I have been in very even matches, most of the game come close to 49x to 49x, win by a stomp count these couple days.
Is to lure players in and wring as much money out of them as you can with microtransactions. The naked greed has been a turn off, and so has creating a game that gives advantages to people with more money to spend away on a game. You’ve introduced income inequality to the traditional meritocracy of gaming. Even though you still can’t buy skill the game is much more tedious to play with inadequate storage slots, and there’s other things in the gem store that make the game easier to play.
I overlooked this, but I thought I was buying the whole game. But I don’t think I’ll be buying the expansion.
Which company besides NGO are not doing this?
A capitalism world, money is power, all F2P game allow players to buy OP advantages with real money ONLY.
GW2 didn’t give such advantage to credit card warrior so where is the greed is coming from? Don’t be naive, creating a game of course is for making profit, if it is for charity, why not make a food bank instead?

use it in skyhammer, or near a cliff…
use it to knock target player down a cliff could be fun.
I have been expecting my GW1 W/E to make a comeback along with the specialization implement.
Focus is what i really wanted to see as the next specialization weapon for warrior.

GW2 has separated into 3 game mode: PvE, PvP and WvW
There are no such thing as open world PvP in GW2, not even duel, the only PvP content for PvE will be released in the first expansion, duel arena in guild hall. If you don’t enjoy the existing PvP mode, enjoy large scale PvP, WvW is your best bet.
You don’t need to be lv80 to do WvW, just go and play. Make a minion master necro, the minion were improved last update and is now a lot of fun.
Last thing, if your only concern is openworld PvP, this is just not the game you desired.
Login reward, that’s your best friend.
login and login off, 2 weeks is easy going.
It is a high skill traitline with great reward tied to successful dodge.
If it is just additional effect that activate on dodge, those effect should tone down a lot as people will build themselves high vigor uptime and dodge spam thief instead of the intended design.
Salute to the design concept, can’t wait to try Daredevil.
Never going to main a Rev as i have already made myself a main since day one. To main a Rev that means i need one name change contract and one total make over kit to swap my main’s idenity to Rev.
But yes, in some extend, Rev is not as interesting as the new elite spec to me.
its no different whether we are allowed to equip 3 or 4 traitline, players will still equip elite anyway if it is better. 3 traitline means trade off, the core speciality always got something you wants to keep and that makes the deal about trade.
New player get free core game BY purchase HoT.
You can’t get a free core game WITHOUT paying HoT at least $50. No body is getting core alone for free. Unless it is a free trial.
Delay release of HoT in favor of a new spec

i bet warrior rampage also need to be green colored so as to rename the elite to HULK.
I don’t expected to own a legendary since launch.
Until i loot Dawn from a mob during mapping. I guess its all about luck, don’t place your bet in gambling, and relax to play.
This is just a game, legendary or not won’t make a different in RL. A game means entertainment and if you can’t feel joy without legendary, you won’t feel joy with it either.
I am glad they are able to help, and wish you god’s speed to craft your Juggernaut!
Overall i am very happy with GW2’s support, they are doing awesome works!
Since thief will use new weapon “staff”, which mostly probably a melee staff like a martial art monk where they should not “steal” anymore.
Instead, the mechanic will change from “steal” into “donation”.
You shadow step to your foe and transfer 10G into his wallet from your account wallet, which highly surprise your foe and stun them for 3 sec, unblockable.
I just got a few of these Celebratory Dye Packs. Can anyone tell me, before I do something stupid, can you go back after selecting the kit you want a dye from, or is the Celebratory Pack replaced by the kit you choose?
The Celebratory pack is replaced by the kit you choose.
Thanks, I suspected it would be, since it works that way with some of the 2-choice ascended boxes, but it’s good to be sure. I’ll be playing around with the dye preview instead of my celebratory pack then.
Good question, that would be a life saver for me…
Thanks buddy!
