You should be fine if you transmute the skin.

However, if you decide to swap stats on that piece, then you won’t be able to upgrade it to legendary armor.

Thank you both, and its nice for bringing up can’t upgrade if change stat.

Ok, my bad. Did this change, or did I misunderstand it from the start? I don’t remember it being an option when the game started, when I did most of my WvW.

There was no option to buy hero point from wvw at the launch. There is also no option to obtain batch of honor besides playing wvw at launch until achievement chest rework.

Now wvwer can gain hero point and reduce the time needed required towards GoE. Pver can obtain batch of honor from achievement chest to do big spender daily towards GoB. Seems totally fair to both parties.

I have been looking for answers but no luck.

Is it possible to upgrade a Triumphant hero armor piece to legendary tier after transmuted with another armor skin?

I am thinking to use the ascended Triumphant hero armor before i can upgrade but i can’t stand the looks of it.

Recently i got 2 issues that i submitted 2 tickets, both got answered and fixed within 4~5 days, with at least 1 communication with GM per day.

Unless 1 or 2 days waiting for GM reply is forever to you.

It was a mistake a GoB only require 500 batches after wvw was removed from map completion. Then they have tried to add a wvw rank restriction but it was not successful as 14 wvw rank is very easy to obtain. Finally they’ve made wvw teward track….

I still remember my first legendary required to map wvw as well for the GoE, where i was strictly pve only. It took me 4 months to finally take that final poi at the borderland north west tower where it was almost always under enemy control. I got killed countless of time when i travel to the tower whenever it was avaible. I missed that poi until that borderland finally became my home bl.

It is more frustrating than that merely couple hrs of reward track, epecially one can finish without walking outside of spawn.

I know that it can not be used by my character, I ve bought it cause I don’t wanna run 5 000 miles again because even the map progression is not common which is totally stupid. I have lvl up a fresh new alt with Toom of Knowledge . I bought the set with my main cause my map is discovered there , and I thought I ll be able to put in the bank and pick it up with my alt char, but that is not possible cause is soulbound to the one you bought it with. Whats the point ? Achievments are common , bank is common , map is not common , purchase from vendor is not common .Like we play with 2 diffirent account not with 1 , its ridiculous.

Yes, it sounds ridiculous to me, especially when you knew it is soul bound on acquire but you still bought it anyway.

Soulbound map completion, crafting etc, there is a reason behind it. If everyone can del their character and remade another new one, with tome of knowledge on the fly, after 80+ clicks your character is lv80 and keep the same crafting, map completion etc. Who is gonna buy new character slot, total makeover kit, name change contract…. or even who will pay to transfer if they can just del all character and got a free world transfer.

It is very reasonable.

I am exactly the same kind of player as you regarding pve gameplay. Most end game group event are scheduled and you can just join the party formed to complete said content.

Personally i hate those long meta event that if i missed the the joun window i will have to wait over an hour to join the next. Last week i head over dragonstand 30 mins before reset, i joined a squad, stayed until map reset, i got thrown into a different instance with my squad. Since then i can’t join their instance as it is full, the wait is wasted.

Luckily i have found another end game for me, it is called wvw, since then i mostly do personal story and wvw.

I have 3 warriors and i have a strict weapon choice for each race.

If i eventually make 5 warrior with each race each, they will be as below:
Human: greatsword, sword shield, longbow and rifle
Charr: dual axe, axe shield, greatsword and rifle
Notn: hammer, dual mace, mace shield and longbow
Sylvria: dual sword, sword axe, dual axe and longbow
Asura: rifle, greatsword, hammer and sword horn

core PvE daily rewards should be "better"

I get the reason of current daily is to allow players with different game mode preferences to finish daily. There are hardcore players of each mode i got it, but there are very casual players that do all kinds of contents with very little daily game time. They can still finish daily by mixing different game mode daily, which imo is perfectly fine as is.

The other reason daily achievemnt can be mixed, is to lurk players into trying different mode. I was a casual pve players but i do easy pvp and wvw daily until one day, i get in love with wvw and now 99% play time i am with wvw.

Tengu can still make it as playable race

It is very likely Tengu won’t make it ad playable race, which is sad.

Lore wise i have an idea which can make it work.

The Tengu player start adventure when the pact is just formed. Remember there is a Tengu weapon smith joined the pact, he is the father of the Tengu player. The player got a choice when character creation to choose the pact commander race as a pre set commander figure for later personal story use.

