No offense, but this warrior must stay still and die romance is outdated.
GW2 warrior is a much better image of modern soldiers. They are mobility, strong and tactical. There is a huge misunderstanding about retreat. It is not dishonor to nowadays soldier, retreat, stay alive, regroup, planning, re-engage is what every soldier will do. Being a sitting duck, bullet mat, it is STUPID.
Yes, warrior got more hp, wear heavy armor, they can only build to be tanky with [specific gear and trait], that means the survival ability don’t covered all warrior builds. It is different to guardian virtue, ele water/earth, thief stealth, mesmer clones, necro DS etc.
What warrior needs is additional F2, F3, F4 adrenaline skill that provide more active defense before we can talk about the retreat. If we have generic F2~F4 skill that utilize our adrenaline into more sustain, yes, i guess it will be a fair trade off to take out some of our escape power.
Yeah well, this isn’t Iraq and the Warrior class isn’t Navy Seals! This is a video game with a Warrior class that is only Viable in pvp if he shoots arrows? Pathetic!
Yes right, this is GW2, this is not any of the trinity MMO that heavy armor must be sitting duck, this is not 300 nor Sparta too. There is a new vision to warrior class in GW2, stop asking warrior to do what’s guardian are made and supposed to do.
Guardians are Defensive Heavy Armor Melee
Warriors are semi offensive Heavy Armor Archers?
i am not a pvp sort of guy but i always prefer shout with trooper runes instead of cleaning ire in any kind of pvp content. I prefer my warrior go melee but still mobility enough to engage or dis engage by will.
Longbow is so far what most players preferred 2nd set weapon.
Yes, a business make a player feel stupid is bad. So what a player make themselves look stupid instead.
Still gonna blame the game developer? Seriously?
Genesis gets my vote, Entropy comes 2nd, Juggernaut is cool with the effects provided to armor, but the hammer shape is one of the ugliest among all hammer skin imo.

The misuse of the term, “Pay 2 Win”, is rampant on these forums. Obtaining a convenience item or something that is a “shortcut” is NOT “WINNING”.
The term refers to being FORCED to pay RL money to PROGRESS in a game in some manner. Nothing purchase-wise in GW2 is even close to being FORCED (ok, I’ll concede that not purchasing some extra storage would make the game difficult, but there are long term players that still only have ONE bank tab). Beyond that, EVERYTHING is optional.
Outfitting all your characters in Ascended gear and Legendary Weapons is only “WINNING” in your own mind….
Why are we even caring about stupid post like that?
because the post is actually about a legitimate issue, even if the solution isnt feasible. This is a line anet has to walk carefully, and try to come up with a balance that works.
While I am not one of those that blindly believe that the Gold/Gems / Visa-Versa exchange is fully driven by player supply/demand (I think those that do are gulible), I also don’t think Anet manipulates it to make money (but let’s not fool ourselves that they aren’t capable of doing so without anyone having any knowledge of it).
Some players seem to believe that Anet is here for the sole purpose of providing them endless free entertainment and somehow the concept of making a profit on said entertainment provision is an EVIL thing. Their continual self-delusion and battle against this EVIL concept is what 95% of these threads are really about.
The term P2W simply originated from PvP games where they sold stats that let you kill other not paying members easy. (so that is also not like you say, forcing you in order to progress) usually those not paying members could not get the same stats even it require an endless boring grind (how is that’s true for cosmetics in GW2). That however does not mean you could consider cosmetics also P2W especially if the game is all about pvp like GW2.
Fixed that for ya…

The mentor kit is rewarded to the character who beat the elder dragon, therefore it is soul bounded, and he is the only one able to open the kit.
But as Novuake said, the gears that rewarded after you opened the kit will be an account bound gear at lv18, which encourage you to make an alt and be able to use the gear upon hitting lv18.
The logic sounds quite legit to me. It is a tease for you to make alt, if you don’t or not intended to make alt, it is a garbage and you can help yourself by pressing destroy.
What is the point of having only one character?
