I don’t get it, as many above posters already stated, the current legendary is not legenary enough. All for weirder showing off is the legendary luck or legendary rich or legendary patient. No skill or ability or credit whatever. So why gambling for one?

For me, i may have legendary luck, i sold everything needed to craft legendary, i spent 300k kama for wvw exotic for forge in exchane couple gold as return. Then bang i got a dawn from loot. If i have saved up the t6 may, those 300k kama, i may have crafted my sunrise now. But i don’t grind anything, i play in my pace so maybe 3 months or so i may finish my legendary.

What i wanna say is, i am happy i got my precursor, but i am happy even i don’t. It is not required and it is not a symbol of skill or reputation. I will not gamble for a precursor, it will accept it as loot, otherwise i won’t bother saving the money to buy either.

Because presumably no matter causal player or hardcore should be equally fair chance to obtain a precursor.

You’re right, casual and hardcore is irrelevant. You don’t have to be a hardcore player to be incredibly skilled at the game. The only thing the task would require is incredible skill from your group, and a sustained amount of it. Honestly, I don’t even think one task is sufficient; it should be many, different, varied tasks, and they should each form a component of your precursor.

There you go, it shouldn’t be hardcore content that lock causal out, but more ways to obtain precursor, yes. But it got to be new precursor not the current ones, as it is extremely unfair for someone thrown thousands gold and get theirs precursor abd suddenly there is a safer way.

The current precursor loot is a matter of luck or hardwork, it allow causal to obtain by Loot, hardworker by TP, gambler by forge. I don’t see a need to revisit it.

If we can do a “precursor quest” here and there, bang, got a precursor, what is so different to free precursor?

Because presumably it would be so hard that not everyone could get it, and only those with exceptionally high-grade teamwork and skill could achieve such a task.

Because presumably no matter causal player or hardcore should be equally fair chance to obtain a precursor. RNG is RNG, someone may got lucky and someone may not. So deal with it. On the other hand, i prefer more legendary set for different mode of GW, by not ruining the current precursor and legendary, adding new way new method on these new legendary, and create a better precursor obtain system will do.

For example, a mystic forge recipe on the new precursor: succeed with a desired precurser and when it failed it could drop a certain shard, when you slowly collect that shard to some amount, you can go to an npc and exchange that precursor… etc

account bound asc gear + culture armor?

How will this work?

when i transmute human culture on my asc set and send it to my norn can he wear than human culture?

how work this system with asc accountbound?

Think of the PvP armor locker preview, you can click on the armor and add to the preview, once color and skin are set, click okay to consume transmute charges.

Therefore if you are a norn character, you cannot put the other race cultural skin on your toon just like the PvP locker, you cannot preview different race armor.

If we can do a “precursor quest” here and there, bang, got a precursor, what is so different to free precursor? For example, someone suggested AP chest, its a matter of time, so everyone can get a precursor, and everyone go craft their legendary.

So what about we give that “precursor quest” a little RNG, 99% players can get a precursor…. who can guarantee YOU are not the 1% player who can’t get one? As for now, legendary is not as rare as 1 year ago. The chance you saw a legendary is higher than any same weapon in exotic tier.

The only solution is to create more legendary tier weapon, more skins and more method to obtain the associated precursor. It could be WvW based, heavy crafting based, dungeon based, living based….

I don’t mind there is duel as long as

1) it is auto reject

and

2) it is not in any form of PvE map

and

3) on/off toggle to watch other players duel (i will always toggle off in my case)

and

4) auto gear balance (or say switch to PvP gear but keep the skin)

So it says.

WvW is the only place i am okay to have duel function

1. Sure.
2. Why not?
3. Why?
4. Why?
5. Why?

2) I experienced in other game with duel, some stupid kid keep jumping in front of me, asking for a duel, i refused and he kept trolling around. This is totally unacceptable. I just want to play my game peacefully.

Think about it, if open world got duel, even we have auto reject, people can type, they can do all kind of stuff to annoy someone when they rejected the duel request.

