When I first started GW2, I realized that we had a bunch of unique classes, traits actually mattered greatly and depending on your class each one had a unique playstyle and choice. A lot of these classes had traits that were powerful, yes. However it was fun because we could make builds around these traits.
Nowadays, GW2… all these traits and choices are almost gone, nerfed to oblivion, we might as well just add some stats to the classes. Most of the best traits are now +% damage or add powerful boons like protection, honestly most of the other traits that were once powerful, were nerfed so much that there isn’t a point in using them.
Opportunity Cost
Remember those powerful effects that if played right and well, could make a trait or skill work 2-10x better then it normally could by combining traits and making the best traits for you. A lot of those now have internal cool-downs, weakening them greatly so that no matter how good of a player you are, you still suck like the rest.
Nothing New
After taking away these traits from players, you simply haven’t really added anything new, its been a year and to be honest, this game has only gotten worse. With the new arrival of other games coming out, you would think you would want to attract players to what you actually sold them when we started.
New things are trivial, the same as old things except worse.
The new runes and sigils added to the game are so weak, it makes me feel like if you actually thought these would have some kind of impact. Runes and Sigils are meant to be powerful effects that can change your class, however because internal cooldowns are thrown around everywhere because of the paranoia of making the game to hard for new players is in the minds of others, you will never have a decent game.
Afraid to make things to powerful
Right now, it feels like you guys are being careful… stupid careful, why are you so careful? You know if you don’t make anything new or interesting besides +10% Damage people are just going to go to the next game and leave this one behind. We need new sigils and runes that matter, traits and skills and runes revamped.
Lack of Choice
This brings me to my last conclusion, lack of choice. The current metas and gameplay offer such lackluster choice that almost every class are forced into speccing points, or using certain runes because they are more powerful then the rest. There will be no elementalist without 0/0/0/0/30 for example, because they would be absolutely stupid not to pick that over anything else, or 0/0/0/0/15 Warrior. There is almost no choice.
For runes, what do you think most people use? Condition Removal, Critical Chance, +10 Power per kill. These are just numbers, and the numbers are honestly getting boring. How about a new mechanic that absorbs damage you take based on your toughness?
Worrying to much about PvE
This is probably the biggest one, because they don’t separate it or spend to much time worrying about separation. They worry to much about PvE. PvE in this game is a zergfest and a complete joke, and I really don’t think it would matter at all if they made skills to powerful. What will happen, the mobs who are being zerged will be killed 1-2 seconds faster by 50 players?
Since Beta
This game used to be a fun and unique game, it had unique traits and little limits on those traits so the players could perform better then others based on seeking opportunity. However that is not much the case anymore, there is only a few FOTM builds that almost everyone takes, kind of like Skull Crack Warrior, why do they take it, because its the only thing they have, everything else was removed and nerfed! Same with elementalist, why do they take only a couple traits, the same exact reason, there is just no other choice if you want to be viable. Same with thief, all the choices and unique traits were nerfed not to critical, because new players didn’t want to handle a hard burst or want to spec for it.
This game since beta, has been taking a step backwards, NOT forwards…
