the point of esport and leaderboard, as the title ask, is here just for the internet kitten or e-kitten. wow omg i am on ladder u suck im god. kneel to me gg no re.
shame is this game needed it 6-7 months ago.

im trying new game free to play, every one is closed or open beta, and u know? they have more esport potential than gw2 in release buy to play etc etc.

btw as a only tpvp player i can say u this thing: i watched some gw2 stream and i think that wvwvw is more enjoyable to watch than tpvp, even if pro stream.

If GW2 had more customization and everything wasn’t nerfed to uselessness every month, this would be a rather healthy game.

The base game is less fun then it was in beta, the number of fun skills and viable builds were taken away, with almost nothing to compensate it.

Trying to “balance” the game has effectively killed it, you’ve taken away several viable builds from every class, almost ensuring everyone except a few classes has one meta, although this may be easier to “balance” it makes the game very un-fun, this game is more skill-based then most MMOs out there since you can’t stand and just face tank everything with heals.

You need to unnerf everything you nerfed ‘because’ of quickness. You need to bring back up to par several abilities you nerfed before because of quickness, this includes thief unload/pistol whip, ranger shortbow, and quite a lot of other abilities, these were never overpowered but combined with quickness they were.

You need to “fix” under-powered and underused traits and make every trait as strong as the next either by adding stats to the traits that seem utter fail or making them worth there weight in salt, nobody should be OR feel punished by trying to make an underprepared undermetaed build. This may lead to unbalanceness, however “THAT” is fun to some people, DO not balance based off class, balance based on a classes strengths instead, don’t try to compare classes to eachother, that is what kills the game.

You need to bring back some abilities range and add more viable builds to every class.
1 Every class needs a support role. (Viable, NON-suck.)
2 Every class needs to be able to bunker some how. (Healing/Damage Reduction.)
3 Every class needs viable utility and ways to improve that utility. (Thief Traps…)
4 Every class should have unique and viable class combinations, I would really rework the trees so we can customize our 5/15/25 traits as well as the others, some of them are trash to certain builds and this is just not fair to the ones playing.

There is no point to leader boards or anything if this game isn’t fun to play, and each patch you seem to be making it less fun.

I know you dislike “wack a mole balance.” but some of your “nerfs” have been such things like “-50% damage” with no viable buffs to compensate, that is quite significant for a delicate approach, and you’ve been doing this for a long time. This game will never be balanced because of its skill-cap and you really have to accept that fact and let the players have fun, however the lack of ways to make one “there spec.” is what is making the game boring, and I hope soon you add-fix-redo all the old underused traits/weapons/skills.

One of the reasons for most significant nerfs is your catering too much to the minorities. Most of your changes cater to the “best players” and the “worst players” this is sad, because most of the people who play guild wars are actually the casual players. They could care split if something is a little unbalanced, and they will adapt to it instead of losing to it. In several videos I see the “best players” saying they see the same person dieing to something over and over, this is what I call the “worst player” minority, i’m sorry but they are lambs that deserve that death until they learn how to deal with it. They could learn by asking for help from other players and they will learn to play better by adapting.

Rebalancing the game for the minority will kill it, that is how and why most games today are dieing, they do changes without asking the majority of players what they want.

Cure a condition when you fill a row of adrenaline.

1 Gaining Might (small) and Protection (large) when using a hammer.
2 Gaining Regeneration (large) and Protection (small.) when using a shield.

Agreed. Aside from Dagger 2 and Shortbow 2 and p/p 3, most of our weapon sets 2,3,4 are aimed at utility not damage.

Why even have initiative if its a detriment?

To be a bunker you need three important things…
1 Protection
Protection is the most powerful boon in the game, it is almost like having a second set of armor, without protection don’t even attempt to be a bunker.

2 Condition Removal
The second most important thing to a bunker, this is very important. Conditions are really bad. Often in PvP, many condition users will focus fire on you because they know Warrior cannot do anything to remove conditions quickly and are very “easy prey” to them, as a necromancer player I usually focus on warriors (I can tell if they have a signet) for epidemic, because spreading his conditions to the entire raid is always good times, I mean what is he going to do about it? Lol.