The player will start doing cultural and personal story until 3 orders, he will be given a Tengu magical device that allow him to experience what the pact commander had done with the chosen figure. When he is adventuring tyria and follow the pact commander’s footage, he will found something critical to defeat the dragon, but he had to do it himself quick. Make a side story for the Tengu player to be useful in the dragon fight. He will be rewarded as a pact commandet rank which in order to connect to LW story as “commander”.

If a squad do not res dead allies roamers, the discrimination is in their mind, you should educate them instead of blaming the game mechanics. My world i never see any ressing issue or kicking issue, NONE!

If it is your server’s culture, then you better ask anet for a one time free world transfer instead. Even anet removed all classes but one, you could still got kicked out of the squad with your world’s culture.

Quite possibly. But remember that the main reason why this update was brought in was an attempt to entice more people into what was otherwise a dying game mode. (You will never hear the devs say this, but the fancy new rewards they brought in were NOT made for the veterans. If they were willing to keep playing the same mode this long, they’d be willing to keep playing it for another 3 years with no changes. No, just like with PvP, the new shinies were made to try to attract new people in.)

If we’re not succeeding at keeping these new players, then very soon we’ll be back to the same old problems of overstacked servers and dead hours when you can’t even muster enough people to defend your garrisons. (Or worse, there’s people around, but nobody answers your call for help because they’re all busy afk farming their Outnumbered pips somewhere in a quiet corner of the map.)

The reward is to tease more new players to wvw, let them try and get in love with wvw. If this game mode alone after they have tried still can’t make them stay then doesn’t matter they how much time they needed to obtain the wvw shines, they are not gonna stay.

If they get in love with wvw, just play the mode and eventually they will get the reward. If they don’t like wvw there is nothing can make them stay. The worst scenario is the reward is too easy to obtain those players just play a little, take the shines and go, really devalue these rewards.

I rather the pver realised they either start to love wvw or leave in peace.

Can't WvW with medium armors

Thief actually are the most common enemies i have encountered since patched and no matter roaming or squading. Even squad vs squad fight they are widely seen teasing our squadees, isolate and assassinate our members, getting in and out like air.

For sure they are more demanding on personal skill, it is a undeniable fact but they are exceed viable when used right. I also play druid in wvw and i seriously never felt the same way OP felt.

It all comes down to which commander and how pugs is the squad ypu have joined. There are pug squad that got wiped by smaller zerg, there are clueless commander, running with these squad, i am sure get less pip than solo roam.

I do solo roam and squad run, i found solo roam sometimes gain participation a lot faster than running in squad. Some classes are clearly more superior in roaming than being i zerg. But it is the player who decides how to take part in the mist war. The discrimination is in your mind. A party leader pick his own crewmate, this is happening in dungeon, raid, fractual and every other games.

In dungeon and raids i can create own group and it is not limited by anything. The map has limit, even if i made own squad, the 40 something ppl don’t just drop the current squad and join me. I can’t also invite another 40+ people to join me as they simply won’t be able to enter the map due to cap. There is also not endless amount of EB or borderlands… unlike raid/dungeon instances.

You can create your own squad by buying a commander tag like every post patch commander running around. I see anet commander running with thief, i don’t have a problem with him as long as he knows what he is doing.

I don’t get it. The ticket rewarded are capped, vet or not can’t get any faster in getting their wvw shines than new player. The time required to max the ticket per week is a motivation to new wvwer to devote more time into wvw. When wvw vet had already made up that mind since couple years ago.

If you are new and made that mind up than you can acquire the same shine as fast as a vet without ticket from tournment. I am 571 rank and i can’t finish diamond chest last week, what did i lose? Nothing because i will keep playing wvw.

What about change outnumbered pip extra reward to below:

Reward Couraeous buff (+1 to +5) to players that complete objectives during and only when the outnumbered icon is up. The extra pip gained will be rewarded on the next tick.

If a player actually help out his world when the outnumbered icon is up, and have gained this Courageous buff but outnumbered is gone before the tick. He will still be rewarded with extra pips until Courageous buff is over. To remain Courageous buff, you need to remain active in outnumbered map.

Then no need to remove particpation on map swap, but this can stop outnumber map hopper, while also reward players that actually actively fight in outnumbered map.

I agree most of your idea.

But i have some input, currently we do keep out participation when logoff until the drain timer is done. I believe the key issue is if i log off now i will wasted my participation, therefore “I NEED TO AFK UNTIL TIME UP”.

I suggest let our participation still tick even we logoff or disconnected. The reward will be given the next time we login. For example somebody got DC in the lord room in smc, took 5+ mins to log back in, he was double punished by not having capture reward, reward track tick and the pips tick. THIS can fix the dc issues as well as AFK issue in one go.

