuffs, but others player see you is with the new skin)
I guess this is the only solution that please most players.
Players who against the armor will never see the flamekiss skin anymore in game.
Players that own the T3 flamekiss keep the skin but they will never able to show off their shiny armor in game.
Players that don’t have human T3 nor the T3 flamekiss will never able to obtain it.
What you guys think?
I think the best way to solve it, is to make a totally new skin for TP. Then make the existing owner armor version a special one, where ONLY the player(owner) able to see the T3 version of skin while all other players see is the new skin. Give these players a one time ability to convert the skin to new skin.
This is actually workable just like when we tone down model quality we saw a replaced model instead, but it doean’t change any thing at all. T3 owner get angry when they saw hard worked exclusive skin is released to public. So allow the one bought this skin to keep and see by themselves only is a win win solution.
I don’t actually think that’s possible. The culling setting its a low setting, generated model, rather than tied to an actual armour set it self.
It is possible i think if Anet wants to do it.
It is not changing what people see. The trick is it changed what you see.
All the skin will become the new skin that’s for sure. Only the one who purchased the skin before the discontinue, is able to keep the skin visual through their own character.

Its time to release reskin dungeon set, I want a totally new arah set that take away the hands and skull, thank you!
Oh, I also want Norn cultural armor to be able to use with everyone, thanks!
And i want the rune blade, pls reskin and put on GS, thanks!
I want….
the
list
go
on
I am really disappointed.
1) No trinity – I am not forced to play / look for a tank and healer any more, any other players are welcome except speed run which i will never join.
2) Level scaling – No more overpowered high level killing every mob, all map is fun for lv80
3) No mob tagging – No more kill stealing to me or other players
4) DE – I still enjoy these open world event even i got 7 lv80
5) Event scaling – most events are soloable and group events don’t REQUIRE a specific class or build to complete.
There are a lot more beyond the list….
fun, what else could it be?
8 classes, 5 races, male and female, you got tons of combinations to play the game.
Precursors only drop from a few specific places:
- Level 80+ enemies
- World boss chests and world boss bonus chests (the ones on the ground and the ones that pop-up on screen)
- Dungeon chests
- Some Jumping Puzzle chests
I’m afraid this statement is wrong m8. Precursor can drop from any enemy, chest or WvW loot bag, only the chances differ.
Thats correct, i got my DAWN from a lv60 shark. So just play the game normally, no need to farm. Slowly save gold to buy a precursor until 1) you got enough gold; 2) you got a loot
Why wasting gold gambling for a slim chance in mystic toilet?
I don’t understand why complain RNG rewarding. To be honest, i have yet to play a game without RNG rewarding. One of my favorite game of all time “PSO” got heavy RNG rewarding system. You can fill up all your bank for game money 1000000 times easier than getting special weapon as loot, not to mention you got a chance to lose your equiped weapon when dying. GW2 on the other hand is very easy to get “BIS” weapon.
Honestly i never intended to get a legendary, therefore when i am lucky enough to get a precursor as loot, i am no where to start with. I’ve made an estimation, it will require me to play every dailes, monthlies, for 12 months, tons of AC run, world completion etc. i really no idea i am able to play that much as a man with a life.
So if you are well prepared for a legendary, when your time comes, its yours. Relax!
Lets think the matter with a game designer prospective.
IF ranged damage is as effective as melee, what will happen? Will you favor a melee class over a ranged class? By human nature, NO, every player will pick a ranged class. See every FPS game, if all guns on average take 3 shots to kill, melee will usually able to 1 hit kill. Therefore, if ranged attack is as effective as current melee attack 3-4 shot killing a player; melee attack should be able to 1-2 shot another player.
What about sniper rifle? There are sniper in FPS game. Yes, but we forgot how restrictive to mobility a sniper in those game. Scoped you are totally uable to watch your back, you are almost rooted, rof is extremely low.
