I really like asymmetrical shoulderpads myself, but I guess more options is always a god thing.
yes, more option is cool.
Sometimes it is not asymmetrical issue. I found many shoulder skin that only great looking on left/right half. It will be god send if we could just hide the ugly side.
I would suggest an item:
Follower summon stone
It is an item that u can summon any one of your existing alt character to follow you around like any in game npc by double click on the summon stone. The follower is only able to be seen by the user, they will fight like illusions with their equipped weapon but deal no damage.
700~1000 gem is my suggestion
If they can break the zerker meta then I am all for it. Nothing is more boring to me than a game were going max damage is by far the superior way to go. No matter how much healing/toughness I might equip, I will still get one shot like I would in zerker gear and that to me is the problem…many stats are worthless beyond the pure dps ones.
If they make enimies hit faster but smaller damage. If done right would make zerker gear not survive without outside healing because of not enough dodges/blocks.
Tanks could soak the damage better
And healers could keep up.
You’d still want an occasional dodge or die attack too.
There needs to be a line between making it easier for tankier players to sustain in these environments but also making it possible for skilled glass cannon players be able to survive. Forcing a style of play out of a scenario is the same as creating class restrictions, as many players do not possess multiple sets of armor or have interest in doing so or playing anything but their desired role; the same logic as to why people are upset DPS is the “meta” for speed-clears right now – the support and tank playerbase is unhappy that they have no presence, just as DPS players would be if content required them to build tankier. Do note as well that the “requirements” for tank/heal specs are completely artificial and are only defined by the players themselves wanting faster clears, not by the game’s intrinsic encounter mechanics.
I do believe they are pushing this slightly with some of the new mobs in HoT that focus ion grouping up and dealing large numbers of small attacks.
If we have people filling roles you’ll still could be full DPS cause you have the tankier player taking the hit or using active defence and bring kept up by the person that filled the healing roll. You DPS would just have to watch out of AOE attacks which your skilled players could dodge or your going to put extra strain on the support character
This is for group content. For open would you have to make sure that if someone is in DPS that they can kill it before they run out of there active defences and also that someone speced for support can kill it as well with there passive defence
I guess many players that hate trinity not because they want to be pure dps. I don’t like to play contents that it is required to rely on a tank and a healer player to get through. I like to enjoy different combinations of class and different types of players instead of just boring tank+dps+healer.
I like it here that I can to rely on my own dodge, my survival skill to survive, this doesn’t mean solo contents. I want to support my allies and also deal some serious damage, i want to give a well timed shout heal to a dying teammate and just barely able to get him out alive. This you will not find in any trinity game out there because you are being forced to be either 1)tank, no damage no support, 2)dps, no survival no support, 3)healer, no damage
To sum it up, many players don’t like content being gated behind the requirement of best tank and healer.
i’m not against the idea, just wanted to point out how much work it would be.
I understand how much work it will be but the workload can be greatly reduced by making it class speciality new weapon….
i don’t think mystic forge count as drop especially you have 48 hours of unlimited exotic to flush.
It should be DROPS from mob, chest, bag that we should mourn.
Design so it become a class speciality weapon.
That means it is lv 80 only and no need to design for each current set. It can be released to certain class at first so much less skill will be needed.
I enjoy GW2. But i hope GW2 and WoW both able to keep going. I personally hated trinity but i don’t want all games become “clone of GW2” either. There are countless of supporter after trinity style, they need a game they can count on. If GW2 isn’t their answer, they always has somewhere to go. All i want is trinity player stop asking my beloved GW2 to become WoW.
It proved everybody and their neighborhood prefer doing damage.
This is what the most desired and preferred play style of the whole player base. It is the idea of GW2 to remove dedicated healing role by encourage alternative supportive roles in the first place.
I’ve tried Rev and it is not as bad as many players claimed, and i believe it will get better when dps traitline is released.
Teamwork in my head is everyone trying to provide something useful to the party, rather than fully rely on a single dedicated player.
If they start releasing really out of place junk like swim suits, I sure hope they give us an option to opt out of ever seeing it. Just a little check mark in settings that disables anything that isn’t lore and setting friendly, and I’d say sell anything that people will buy. But without such a setting, I would really rather they not.
agree and therefore we never get swimming suit for real.
I think the overall reveal armor no matter sexy level or quanity is just done about right. i dont prefer extreme exposed armor but a bit of chest hole, skirt embedd into armor design to make it look femaine and elegant is what i would love to se.
Men in skirts are hot. Doesn’t matter if it’s a kilt, sarong, or lungi. Boy, those ancient Egyptian men knew how to dress! Come on, guys. Show us your stuff! Put a smile on your faces.
Men in skirt are okay, who said they don’t? But the link you’ve given earlier is definitely not a skirt, correct me if it is. No matter what it is a swimming suit, and this is requested by players for a very long time.
I personally don’t want to see swimming suit everywhere, male or female.