There are 8 classes, 5 races currently, playing 1 character means your are accessing only 1/8 class mechanic, 1/5 personal story, 1/3 cosmetic gear, 1/2 gender specific cosmetic gear. Dude, you do really missed out a lot of things in the game, and you will run out of content much faster than someone who make alt.
When i got my dawn from drop, i have less than 80 gold, no gift, no clover, 50% map completion and 200 laurels.
I thought I will not able to make my sunrise but I just keep playing, 6 months, i made it. It is a game i enjoy, so it is the same with or without a legendary, why do you need to rush? why feel lost? If you won’t enjoy the game without Bolt, you won’t enjoy the game with it.
I will say GW2 warrior is more of an image of modern soldier.
Mobility, Strong, Flexible, Clever
I like GW1 warrior really, but i love GW2 warrior a lot more.
What i missed GW1 warrior was the adrenaline system, gain and maintain adrenaline for continuous skill attack was too much fun. But i never miss the feeling that hoping your monk cast that heal in time, watching your health going down with full of conditions on you, being crippled while constantly being kited…..
GW1 warrior was honorable but somehow looks stupid to me.
Compaired to other MMO’s I think GW2 is pretty much on the OK part of this me thinks.
I mean, what other games has a whole bank specified to crafting mats? What other games has a button to store crafting mats in the bank without having to go there?
I have always had an overflow of stuff in MMO’s, I always fill upp my storage no matter how much space I have. I collect Junk until it is filled and when it is I get rid of the least valuble junk I have and so on. Since GW2 is my favorite MMO I would gladly pay once in a while instead of paying once a month just to be able to play.
But as I have to complain about the storage I will have to complain about this increase of stupid tokens that isn’t bound to the Wallet like bandit crests and Geodes. Or atleast have a new specific bank slot for them or let them stack to more than 250, becouse it is needed many and we get many.
Agree, i think whenever we get new token introduced, they have to extend our wallet at the same time. I think bank tab should keep as is, but there are still quality of life improvement Anet can and should do.
Awesome black wings??? Sounds like P2W.
i’m really not getting how a skin is P2W……
Pay to wear
Play to wear or Pay to wear
Very flexible and user friendly, win win actually.
1) Voice slider, tune the voice up and down to create youngish or oldish voice. (No need to hire more voice actor)
2) more body fitness type for human (need some bulky or heavy weighted type), more slim body type for norn
3) 2 leg running selection during charr character creation
4) more facial decoration, scars, bread etc
5) more underwear selection
It is understandable for the guild desire 100% rep.
My experience was that, i was interested by a big guild. I have built my own guild with real life friends and i am very loyal to my guild. Therefore when the guild master invited me, i told him i will offer 1 of my alt to be 100% rep.
I was endup got warned and kicked when i was on my other characters.
The guild system is currently flawed. If it allow us multi guild, it has to be character based, and allow us to hide our online status when playing different character that belongs to different guild. I treated all my characters individually and if i have any alt joined any guild, that character will be loyal to that particular guild unless gaining access to the original guild bank.
Since then i never joined any guild that require 100% rep, because it is so much annoying to have to show myself as offline everytime i play other characters.
I don’t care much if we continue to get both outfits and armor sets.
They are 2 different skin system and both have their pro and con.
I’d like a one-handed bow and a two-handed dagger then, please.
Now that’s some advanced thinking. I like to two handed dagger idea. I think the auto attack would be a lot like paddling a canoe lol
Yea. 2 handed dagger could go in 2 directions.
1) dual dagger that some skills can combine both dagger into one single weapon. Either chained or double blade…
2) single dagger with skin that mixed with some martial art. Palm strike, Iron fist etc.
I’ll make it simple for people.
At launch, 100 gems cost 20 silver.
Now, 100 gems is I believe around 15 gold. So a 75x fold increase.
Additionally, many of the easy gold farming exploits have been removed (heavy, repeated CoF1 for example) while many of the new items being added with each update are account or soul bound and/or not tradeable or sellable.