If sniper is what you are looking for in GW2, unfortunately, we don’t have one yet. When one day there are new weapon, new skill introduced that increase ranged damage effeciency but highly restrict mobility, there we can have sniper class.
Moreover, think about wvw, combat are focus group fight, if range damage is able to take down a foe effectively, image 3 rangers will be able to kill a melee class within 2-3 sec, who will want to play a melee class anyway?
(edited by Crossaber.8934)
0 gold in MF, i guess there is a secret of 6, i got mine from a dead shark which is lv60.
Guess what, i wonder i am able to craft a legendary even i got a precursor with my casual game play style (1 hr tops a day).
So, you announced a possible incoming nerf to warriors.
In return are we going to see some revamps to Arcing Slice soon?
Arcing Slice is subpar compared to all the other burst abilities. So nobody ever uses it. Warriors have way better options to maintain a high fury uptime and the damage of Arcing Slice is too low for a burst skill with a fairly long animation time of 3/4s.
My suggestion:
Arcing Slice (3/4s casttime, 10s cooldown)
Burst. Deliver an uppercut that does extra damage against injured foes.
Damage: 1,046
Damage against foes under 50% health:
Level 1 Adrenaline: 1,305
Level 2 Adrenaline: 1,745
Level 3 Adrenaline: 2,094Range: 150
Not a bad suggestion tho, but i love the current animation, but i will love to use arcing slice if they make similar change.
i do met couple of Anet rangers who are playing rangers since “the queen’s speech”
but it is nice that they started to pay attention to rangers.
I use healing signet because one of my roaming gear was shout heal boon duration with mix of Rune of Altruism and monk. With 16sec healing signet CD, i can provide 3 stack of AoE might every 16 sec, which is very nice.
Actually i was using healing signet for this setup long before it was buffed, until my build was destroyed after berserker power was moved to grandmaster. Pre nerf, i was using mainly cleric gear and shout heal was my main healing sources, and also rely on berserker power, empowered with 60% boon duration to get 100% signet of rage up time. This was a satisfying support warrior setup but it was no longer there.
(edited by Crossaber.8934)
This would put the warrior back to a good place:
Traits:
- Unsuspecting Foe moved to Master Tier
- Forceful Greatsword moved to Adept Tier (probably not, but I’d like to hope)
- Warrior’s Sprint moved to Strength Adept Tier
- Short Temper moved to Discipline Adept Tier
- Adrenal Health made Major trait in Master Tier
- Cull the Weak made Minor trait in Master Tier
- Cleansing Ire has an internal cooldown for adrenaline gain of 1s
- Dogged March provides 1s of regen down from 3s
Skills:
Healing Signet:
- Base heal over time reduced to 92/sec
- Base active heal doubled to 6550 (remember it can be a 16s heal)
- Passive heal over time is now applied to nearby allies (5 max)
Banners:
- Banners only provide bonuses while in-combat
- Banner skills cannot be daisy-chained between players
Combustive Shot:
- Radius at 3rd adrenaline level reduced to 240 from 360
Traits and signet are just way too OP. Right now wars are mind-numbingly easy to play because they don’t have to worry about healing and have 25% movement speed on an uber-bunker.
Cry and flame all you want, but its got to happen. I’ve been telling you guys war is getting nerfed for months. “Don’t nerf me bro!” doesn’t work. Coming on the forums to profess how the class is not OP blatantly shows the class is OP.
Your tears will be delicious…that is all.
while I don’t agree healing signet is OP, but i do like your healing signet rework, 6k burst heal with 16sec CD is sweet….
Also if forceful Greatsword switch with unsuspected foe, it is also a nice suggestion.
overall i agree warrior is OP because of UF, but i do like your idea too.
I loved the trinity in other games myself. But I don`t think you can really blame its system more then you can blame the devs from past games limiting the way it was handled. Nobody wanted to play a healer class because only a certain kind of person enjoys that style of play and they were few and far between. They could have made the healer class more fun to play so it would appeal to more people but most games never did. So I don`t think the trinity was bad idea but the devs in past games never made you want to play a healer or a tank. And the investment required to be a good one limited what you could do outside your main role a lot.