I can’t wait to get mine, i am having 4~5 cha reaching 3 years old in couple months.
It depends.
I bought it with the ultimate version as….
1) i am a happy customer for the 3 years GW2 have gave me, where i would love to see it through
2) i am buying gems anyway for the passed years in order to free from gold farming if i want to buy gemstore items
3) i want to take part in the beta weekend in order to try new exciting contents before hand, and so far i am very happy about the beta weekend
4) i have 13 lv80 cha and i would love to create more, 2 extra slots is definitely what i will need
5) Elite spec will provide a lot of additional replay value to all my existing cha
I understand that some or many of you are excited to see a martial artist thief spec that uses a staff, but I’m majorly disappointed with the lack of creativity.
I somewhat agree with you, but let alone your above quoted line.
Thief with rifle being sniper spec is much less creativity than a martial art staff thief imo.
I was very much impressed and eager to create a new cha as Bald male elder thief with arcane outfit and staff… as an asian martial art monk style.
Actually it is good idea to have cultural armor tier 0 and made them into a possible specific racial loot during leveling. But i am afraid it is too late as a suggestion that it should’ve included at launch.
So anyway to just see my statistic?
I’ve been encountering this issue recently and the in game statistic for pvp is quite disappointing.
I bought both black and wing white, and you know what?
I never display the wing backpack because it is everywhere, bought them just because they only last for 1 day though.
The wings look very cool, yes, but i prefer GW1 cape so much more….
Nope. I prefer open world contents, no matter i can play 10mins or 2hours, i can hop in hop out as i see fit, without hurting my allies.
SW VW to be my favorite type of content so far, i hope to see more of similar map treatment in HoT.
i dont think most mmo players want to get everything without playing the game. pretty sure its a very small minority of players than want the dungeon title but dont want to do any dungeons.
Sure, but they might want dungeons they themselves will be able to run. Remember, for a large part of population dungeons, even the really easy ones, are still hard. Forumites, when compared to the rest of the population, are generally exceptionally skilled and esperienced – you shouldn’t assume everyone is around your skill level, or even around you skill potential. There are many players that will never come close, no matter how hard they will try. What you might consider a moderate level of difficulty, that should be cleared by anyone with a little effort, is most likely prohibitively hard to many, many players.
I went into TA this week with a party of five. We didn’t get past the wurms in the beginning after three tries. Two people left the party and with those people replaced, we beat the wurms in no time flat.
Those two people, one of whom was new, one has been playing since launch. Sure eventually they might get it, but everyone has a different discouragement threshold.
Also if dungeons could be soloed, I’m convinced a lot more people would do it. I think it’s looking bad in front of others that prevents many from trying.
Exactly this, I have been desired to obtain Arah heavy legging since launch.(A lv10 noob starring at the dungeon merchant since then….) But almost 3 years passed, i’ve only played arah exp P1 once and i found that it took too long to complete, therefore i’ve never join any arah exp again. And of couse i am never able to obtain the skin until couple days ago i got it from the PvP reward track.
you are not “never able to obtain the skin”. You are compeltely able to obtain it, the point is, you choose not to. There’s quite the difference.
No, it is not my choice.
Time is what i don’t have especially after marrage.
i work till 8pm everyday. 1hr transport to home. i have to start cooking with my wife, about 10pm we’ve done dinner, since then we need to clean up and i am only able to play while she is bathing. That 15-20mins period sometimes not enough for me to finish 1 pvp match.
Every time i contents that require longer playtime, i will have to afk here and there to take care family matters. Therefore i only party with RL friends. We understand each other and we all have needs to attent to family problems.
You are lucky for having so many luxery time to play. I dont because most of my time is working. I live in the most expensive housing city in the world. I have a good salary job which is well above average. But i do not own a house and if i want to, i need to save up all my earnings for 17years no spending a penny to buy a small flat at CURRENT price if the housing got no inflation for that period.