Most of the inflation is caused by the addition of new skins, new vanity items, toys and whatnot. I have no problem with those costing gems, as that’s kind of what the gemstore and the “end game” of GW2 was supposed to be anyways.
What is a problem is simple quality of life improvements that newer players, unless they’re willing to break out a credit card, will never be able to realistically achieve in game. This is a distinct advantage that some players got either by cheap conversion rate or massive gold farming that newer players can never achieve. Which should be against GW2 design philosophy of not allowing players purchaseable superiority.
I recognize that its not a HUGE difference in competitive play, but it is a distinct QoL issue that detracts from GW2’s theme of a fair and balanced playing field.
tl;dr cosmetic or convenience items in the gemstore should be done as is, actual improvement items such as bank tabs, bag tabs, storage expanders and such should either be made available as a gold sink, or adjust the gem cost for inflation on the gold-gem conversion ratio. A good time for such a change might be the HoT release, which is sure to bring a slew of new items, which I’m sure will all be account bound and needed somewhere down the line as a gigantic scavenger hunt.
Incidentally, the lack of easily purchaseable storage combined with account binding and “holdover” items needed for future scavenger hunts (example: the unlimited continue coin from SAB) is what causes many gamers to be prospects for hoarders-style reality shows.
A new account is able to open the first achievement chest at around lv10, contains 1 gold. You can have roughly 5 gold when reaching lv20. This is an actual experience on my 2nd acc.
I remember my first toon, i gathered around 4gold upon reaching lv80. So it is so much easier to gain gold even new players.
So you will be breaking up and carrying some concrete to a giant bin. You can do it over a few days if you like. It will only take time and effort, so I will not be paying you.
Are you seriously comparing playing a game for entertainment to manual labour?
So if you enjoy manual labour then it is considered free?
Dude, do you feel yourself like a manual labour when playing GW2? If thats the case, i guess you indeed need to step away or at least take a long break.
People really need to give up this Time = Gold = Free falsehood. It is ridiculous…
Hey, I have some work that needs doing. Anyone want to do it? You will only use up your time, so of course I will pay you nothing.
People need to understand why they spend time on entertainment. You play and you gain joy out of the time spent. If there is no joy for the time played, it is time to move on to other game seriously.
Oh, 1 hour a day. Still, you rate your time as worth something, yet you claim those who spend their time gaining gold in game are doing it for free. You are being hypocritical.
Wait. You said 1 hour of game play a day EACH WEEK. Why add the weekly part?
1 hr/day = one hour PER day. This is common sense i suppose.
Play time is free, you buy a game for entertainment. You don’t use your working time for gaming right? You use your free time to play and the time you spent you got entertainment out of it. Did you pay extra money for every sec you spend in game? None, so that your play time is free.
If you spend too much time playing that affect any of your working, learning, social, resting time that made you think your play time is not free.
Dude, you need help seriously. I whole heartedly that you are not.
Well in some ways he is right, you know that player time has value, you are paying arenanet real money to get gold, which is essentially other players time. You know time has value, thats why you only have so little of it to play.
Now his solution, may not really explain how making this change will be of benefit to arenanet, but he is right that you should realize you are willing to pay people to grind for you, but at the same time you say their time has no value. Then why is it something you are willing to pay for?
No he is saying that the little time he have is valuable so he pays to be on equal footing with the ones who have alot of time.
Why should all games give everything to people who have a bunch of time and no money?
This way the guy with a bunch of time can gain gold and buy what ever he needs for ingame gold with a transfer fee when turning it into gems.
They guy with little time can take some of his cash and buy what ever he needs for gems.
The gaming company gain money on the people with little time and regulate the influx of gold in the economy with the cut on gold to gem transfers its a win win for all 3.Edit
If you think it takes to much gold to buy said item then fork up some real money bub.
Thanks Linken.
If the whole player base don’t spend real money for gem, new players will eventually started to decline. Who is gonna pay for hardware maintenance, employees salary, further dlc development….