3) I don’t want being interrupted when i am playing, so i rather not seeing someone dueling, but maybe someone don’t mind to watch, so toggle.

4) People cannot tell whether it is gear differences or skill issue for the lose. But mostly result in claiming their class sucks. There will create even more fake class balance issues.

5) WvW on the other hand, people will be busy fighting other world outside of city/keep, so nobody will duel outside of the city, and inside city, people will rarely stay for too long so couple guy duel there is fine.

All in all, you got your reason to have duel, and i got my right to be free from trollings from players who wants to duel.

As long as you still have part of the gem store skin set (e.g. you bought Braham’s armor set, then dumped everything except the helm), it will detect that and unlock the whole armor set for you. If you bought an entire armor set, then trashed it (e.g. you bought a T2 Cultural armor set for the achievement, then dumped it), then sadly you’re out of luck and you’ll need to re-purchase the set again.

are you sure about this, if that so i will be very happy, i salvaged a gem boot before, submitted a support ticket, got an email that i won’t be able to recover my boot, but then days later i found an in game mail that from support, told me to enjoy my recovered item which i don’t seem to find the item ever.

There are still new players have not done the personal story yet, and Zhaitan is still around. We can’t just change the map and make permanent change to Orr based on the defeat of Zhaitan.

A solution is to make an alternative map that is after Zhaitan’s death. Only allow players who’ve finished personal story to enter. Give us a pop window to select which time line of the map we want to enter at portal and before WP.

I do not think there is a way for that. Also, if you are in a party and someone else starts it, you will not see yourself there. You will see their character among the heroes instead. (I learned this in the bitter way the first time.)

If you are just happy to see the cutscene in general, ask to join someone else’s victory party.

I am talking about the cut scene as attached. I can see the middle character a little bit after this screen shot, which is my character, the other member who skip the movie is a female character and a friend of mine, he just in a hurry and skipped the cut scene. I doubt this cut scene is replayable.

I want to see this cut scene with my own character just once, and i am not able to see this because someone skipped the movie, this is not from any of the dungeon cut scene, this is the cut scene right before the game credit.

Final Thrust should never be used unless the enemy is under 50% HP and you’re running a power/crit build. If these conditions are met you need to be careful with the timing as it comes out kind of slow and awkward.

@Crossaber: The new trait would lower the animation time for Final Thrust as thus: 0.75s = 0.68s or 0.07s faster. Hardly worth it as a grandmaster trait (it is very difficult to spot a 0.07s difference).

Power/Crit tends to be a better option as Sword/Sword or Sword/Whatever. Make sure you get the adept skill Deep Cuts from the Arms Trait, and consider Arms: 25, ‘Attack of Opportunity’ as well for a very consistent 10% damage increase.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vIAQJAscjMdU5ZhHOewJaABfQDvMSipQ9YOsj2A-TMAg0CnIKC

Here is a quick slapping together of my old S/S + Whatever build. Use full Lyssa, and then Soldier/Zerk or Zerk/Zerk if survival is not an issue. If anyone is interested I have a post in my history that goes into more detail about this build I could go dig up; it does more damage than is probably apparent if you just quickly glance at the build without really knowing how it all comes together. DPS is very comparable to axe, although certain breeds of Necromancers might kick your kitten for it.

Yes, 10% buff maybe not as good as on paper, that’s why i said can’t wait to try it out. If 10% faster allow me to combo my skills more fluidly, i am happy already. As for now the final thrust and throw sword feel not fluid enough.

Your LA point is totally subjective, many people love it and it makes the world feel more living. Old cities get burned and others get built. That’s how a living world should be, this is what the MMO player-base have been asking for all the time [ for reference the MMO community is never happy whatever the devs do in any game as the player-base is huge and the opinions are different ].

Regarding your other points about skins, I agree. As a game heavily focused on skin collections, it would be great ot have some kind of a wardrobe where you can.