3 Self Healing
We don’t really have many unique options for healing, and our healing is pretty much subpar, Adrenal Health should be healing for twice as much as it does now. I suggested awile back that we should gain health for each strike of adrenaline, this would allow new builds and abuse our “gain extra strike.” traits we have all over, however this just makes the hammer/mace even more worthless then they already are, because of slow attacks and the fact blind wrecks our day.

This is why warrior will never be a bunker and will never have sustain.

"Physical" Warrior sPvP spec?

So now that the 100B tPvP warrior build is useless I started randomly tested different weapons and set ups with different focuses.

After a few unsuccessful builds I decided “hey, I’ll try kick cause it was buffed and I’m having no luck anyway.”

It was GREAT!

With the Physical Training trait the CD is 16 secs so you can use it alot, and it works as a great interrupt as well as a set up for a combo or even for an eviscerate.

The thing is I only tested it in sPvP hot joins and haven’t in a tourney yet, so not against the more skilled side of the PvP playerbase, which means my positive results may have been from people just unable to react to the use of a new skill.

So I’m asking if anyone else has tried this and had good results with it? Or if anyone would be willing to try it out?

Also keep in mind I haven’t tested any other rune sets yet, so don’t think the divinity runes are a necessary part of this build, cause I really don’t know yet :P

Along those same lines I haven’t decided if I should keep the last 10 points in Discipline for Fast Hands and Signet Mastery or if I should put them in Defense for Armored Attack and Defy Pain.

Finally the rifle is only there cause I recently got Tybalt’s rifle from the PvP mystic forge and just like popping it out to show it off LOL It really has no place in this build so if you try it out and find another set up that works let me know, or if you already play this build and have different weapons could you let me know?

I’ve been playing a S/P thief and beat d/d and d/p thieves all the time in WvW/sPvP.

S/P in WvW…wow, I hope I run into you out in the wild someday. I can always use another sparkly bag.

Although, I could see you catching some glass cannon builds or low skill players flat-footed and blowing them up. Against a high skill player patiently running a balanced build with D/D or D/P, you’d be pretty severely handicapped, though.

One day perhaps, it’ll be fun to teach another cookie cutter thief about thinking outside the box. =)

Yeah, we should all go “P/P.” and do less damage then Mesmer’s autoattack by spamming unload and only being able to hit one target.

If your goal is to hit multiple target, why P/P?

As for doing less damage than Mesmer’s autoattack is subjective since it relies which damage connects and actually dealt damage. Immobile target, sure, Mesmer wins, but hardly anyone will just stand there and take damage.

The funny thing about it is, Mesmer’s have 4 other abilities that do damage, and “Unload.” is bursty, but you have to wait 0.75 seconds after using the skill to use another “Unload”, whilst a Mesmer can use Spatial Surge immediately afterwords.

The reason I said that is because they are both channeled “beam” type attacks, and unload should hit targets that get in the way of it, that is what bullets do.

However, because of the high initiative cost and the wait time, and the fact it doesn’t even go up to par with an ‘autoattacks’ damage, and the fact its the ONLY damaging ability…

Yes, the class needs a revamp, nothing else needs said.

The Thief deserves a class Revamp.

Remove the cool-downs and initiative and revamp the class, it just does not work anymore. The ‘4’ second revealed makes things very unpredictable, it would be far easier and better if the moves had a cooldowns, I mean “revealed” is already pretty much one, all initiative does is weaken us in the fact we can’t spam abilities and have to wait for them, and then we have problems like “LOLheartspammer!” because we only have 2-3 abilities that do damage, whereas everyone else has every ability that does damage.

Instead of having long cool-downs, each attack has a short one instead.

We have no boons, thief deserves higher HP or access to “Fury and Swiftness.” I don’t want protection because honestly that is not what thief is about. Thieves could also use “Life-stealing.” as a trait as well for more survivability.

well things such as axe/axe warriors who could trait to get 5% power to vitality, upto 12% damage on full adrenaline, 5% more damage and 10% more crit damage on top of beserkers stance to keep their adrenaline up and higher damage after dodging to go with auto attacks containing chains that deal higher base damage than backstab and a big old finisher?