Can Anet make some more skimpy heavy armor for the guys? Something along these lines please
I can see all the male norn warriors donning this…
yes please for all gender and race.
isn’t swimming suit outfit are being requested for very long time?
Dawn. Direct drop from lv60 shark before Scarlet attack lion arch.
non boob plate armor request is legit.
request realistic look is legit too.
But request the above by saying we have more skimpy armor than non skimpy armor is not okay. It is a lie. We actually have non skimpy heavy armor a lot more than skimpy one. But i agree realistic choice is very limited. We must be clear to define boob plate =/= skimpy. unrealistic =/= skimpy. Most armor designs are not realistic nor skimpy currently.
We sure need more choices of skimpy and realistic heavy armor.
I think one of the things that people seem to miss when they call things “boob plate” is that armor follows the physics outline of the character. In most games what is considered plate armor is nothing more than form fitting spandex looking, not because they wish to be titillating, as what those complaining about that type of armor seem to be insinuating, but just the limitations of the graphics used. At least in GW2 some thickness is there, but armor still needs to follow the polygons of the characters body.
My personal opinion is those who complain of “boob plate” really just seem to be hating anything that even remotely hints of a feminine form.
i understand what you are saying.
i am okay if someone request more realistic armor. it is their right but i am not okay if they spread lies and try to convice others that MOST armor in GW2 is skimpy.
It is also their right to tell how and why they hate most of the designs. I complain on skyrim forum how i hated their original armor designs but i also understand it is their game their art direction, who am i to request art direction change? I dont like their design but many may like them.

The travel distances are about the same as they were in old LA at launch before Scarlet destroyed it.
There I missed the LA ruins already…
more crafting stations location, more bank location etc….
And yet people still dont understand..Will you demand loot to keep while playing in new maps on beta toon? Nobody force you to make revenant and play it, if you cant handle the fact that you wont make any money during playing rev on beta slot then tough luck. Wait for release.
Oh no, i’m not asking anything. Like I said, I’m going to mess around with it somewhat, but they’ll get no useful data from me.
I don’t think people will demand drops from unreleased zones, they do however expect to get the same reward they always get from doing the same thing over again. Playing the revenant in a dungeon is not a reward by itself, and serves no gain in the end. Thus, few will do it.
Sounds reasonable at first, but what about new players that pre-purchase HoT with fresh lv10 character, should they also able to gain lv80 relevant loot (for example arah token) with a fully geared lv80 Revenant beta character? There are actually some rewards that is out of reach for newbie players, but they can bypass the inaccessible restriction by playing a lv80 fully geared Revenant somehow.
To my understanding, a beta slot created character (probably can only create Revenant), will not able to access any kind of bank, trade post, in game mail etc. Therefore no matter what we collected with the beta character we will not able to store/retrieve from bank , send or receive from mail. I believe we won’t be able to loot gold either. Therefore the character got stat swap exotic gears that we don’t need to buy anything to test out different build.
Disagreed with a lot of people in the thread.
We have too many skimpy armors already, which already have a lot of variance. We instead need a higher variety of non-skimpy ones. Variety meaning actual differences that are meaningful enough in style.
Currently around 30% of overall armor are more or less skimpy, I don’t understand how is that “too many skimpy armors” already? Isn’t it skimpy armors are too little and needed to have increased variety like non skimpy armors?
Nevermind, i think the radio at the moment is actually good, please keep this radio Anet, that means MORE ARMOR SKIN FOR BOTH!
Because it is generally trendy to say: aaah female armor in video games is too skimpy!
Never mind the fact that the majority of armor sets in game are not skimpy at all.
That’s correct, while 70% of the player base preferred skimpy armors but their armor choices are actually trimmed down to 30% of all the armors. Somebody don’t like skimpy armors, they saw A LOT of skimpy characters running around and therefore, they believe there are more skimpy armor than non skimpy one. In fact, they are either not doing their research or spreading lies.
Anyways, i personally do not mind having more options for skimpy or non skimpy armor, as long as we get more of both in the long run.
There is nothing wrong to ask for armor type that fit somebody’s athletic sense, but where is the manner to request so by spreading lies? Is it actually fair to the game developer?