Runes of magic had a really nice cross class system. I was a knight cleric and I could switch my primary to either to get the benefits of the class. I could go knight/cleric and tank in dungeons or I could go cleric/knight and main heal in dungeons. Each primary had its own gear set that was saved so you didn’t have to carry extra gear or juggle it around. Was probably one the best class systems in any game I ever played. They could have done something simaler here or had certain trait lines more dedicated to certain roles then they do now.
I do know from experience that the every man for himself type games do give the instant satisfaction faster then the trinity based games. But in the longrun the trinity type games rewards feel more gratifying.
Its nice there are somebody here was a previous ROM player.
But that’s the reason i hated trinity whole heartedly. When there are some world boss required 1 tank, 2 healers and every dps stand still watching, you knew something is wrong. A tank (knight/priest), 2 healers, both are (priest/knight), 1 healer focus heal on tank while the other healer heal the other healer standing further away.
All dps must not enter the boss attack range otherwise got 1 shotted by AoE. Only any class with XXX/knight or knight/XXX is able to withstand 1 single attack from the boss, dude, ROM is totally broken, and No, i don’t want to see GW2 go through that path again.
Sorry dude, even it was years ago, i was still full of rage to ROM.
Though viper does sound awesome, and I was already planning on buying it. It looks like a copy and paste of durman armor to me. Why do we always get the coat ANet? Can’t we get something fitted and actually mature looking armor for medium?
Reality: medium

http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files/costumes/292/65315/CI_65315_1341608356.jpgGood job on Heavy sets though, yes including female set.
Just to clear up some future debates, that is the Nightingale armor from Skyrim.
And the Nightingale armor would look amazing in GW2… they seriously need to come up with some new armor concepts instead of recycling the same coats and pants crap.
Skyrim got their kitten right while designing armors.
No kidding, I could sit for 5 hours straight just looking at the armor in Skyrim because of how detailed they are.
Are you serious, I can sit for hours looking at Skyrim’s armor without finding anyone looks good. Just needed to browse armor mod to have all pieces of armor modded. I love elder scroll series but seriously every game have to download player made armor skin. LOL
please, link an armor of your taste so we can understand what you mean… maybe you like flashy wow armors (AKA Neon power rangers) or anime naked godlike looking armors?
Exactly the poor taste boring armor to you that fits my taste perfectly.

I really hate “fancy, spiked, horned, barbaric, bulky, uneven shoulders, demonic” armors.

Exactly, pretty much totally agree, good job Anet.
Right after preview the new skin, I bought gem immediately to buy the medium and heavy armor skin.
This is exactly the reason why ascended armor look so ugly…
You have an equal chance of a ‘pre’ using 4 rares as you do 400 or 4,000.
You do not understand math. Yes, you do have equal chance per a single attempt. You do not have an equal total chance – it is affected by a number of tries.
If it’s number of tries then how is it the OP says 2 ppl got 1 after 10-20 rares , yet some have put 100’s in and failed to get one.
Unless the MF ‘remembers’ how many times you’ve used it ?!
Again, you don’t understand math.
If you buy two lottrey tickets, your chance of winning is bigger than if you won one. If you buy a hundred, it is even higher. It doesn’t mean it will be high however, unless you buy a really large number of tickets (in MF case that means using rares by hundreds of thousands for any consistent results).
Some people play lottery for their whole life without winning anything ever. Others win the first time they try. It doesn’t mean that the lottery was somehow favoring the latter over the former.
This is telling the truth. Therefore i don’t play lottery, and so i won’t even start a MF precursor gambling. If i really want to own a legendary i will buy a precursor instead or if i am lucky enough to get a loot.