Or maybe bunker guardians who get fast instant meditations that heal while also healing for every boon they apply while also gaining 160 toughness?

There are lots of combinations out there, which is pretty much why you can’t.

Those are not really broken combinations, on some you can already do them.

However that just focuses on the “glaring” problem that some traits just suck and need revamped. All the traits in each tier should be as powerful as eachother, AND allow player customization.

They should make the reveal debuff happen whether an attack happens or not as this prevents chain stealthing which effectively allows a thief to “reset” a fight when they feel they are losing. All other characters face risks when engaging in combat while the thief can effectively attack then stealth away. Combined with all the escape mechanisms a thief has ie. shadow returns, crippling traps, caltrops etc. it technically allows a thief to troll other players which i feel is detrimental to player enjoyment……

Really many other games had stealth as an ability but it always came with a penalty, ie slow move speed, high cooldowns, increased vulnerability etc never additional buffs like how GW2 makes it – exactly the opposite (higher speed, regeneration, condition removal, increased damage). IMHO too much benefit is stacked upon an already OP skill which make it impossible for opponents to effectively target you. Its like giving a warrior endure pain with a 10 sec CD. Really people need to think about the two sides of the coin……..

Elementalist can do the same, and get away a lot faster.

Im going to give you the benefit of the doubt and think you meant you’d like both more traits and to make it so the 5/15/25 traits aren’t locked in and are selectable in the same way as the rest.

Which for some I guess wouldn’t be a bad idea as some of those traits are questionable at best (here’s looking at you last refuge)

However I think in total that would open up to many powerful combinations with the current traits alone.

The first thing I would like to say is the animation for using an axe in the offhand should be a bit different, the axe is held “way to close” to the face, anyone could just knock the axe back into your eyes, you should be holding both weapons out more offensively.

Currently there is no reason to use Axe off-hand over Mace/Shield, it offers little to no benefits.

Dual Strike -
(Remove the Fury.)
Lunge at your foe and strike them with your axe. (Range: 900.)
Also Add Combo Finisher: Leap

Whirling Axe -
Additionally reflect projectiles.

Every trait you have got nerfed by 25%, so did your damage and survivability.

Neither 25% or 33% is remotely accurate unless a player lives almost solely in stealth which pretty much nobody does.

This combo is just as viable with just as much damage: Steal/Mug, BS, HS, HS, HS.

Sure there are thieves that live in stealth but those are primarily griefers. All they did was add 1 second of out of stealth damage when coming out of a stealth attack. It will have an effect but not nearly 25%.

99% of thieves who play use stealth.

Badly is someone who relies on stealth as a crutch, rather than a tool. Obviously you play P/D, so I guess someone a lot like you.

Do you realize that you have done far more than just make a thief disappear less often?

One second extra on the revealed debuff does not address the problem that most people are having with thieves in WvW and PVP. A burst thief still exists and will still most likely one shot you, the only thing he can’t do is go back to stealth as quick to stomp. Culling was a large reason thieves were able to move around packs in WvW. The instant burst problem was allowing steal to remain off the GCD when MUG is traited. Make it where when using MUG stops other animations or has to wait until others are finished.

Adding 1 second to a 3 second buff is putting many abilities on a much longer cooldown without allowing any damage to make up for it. This also increases the cost to damage ratio of CnD and any stealth ability.

Traits:

Now shadow protector cannot be used in such quick succession (not a large loss, but no healing compensated here).
Shadow’s Embrace being one of our main ways of removing reapplying damaging conditions to our already low HP pool. Making S/x our best way of removing conditions anymore which can be very initiative heavy or prevent use of many other skills).
Infusions of shadow will now obviously proc less often, lowering the overall dps of CnD.
Cloaked in shadows recieves a huge nerf. Now only being able to proc every 4 seconds instead of 3. Over any lenghty fight, this can be a very big deal.
Patience and Shadow Rejuventation also will be Healing less.
Hidden Assaassin will now lower might stacking for the build (although the potency of using it in shadow’s refuge will still remain strong).

