I recently started leveling a Guardian, it’s not 80 yet but it has been fun thus far. Decided to go for a spirit weapon build (yea they suck, but why not? it’s just leveling) and I’ve actually found it kinda cool to adventure around and go for the traits I want (this coming from someone who’s been playing since beta).
Admittedly some have been annoying (map complete ones in particular should probably be swapped for something else. Perhaps a player-triggered named elite spawn you have to kill somewhere?), but over all I think it’s a good addition.
If you explicitly LIKE outright leveling as you’re major in-game pass time, which you seem to indicate that you do since you’re an altoholic, I don’t really see why you’d dislike this system. It’s just more goals along the lines of what you’re already doing, i.e the leveling content.The only thing I really dislike about the new traits is the pacing, it’s too back-loaded. 1 point every six levels from 30 onwards, then randomly 2 points starting at 66? should have been the other way around. Or, ideally, just an even spread of 1 point every three or four levels from 30 till 80. I’m fine with not getting traits till 30, since you’re unlocking other stuff up till 30 (weapons early on, utilities, and then finally elite at 30), but the pace at which you get trait points thereafter is bad.
Finally find someone share similar point of view to me. I have rerolled my most disliked class (where i have got all classes to lv80 before patch) and the new trait system actually make me like the class.
Because i was too used to make up a build on an editor before i actually play a class. With the old system, it is too easy to get the traits and really no time for me to actually test the trait in combat. And therefore missed many fun on some of the “weaker” trait.
So i will say i like the new trait system more than the old one.
Simple, transmutation charges! :P
That’s what comes to my mind too.
Without transmutation charges i don’t see a possible way to make it looks good.
To me, the minimum cost to make a full ascended armor looks good are 5 transmutation charges and hide my helmet…

I don’t mind who i am playing with, no matter a random one or from my server. All i know is I am from a time zone where i played at most other player is sleeping. No matter it is NA or EU server. So empty map is what i am usually playing with before patch.
Everyone knows that dungs right now are one big crap , stacking in the corner ,full dps to nuke the boss , skipping , stacking etc. I think that Anet can fix that easily . First when we have range enemies make them stay range just give them aoe which they can drop when they dont see enemy , stacking in the corner wont make any sense . Next bosses ,very often we stack in the corner to avoid some of their attacks because they use them when target is over (lets say)400 range , just get rid of it make range 0 and put only cd on that skill . Next thing I think dungs should be much more difficult but we should get loot from them only once per week (like in other mmo), lets say 4g for finishing cof p1 path and thats it , you can do that dung over and over but you wont see any loot . I think that might help game economy and reduce prices from thousands to hundreds .
Next thing stats ,right now whole pve is full berzerk or die . I think that with new mobs IQ berzerks wont be so powerfull and there would be some place for tanks or healers . Another topic is healing I thing that whole healing power should be change for restoration and all our heals should work on allies or our skills should be rebuild and some self-heals should be team heals .
Some foe or mechanics for AI to fight against stacking is okay, foe or mechanics that slower the speed of full zerker party or make them harder to play is okay too. But encounter that require tank and healer role is simply…………