Not sure about the account-bound things on the other hand, it is a gaming company afterall they want their game alive and players to have something to do. Like WoW is focused on gear, it is focus on skins and looks here, at least you aren’t forced to do it here like you were in WoW as you won’t be able to play content without gear. Now, implementing account-bound skins etc. will lead to less activity from players to build different characters, something that the majority are doing as people fancy trying new profession/race combinations, building their stats and skins to look fancy.

Gonna state the obvious:

How does a now totally empty city which at one time was packed with many people make the game feel more alive?

Just saying…….

People are now packed at vigil keep. I think the destruction of LA is a succeed and should carry on for more living story, at different race capital so once in a while people are gathering at different region of Tyria.

Never intended to make a legendary, never saved up materials for this purpose until last Sept i made i comeback in GW2 after a half year break. I got a dawn from lv60 mob when i was trying to get my map completion done.

Since then up to today, i’ve got all clovers, map completions, gift of light done. All i need now is 160k kama for obsidian shard, roughly 1200 T6 materials and 100 gold for icy rune stone. That probably 3~4 months of game play with my pace.

1) new zone, new race, new class, new weapon – seriously we are getting bored with the same skills and class for over 1 year of release

2) skin locker – the more gem store skin release, the less likely people will buy when they finally understand it is not worth to spend when more and more useless skin part are in bank taking up space.

3) expand personal story to season 2 – fighting dragon should become the permanent story content for a player, as GW2 is all about fighting dragon. It is good to have LS as an introduction to more dragons in the future, but fights the elder dragon missions should stay all the time.

Gift of Battle change

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Crossaber.8934

I have been working on my first legendary for 6 months now, and i guess i will need another 4 months to gather enough lauren to get me enough obsidian shard and T6 materials in my pace. I am glad i got my gift of battle in bank bought with the badges from the achievement chest.

The reason i brought this up is, there are a lot of casual players like me who got a life to run, normally i only able to get the fastest and easiest 5 dailies done for the lauren and i am done for the game time. WvW is fun to me but it took too much time to run around. Also i am not in EU or NA time zone therefore when i am able to play, most players are sleeping. Sometimes i got the time to go WvW, the background is like dead city, therefore i have around 1k players killed, but my WvW rank is only at lv6.

I suggest the purchase of gift of battle with rank requirement ascending for the number of purchase count per account. With the first purchase with 0 rank needed, 2nd purchase 25 rank, 3rd purchase 50 rank and go on. The rank required is adjustable and just the idea. So players who are late to get on the boat are not getting punished.

Holy Trinity Is Called "Holy" For A Reason

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Crossaber.8934

Crossaber.8934

The reason to remove trinity is to eliminate the NEEDs of a specific class for party contents. GW2 break down tank and healing role into every class and let the player decide how much team support to provide with his created build. This is the actual meaning of “play whatever we want”, if again, any PvE contents is created under the impression of specific role is needed, what is the different between trinity and GW2?

I never able to drop shout heal as a warrior, my role is a combat medic, not a healer. But i do know what my role can offer, my shout does a little heal, condition removal and provide buff. I am able to withstand some damage while reviving, i can shout heal myself without interrupt my revive. I know my heal is weak but in large scale epic fight, my shout is giving a little help to the guy next to me, it could be a life saver already. I can dive into the heat of fights or support the allies next to me.

The advantage of GW2 is any 5 players can party up and do party contents, different combination need different strategic. Yes, can’t deny that full dps party is by far the most efficient setup but it is encounter issue that Anet is well aware of so far. It is a matter of time when encounter is well developed and allow support and control build to shine.

TLDR go look at the attachment

Eh.. That system is clunky & has an unnecessary number of clicks. Cosmetics should be automatically unlocked when you put a piece on & should be choseable in a drop-down for each armor piece (like how you change your skills in your skill bar). Like this:

This is a good idea, and we all understand Anet needs income. I will say with each skin change will consume 1 transmute stone automatically. This way people will possible use more transmute stone than currently.