Players that spend their money for gem is actually playing a big part to keep the game running. Players who don’t purchase gem are indeed enjoying the game when somebody pay Anet to keep the game running.
I never said player time is worthless. It is actually the opposite. I said gaining gold is free means we don’t need to pay extra cost (like sub) to play the game. I supposr everyone play when they have free time (play when they are not free is player issue). While we play we traded time for joy, therefore our play time is rewarded. This is where our play time is worth, gold is rewarded when we play, therefore they are free.
The more time spent, the more joy we got, the more gold we gain without extra real money invested.
But your reply seems much more rational, i do enjoy our discussion.
Oh, 1 hour a day. Still, you rate your time as worth something, yet you claim those who spend their time gaining gold in game are doing it for free. You are being hypocritical.

It should start low and scale higher, the more you buy. Linking something as critical as space to gems is severely punishing to new players and people with multiple characters/accounts, and the problem is only going to get worse. A static gold cost is a far better option.
Currently having to buy ~1000 gold worth of gems to max bank tabs and ONE character’s bag slots is ridiculous.
Agreed OP.
Personally, I think anything available on the Gem Store should be available (with reasonable effort) in game without ever having to purchase gems. Obviously though having the Gems would still make it a lot easier to get them. But it’s all about balance and Anet has to make money some how.
Gem can be purchased with in game gold, that means any items in gem store are available without purchasing gem. Gaining gold for gem is quite reasonable effort if you have time to actually play the game.
I am a married man, i cannot afford even 1 hr/day of game play each week, therefore, if gem store item changed to fixed gold price instead of fixed gem price, the gem cost will increase which is a punishment to players that willing to purchase gem for gem store item.
Current system:
Benefit to players with free time
Benefit to players willing to purchase gem for time
Hard for causal players that don’t farm gold and don’t purchase gemOP suggestion, (gold cost must be high enough to remain gem value):
Benefit to players with free time
More money required as times goes for players that willing to purchase gem
Hard for causal players that don’t farm gold and don’t purchase gemResult:
Anet will lose money for reduced gem purchaseYou cannot afford even 1 hour a week? So you value your time do you? You do not consider time to be ‘free’?
If space cost gold instead of gems, the gem to gold price would probably fall a bit, depending on Anet’s usual manipulation. But it would be cheaper to get space with gems because of the much lower gold cost. It would also be much easier for casual players who do not buy gold to get space.
So really, you just want to keep gem to gold prices high for yourself.
1) you seem cannot read. 1 hr/day =/= 1hr/week
2) your suggestion do not consider all 4 parties as a whole. It is not reasonable to ask Anet to reduce their income, players purchase gem to pay more REAL money, in order to encourage players to farm gold for gem more. This will devalue gem further and even less player purchase gold.
3) causal players are the most potential gem buyer because they cannot gather enough gold for gem exchange (like me), when they found it is cheaper to purchase gem than convert with gold, and they want that item so badly, they will buy gem.
4) If bank space become fixed gold, those casual players will just slowly gather gold until one day they can buy one.
You can’t imagine the income lost can deal how much damage to a non sub MMO. I am saying this for myself because GW2 is my most enjoyed MMO that is not trinity on market. I want to see GW2 in grow healthly so they can last until they got beat by another better game.
(edited by Crossaber.8934)
OP, your story reminded me the days where everyone said warrior press 2 to win.
Get over it, they are the crybaby that need L2P.
Hard for causal players that don’t farm gold and don’t purchase gem
I suppose, even then, the only real punishing items are the temporary ones. Which could be fixed by either making all items unlimited, or making sure that they come back every so often.
Still there is no suggestion how to make up the income lose for Anet.
Balance means there are 4 groups to consider:
Players with free time
Players willing to purchase gem
Players don’t farm don’t purchase gem
Anet income
It should start low and scale higher, the more you buy. Linking something as critical as space to gems is severely punishing to new players and people with multiple characters/accounts, and the problem is only going to get worse. A static gold cost is a far better option.