For heavy armor, i can see the reason players asking for more pant (no skirt or butt cape), i don’t oppose that, and i even desire we got more pant options for both male and female. Slim pant, shorts or even hot pant… yes i mean we need more vigil medium legging or Atherblade heavy legging for all weight class.
But I don’t agree that GW2 armors are overall too skimpy (include medium and light armor), there are actually quite enough choices and easier to mix and match non skimpy and practical outfit than skimpy style (Afterall there are at least 70% of armor are non skimpy comparing to skimpy one). I don’t oppose exposed male armor too if that’s what some players are asking.
Anyway, more OPTIONS are welcome.
I think your complains have more to do with the lack of female sexualized armors in gw2, rather than a real problem of lack of inspiration or good designs.

ppl who want sexualized armors are playing the wrong game
there are tons of Korean, Japanese MMO offer that
and i like GW2 heavy armor set, it doesnt make sense a heavy armor showing so much skin and provide huge defence
A good mmo should provide both practical and skimpy option for players, for that i respect GW2, they do provide a large range of armors to mix and match.
i am happy that i’ve pre purchased. Anet may not pushing GW2 towards the perfect direction but it is where i like it to be. Epecially the unbind of stat and trait makes a whole lot of great changes.
I have 2 more slot left, and 1 extra will also be added after HoT launch as GW2 veteran.
Total Characters: 11

In the Never Ending Story, the hero was a child. And the empress was a child. There’s nothing wrong with fantasy characters being young heros.
It’s a huge problem when people can see them die and role play.
However I wish I could Make my character look older.
Yes i rather given the option to create old characters that looks like and sounds like one. A lot of game let us tune the voice younger or older. This may allow younger and older characters creation without a need to modify character creation screen.
Thats awsome news. Thank you very much!
Isn’t Anet already said that the map will expand into 3 levels? If that’s the case, one top view map already = 3 maps overlapped into 1.
Ask yourself how many times you’ve visit lv1-79 map beside level up alt, gather mat, doing dailies, world boss and dungeon? My experience is, as soon as the world boss event is done, the volunteer map change icon pops up. You can’t deny that those map lack replayable value.
Bigger map means you will feel less populated and also require more contents to fill up. This is the other issue of core maps, lots of space with too many wp, feel deserted even it is a very crowd map. Lets see Orr, even it is flooded with players, 30~40% of the map still feel empty, because meaningful content or event is not filling every corner of the map.
The way silverwaste is doing, you got connected event filled most corner, and everyone is working for 1 ultimate goal, the replayability value is much much higher than any of the core map is able to provide.
Once again it is the issue of quality vs quantity.
I am all for quality map, well designed, crowded, lots of things to work for, getting a lot of attention, everyone work together as a whole for the ultimate tasks, feeling accomplishment after the meta event etc…
If one map is able to provide fun factor for several months, i call it worth every penny.
Fun or not, its up to me and only after i’ve played every corner of that map. NOT BEFORE. And if it is not ups to expectation, i will invest my money else where in the future, no big deal.
I’m going to wait till I know more.
When I prebought Guild Wars 2, I was able to base my expectations on the picture below as well as information given. Where is the picture of the maps of the HoT so I can at least have some idea of the size of it?
yes, you can wait and see.
But for veteran players, we are all lv80, what is the point of getting lv1-79 maps?
And what is the point of getting 20+ lv80 maps if mapping is the only purpose?
Entertainment is what we are looking for in a game, i rather only couple of maps that still give me fun even replay for several months than 20+ maps that only entertain me for a week or so.
uh why not get 20 maps that give you fun replay for several months. especially since the main difference for you is whether its a level 80 map or not.
If there are 20 maps that give me fun replay for several months, i will happily take it. But i am sure if there are 20 maps as good as silver waste and dry top, it won’t just cost $50.
Do you know how much time and effect to create 20 well designed map? How much time needed for debug and testing? Do you remember how long we’ve wait GW2 to launch?
The contents we get from core GW2 is huge, but the replayability is weak thats why people complain they’ve got nothing to do.
Of coz i wants more maps, and more map mode diversity to choose from, but i am also prefer quality over quantity. I am not Anet, i cannot control what’s contain in HoT. If HoT is what they can offer now, i will take it and evaluate it AFTER i tried it, not before.
I take it because i believe what GW2 and Anet was able to delivery me, great entertainment for 2.5 years. I bought the xpac to support my beloved game, if the xpac is not worth my money after all, i just invest my money else where in the future, it is so sample as is.