I begin the game on launch day. I remember how crowded in queensdale, i have tasted every single DE in QD. When i arrived sparkfly fen, i admit i was slow leveler, it is a beautiful map with lots of space. What i mean space is, 0 population.
I tried many different event, sink the risen boat, champ troll etc, alone. Never able to success in those event because of the server i am in is a low population server. I am able to move to a mid populated server during the free transfer period.
Still, i am not able to taste every DE in mid level map what so ever until…. mega server is up. I made a new cha and test a bit the new trait system, it is amazing that wherever i go, low lv, mid lv, high lv map are full of players, and lots of DE that i have never played is up (i’ve 8 x lv80 pre patch). My server almost never beat TEQ once until mega server….
I feel your pain, but for more causal players who don’t join big guild, don’t enjoy organized guild activities (not like being forced to keep attendance for the guild seat, not like being forced to 100% rep), and i rather enjoy pug dungeon, pug big fight, done some random foes with strangers, “good job” and dismiss.
Mega server is doing more good than harm to us.
A work around is add a new female body type (or couple) thats not so female, which is closer to male one and by default these body type only wear male version of armor. But still there are issue for the open chest male armor, female in these armor will have their chest naked….
I suspect that leads to a female head awkwardly attached to a male frame.
That aside, do you really think anet is going to get their money’s worth on both creating this combination and having to maintain it for every future hair and face style that comes along?
for your concern, thats why i said need new female body type in order to make use of male armor skin. i dont know how it will influrence the income if they make such kind of effort.
Actually anet already putting effort to balance out some new release armor skin. Dont you see the new rampart and strider armor got very similar design to both gender. If they got more good feedback by the sale volume they will continue to design so. But if the sale volume is low then they will simply make full covered male and skimpy female to ensure income.

Yes, this is not about skimpy, it is beautiful. I support at least 1 heavy armor include similar skirt.
Just ask Anet to have more variety of armor choice for both side, win win.
Someone claims that there are more skimpy than non skimpy armor, that is a lie or unless somebody cannot properly count. When i am looking at the armor sets, all i can see is well covered armor for every weight class. For skimpy armor, yes, some of them are half naked but it is a rare case.
The armor designs are well following our modern fashion direction, female fashion are more focus on slim cut, tight fit and even boob holes and mini skirts. Why? Because guys love it. In real world, for practical protection gear are not designed with “attractive” in mind. But this is a game, and this is where this kind of fantasy are possible to exist out of real world.
So be productive, stop telling skimpy armor is wrong, instead, suggesting possible walk around solution for the kind like yours.
essentially your biggest opponent right now, is probably not the players, but the bottom line(money aka what sells) Second opponent is the dispositions of the actual designers, even if they tried to make something you like, it may not hit home. I dont think most peoples fashion senses will ever be satisfied until some game formalizes player generated gears. Of course, if that did happen there would be a lot of bad points, as well the good points.
The trouble is that marketing is drowning in sexist ‘facts’ about what does and doesn’t sell. There are publishers out there who still actively rail against female game protagonists because when a game that happens to be female-led doesn’t do as well as expected, that is suddenly evidence that the whole gender is a write-off. This is the kind of marketing “fact” that dictates decisions like not providing male eye candy even if female eye candy is an acceptable thing. Don’t want to make that equally mythical completely straight-male userbase uncomfortable or anything!
I can’t honestly see what we can do better to combat this than to shout out what we want to see, pointing suggestively at our open purses. There is demand for this stuff. Ask anet to add 2 toggle options:
1) to graphic display: show practical armor onlyWhoever is revealing around you, you got your censor, and all you see is fully covered armor.
2) allow an option in character creation: new gender option, female face with man body structure, and can only wear male armor
When the above 2 toggle is added, most of your problem is solved.

It is a weapon enhance kit depends on your main hand weapon, so if you are using rifle, it will turn out to be a rifle based skills, pistol main hand get pistol skill, harpoon gun get harpoon gun skill etc.
The back pack may change but will keep your weapon…. so it will be good with legendary….

When a woman wants to kick your kitten, she won’t wear lingerie, she will wear some huge, intimidating armor and smack you with a Greatsword. On some level im a huge fan of RPing and when walk tyria im always imagining how these are real places and real people. It always makes me smile when I see a female character wearing skimpy armor cause I imagine how she would explain her armor choice. It would sound like something along the lines of:

my rerolled ele was created after the patch. All the desired trait are unlocked through normal play excluded the one required to go eotm which i am not interested in. I don’t even hunt my trait i just do it normally. i don’t even undetstand why they have changed some map completion requirement into killing some boss.
When my new ele reached lv80 he got all the desired traits and about 40% map completion. I like the new system more.
play normal, don’t rush. i made my sunrise in a slow pace too. It is a game which serve as entertainment. Unless the gold earning method is fun to you, don’t turn a game into job.
To receive the exact item type as a result, is to throw 4 of the same item type. mystic stone is to fill up as a same tier item but not act like same item type. so 3 + mystic stone = 3 + random item.
change fortify bond to share boon in both way. Then a bow ranger and gain all the boon from stacking from their pet while staying at max range.
It is not bugged. It is working as intended as of some recent update.
I think if they separated armor pieces into viewable zones, it would help a lot. Say being able to toggle on/off the sleeves or skirt from existing armors. Even better, just remove the race and profession restrictions completely. This way we could mix and match without Anet having to make new pieces. Even if they had to remake existing ones to fix clipping, it wouldn’t be as much work as coming up with brand new armor.
And yes, we need more! I have only 5 looks I use across all professions.

So this is not about skimpy issue… player want more pant without the skirt option, correct? Then why complain skimpy designs when there are more “practical” light armor than “revealing” light armor?
A very easy solution is make new light armor similar to medium armor, more light armor “body” as one mesh with the “skirt”, then the legging will be a stand alone “pant”, combine with any of the existing body, you got nice combination of body and pant, and you can see the butt from behind.

yeah we dont just mean naked clothes, we mean extra material from the top that goes below the waist.
just think of it like this, how many gears have you seen that you can actually see any charachters butt (clothed)

Didn’t guardian already more popular than warrior long time ago? Everytime i saw a greatsword heavy, over 70% is a guardian.
just allow toggle an under armor shirt/pant for female already good enough imo. And for the incoming armor design stick to the princple that male/female version being consistant.

For me, i think the skimpy vs non-skimpy radio is good (for light armor), but the radio is off for medium armor, thats why everywhere is T3 human cultural and the viper skirt. I am perfectly fine if there are more quality non skimpy armor skins, i do. But i think the skimpy : non skimpy radio must remain (or skimpy medium / heavy should increase a bit)
There will be little to no helping if there are more quality non skimpy armor release. People will still run around with the current skimpy armor they can get. I guess strider armor is a good start, it has good balance between protection and skin. My thief is using strider coat and viper skirt, viper boot, looks amazing, only revealing very little skin but enough sexy imo.
Well if you really wanted to, you could have a matrix of mixing armor prefixes to get different effects, like cross-breeding pokemon. No doubt that would be a million times more difficult to balance than the idea I proposed though.
i can say the same if bonus is added to all same prefix gear.
if bonus is add to 6 different prefix gear combo, that means there are always some not so important stat are included. Therefore, give that player a little bonus won’t make him overpower.
what about gaining bonus if every piece of armor is different prefix. As i see no point to buff full zerker gear anymore. On the other hand, using all different gear is doing low damage which is against the gear meta. Grant additional bonus sounds much reasonable.
i will say don’t gamble.
But i am getting sick of the TP price. It is rediciuos to buy a precursor with that price. If you blow all your gold in MF, and if you got nothing, your have nothing left. On the other hand, if you hold on the gold and you have nothing too. So unless you are very lucky (which seems very unlikely), you still got nothing in the end.
But, if you forget about legendary until it chose you as a loot or there are new way or new set of legendary, maybe your gold will lead you to a legendary faster than you can think.
Maybe they were once a ranger and thought ranger sucks and gave up, roll a warrior for a longbow build…

For long range high damage, ranger longbow is still your only choice.

I hadn’t though much about duelling because I mainly play pvp in GW2, but the issue came up for me recently because some friends didn’t want to play GW2 because there was no duelling in it.
I didn’t realize duelling was such a touchy subject here because I have never had an issue with it in other mmos, rather it has been a source of making new friends for me as the quote above.
I actually find it hard to believe that people are so sensitive that they are traumatized by someone asking them to duel.