Sometimes I think ANet shouldn’t have put in the gold to gems option. It seems to make some people feel entitled to free stuff.
Are there even any non subscription based MMOs that give away free bank and inventory slots? If there are MMOs that give away free bank slots, I would bet the people are paying a monthly subscription fee. It’s the subscription fee that allows those MMOs to give away stuff. It’s not reasonable to expect a game without a subscription fee to have the same features. One way or another, they have to have income.
Oh I am sorry. I did not know wanting space to cost a static amount of gold meant free. Next time I will check with you on whether gold is a real currency in the game or not, before I post.
The reason why bank and extra bag is behind gem store.
Gold is so much easier to gain nowadays than launch, but cost for gold convert to gem (that means getting gem store item for free) is increased a lot as well. Therefore, the longer the game life, the more expensive gold to gem cost, on the other hand, it is so much easier to pay cash to buy gem than getting it for free.
If bag and bank space become fixed gold cost, the longer a player stays, the easier they get the item for free. This is the reason why Astral said people are asking for free stuff.
Well he is completely wrong. Also, how much gold can you gain now, compared to 1 year ago? It is probably less.
Might look up what completely wrong means. When I started one gold was a good amount for an hour (personally). Now ten gold is fairly common in an hour.
Ok? That has absolutely no relevance to what I said. But nice one!
Shakes head walks away.
Thank you for your random input. Next time follow the stuff you are quoting. Here:
- Astral believes anything that costs gold is ‘free’.
- Astral is completely wrong.
gold is free, anyone play the game gain gold…
unless, you pay credit card for gold, beware what you’ve revealed….
any item with fixed in game gold is more or less free, because anyone play the game with their own pace, can gather enough gold sooner or later without spending a real world penny. That equal to free in a longer term.
As for gem, the more player convert gold to gem, the less player buy gem for gold, it is the reason why gem is expensive to buy with gold. If the Item cost gem, means the later you buy it, the more gold it cost you. (This is the reason of this thread) This make either players with a lot of free time (able to play a lot for a lot of gold: play to win) or players able to pay with credit card (pay for time). This is a well balanced system imo.
Sometimes I think ANet shouldn’t have put in the gold to gems option. It seems to make some people feel entitled to free stuff.

And now we are talking about LS content. Hello, wasn’t this thread about bag and bank expansion costs?
Somebody believed gem store selling extra bag and bank expansion is pay to win.
I can’t think of how these gem store item is pay to win unless, we are playing GW2 for inventory management time attack, the one with faster management speed win, then yes, buying bag and bank expansion is pay to win. We really can’t stop someone plays the game their own way.
But i am a normal player, i play GW2 for dragon, wvw and pvp, so the mentioned items doesn’t make the game pay to win.
This is a setup I call the “Operator” gear.
This is one hell of a good looking charr heavy armor, what is the chest and glove?
On Topic, it is hard to find good Charr heavy armor in my opinion. Sylvari is okay but their legging and shoulder part looks weird….
I think many don’t get the meaning of pay to win, basically a game is pay to win if game developers give any unfair advantage to players that are willing to spend money on the game, generally things that cannot be obtained otherwise or nearly impossible to obtain otherwise.
Bank slots and bag slots pay to win? if you really think so you have never ever experienced a real pay to win game, or worse, a game that wasn’t pay to win, but became one over time.
Your definition of Pay-To-Win is a little bit, narrow minded.
Time advantage. This has been discussed, and now we’re at the point where posters are repeating themselves instead of offering any reason why a time advantage isn’t pay-to-win (which I described in this game as pay-to-equality with veteran players, and pay-to-advantage over new players). I have yet to say that’s a bad thing, (slightly unfair maybe, bad…not really). Question is, why is everyone so wound up over me calling it a form of pay-to-win?
Time advantage is for sure a pay to win. It is because we all buy GW2 not to fight dragon, not to fight another player on WvW battlefield, nor win a PvP match.