There are many players that only play for casual for entertainment only. I like the way pvp now even i am no pvpers, i can still slowly obtain the skin i desired.
You choose to priorities family/work over playing the game (as you should, i priorities my job first too) I get it, you don’t have much time to play, and while i’m sure that sucks it doesn’t mean some of the higher/rarer/more time intensive rewards shouldn’t exist. Like i said earlier in this thread, there’s plenty of skins out of my reach too, but i’m fine with that. I move on and play something i do like. Rewards should be depended pn the difficulty of the content, not on how little time X% of the playerbase has to play.
Arah armor (while there are paths that take like 30m) is out of reach, the way you schedule your time makes it that way. But that doesn’t mean it should be easier to get that’s all i’m saying.
I have been doing pvp (i wasn’t a pvp guy at all) exclusively for like over 2 weeks, 1 match or 2 a day, and finally gain enough token to buy from the lionarch vendor. It took so much longer time to gain a single piece of dungeon armor than someone who can share times to run the actual exp dungeons.
There are players out there can only able to play 1 hour per day max, one of my RL friend can share only 2 hours per WEEK to play. Both of us must skip all time consuming contents in order to have fun. He is more of a pvper than me, but he never player pvp match outside of hotjoin, i asked him why, the reason is, he don’t want to queue up for 2 mins in order to play. EVERY SEC of play time matters.
PvP reward track is the best example of how rewards can be given with an alternative way besides hard contents. Play hard content for faster obtain or play casual contents to slowly obtain.

You’re cooking with your wife instead of playing? You’re going to your high paying job? You’re choosing to put those as priority over the game. As you should but still, the people with more time can afford to spend it on gaming. It’s a bummer not everyone has it but it’s part of being an adult. Anet is actually doing fine so far, no necessary gear grind, no lv cap increase.
What I agree with Vague is that, the game should always provide multiple ways to obtain same item.
A) hard contents, faster to obtain
B) casual contents, slower to obtain
C) RNG
D) Buy outI don’t mind taking months or years to obtain 1 desirable item by option B.

You are obviously not going to get something that requires a lot of dedication and grind and continually increase in your skill with your real life situation. Luckily there are very few things that require such dedication…
however, PvP legendary backpeice is NOT for someone that can only afford to play 1-2 pvp matches a day…….
if you have a problem with it, too bad.
This backpeice is meant as the endgame reward of your time and dedication to honing your craft in the PvP scene….. its completely meaningless if you 100% of the population can obtain it playing a few hours here and there….
Luckily i can live with that.
Just like legendary, i have 0 desire to own one since launch, and i was lucky that a precursor smiled on me, which took me over 6 months to finally crafted my sunrise. And this is it, thats probably my only legendary able to obtain.
Fractal skins, dungeon mastery, WvW, PvP tournament these are mostly out of my reach. If i am lucky i can hop in a 40% SW and finish 1 VW thats already made my day.
But I wish those contents can also be obtainable by playing casually here and there in a much slower pace.

make open world pvp between races
each race starts from their homecity and fights for control over territories. races get bonuses for territories controlled.
introduce a criminal system. killing people who ain’t pvp-willing in open world gets you criminal points. to many of such points throws you in jail. you can break out of jail and there will be bountys placed on you which people can take up and get rewards.
in a nutshell, something like helbreath.
It is the best suggestion…..
to remove a large chunk of player base.
The best solution is to ask Anet to disable all chest spawn when the preparation is 10%+ until VW…
Chest train will have to find another map or help the map to execute VW before they can run chest train again…
This is actually a win win situation, chest farmers want their chest train, they have to help build up VW. It is fairly easy for just couple of players to build up 10% prep to stop a map from staying in chest train forever.
If you are being verbal abused because you finished event and stopped the chest train, great, just report those players….
(edited by Crossaber.8934)
What about create more achievements tie to DE, and give players new titles came by these achievements.