I am playing with this build recently.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIEQRAse8cjkONvJPyQMxBgzjkmSJVB7SPQjs0A-w
It is a very flexible build, could go any of the following weapon combo:
dual sword/GS/rifle/shield/War horn/LB
Depends on the situation, sword + shield / dual sword provide very high active defense, and high damage final thrust with unsuspected foe.
I really don’t see a reason for both group to fight each other.
For Champ train: who ever break your train by killing one champ without waiting for the zerg, it is any players’ right to kill champ if they are able to.
For casual player like me: I am perfectly fine somebody decided to zerg together for champ, what’s harm to my game play? NONE
+1 for this, really love to see Greataxe to be added.
More options is welcome always.
Ever game has RNG, and i can live with that. I got over 1k hour in this game, 7 lv80 and only below 10 times i got exotic gear as drops. Therefore i have give up legendary and working slowly towards ascended weapon.
But RNG is RNG, i got a DAWN from a lv60 shark 2 days ago.
+1, Not colorblind here but i am sure this should be addressed.
25% is what you will get.
The easiest way to get rid of zerkers in dungeons? Give enemies undodgable attacks they like spamming often. There, zerkers become worthless because they can’t survive.
What about….
Make a new enemy boon for vet or higher tier enemies, will reflect CRITICAL damage to player.
Each class should be able to trait and remove this boon. This trait should be either on def or vit trait line.
Although this boon can be removed but the enemy will re-cast easily. Player with high critical chance / damage will have to watch out and attack during the boon is down otherwise they will got hit / killed by their own CRITICAL hit. This way makes Zerker party uneasy. The party with more players traited to deal with this boon they have more boon down time to attack, while party with full zerker and not traited will have less attack window.
This can make party with less critical damage and traited roughly kill speed (less dps but more attack windows) = full zerker kill speed (more dps but less attack windows), and both play style will be rewarded.
What an idea. Let’s give players tools and then take them away from them through a nonsensical mechanic whose only reason for existence is the success envy of others. When will people get the concept? Balance is based on PvP, where glass cannon is less complained about than conditions and bunkers.
If this abomination of an idea were to ever see the light of day, speed groups would switch to whatever build worked best. They would still be exclusionary. There would still only be one best option. And marginally skilled players would have less success in dungeons than they do now. The skilled would build around the mechanic and everyone else would just take more damage than they do now.
This is not a zerker hate.
This is a mechanic should have existed since day one. There are mechanics that limit direct damage and condition damage, which is armor rating and condition stack limit. Condition stack is working fine, armor rating is working fine towards sustain direct attack but not against critical damage.
This idea is a mechanic to limit critical damage, so to balance out sustain direct damage, condition damage and critical damage and allow all build diversity to have similar kill speed, same fun in PvE. With this mechanic, boss super huge health pool can be bring down.
high crit damage build is still highly viable, they only need to watch out their attack window or bring some teammates to strip the enemy “boon” naked, or bring condition damage dealer….
I think this way make party play more fun.

I really really really don’t think that’s what the “Role” in Role-playing game means. It refers to the player taking on the role of the character, not the player having a role on a team. If I’m wrong someone please tell me because I’ve been operating under this assumption for well over a decade now.
Your interpretation is correct.
This is what RPG means to me since day one. I for one really cannot adapt to any form of tank healer dps game. GW2 is actually perfect for me.
To my knowledge, trinity means tank / healer / dps, and most content is unbeatable when tank or healer is missing.
Is there any content is unbeatable without Warrior / Mesmer / Guardian?
NONE
So what is this GW2 trinity is about? OP your issue is Min/Max, and it is 0 relationship to trinity actually.
It is non sense to hurt berserker geared player.
But i rather see boss, champion, elite or even veteran foe got implement a new boon or aura. A protective shield that reapply when boss use some skill, that able to reflect player CRITICAL damage (full or partly) to the original player no matter ranged or melee. Player is able to strip this monster boon off in order to allow high critical damage player to move in for the big hit. But this boon will reapply soon enough so every time member got to keep an eye for this boon and be ready to remove it.
in GW2, party combat can still based on the holy trinity to build for. Any class with tanky build is able to take some serious damage, and tank for a while, but not tanking forever. Class like ele and guardian can make good healer combined with protection / aegis / blind / CC for the team.