GW2 is inventory management time attack, fight over the storage space for our loot, gather as much gold as possible, build ourselves in expensive skin where nobody care how our toons look. These are the central idea of the game. Doesn’t matter i deck out in BIS gear and still got beat by someone in all yellow gear. All matter is that little time management and more storage.
If above is so much matter to your game play, sure it is pay to win.
Me? I don’t even care, i play GW2 to fight dragon, help my world win in WvW, help my team in PvP. Thats what i think GW2 is about. Not playing GW2 inventory management time attack.

In a game where technically no one wins (which is all MMO’s), winning is being a higher level, having more gold, or looking cooler than everyone else. If I can pay for a way to get more gold (which gives me more frequent access to food/nourishments which will help you win in WvW), I’m paying to win. Try again. Seriously, this is hilarious. Keep giving reasons that aren’t actually reasons, or tackle to issue head on!
Think of it like a race where everyone has the same car. The car costs $1000. Person A scrimped and saved and bought the $1000 car, cleaned out his account. Person B was given $5000 from his uncle to buy the car, but only needed $1000, so has $4000 left over in his account. Now they race, the exact same car. Explain how person B has an advantage in this race.
You can’t.
By your logic person B “wins” simply because he has more money. When in reality they both have the exact same performance and cross the finish line at the same time, which is the specific measure of winning in the context we are discussing. Having more money is irrelevant in this particular race between two identical cars.
Food in WvW is easy enough to supply yourself, especially if you play competitive WvW. Just because someone can buy gems to also supply themselves with food, doesn’t give them any additional advantage if the people they are competing against also have the same exact food. Does that make sense? Boy I hope this makes sense to you.
Keeping with the race example, the only advantage anyone would have in this race would be person B over, let’s say, person C who is standing on the sidelines not even competing. By your logic, person B wins because he has a car and person C does not. Technically that would be true because person C does in fact not have a car and if he wanted to compete in the race, would lose since he would be running on foot, but now I have strayed from the context of competitive WvW, thus negating the argument.
I can tell that you will hold onto your P2W perspective until the bitter end. But all your argument really boils down to is that someone who buys gems to convert to gold, will have some kind of advantage over someone somewhere at sometime, thus it is P2W. When in reality, all the gold in the game won’t give you an advantage in actual competitive WvW, competitive PvP, or competitive PvE (if there was such a thing).
According to your car racing theory, I suppose A have to keep working in order to earn enough money to buy the car, what did he do for work? Yes, racing with a very low end car, saving a bit and bit, by terms of money and experience.
So I believe A should be the one with much more experience than B, with the same tier of hardware, A will be the winner. Thats how “play to win” works…
Alright, so lets say that bag and bank-space starts costing gold instead of gems:
What should ArenaNet add to the store in order to counter the losses from no longer selling bank and bag space?
You’re trying to reason with people who wanted everything free, remember?
Not only people wanted everything for free, also people that consider buying expensive skin with credit card is a “win”.
If you are power farmer it should only take you a couple of weeks to get the gold for an extra bag slot. If you are not a power farmer then the extra bag slot merely allows you to a bit lazier.
It should also be noted that the Silverwastes is very easy on bag space thanks to most of the loot being in containers, so the idea that this is some sort of cynical pay to win scheme is even more absurd.
Convenience items like this being in the gem store where a lot of players are encouraged to occasionally put in less than they would for a sub. fee is a much better system that the “lucky dip” boxes where they encourage a small percentage of “whales” with poor impulse control to buy an absurd number of gems.
Not against the gem store leeching money from people with more money than sense, but space should never have been a gemstore item. Even though it was fine when the game launched (when I bought everything), it is ridiculously cost prohibitive now and needs to be changed.
‘Hey new player! Save for a month and you can get a bag slot!’
Yeah, so awesome…
Who got the right to define which item belong to gem store or not? neither you nor me, the right is Anet.
Is inventory important? Definitely. Can we play without extra storage? Definitely. Do a player with more storage got more skill over the player with less storage? Depends. Can we gain storage without paying extra penny? Definitely.