The Tag extra pip should only reward to players with a minimum 620 rank.

The first patch day i have seen cata at tower gate dropped by newbie commander.

We cant tell if he is an experienced tag or not without seeing their wvw rank, i got invited to a commander that only tag up for pips farm. I have gold to tag up but i don’t want to as i am not experienced enough. But i have to waste my limited play time on these clueless commander, it is not fun seriously.

Look at how gift of battle pve vs wvw arguement, the effort to craft a legendary pve : wvw time ratio already more than 10:1. If the two common legendary gifts turned into another pve time investment, wvwer will riot i can forsee.

What about change the gift to wvw acqure only? Make a wvw collection instead, do you like it? No i guess.

I will say add in a new wvw repeatable achievement which award small scale combat.

Only foes you’ve killed was recently being attacked by not more than 3 enemies will count towards this achievement. So roamer is much easier to gain progress on this repeatable achievement.

Same issue here,on gs/axe they will just bomb you and kite you out as you said,but gs rifle seems to work if you time your gunflame.Other than that a good one will just toy with you on double melee unless hes bad or if you get a lucky cc burst on him.

Yeah, I thought about rifle. I think it would work better than all melee, but a good condi dd should be able to handle that pretty easily too (stay out of range, move in close for death blossom, or reflect with stolen whirling axes).

Maybe a bow-based condi berserker would do it, but I don’t play that. Can’t think of anything else though.

I have been running GS Rifle since HoT hit and the setup is quite effective against thief. I have fought ghost thief and even killed some as well. Vs most classes with fair chance besides condi mesmer unless vs a unskilled one.

First of all welcome to GW2

I will mak some quick answer here.

1) GW2 was trying a living world model that living story and events were 1 time thing, player either show up and play at that period or missed it forever. This is still stay true for season 1 living story. Then they improved the model for season 2, which players can unlock the story for free by login during the season2 period or buy it later if they missed the free unlock. We are at season 3 and finale will be inbound soon. Season 2 is not necessary and is not the latest content either.

2) GW2 community is by far one of the friendiest outside of Raid. You can max your lv alone or you may still find a players leveling their toons.

3) GW2 dulfy will be your best friend

4) you can try metabattle, all classes with builds for every game mode. But i think make your own build is what most fun in GW2 imo.

5) depends on what kind of guild, different guild focus on different game mode but most guild are very friendies, if a guild is demanding, i will just quit, no big deal. You can join ups to 5 guild per account so you can try it out yourself.

Hi i have the same fantasy restriction upon every RPG i have played.

My main is a warrior, sword master, marksman and mercenery. He uses greatsword, sword shield, longbow and rifle. No matter how i wanted to try dual axe and condi build with mace, the only way for me to do so is to make another warrior.

I am in love with warrior GS rifle build and this is a setup that i can strike through pve, drance inside pvp and roam within wvw. Only raid is where i have to take another weapon besides rifle.

You can try all these classes first before making a call.

Shinryuku a popular Warrior streamer on Twitch has been using dual axe in wvw roaming and doing quite well. But then again he’s good enough that he’d probably do well dual wielding tooth picks.

I have watched his video, surprised i was beaten by him once 6+ months ago when i was still relatively wvw newbie.

Anyway, his fight inspirited me quite a lot and i had quite a bit of fun today with dual axe gs setup. I think i will keep exploring the potential of dual axe.

Dual axe warrior in wvw possible?

First of all i am not a fan of warrior with axe. My main warrior is gs rifle build which i am quite satisfied. But seeing the recent axe buff i get this idea out of my head, a dual axe warrior in wvw.

Anyway i am bored with my 2nd warrior in condition gear and i regear him in power gear and dual axe. After some roaming i found dual axe kind of lacking, so i am here to look for some guidance.

Is dual axe warrior even viable in wvw? Did anyone able to make it work to some extend? I am fine either core war or berserker, please delight me with builds and video.

Trouble with the current stub lock is that it’s low risk and high reward. I wish cc was not as spammable but more strategic in nature.

Also – stability has a .75 second ICD between strips.

If you play WvW that’s when you get spammed with CC. A lot of CC.

That means you are being greatly out numbered, cc is not spamable, the truth is you are badly positioned yourself and got chain cced.

Seems it is player issue to me.

Well I can understand that you expect every player to be amazing, but it doesn’t happen and the being unforgiving and elitist would mean that a lot of players will leave the game. Let me put it this way, being “CC spammed to death” has been much more of an issue since HoT was released.

The breakbar mechanic has made WvW a far less enjoyable experience. I thought it sounded really good at the time, but I didn’t know CC would be doled out with the elite specs (and then they nerfed stability – and lots of WvW players quit the game).