On top of this, i think it should give a fitting room for all skin and color change, then click confirm to proceed. The system will calculate the transmute stone needed and consume. The fitting room should let us see some basic animations like run, weapon stance, attack, jump in order to check for clipping issues. As of now it is very annoying to transmute a new piece before seeing the clipping issues. (like phoenix shoulder that clip right into my mesmer’s face while in greatsword stance)

Holy Trinity Is Called "Holy" For A Reason

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Crossaber.8934

I find it interesting that people seem to claim that GW2 has unsuccessful PvE content because it lacks the holy trinity, when in fact the overall problem is the encounters in the content and not the lack of the trinity.

People like to reference the holy trinity because that is what they are used to, but that is not the only way to make a fun and successful game. For instance, GW1 did not have a trinity. There are no such thing as tanks in GW1, as there is no hate mechanic to grab the attention of mobs. The only thing GW2 did differently from GW1, role wise, was take out the healer and give everyone the ability to survive without one.

In fact, in GW2, there actually CAN be a trinity without restructuring the entire combat system, all they need to do is redesign the encounters in group-oriented play. Because of the active-combat in GW2, things such as tanks and healers don’t exist and all people tend to do is DPS. We can make use of this fact and design a DPS trinity where people can fulfill different roles that can make significant impact in the dungeon.

If encounters were designed where there were different types of monsters who were weak to different types of damage, then a trinity could emerge. If we had monsters that had low amounts of armor, but high amounts of HP, then they would be weak to raw damage and strong to conditions, meaning you want to have raw DPS in your group. If there were monsters that had low HP but very high amounts of armor, then they would be weak to conditions but strong to raw DPS. If there were monsters that had high amounts of HP and high amounts of armor, but could have moments of vulnerability when they were CC’d, then that would encourage control specs and skills.

From adding those 3 types of enemies to encounters, a trinity of raw DPS, condition, and Control would emerge. The group could then add utilities for support where needed, such as blinds, reflects, condition removal, and buffs, but they wouldn’t be necessary. If mechanics were added to encounters that promoted the idea of splitting the group around the battle-field and prioritized movement, then we wouldn’t see people scrunch-together every encounter.

There ARE ways Anet can make PvE a more fulfilling experience with the mechanics they already have. It’s just a matter of when they get to it, if ever.

This is very well said.

Just suddenly pops up in my head. On top of your suggestion.

I think all instanced content could use a dynamic enemy encounter. It will calculate the whole party’s critical damage : condition damage : healing power ratio. Once inside the instance all party members are not allowed to change armor and trinket.

The bosses and trash will change type according to the above ratio, full zerker team will likely to face high toughness, low hp foes; while high condition damage team got low def high hp foes; while high healing power got more balanced foes. All the enemy should got a debuff while CCed which give more damage chances to the party.

This way party make up of different build diversity and bringing some control skill is more important.

I don’t think you guys have played other MMO’s, professions won’t be only a tank, or only a healer. Take Guardians, they could “spec” into tanking, or dmg. Doesn’t mean it’s like, “Guardian=Tank.” Hence the freedom.

No it is not a game’s fault, it is players’ fault.

A class with tanking abilities are EXPECTED to be a tank by other party members, it is not that a tank class cannot spec into something not for tanking, but this trade off will greatly reduce the efficiency for tanking. While doing so is against your party members’ will and will be booted. So the freedom is non existence.

Ever tried a so called “off tank” class? while the class is not able to tank as good as pure tank also not able to do the best damage, it is no seat inside a dungeon party.

I’ve all classes in lv80, and most characters are made into hybrid with more or less party support skill. They are all fine in dungeon and never got booted.

It is called “Holy Trinity” for a reason, you need to worship her and follow her rules tight to works. It is a MMO religion, a faith.

To make it work, by the cost of freedom. Freedom to build your class, freedom to create better combat mechanics.

I am not a believer, and GW2 is not a religion, so NO, this game is a minority out there for non-believer, are you suggesting to kitten away our freedom with your believe?

Cross

No, there is freedom in the trinity. You can specialize your dps as in condi/crit whatever you like. If anything theres less freedom with out it, as you have to take into account that you’re going to get hit, so you need toughness, that takes out of your damage, you have to heal yourself and others, so that takes out of other things you might want to build yourself into.

