When I first started GW2, I realized that we had a bunch of unique classes, traits actually mattered greatly and depending on your class each one had a unique playstyle and choice. A lot of these classes had traits that were powerful, yes. However it was fun because we could make builds around these traits.

Nowadays, GW2… all these traits and choices are almost gone, nerfed to oblivion, we might as well just add some stats to the classes. Most of the best traits are now +% damage or add powerful boons like protection, honestly most of the other traits that were once powerful, were nerfed so much that there isn’t a point in using them.

Opportunity Cost
Remember those powerful effects that if played right and well, could make a trait or skill work 2-10x better then it normally could by combining traits and making the best traits for you. A lot of those now have internal cool-downs, weakening them greatly so that no matter how good of a player you are, you still suck like the rest.

Nothing New
After taking away these traits from players, you simply haven’t really added anything new, its been a year and to be honest, this game has only gotten worse. With the new arrival of other games coming out, you would think you would want to attract players to what you actually sold them when we started.

New things are trivial, the same as old things except worse.
The new runes and sigils added to the game are so weak, it makes me feel like if you actually thought these would have some kind of impact. Runes and Sigils are meant to be powerful effects that can change your class, however because internal cooldowns are thrown around everywhere because of the paranoia of making the game to hard for new players is in the minds of others, you will never have a decent game.

Afraid to make things to powerful
Right now, it feels like you guys are being careful… stupid careful, why are you so careful? You know if you don’t make anything new or interesting besides +10% Damage people are just going to go to the next game and leave this one behind. We need new sigils and runes that matter, traits and skills and runes revamped.

Lack of Choice
This brings me to my last conclusion, lack of choice. The current metas and gameplay offer such lackluster choice that almost every class are forced into speccing points, or using certain runes because they are more powerful then the rest. There will be no elementalist without 0/0/0/0/30 for example, because they would be absolutely stupid not to pick that over anything else, or 0/0/0/0/15 Warrior. There is almost no choice.
For runes, what do you think most people use? Condition Removal, Critical Chance, +10 Power per kill. These are just numbers, and the numbers are honestly getting boring. How about a new mechanic that absorbs damage you take based on your toughness?

Worrying to much about PvE
This is probably the biggest one, because they don’t separate it or spend to much time worrying about separation. They worry to much about PvE. PvE in this game is a zergfest and a complete joke, and I really don’t think it would matter at all if they made skills to powerful. What will happen, the mobs who are being zerged will be killed 1-2 seconds faster by 50 players?

Since Beta
This game used to be a fun and unique game, it had unique traits and little limits on those traits so the players could perform better then others based on seeking opportunity. However that is not much the case anymore, there is only a few FOTM builds that almost everyone takes, kind of like Skull Crack Warrior, why do they take it, because its the only thing they have, everything else was removed and nerfed! Same with elementalist, why do they take only a couple traits, the same exact reason, there is just no other choice if you want to be viable. Same with thief, all the choices and unique traits were nerfed not to critical, because new players didn’t want to handle a hard burst or want to spec for it.

This game since beta, has been taking a step backwards, NOT forwards…

Barricades - WvWvW

These barricades allow you to plant down anywhere, they offer you and a small group of players the following stats as long as they are near the barricade, this effects only up to 12 members. This cannot be places inside keeps, however can be placed near them.

In Cover
Reduces all damage taken by 50%.
Increases healing by 100% from all sources.
Removes the AOE cap for those just in cover, your attacks hit all targets.

This lasts until the barricade is destroyed, however this would allow a smaller group of players to stop a Zerg. Artillery placed inside the barricade also gets the In Cover buff, however it prioritizes into the 12 that can get it, and if another player shows up, they get it instead.

Cover also prevents the use of portals and shadow-steps and teleports near cover.

If you abandon cover
If there are no players near cover, it will slowly decay by 3% health every second.

Remove all Global Cool-downs from traits, food buffs, sigils, runes. Just turn them off. (Except Quickness ones. :P)

This would make WvWvW a bit crazy mind you, but it would be a direct counter to Zerging, if I am able to become really powerful alone and take on some people (which IMO, is how it should be.) then people would zerg a bit less and it would make zerging a bit harder. This is how it used to be, because someone with Omnomberry Pies could heal up from a bunch of people who stacked up.

This would also make AOE procs and damaging abilities a lot more damaging the more people inside them.

We don’t need more of the boon called kittenation. It’s still the stupidest kitten ever. Warriors aren’t really the problem when it comes to Retaliation but giving more of this absolutely bonkers boon is not a good idea.

Problem is, the game is designed around that boon. To bunker you need protection, its an extra set of armor.

It doesn’t really matter whether he was right or wrong about healing on a spirit ranger. They are part of the meta, where as warriors are not. If a spirit ranger comes in here complaining about this build it is pretty lame. He probably confused spirit ranger with BM regen builds.