2. pve is so called for a reason. to fight dump ai. It will be at disadvantage to use pve build and gear to fight a player designated to duel.

There is a split between pvp and pve for a reason. gear stat and skill wise. if pve dueling happens. It has to automatic switch both player build and gear to pvp build. Otherwise the class balancing ranting will be double or triple as of now.

Dueling has never for me been about a fair fight, its just a fun thing to do with friends while questing or to meet and play with other like minded people.
I am not sure if you are somehow confusing open world pvp with dueling, but it sounds like it from your post. The great thing about GW2 is that we have the option to do “serious” or competitive duels in spvp, but we lack an option to have spontaneous fun duels in pve.
I guess you forget how serious Anet treat any kind of pvp content in their game.
Otherwise we won’t have a split in skill as pvp version and pve version. Also gear and stat wise we have a split as well.
Fun alone is not convincing enough to carelessly add duel. A wrong step to add duel as a result is more ranting about class unbalance, breaking the friendly coop atmosphere in pve etc. Balancing is the greatest issue in GW2, try to think about it, when pve dueling is included, how many extra pressure on balancing will be adding to the balance team?
All my characters have separate build for pve or pvp. I don’t think it is fun for me to win a duel because i have better gear nor lose a duel for locked in pve build and gear to fight someone better than an AI.
I think many posters on this forum are being very single minded in that players who started playing GW2 before this system began got accustomed to all the traits being handed to us with no real sense of accomplishment in getting them and now with many of us rolling alts it feels like a “grind” to go through this system. Think about this though… If you were a brand new player it would be fantastic to go through this and have that sense of accomplishment rather than roll through all the content and in a game like this one that doest really have a treadmill gear grind that sense of accomplishment could go a long way…

I have rerolled a new alt (got all classes to lv80 before patch) to try the trait system which i hate the class originally. Amazingly, lots of new experience and this make me like this class A LOT. Because of the new trait system, many contents was generally ignored by players has been revived. When i was leveling, i found new events that i never met with my 8 lv80 during their leveling. So i decided to take a look, a mini underwater dungeon, met some other players, we take down the underwater boss, and bang new trait unlocked. Thats a very very nice experience that never happens before.
So i maybe the minority that actually love this update.

I did join QD train sometimes when i need my monthly done. Train is not the problem, they have their right to get organized and kill champs their way.
But so does anyone in the map. Everyone have equal right to kill a champ when they see want to. Its a matter who kill it first. Therefore when i read someone blame in map chat that the kill order is ruined, i feel bad. It is not train’s problem, it is the players issue. They are the one who caused the nerf hammer to the train in starter zone.
imo, every player have the right to kill champs. i do however occasionally join champ train in order to get monthly or daily done. Whenever i am in those map, i saw some players yew on map chat that someone slayed a champ. I feel sick of this attitude.
When did the good player coop friendly culture get changed? i may get affected by not able finish champ kill achievement easily when i am busy with life. But i am glad Anet does pay attention to this issue. I don’t think this is the solution but at least something at this moment.
I recently dive into another dream game. (My all time favor since 2000. This is series 2)
At lv16, i’ve already done every single quest i can do and i need to repeat the same mission 3+ times in order to proceed to lv17. The game provide multi class system for 1 character that means when i have to level up another class, i need to do the mission from lv1 AGAIN until lv65 when half of the quests are non repeatable. Not the mention there are 6 classes….
Compare to GW2, my most map completion character when hitting lv80 was 44%, the least map completion character was 32%. Map contents alone are good enough for 2x lv80 without a need to repeat any contents. Where is grind?
Legendary? I made my sunrise without grind, i usually just finish monthly and daily for the laurels so that i can exchange T6 materials. I never mystic forge for a precursor and I never desired to get a legendary as well until i got a Dawn from loot.
Leveling there are definitely no grind for sure, as we got more than enough contents for it. New content wise, the game i am now playing, a full 2 years release, only provided a new class and a new race. LS of GW2 is 10 times more contents given.
Finally, one more point, i am playing a melee class, party with a ranged class, i was doing 20% of overall damage compare to him. While i needed to run around chasing the boss in order to hit, he just jump around and shoot, doing damage the whole fight period. I just realise that GW2 already doing a very good class balance after all.
There are thousands of people running around the game swinging Twilights and shooting rainbow unicorns. It’s not that hard to do if you focus on the goal, just takes a long time to get there. Most players give up along the way because they don’t have the patience of dedication it takes.
The average player is not supposed to be able to create a Legendary weapon. This is why they are not called “really cool skins you can buy for $10 from the gem shop.”
100% wrong. One of the selling points of this game was that any player regardless of skill level or play time can do whatever it is they want. Endless gear grinds that restarted every 4-5 months were out, people could do dungeons, pvp, wvw, craft, whatever without having to meet ridiculous outside requirements. Has it worked out perfectly? Of course not, but what has worked out is that the AVERAGE player can certainly get a legendary if they want.