Couple of mistakes you made. I corrected them.
“There you go people, are you guys happy now that we have 20 new really tiny maps instead of 3 the size of the silverwastes.”
Have you seen Verdent Brink? go check out beta footage on Youtube.
Here is a datamined picture of Verdent Brinks, with Dry Top and the Silverwastes next to it and Brisbane on the far right.
That is ALL? Based on SW I can probably run across that in 2 minutes.
Except you have the 3 biomes thing. It is much more vertical than SW. Besides, is it really about how quickly you get through it? Shouldn’t it be about how long it keeps you entertained and about how much fun you have during that time?
This guy get it.
It is all about how a map can gather as much players as possible and entertain these people as long as possible. If the map is too big and spread players too thin that some area feel deserted, thats probably not a good design anyway.
Anet has gathered the exp from the core maps and sum that up to dry top and silverwaste, map size doesn’t matter, wp number matters. If the map is too big, you need a lot of wp but than it lost the meaning of present in a choke point if everyone can pop out of nowhere. Smaller map but take away most wp makes the map feel much larger, and where to go, when to stay does matters.
Somebody don’t like dry top or silverwaste i get it, but doesn’t mean these maps go deserted. I don’t like dry top but occasionally went there to find buried chest and to my surprise, these map are at tier 4 or 5. That count for something really.

Cut these people some slack. They are not so much defending ArenaNet’s pricing policy, but rather their own purchasing decision. After all, agreeing with this angry mob that ArenaNet gives bad deals, would mean that they would have to admit that they fell for a bad deal. Nobody wants to admit to being a sucker.
By the way, I am not claming the current pricing scheme is a good deal or a bad deal. I have not purchased the expansion myself, so far.
you actualy think someone cares what the angry mob thinks of them?
ps:i bought it 8-)
No, they don’t care what the angry mob thinks about them. They feel they must defend their purchase against the angry mob’s accusations, because otherwise they must draw the conclusion “I am a sucker”.
What they are telling themselves is “I am not a sucker. Therefore, I must have paid a fair price. Therefore, HoT must be priced fairly. Therefore, the angry mob must be wrong.”And this reasoning has nothing to do with whether the angry mob is right or wrong here.
I do enjoy and feel okay with my purchase, if that makes you think i am a sucker, then so be it.
I don’t think they will reduce the expansion price for the veteran anyway, and if you don’t buy it at the end, its your own call. Hope at the end you won’t “be that sucker” if they keep the cost as is.
I’m going to wait till I know more.