Yeah, sorry. Spirit rangers make excellent mobile homepoints as part of the current meta, and BM regen builds can easily top 500 HP/s, as can many other builds and classes.

Did everyone already forget what Warriors were like before the healing buff?? You could just wear them down in a fight, and they could either stay and die, or turn and flee for their lives.

You COULD move some of the baseline healing into traited stuff, for the same overall result, but then again…. that’d only pidgeonholes warriors into those very traits because they need them to survive. You’ll see MORE gimmicky builds that way, not less.

The reason his healing seems OP is because he’s also controlling you (and you’re letting him) which means you’re not hitting him all the time.

I actually have no problem with you having improvements to your heals, Just as long as you have to invest in healing power like everyone else.

If you check out this thread, you’ll see we are pretty on par when you consider other sources of healing and mitigation. Warriors don’t have the luxury of easy access to reliable regen, evades and heals attached to our weapons, or protection. A lot of us made this class work over the last 11 months, and we got pretty decent with broken heals. Now that our heals have been buffed to the point that a player can’t just faceroll against a good warrior, people are getting hefty doses of skilled players at the helm of a competitive class.

Honestly, I was surprised to see you in here. Even after all these changes, Ranger still looks like a really tempting class to me. Great regen duration; preci and crit damage in the same tree; 150 precision 20 points deep in the power tree; really strong sustained ranged damage; good uptime on fury; stuns, dazes, and evades tacked onto some of your weapons… you guys have some tools that are pretty awesome. If it wasn’t for lemongrass, I dare say my ranger would make my warrior cry.

You’re not magically kicking butt because its all skill mate…You’re doing better now because the overbuffed your class

We also have evades on your weapons like you have Block on your shield, Because you have Heavy armor (and more HP) you get less Evades then us…

I mean did you look a the class list there, You have one of the best heals in the game now with no investment.

Signet healing is actually one of the worst heals in the game if you are facing any type of real burst or consistent poison condition. It’s only good for fights that last a long time (i.e. 1v1 situations against bunkers, such as the ranger BM bunker that you like to run).

Healing surge was brought in line with warrior HP pool and functions similar to other classes’ heals given their HP pools. Also, if you don’t have full adrenaline the heal is relatively mediocre, and we need to constantly be emptying our adrenaline to do damage as a class.

Warriors are not OP. There’s a reason why no one is rushing to integrate them into their tpvp teams. (versus, say, necros).

You realize this build typically has a lot of toughness and multi ways to avoid burst, and you can kitten near be completely immune to conditions, so Poison is not a problem.

and Adrenal a Mediocre Heal? Its heals better then Natural Healing which is a Grandmaster trait in the Ranger BM line….You get it for spending 15 points in a line and its free…Quit your kittening about your Heals being bad.

How pray tell are you immune to poison?

By running anti condition runes and food?

That tends to help..

Though I suppose you might be screwed if you ran across a Thief who just wanted to Choking Gas on top of you a lot.

Not that you couldn’t just remove it by Skull cracking him in the face though (since that’ll remove it)

What about SPVP? You can’t use food in SPVP.

For WvW, which is better? Healing Surge or Healing Signet? I’ve noticed that I die much easier with Healing Surge than Healing Signet, am I doing something wrong?

Warrior is more of a burst class, so if you use your heal then do all your damage ya can also run away and go off the CD again.

I think Sigil of Bursting is supposed to be +6% crit damage, not condition duration.

Why not just use 5% Damage? Base damage is more then crit damage.

I’m gonna admit that spiked armor sucks but what you propose is BS.

project 5 sec CD 20 – 25 sec would sound ok for me.

I just going to say to you one thing, and i hope you research, “Prismatic Understanding” of mesmers, then come back and repeat that again.

I could recomed that this trait applies protection every time the warrior blocks or gains immunity and this will aply protection at the end of those status, it can be too every time the warrior uses a stance.

Edit it also could work like prismatic undersanting but instead give aegis,protection, or retliation every second while blocking or while using a stance.

The change to the graphics make the game ugly and cell-shady, everything is way too bright and it has pretty much made it impossible for me to play.

The once pretty mirrored colors are now all in white stained cell shading, its completely ridiculous.

You lost me on the “you deliver a critical melee hit”

I was expecting something more original than yet another “when you crit” effect.

If it is a grandmaster major trait in the defense line it should be defensive (protection was nice) and trigger on a OMG! situation, not when you are killing a bunny.

I think he meant total damage of the ability is 30k. The last hit hits 30k because of all the other hits before it (aka it adds up.). All chained abilities do this.

Warriors don’t have a problem with retaliation since they got no fast-hitting attacks and high hp-pool to offset the damage. No wonder you can’t see just how powerful retal is.

I would like new traits added, with powerful different effects, but penalties.

For example:

-50% Endurance Regeneration.
-25% Endurance Regeneration.
+10% Damage Taken.
-100 Toughness.
-100 Power.
-100 Precision.
-3000 Health. (Making high HP classes weaker for a stronger benefit, toning them down for better support or healing or sustain.)
-6000 Health. (Traded for Powerful Effects.)