They finish the three gifts and then are stuck with no precursor do to either blowing all their money on expensive mats or simply not having the time or the means to grind out hundreds upon hundreds of gold, when the prices are rising by the day anyway, or having to rely on some of the most rubbish RNG some gamers have ever seen in MMOs. That’s what this thread is has been about in its entirety, trash RNG and explosive price increases, not how hard or time consuming it is to get everything else.
Well, average player is able to obtain a legendary, no matter how RNG rewards precursor, every acc is possible to loot one soon or later. What GW2 focused is contents that all players, no matter hardcore or causal players still able to access. Most game out there, some weapons are very rare and got very slim chance to drop, some player may not able to own them during their whole play time. The worst thing for those game is, the item can not be traded. GW2 is more or less more forgiving than those GAMES, you can get a slim chance to loot, you can MF gambling or you can buy it from TP. Legendary is by no mean for everybody’s weapon skin, and it is already more common than most of the weapon.
i come up with an idea similar to someone did mention before, 10k AP chest.
A token that reward an acc with 10k AP never ever equiped any legendery. The token can be used to trade a precursor box which will reward a random precursor. If the acc has already equiped any legendary, the token can be trade for a random ascended weapon box.
This way player with high AP without legendary have a bigger chance of getting themselves one while it don’t benefit those lucky player. It is not a precursor choice so it will not enrage players that already paid a high cost on TP.
I am a legendary owner standing at 7k AP. My suggestion don’t do me great benefit. It is a suggestion that reward long term players really.
The only armor skin i like in GW was the Templar armor (not the elite one) but i agree ascended armor is one of the most ugly armor i’ve seen. But i think still overall better than skyrim. Without armor mod i really cannot play pass lv5.
The legendary process shouldn’t be “I got everyone else, now what hoops do I have to jump through to get the precursor”, it should be “I have a precursor, what do I need to do to make the rest of the components”.
Can’t agree more, this is what i was saying. Collecting the materials for legendary is epic, if someone already have everything but missing a legendary, the way rest of the wait of cause nothing legendary at all. The quest should start after obtain a precursor.
I am a very casual player. Since i got a precursor, beside i have all crafting at lv400, i am at very beginning of my sunrise jounery. Going for 100% map completion. Getting 1m kama, 100 charged lodstone, 77 clover, 250*8 T6 materials. All of these are epic hard for me and i consider it is quite legendary already.
The game provided 3 ways to obtain precursor: RNG,TP and MF. For someone casual like me, usually not able to finsh long contents like arah exp. So for now 1.5k hours i am only able to finish P1 once. Before wardrobe exist, obtain token is the only way to obtain arah armor skin. To me it is even harder than getting a legendary which at least you can buy from TP.
i agree that more ways for precursor is good but it is all about your attitude. I don’t think RNG and MF is broken. Gambling iis.