people don’t understand map count don’t justify how much fun we can squeeze out from 3 well designed replayability focused map for lv80.
It is useless to get 100+ maps where they clone the same stupid mechanics over and over. True value behind those HoT maps are the whole maps aimed for 1 target, the meta event. Everyone is pulling their own weight to get it done and the replayability is much higher than any of the core map as a sum can provide.
I am rather curious that “to the limit” still grant adrenaline or not, i know josh said yup but since it sounds too good to be true, as a heal skill grant adrenaline and endurance while also benefit from shout trait…
can we have a double confirm here please?
Thank you!
I will explain you why:
Core game = 25 Complete maps, with at least 2500+ events, plus a full story, complete brand build mechanids of gameplay, 8 professions, 5 races and etc, etc, etc..
Expansions represent in the most, 25% of the total ammounf of the core game (And take in count that they don’t need to rebuild the game whole again. Just “Expand” it).
So, how in the world is fair pay the same price of the core game, for 25% extra of it?
the 25 maps came with the core is focused on leveling experience, how many times you’ve revisit those below 80 map for fun after hitting lv80 i bet you can count with both hands’ fingers. I have played SW for many months and still think it is best designed and fun (to me).
If HoT make 3 huge maps that gather around people to do meta events like SW and players are actually able to have fun for another couple months. Which imo is much much better than the 25 maps that came along with core.
Don’t you remember how many players claimed nothing to do after 1 week from launch upon hitting lv80? HoT map sizes are made for lv80 to play, too many maps will spread the player base per map thin while the 25 maps from core game are for leveling which their replayability is extremely low.
The both serve different purpose really.
It will worth every penny if the 3 maps are as joyful kitten then 20+ queensdale, period.
Well here is why you are wrong. The previous expansion for gw1 was also very fun to do with a fully leveled char. It was just as big if not bigger than the core game and introduced some of the best elite areas in the game.
With a map about 25% of the original game this would be the saddest expansion in the history of expansions imo
Well, this is how you are wrong, i enjoy so much of GW1, therefore i own all GW1 except North of the eye.
I hated GW2 before actually trying but later i found GW2 is much more fun to me than all the GW1 + expansion together. And I actually enjoy all the living story and how they’ve testing their “replayable” lv80 map execution. These maps are well thought and require much much more resources to create.
It is how i value my money invested. Entertainment, login, join a map, play one hour or two, logout. To be honest, I play a lot of other games along with GW1; now i only spend time with GW2.

yes, it is the reason i am able to craft my tempered blade backpage couple months ago.
i am happy not only i bought xpac with $49.99 and $50 gems with some free stuff. The xpac is going to give very different gaming xp than core game. Which i think is worth every penny than other games xpac which charge you $50 with exactly same content (higher lv and new gear only) and force you remake your gear.

The expansion is different to the core game as i can tell, we got overhaul on traits and skill, we get glider system that allow vertical map exploration, we may get guild mission overhaul as well etc.
It may not contains the same content size of the core game, but how i see is they are making the HoT content much much more replayable. Compare to other game company expansion, they only release new lv, new gear, but the content more or less are the same (more powerful enemy, which require higher lv and gear to fight), HoT is actually providing more “new” contents, new playing experiences, new playing diversity while still non sub based.
paying a normal expansion price, yet i am not getting “same” gaming experience like core game. Instead, it is half of a new game based on my favorite game, i see it worth every penny i’ve paid.