Spiked armor is a great trait, integrated in many of my builds. This gives 50% retal uptime with a little bit of boon duration. Add in a bit from a guardian or whatever and you have 100% uptime, retaliation is still incredibly strong. Especially in WvW. It even helped me win a lot of 1on1 fights in WvW.

It is the best Grandmaster trait we have for Defense.

I am not alone on this matter, even the Red Guard warrior couldn’t get over how powerful this skill actually is. I think you guys are underestimating this one. 50% uptime is strong and retal counters fast hitting builds. It helps to kill mesmers and engineers.

I have seen retal numbers popping up on my screen dealing more damage than I could do in 10second window just with my hammer.

It is the best grandmaster skill you can take in the Defense line at the moment.

Then Grandmaster traits need improved, that way you can pick either Sundering Mace or a defensive trait.

I actually thought RTL was overpowered and granted at the time it probably was, and then every other class got buffed. Now it just isn’t. It needs to be brought back to what it was.

I think warriors should have more acces to retaliation, guardians are protection right, well they are more a tank class, warriors are mored damage dealers, they should have more acces to retaliation.

This trait cd should be reduced.

Eh, spike armor sucks, but it’s okay because Defy Pain is good.

Oh, to make spike armor viable? A 100% uptime passive, with a somewhat weaker retal effect.

Other classes had their grandmaster traits improved, its terrible compared to the other ones.

Daecollo, dont get me wrong, spiked armor is fairly underwhelming, and I’d love to see it replaced.

That being said, your ideas are kitten crazy. The concepts not bad, but your numbers are always INSANE! I’m glad you’re not a balance dev, or there’d be only 1 class in this game.

Whats so insane about it? You have to get references or I just won’t believe you. I am comparing its power to a MINOR trait, which has more power to a GRANDMASTER trait.

I gave it the power a GRANDMASTER trait should have, COMPARED to a minor trait.

The guard minor trait lets you easily have 95% VIGOR uptime. Yeah that probably should come down to 5 duration 10 CD or something. It’s not a good reason to start making such powerful PROTECTION traits for a different class. You’re still comparing apples and oranges here. Not even that, you’re comparing cross class and cross boon.

I dont care if you believe me or not, especially since what im saying really is just my opinion, not a hard fact of any kind…. but generally, IMO, your ideas tend to be over the top, numerically.

It probably doesnt help that you’re… ahem…. “overly vocal” about pushing your buff warrior(!) agenda either.

With a little boon duration which a lot of them use, its 120-150% uptime.

U have a class with 500+ hps BASELINE which can be stacked on top of the regeneration buff. If you don’t think its OP< you are delusional.

Adrenal health is a Trait, which means that it’s not baseline. It’s specced.

And regen is only accessible through 30 points in Tactics AND then running banners, which means we’re a pure bunker build.

Yeah, you DO realize most other facetanking classes can get an effective 500 HP/s without much difficulty, right? Such as Guardian, Ele, Engi? Have you ever seen a spirit range take hits, their staying power is crazy! And while mes and thief dont “take” hits, they do evade them which is still a form of sustain even if it’s not direct healing. I think necro has some sustain issues though but im hardly an expert.

In addition to #6 and Resolve, Guards can go for AH, or healing symbols, have easy access to regen and protection, can get teeny heals on GS swings. Cmon man, dont make me name everything everyone can do to heal/sustain here. The only difference with Warrior is that the heal comes from a single source, signet, instead of being spread around to several smaller sources

If Warrior healing and sustain is so OP now, where are the bunker warriors stepping up to replace Guardians in tPvP?

The warrior build in question takes 20 points in the defense line, which kinda makes it baseline for the build. It takes effort to read the OP and understand it I know, but you should try it sometimes.

Its true that bunker guards can reach more mitigation than warriors but show me 1 bunker guard who can put 1/10 the dmg which warrior build in question can. Bunker guards are being used over bunker warriors because they simply have higher sustain but they lack in anything else….they just perform well in 1 aspect and 1 aspect only.

Also lol @you for mentioning AH in sPVP. Ways to go, now I know you have no clue what u are talking about

Actually Guardians out damage warriors as a bunker, most warriors can only do 400 dps while going full on bunker. That is why they CC instead and let their team do the damage.

The amount of OP claims have possibly surpassed even the old Ele D/D build debate.

They really haven’t. It’s just the same 6-7 players who come into only our forums saying exactly the same thing over and over in every thread. They don’t post it in sPvP or WvW forums because then they can’t use their argument that warriors are just defending an overpowered build and are all bad players looking to hang on to an overpowered build.

There is no compromise needed because the build is fine as is.

Warriors need a way to better sustain themselves and more builds.

I think warriors just need a trait that makes skull crack 1 second more stun if they use Sundering Mace.