I think the WvW community would all be quite grateful for some (in WvW only) reduction on CC.

I by no mean any elite, and it is not elitist either, i am not a skillful player either. But i am a player with tactical mind in heart, especially modern combat tactics, suppressing, flanking kind of style. What i think it is very reasonable to be stun locked if you allow yourself positioned within 5+ foes’ line of fire, it is a player’s issue.

I play multi classes in wvw, i usually bring 2 or 3 stun breaks, stun is similar to suppressing fire in modern tactics, it is supposed to lock you down.

If your role in zerg vs zerg expected being focus fired like frontline warrior, you should make sure to bring enough tools to deal with it.

I never able to escape from 3+ engaging foes even with 3 stun breaks, thats fine, as i am not a skillful player, but i have seen players that able to avoid being stun locked even under 10+ foe’s line of fire, that’s skillful. I am not one of them sadly.

Being stun locked even with 3 stun breaks on your bar is a stun lock.

Being stun locked with 1 or even no stun break on your bar is your build issue.

Case 1, it will noy happened in 1v1 situation unless a totally newbie player or greatly out numbered. Death or stun locked is perfectly fine here.

Case 2, build issues, thats clearly player’s fault for not bring enough tool to deal with possible threat, it is perfectly fine as is.

CC is a potential threat to a player no matter pve or pvp or wvw, to encourage a player to bring defensive utilities in their build. Unless a player is so skillful and able to dodge all damage, cc and still able to dash out max damage in full offensive build. Otherwise it is player issues for not bringing enough defensive tool to a battle.

An unprepared soldier always deservse to die on a battlefield.

Let us summon our alts as Npcs.

I read some post it took 16-20 hours to finish map completion nowadays?

I don’t recall i finish map completion in such a short time period, i remember the last poi in enemy borderland tower next to citidel took me couple weeks to obtain. Especially i was not interested to play wvw at all by that time. Got rekt countless of time running around wvw. I as a newbie thought that capturing a guarded tower is almost impossible mission at all as everytime i saw people taking tower by hitting the gate with their attack skill instead of siege. O man 10+ mins to break the gate… I have no idea there are siege anyway… until years later i set foot in wvw.

So we don’t have wvw map completion to do now? What is left to be done in wvw to justify obtaining a GoB then?

O right, the reward track, it is below 1% effort compare to the wvw map completion seriously.

The game Soul Calibur 3 released back in 2005, much earlier than GW2 had already solved this issue on their create a soul mode. Their head gear show premade hair with your selected hair color unless you have bald type hair style. This by no mean perfect by it works wonders.

Their armor skin will even removed partly if there is serious clipping with another pieces.

Their cha creation is by far my favorite, too bad it is a fighting game not a mmo.

This is not a usual MMO, this is GW2.

You can have all your great adventures in the game no matter which game mode and still have the same chance to obtain most of the skins by collecting gold.

The epic legendary armor, some boss exclusive gears are already locked behind certain pve contents. But there are a lot of players that don’t enjoy raid or triple trouble etc and got lock out from those skins. The game has to keep a balance for skin unlock between game modes.

To fix the game accordingly, is

1) greatly overhaul your character build, bring defensive utilities, stun breaks, stability etc.

Tank is the only reason i left other MMOs, i can live with healer, but tank is not something GW2 needed.

Just let us toggle permanent weapon draw i will be a happy charr.

No offence but i don’t know why you can’t solo it. I have done that twice, almost done the third time if it wasn’t bugged at rift breakbar at the final phase. My first time was succeed even with my friend being locked out after the fly phase.

Back on topic, i think the final instance is easier by using pvp or wvw build in pve gear. More self defense and survival ability, it is not something kill it before you down sort of fight. Learn the boss phase pattern in order to get ready for the fly phase.

Don’t give it up yet, the chance is there.

I prefer mobility, damage and greatsword (it could be standard long sword but weird by both hands). If thief can use greatsword or use 1hand sword with both hands, that will be my class but sadly both are negative here. So the closest class is warrior and that is my main.

I usually die trying to create the above personal preference to all mmo, the closest game was rune of magic, with a warrior + rogue type character with a greatsword. Too bad besides the slightly higher than average damage compare to all classes, it is a trash tier in everything.

I am glad we have Berserker and this is exactly what i want.

Except Scribe, all crafting profession maxed.

Crafting in GW2 is much easier and faster than many existing game, too bad the inflation in resources makes crafting very costy nowadays.

Agree i got the same issue thus cannot finish the achievemnt, it is much stronger now.