You have an opinion, but its wrong. Allow us to diversify ourselves within the trinity, rather than making everyone a tank/dps/healer.

No freedom for class, a tank class is made for tanking, you create a tank class and all your party members expected YOU to be the tank. They expected YOU able to do the job otherwise you got a kick in your face. GW2 is one of the minority MMO that allow hybrid build and it works. In trinity either you go full heal, full tank or full dps, and most classes are usually expected to build a specific way. Hybrid classes usually a fail.

So where is freedom?

Pet swap function goes into CD. when the uptime ends, the pet will swap automatically. Maybe 90s ICD.

Crossaber.8934

Most ppl here seem to dodge the main quetion and instead talk about the class and power,

I on the other hand will also confirm that even if you don’t argo all enemy’s, they will still take you as there priority target instead of the other npc fighters around you

most mmo’s seem to do this and I still have not found a good reason on why they program the enemy’s AI like this,
NPC enemy’s should in my own opinion, not take priority to any kind of enemy, wherever its the player or a other npc, they should simply target the one that is currently hitting them or is closest to them,

this would not only make npc’s that are on your side handier as meat shields, but also give you some breading space instead of always seeing how 50 npc soldiers are just chasing after a huge group of enemy’s that ignore any npc and just rush over to attack you. (perhaps the player smells better then the soldiers?)

Sure I understand “this is a mmo, realism is lesser then quality hard gameplay”
but GW2 was supposed to be “the mmo that would not be like the others” so a change in the AI would not be bad if you ask me, the only reason I play GW2 is course its so different form other mmo’s and believes in a fair earn/level system as well as put more time in a personal story, character development and more unique traits other mmo’s don’t have.

If i am the NPC foe:

“That guy over there is the only enemy able to dodge, looks a lot smarter than everyone, i shall target him, kill it and therefore no OT tonight, go home and have a great dinner.”

I guess that’s every npc foes are in mind.

well then you have a strange strategy, as I always take down the weaker enemy’s so that the strongest enemy will be left out witouth any form of back up, even the strongest enemy’s are weak when alone. This is why it is essential to take down the weaker enemy’s first, as taking down a leader won’t end the battle (ironicly enough this does end most battles in the personal story mode and boss fights, but thats just the game mechanic, in real life its the other way around, as you need to take down the power and supplies of the strongest enemy before taking him/her on in the first place to make a chance of wining)

aside of that in most story events you also have NPC’s with you that exeed you in both rank and strength, even so the NPC enemy’s will still attack you over the leader NPC’s simply course you are the player even if you are on a normal grunt soldiers level.

You don’t understand my words, the foes are there to give players challenge, and by all means, npc foes killing the players = game over for the player. Therefore by all logic, enemy should attack player first. What is the fun when a player in his story mode, the npc allies all become the ranger pet, taking aggo for you, and you are never get targeted?

My logic is as an npc foe, of course i will target player (the one can dodge, npc allies don’t dodge, right?), while finish off the player, the game is over, there is no point fighting another npc.

I have 9 cha, 8 of them are lv80 with every class, mostly decent geared (mostly exotic and mixed a little rare, no intention on ascended gear tho). Whenever i create a new cha, i will preset a personality of him/her, then play the game normal, with different class and race, different choices, and even different “play style”. For example, a ruthless cha will hit first, talk later, and will favor all options that start a fight while a cooled head cha will usually favor options that less violence.

I am still planning to play more cha tho.

I suppose bearbow is a bad joke~~

while i suggest get an off hand axe, the whirlwind defense is quite a good skill vs multiple npc foes. Most rangers complain ranger a bad class due to pvp or wvw aspec, pve ranger is one of the cookie cutter class already, maybe not necessary LTP issue, just try different skill, weapon and pet and you will be alright.

f3 'heel' command should include dodge

Well, this is actually a very smart idea! Grant pet a 1~1.5 sec evade period on F3 sounds perfectly reasonable.