For example:
Queensdale protector:
1) done every event at least once in Queensdale
2) finish XXX amount of specific event in Queensdale (events about killing bandits, protect water pipe etc)
3) queensdale map completion
Number 2 could be a repeatable achievement, grant a rare reward chest that give 1x rare+ item
Use the above pattern for all maps, this can encourage players to revisit low level map for the title, and doing events in those map occasionally is beneficial in long term.
PS. Then upon complete a regional achievement, for example all maps of Kryta, we can also gain an achievement of Regional hero, and grant a title as well, for example Defender of Kryta…. etc

Forgive my ignorance, I perused the wiki and couldn’t find an answer (although I’m sure it’s there, I just didn’t see it!).
I have an item with two upgrade slots. Both contain jewels. However, the first is in green type and the second is in grey. Does that mean only the first jewel is active? Do I need to attain a higher level to be able to make use of both upgrade slots in an item?
Thank you!
Did you mean you have an ARMOR item which got a minor rune with 2 buffs, first one high lighted, and 2nd one grey out?
If that’s the case, it mean you need another piece of ARMOR item got the exact same minor rune to receive both buffs.
Hope this is the correct answer you are seeking.
In case the above is the correct answer, you will find minor runes(2 buffs, require 2 exact rune in armor), major rune(4 buffs, require 4 exact runes in armor), superior runes(6 buffs, require 6 exact rune in armor).
Therefore, in superior rune case, to receive all buffs from the rune, you need the exactly the same superior rune in every piece of your armor.

So after the relatively easily atteinable exotic gear, the next step is the superlong craftable/randomgenerated ascended gear?! There is nothing inbetween? And why do I need ascended gear if I can do the current content happily in my exotic gear?
Doesn’t the game advertised itself “No gear treadmill”?
This is exactly what it means. If you think exotic is good enough for you, grats mate, this is it, you are no longer required to obtain better stat gear even after expansion hit.
I hope Anet can design more torch skin which is more creative…
There are so many warrior players out there feel unpleasant because torch basically look very ugly and does not match our costume.
What about Torch skin of a Flame ball on the palm like anomaly? What about a torch skin with a blade covered with flame? What about a floating stone with strong glowing light?
If we got any of the above mentioned, your players will be much more hyped when they get torch as a new weapon.
Besides torch, we also need better skin for warhorn too (Tempest ele, i felt you)
For a game cosmetic comes first, MAKE IT HAPPEN.
It depends on how well the elite trait coordinate with existing weapons and traits.
I hope we don’t required to use torch to work with the elite trait to be effective.
Tier 1
Ele, Mesmer, Thief, Eng
Tier 2
Guard, Necro
Tier 3
War, Ranger
I always do these with my ranger, and I’ve yet to be kicked out of a group…even if the actual request is for level 9 and not 1(not that I can’t do lvl 9, but why bother for a daily). I always look for the groups that advertise "For Daily Only – lvl 1(sometimes it’s a higher lvl, but usually not).
P.S. – Fractals are PvE…don’t try and convince yourself they aren’t(so are Dungeons).
According to OP.. PvE is just open world events and gathering nodes.
If that would have been the case this complain would have been posted long time ago.
The problem as the title states and my first post explain is that there are Two Fractals objectives in the dailies, as you can see in the pictures.
You can not finish the dailies if you deeply dislike fractals because the community it gathers. And the punishment for that is loosing AP and Spirit shards. That i think is a big deal.
If Anet thinks is so important to push players to do fractals the most reasonable thing to do is to create a dailies for fractals.
Other than that you are right, i do think that PvE is what you can do in the open world. Fractals are more puzzles for the players that got bored of the dungeons. So please keep explaining me what i write in this thread. Also you can command me to think whatever you see right and good.
I think the daily is fine as is.
I am not saying i am a fractal lover, i am not, i actually a hater of any party content because i prefer open world events. Therefore i didn’t touch any of the fractal and rarely touch dungeon content. So do is say it is fine, it is because the way the daily now is help introduce different game mode.