The only differences is, good players in GW2 is able to take care of themselves and therefore Tank and healer are not REQUIRED. This changed the traditional tank and healer carry the rest of the party through hard content, to: good player carry bad player through hard contents.
If a player got teamwork in mind, he/she will bring some utilities to support the party, and also be watchful to party members that need aid. There are tons of ways to bring teamwork to the table, team buff, team block, team stealth, CC, combo field etc.
I don’t hate tank and healer, whats the complain for somebody devote themselves entirely to support teammates?
My only issue is if combat is based around tank and healer, where tank and healer become a must have vs all harder encounter. As long as tank and healer remain a player’s choice rather than a party requirement i am all good.
The current game issue is not about missing build diversity, its because there are not enough encounters that favor support builds. But TEQ is a good start, already see more support and tanky builds appeared.
Just use whatever you like, this is a game, it is not necessary to use the best min/max weapon anyway.
Greatsword in GW2 is in good position, but let me tell you, many MMO out there favor 2H axe a lot more, but i am a big fan of sword type weapon, so i am all the way greatsword even it is a underdog in those games. I am glad greatsword is fine in GW but even it is not, i will choose a weapon i like most.
I will say the game is quite fun at the moment, we got TEQ as world boss, we got scarlet invasion as group event, we got LS every 2 weeks.
I don’t like vertical progression but i am okay with the ascended weapon crafting as long as it is the only additional tier forever. Otherwise i will just walk away, because i have out of expected contents for what i’ve paid for.
I still consider GW2 a casual MMO, although i have 5 lv80, 1 lv71, 1 lv45, 1 lv27 and none of them are fully exotic, almost no ascended gear either, i haven’t tried any FotM, i’ve only done AC, CM, Arah dungeon, i don’t have plan going after legendary too, because i am a very casual player. Don’t worry, unless you are a lot more hardcore gamer than me, otherwise there are tons of things you can do before you reached the “mindless grind” period.
i like the idea of daze with shout, but there should be an internal CD to prevent overpower, i think 5~10 sec to prevent chain daze in a roll. And i don’t think shout should do damage, daze along is good enough.
I prefer “Tactical Intercept” instead, the trait allow banner do damage and shout do daze at the same time.
One thing ANet could do, is offer an upright body option with a upright running animation as a makeover kit. Those who want it can switch. Those who prefer the old posture can keep it. If they did this then there might be more people playing Charr.
Of course people would then complain about having to buy a separate kit, but I suspect it can’t easily be integrated into the original character creation or the original total makeover kit.
Just 1 easy fix, put an option for Charr 2 leg running animation toggle in option, i will immediately play a Charr without looking back. And they can also put this option in character creation as well.
I am really don’t understand comparing my Charr to all npc Charr, i am the only one running with 4 legs… makes my Charr look stupid.
Almost 80% of dailies i have been missed, can’t imagine as a casual player, how am i supposed to play game every night while i have a job, a family, a girl friend….
it is a game after all…
It is a role play game, why don’t trying to make a Charr character that feels sorry about what his ancestor done to mankind? I believe there are some bad Charr around, just like some japanese nowadays still deny their invasion during WW2…
I am willing to play a Charr and i did, just the running animation bugged me most…
Daecollo and Excalibur in the same thread, oh noes.
The king of terrible suggestions and the queen of “I’m too bad to counter this simple thing, nerf it plox”.throws bags of Asuran Popcorns to everyone
Thanks for the Popcorns, this is the only reason i will reply this thread, you’ve spoken my mind.
Whats the OP said, the running animation is all the reason stop me from leveling any Charr cha pass lv4… armor clipping and another issue as well.
Pls make a toggle mode for Charr running animation, i am fine they just run like a normal human, that’s all i am asking.