I’m okay with paying $50 if I get an additional character slot.
Right now, no way. This is borderline theft.
Buy ultimate version and you got an extra slot with $50, the rest $50 is cost for 4000 gem actually. Not to mention there are quite a lot of free gift…
I’ve got to get this off my chest.
-How can some of you look people in the eye and claim Arenanet is not giving you a whole lot of content(HoT specifically) when you haven’t played or experienced everything(and I mean EVERYTHING) that is this expansion offers, hmm? Do any of you have access to some leaked version of the full expansion or w/e? Enough with assumptions and back seat game development. You don’t work for Anet.
-The base expansion is $50. Ok, cool. Historically, most MMO expansions have been about $40-60. So how is this a problem? It’s because people keep equating whatever “value” the game has with games that aren’t even in the same genre: ie every game that doesn’t require an internet connection. They just don’t say it(probably because they dot understand the meaning of their words). Those games(usually) don’t ask for this level of pricing because they don’t have to continue developing content for it. People can continue to play those games well after the publisher and devs have moved on to other projects. MMOs(and MOBAs) don’t get this luxury.
-Yet naive individuals here will procrastinate on the “value” of the prices. There is no “value”. That’s a subjective emotion you make up for yourself to justify your purchase. And there’s nothing wrong with that. However, it holds not one kitten ounce of meaning as far as the quality of the expansion goes. We have reviews/reviewers for that. The price of reason is steep.
/rant
At least we can still all agree that the real only valid argument here is that the standard edition does not come with a free character slot. As it should, at the minimum for people who bought the game very recently.
the arguement that we dont know whats in it, so we shouldnt judge if its worth 50 dollars…
cuts the other way, because, perhaps, we should know whats in it before we decide if 50 dollars is a worthy price?
they should have released at least the overview before they started selling
1)release date
2)number of new zones
3)what are all the elite specializations
4)what is challenging new content
Yes, there is no point in arguing its worth $50 or not unless we’ve seen all the contents. If anybody thinks the current released information doesn’t not worth it, then wait and see until the information convincing enough.
It is not fair to Anet without seeing the whole picture yet.
I am happy so far, Ultimate version is like buying standard version plus $50 gems with all the free stuffs.
$50 is actually quite cheap compare to sub based game for somebody got a life and job.
yes, i guess so, i have bought it and it said after applied the code, i will receive in game mail to get all the items and possibly the 4k gems.
got to check it after work tonight…

They could provide free character slot redeem code to pre-phase players for a limited time to create a sales boost anytime before HoT launch, then only the one who bought before the launch got another extra cha slot while anyone who bought the expansion after the launch get 0 extra slot for stand version.
Ladies and gentlemen, fanboyism in its rawest truest form.
There is so much we dont know so I ask again how can anyone judge value at this point? Surely you’re not going to argue that if HoT has 3 maps or if it has 15 maps it would still be considered to have the same value right?
I actually agree with this. It’s the lack of any information about the content, combined with give us your money that’s freaking annoying.
If the content warranted the $50, the fact that we vets are getting shafted wouldn’t bother me so much. But don’t sell me hype and expect me to shell out coin without some real information. Or lie to us for months on your FAQ’s and try to hide it -_-
If the complaint here was that pre-orders opened before full details have been released it would most certainly be a valid complaint. Its this whole “I am forced to buy the original game even though I already own it” and to a lesser extent the “its too small to warrant kitten price” that I have an issue with.
Lie is too heavy a word. People and companies change their mind all the time. Obviously you need the base game to play HoT that goes without saying. This whole free core game was probably a recent idea by someone who thought it may boost sales by getting people who dont own Gw2 to pre-order the expansion and it was a good idea in that regard because lets face it its much more enticing to pre-order something if you get something you can play right away rather then commit to buy something you dont even know when its going to release! Simply speaking it most likely wasnt a lie because most likely at the time it was written there wasnt the lets give out the core game for free with the expansion idea yet.
Agreed above, and they should give the impression for “free core content access for limited time” where new players don’t buy it now, they will have to buy the core and the expansion.
I don’t know if the expansion worth it or not. I can’t tell how much love or hate towards HoT.
I do know that the price is not my say, its Anet’s game, their call.
They set a whatever price they see fit, and its my call to buy it or not.
I may or may not like the expansion after actual playing, but I do want to play it. Therefore I bought it. Don’t buy if you think it is out of budget.
I cannot see the legit reason to make it loud about how not worth the price the expansion is without actually played it. But it is totally reasonable to make it loud after you played it and you still think it is not worth.
Buy it > play it > rate it
Pardon me. I don’t see the syn between staff and berzerker.
Monk is much suitable to be the super kitten melee staff class.
If berzeker made it a speciality of warrior, dagger sound more reasonable.
But i rather see Focus as i really missed my W/E in GW1.