I don’t roam wvw usually because I don’t like PvP content, I don’t normal go pvp for the same reason. But i do go to wvw to finish my daily…
There is a side effect that slowly get into me, i am now more enjoy wvw daily than pve daily, master of ruin, land claimer, guard killer, camp capture, dolyak killer, big spender, veteran creature slayer <—- these are easy daily can be soloed.
And after i presented these daily to my RL friend, we started to do wvw roaming together, which we never touch wvw since launch (2.5 years…. seriously), and we started to look into wvw build… why? because we met a very strong solo thief, that beat us everytime we met her. She can hold up to 4 or 5 players for a long time, 1 vs 2 or 3 players and beat them.
last night, i wasn’t able to complete my dailies on my alt acc, so i hop into pvp for the last daily, and you know what, i am having fun….
So, i am sure they change the daily that different game mode players can enjoy their game mode MOST of the day, but sometimes it is not easy to finish daily in a single mode. Therefore, encouraged players to try new mode….
them wings will be better if they flap like holographic wings or tequalt wings except slower
i like the wing as is. i dropped the sunless wing because of the wing non stop animation makes my cha looks stupid.
To OP, there are high chance.the wings release again when HoT launch.
What the OP asking is skin inspector, it is not a bad tool as long as you cannot check another players build and gear stat.
Once again OP, how did you obtained the precursor?
If it is a dircect drop or champ bag drop, you have my deepest sympathy.
If it is from the forge…..
feel my wrath is better because it is a shout, and a elite one, with very short CD. I don’t understand why warrior and ranger got no elite shout in the first place.
That’s the boring part of trinity MMORPGs , the best part is fighting the mechanics of the fights, kiting certain 1-shot kill things around, avoiding red circles, killing some adds before they reach the boss etc
That is almost every boss fight in FF14, a typical “trinity” game, so I have no idea where this is coming from other than blind bias.
Remove the “extra” / interesting mechanics from raids and they are as boring as any GW2 world boss.
This is just kittening stupid. You could easily say "Remove the “extra” / interesting mechanics from ‘Gw2 dungeon/fractal Boss fights’ and they are as boring as any GW2 world boss".
GW2 world bosses are boring because you engage them with a 50+ man zerg every time.
You can’t even see what’s going on – you can’t see the boss – you can’t see your character 90% of the times. That’s why GW2 world bosses are terrible. I don’t even know what it feels like to fight them without 30-50+ other players next to me because I never got the chance.
I have soloed Inquest Golem Mark II before we have scheduled world boss, it was a long and boring battle. Its nice tried once…..
As great as this game is, I’ve just never enjoyed playing a DPS class. Even the classes that are more on the “support” side are still not really enough to quench that thirst to be the one helping your allies.
Is there any possibility at all that they will add healing or tank roles and make combat in the game reflect on that?
PS. Ritualist when?!
The game is great because they don’t have healer and tank.
I prefer they stay as is, though i don’t mind if healing become more appealing, but tank is definite “NO” to me.
Never enjoy any combats that require a tank.
this so much, tank is just sit around in the front and mitigate damage and then healer just heals tank while dps fight, everyone should be viable in a fight and need to watch their resources and battle to their fullest, not just focusing on keeping the tank alive. Never enjoyed WoW because of that monotonous system.
Most good trinity games require the tank to execute good skill rotations to mitigate damage and hold hate/agro, the healer to manage mana and possibly prioritize who gets healed when, and for dps to kill the mob before the healer runs out of resources or the fight goes too long and some kind of enraged mechanic activates.
I think this is why trinity is bad. What is the fun to play a game that you are required to use a specific rotation to play every single time? Tank rotation, Healer rotation, Dps rotation…. Seriously somebody thought it is fun.
As opposed to the very real optimal skill rotations that exist for GW2 speed clears?