[Merged]1year post launch. How Anet feel on Trinity?

Well instead of trinity you get septinity:warrior, mesmer, guardian, thief, elementalist, ranger, engineer.

Yet none of them has a real unique definitive role that is required in any combat situation. You know, like in the trinity you need a tank, you need a healer and you need DPS.

Now as long as everybody dodges enough and deals DPS it’s fine.

If only Warrior was really a required role in stead of just a class and guardian was and thief was and elementalist was and ranger was and engineer was, then it would become very interesting. But they are not, they are different classes that all fulfill the same general role..

Warrior is only easier to deal with PvE contents not that they are required. It is a very important concept you have to understand. Required means a certain class or role MUST present in order to finish the content, tell me which part of the game require a warrior?

Eliminate trinity is to remove the MUST present of healer and tank role completely and break down the needs of tank and healing to every party member. Yes, certain high skill players / party are well understand the mechanics and able to reduces the need od heal and tank, I think this is an issue of encounter generally in PvE. As i can see more different approach Anet is trying and testing around in LS, looks like more interesting encounter and new defined roles is on the way.

Well before we have more refined encounter encourage more different spec other than zerkers, I for one prefer no clear and defined roles rather than any contents that REQUIRES a specific class or role in order to finish. I don’t enjoy elitist or speedrun but i love the casual nature that any player/class combination is a go to any contents.

I remember someone posted a post here somewhere got a link to poll about trinity.

The poster is a believer in trinity but the result is over 50% in support of trinity gone. This tells something. I for one hope trinity gone for good. What needs to be done, is increase encounter role, which any class any player can fill. No more demanding on specific class or build the ONLY way to play.

I don’t like speed run asking for dpser but i can choose not to join speed run group. I can make my own team welcome any class any build. In trinity i have no choice because i need a tank and healer, the is a very obvious reason i prefer GW2 over any trinity RPG.

Empathic Bond swap with Hide in Plain Sight

Crossaber.8934

If they could make Hide in Plain sight into something along the lines of “Becomes invisible when out of combat for XX seconds” then yes.

How about “when you stand still for 5s you gain stealth for 10s, Xs CD”?

would be lackluster. While my suggestion may be slightly OP, it would have more function.

Your suggestion is quite good tho, OP or not depends on stealth duration and ICD. No matter what it is an investment deep in WS.

Buff Final Thrust

in Warrior

Crossaber.8934

All i wish for final thrust is either a rework of animation or reduce CD to 12sec

As for animation rework, i prefer a 360 degree turning to increase momentium follow up with a small forward step to launch the thrust. This way can keep keep the same activation time with a more smooth animation while also increase the attack reach to 250 or 300 distance.

Otherwise, just reduce CD is also a nice buff.

You need to improve teamwork in this game.

For me, i prefer GW2 combat with a much deeper combat encounter.

Somebody mentioned military and sports above as a trinity point of view. I will say the same but with a non trinity aspect.

I love military teamwork. And think GW2 combat is best represent modern military concepts. Reason? Somebody being gunner, somebody being marksman, somebody being medic, somebody flank… sounds like roles in trinity, infact, everyone of them are able killer, suppressing team and flank team can swap, support can turn into flank, while flank can turn into support, it is actually very flexible. For basket ball team, point guard, power forward, center etc, sounds like trinity role… infact, they should be all able to score, to defense, to pass, to body block…. it is as flexible as GW2 combat roles.

Therefore, i love GW2 combats, combat roles and the “REAL” teamworks that provided. All we need is more complex and interesting encounter that able to deepen the combat depth of GW2.

Warrior is my first toon and i’ve been invested 30 tactics with shout heal once hit lv 60 and no matter how i retraited to different build, i end up going back to tactics. I really love the build with soldier runes and shout heal, short CD, heal, buff, condition removal all in one.

Agree minor trait is meh tho

It will be funny that every players will equip only vender armors and weapons, bags bring trashs. And every loots you get from a dead players is white texted.

This actually happened in very early coop RPG which gear drop on dead.