Are new players paying more to buy storage than veteran? No, the gem price remains the same. Remember, convert gold to gem =/= buy, you are actually paying none.
mystic salvage kit is your friend. We gain hundred of mystic stone for free. If your loot is filled faster than your mystic salvage kit usage, that means you are gathering a lot of loot and probably have enough gold to buy enough mystic stone for more mystic kit.
does nothing for the fact that salvaging many items gives you less value than the item itself, meaning there is still an advantage to having a larger inventory. Try again.
Except that you dont win. Its pay for looks and pay for conveniance.
Anyone in a stock ugly looking mismatched stock exotic set can still own your 4000 gold worth of skinned veteran ascended player in PvE, WvW and especially PvP. Even if you look at the worst case scenario which is food, it barely even cost anything, skill and build is more important in any given scenario.
If you call the above pay to win you have no idea what pay to win even means.

If the loot is more valuable than salvage, then you are more than enough to convert your gold from loot into gem, problem solved. It is working as intended.
So. Stop at nearest NPC vendor. Sell Junk. Salvage all unwanted salvagable items. Send mats to collection. If you don’t want to salvage the sell those unwanted items on the TP, no need to even visit a TP location. Now it’s only a problem if you want to keep all those items, for some reason. Other than ascended mats which are account bound, what do you need to keep for a rainy day? Skins go into the wardrobe now. Maybe BLSKs and a handful of GS items you get from the login rewards. I ran over a year with the original 30 bank slots and none of my characters have added bag slots.
I guess I’m doing something wrong.
No, you’re doing it exactly right. Your problem is the assumption that if the advantage is small enough, it no longer exists, and also failing to admit that. That is also the problem of the guy who replied to you.
Man, you guys would have fun playing Destiny, where all the weapons’ kill times are balanced to within milliseconds of each other, well, except for the part where those milliseconds count. Same as in this game when it comes to making lots of gold and making lots of gold fast.
I never said it was a bad thing, so stop replying to me assuming that I’m being negative just because I called it pay-to-win. Try again, or don’t reply to me. Either way, whatever. you have yet to prove yourself right in any way.
1) Some pretty wild assumptions in your numbers.
2) The best looking skins cost no money to get. in fact they cannot be purchased with either gems or gold.
1. If it takes 10 minutes of hard event running to fill your inventory, it will take twice as long to fill an inventory twice that size. The actual length of time it takes to fully fill your inventory is irrelevant (so is the gold amount) and its sad that that’s what your clinging to. Even if it took 3 days to fill my inventory, the numbers show that the person with a larger inventory will still have a small advantage. No wild assumption there. Try again.
2. The best looking skins to YOU cost no money to get. For me, last I checked, a Mjolnir costs a hell of a lot to get. Try again.
It does not since it take afew seconds for you to salvage and be on your merry way, also there is heart vendors litteraly everywere except afew high level zones.
Literally everywhere would mean the game is nothing but heart vendors…
And yeah, the zones where all the money is made has none. EotM also has none.
As for salvaging, with the sheer amount of salvagable crap Anet throws at us these days, you need an infinite kit or your space is once again owned.
mystic salvage kit is your friend. We gain hundred of mystic stone for free. If your loot is filled faster than your mystic salvage kit usage, that means you are gathering a lot of loot and probably have enough gold to buy enough mystic stone for more mystic kit.
did bag or gem price even raised?
Cash to gem cost remains the same since launch. New player do not have a lot of gold, will they convert hard earned gold to gem? Maybe not.
The system is there to ensure no matter how gem to gold cost, the cost to buy gem store item by cash remains .
For players that don’t have time to earn gold, this is the best way for them to keep up with the players that have a lot of time.
So borderline pay to win.
Thats play to win, players that have a lot of time to play can pay nothing to buy gem. On the other hand players that have a life to run need to buy gem with money. Both side do not gain any advantages over another group. Its a matter of money/free time. This is or isn’t pay to win, doesn’t matter.