It is bad because you want a seat in speed run as a healer, not because you cannot play as a healer. The only viable solution is don’t join speed run, find and gather your trinity buddy and do trinity style speed run. Make guild for it, make it a viable speed run option and show us. Build it into an alternative play style and i think many like minded player will join you.
Good luck, god speed!
There is no Healer role in the game though. The “roles” are Support, Control and Damage. Support != Healing
Those are not really roles though because you can do all three on the same character, and there is nothing you have to sacrifice to be good at any of them.
Inhabiting a role is about the ability to dedicate yourself to something. Some people want the ability to define themselves and not just play a character that plays like a kid declaring: “My power is to have all powers”.
The fact is you can do that in GW2, gear up in healing spec and find like minded players, you are good to go.
What GW2 great is they don’t make contents that enforce a party to bring healer and tank role, which imo much flexible than trinity.

You won’t able to get all of them in day one anyway, what’s the different between 15 legendaries and 3 legendaries + updates later.
i believe the new legendaries are come with a bit of lore behind, and by introduction of mastery system, more legendaries revealed with background story. Sounds fun to me.
interesting though not all my lv80 character got the issue. As well as the dye panel bug, both don’t happen on my male warrior, but both happened on my female guardian.
Non sense, Playing BF game, as a full time medic myself, i enjoy rezzing teammate as much as i love to kill my enemies, being the best K/D ratio player on my team don’t automatic make me not a medic.
If you like rezzing and healing other players in BF, is having a smoke grenade in CoD enough support?
Rushing in with a shotgun throwing a smoke grenade is a bit different than playing a medic who usually tries not to be the first to die.
The amount of support GW2 offers is not enough for players who enjoy playing a supporter —>buy another game.
My GW1 warrior can bring more support than a GW2 guardian can. This warrior would be labeled “dps”.The fact is, a medic got the same assault rifle as any as other assault player. Just like GW2, a supportive player can bring tool to aid allies while still able to deal decent damage.
Running cleric equip is more like giving the medic only a knive.
GLF PS war means they want a PS war- it doesn’t mean they can’t complete content without one.
Healers in the traditional sense are REQUIRED to complete content – that’s where the difference is.In GW1 thats not true. Everyone could bring enough selfheal and no healer would be required. But this would cause a huge dps loss compared to 6 full dps chars and two healers (except for some special builds).
Thats why i said i am a medic usually with highest K/D ratio, that means i kill, stay alive and rez my alllies A LOT.
I run my shout heal warrior with mostly berserker gear, mixed some celestial, i don’t think i want to use cleric with shout heal, really, well timed 1.3k heal is much better than random 2.5k heal, 30k 100B is MUCH better than 15k 100B.
Don’t you see people are asking for trinity? Trinity force healer to be the medic that bring a toothpick to battlefield, most stupid idea ever.
Doing damage is a base element for every player, because every player is a soldier, they are supposed to contribute by killing enemies.
Some small amount of support doesn’t turn your “soldier” into a medic.
If you enjoy playing a medic in BF you won’t enjoy CoD “but you got a smoke grenade”.Other games got the same support elements GW2 offers. On their classic dps chars. Not on their supporters/healers. Trinity games got your “flank, suppressive fire, first aid, decoy, infiltrate, snipe”, too. On their dps chars.
Some people like being a supporter, others don’t. GW2 has nothing to offer for these people.
I pretty sure “no trinity” games are really old. Maybe not in MMOs, but in RPGs which got similar gameplay.
Trinity: dragon age, final fantasy, baldurs gate, breath of fire,… Non trinity: skyrim, zelda,…btw: everyone is a “soldier” in GW2, yes. But healing power stat gives you the stats of a classic trinity fullhealer. Vita/toughnes of a classic trinity tank. Thats a huge design flaw. When everyone is a soldier, everyone should do similiar dps. Imho GW2 doesn’t need any stats on equip.

Tell me how many players play full medic or engineer in BF with a pistol 24/7?