It is the best business model to a lot of players.
That is pay to win.
it doesn’t matter who THINK it is pay to win. The game is not gonna change. The system has balanced out 3 parties: Players with tons of free time, Players without a lot of time, Anet income.
There is nothing more important than this balance, if the player base only filled with free time players, anet lose money and the game cannot keep running. If the game is truthly pay to win, the player base will be filled with cash hero and the game will decline a lot faster.
We all want GW2 to keep healthy as long as possible. It is unhealthy to a non sub based game if all the players keep the concept of “pay once and play forever, don’t dare charge me an extra penny”.
Pay for time is one of the major income for GW2, and a way to keep the game running for free for many players.

To OP.
i have 10 lv80. I made a new character recently after the daily overhaul. My new character needs to finish the event daily along with 30+ lv80 players. If i am not a veteran, sometimes i can’t even land a hit so to score the event. The lv80 downlevel is not powerful enough to protect new players already. There is really no reason to give lv80 more advantage in low lv map.
If you keep playing. You will spend much much much more time in lv80 high tier gear than a lv80 mid tier geared toon. I know it is a bit painful at max level and not up to date gear. But you will move on and eventually understand what we are saying.

Agree, we need more elements embedded into armor designs, lightning, wind, ice, darkness, earth etc.
Even blue frame is better than plain red fire theme.
Aesthetic sense is very personal.
I dislike many of the GW2 armor designs but i can still find some mix and match looks cool. Compare to Elder scroll series, which i love their system but without armor mod, i can’t even play to mid game, because all their mid to high tier armor design are…. well… extremely ugly.
Glad i am able to live with the armor design in GW2 as they really don’t allow “mod”.
according to personal story experience, we can res him everytime….
Maybe we can kill him res him….. loop….
Make a Tengu and Largos outfit in gemstore…
just kidding, i personally want to play these 2 races….
Agree to OP, start a totally new personal story without involvement of Zhaitan would probably make sense.
No, i prefer more contents like Silverwaste
Dungeon or Raid are never my thing.
Don’t start anything without a precursor. It is the very key compoient that you will get frastrated after complete every compoient left alone the precursor.
unfortunately, GS is the best dps weapon for every single class that can use it.
You’ll likely see necros also rocking greatswords when HoT comes out (when not in DS of course), because it’s bound to blow all other weapons out of the water in terms of dps.
Lol, no its not…
Notice it was “best” and not “most effective”.
Being best isn’t just about DPS. It’s about ease of use, flexibility, and sometimes even theme and appearance.
… which, of course, makes it largely a matter of opinion. Still, you can’t tell me that Ranger Sword is better to use than Ranger GS when fighting in the middle of a jumping puzzle. :P
Notice how it says “best dps weapon” yeah… it’s not.
Not saying they are bad by any means they all have great uses. But best dps… no, they are not for mes/ranger.
Agree. They are not the best dps weapon. i guess “dps” should swap with “effective”
GS are not the best dps but gameplay wise they are the most overall effective weapon. Good mix of dps, mobility and utility.
Warrior – Great axe or Hand guard
Guradian – Polearm
Ranger – Greatbow
Elementalist – Dual scepter
Thief – Claw
Engineer – Cannon
Necromancer – Whip
I hope Revenant doesn’t get greatsword at all.
To me it’s already shocking that along with necro, 5 out of the 9 classes will have a greatsword…
Similarly, the staff. It seems like Revenant will be getting a staff along with Ranger, so this means that 6 classes have access to this weapon. (And if ele gets the sword, then the story repeats itself here too).
It’s nice to see a variety of weapons be used- it also means there will be a greater variety of aesthetic among players. I guess the benefit of having classes use the same weapons is that if you craft a legendary greatsword or staff for example, a lot of you characters will have a reasonable application for it.
Meanwhile, pistols, maces and the bows have very little availability across the classes.
Maybe this is the reason the legendary Mace, pistol, bows are very niche design and doesn’t look serious enough as a legendary.