Most of the shadow art’s trait line has just suffered several nerfs from 1 problem.

Hidden Killer also comes in, taking away more guaranteed crits from builds that rely on it and stealth to prevent having to stack precision.
Fleet Shadow, small nerf to mobility. I found this talent extremely useful with my S/D build.

Weapon sets.

S/D builds will daze 1 second less often.
P/D will now have to wait longer to keep bleeds stacked and dps nerf as skill 1,2 can be lackluster.
D/D obviously will not be able to backstab as often, dps nerf.
D/P small nerf to dps using combo field, although speccing heavy into initiative regen builds that may use this to blind often will suffer more.


So far I see nothing to compensate the thief for being exposed more often especially after having an entire trait line and several weapon sets that seem dedicated to the idea of being elusive. If you want thieves to be seen more often then corresponding skills should have been buffed and tweaked to keep their effectiveness.

Stealth was also one of our powerful “dodge” mechanics. I think most would agree this class must dodge to survive more than many others, while having half of our weapon set be in melee range. At the very least the dodge bar for thieves could have been increased to 3 or 4 instead of 2, and the stealth weapon skills could have a damage/duration buff.

I just fill this is a very very bandaid fix on top of a culling issue.

Don’t worry, D/D Elementalist isn’t effected by these changes at all.

Again, too much homogenization going on. Why don’t you just combine warrior and guardians, rangers and thieves, and all the caster classes so you only have to pick Heavy, medium, or light classes and you can play all of them.

I also agree CookMETinder. Group up all your suggestions in to one post. I think I saw you have 5 open posts at one specific time on here. My brain is always thinking about ways to improve and play GW2 but even I know when to chill.

Id have to argue that Hammers Uniqueness is in its CC and Aoe dps/cc abilities which no other set gives. Not to mention a few traits can make Hammer a pretty respectable weapon for both skirmishes/1v1 and zerg/group play. It does lack PvE qualities which i wish anet could somehow buff, but i think Hammers are actually fine as they are. Perhaps a slight buff to animation smoothness and reliability of earthshaker landing, and perhaps to really buff the hammer is to allow staggering blow to work while moving. I doubt we need to have protection on Hammer to be like guardians Hammer skills.

The problem is hammers are very easy to avoid, and since they are that way, people can just roll out of the way or trash you, Hammers need protection because they are slow and melee.

Guardian does have protection however it is GROUP protection, and it also has arguably more CC and a Gap closer, it is much faster then Warrior hammer and because it has a gap closer, you don’t need to take time running up like a warrior does, nore do the attacks root you.

@Coaxial:
The Mace offhand gives a knock down that is much easier to use then the hammer and 100x better in almost all situations.

Why? Hammers arn’t unique at all, they are weapons that require you to to hit the target specifically, however the problem is, they just arn’t tanky, and they need to be to have a hammer in the first place.

Well it’s stronger than comparable traits other classes got and still comes earlier (‘Power of the Virtues’ is minor trait at 25 points in Virtues). As a minor trait i would put it at least at the ‘15’ position if not ‘25’.

(Hey, it’ only fair. You want our heals, boons and damage mitigation so you should at least have to give up on something on exchange )

Well the ‘5’ point trait is worthless too it feels like.

I would think it should give something like “5 seconds of vigor on critical.” (Cooldown: 5s)

The ‘5’ point trait in vitality tree and “Empowered” need moved.

Empowered is just a really nice skill to have, and its pretty much what the tree focuses on, boons and more boons.

They can switch the traits out, since empowered is pretty much what everyone is going to get anyways, it deserves to be the ‘5’ point trait. (or atleast the 15 point one… but meh, the ‘5’ point one and the 15 point one are both pretty horrible, V-tree is probably the worst in the game.)

Change Necrotic Grasp to be a “Spectral Beam.” type attack.
Send out a spectral beam that damages and burns foes in a line and grants you life force.
Damage (3x): 246
Burning: 1 s (328 damage)
Life force: 1% per hit.
Combo Finisher: Physical Projectile (20% chance)
Range: 1,200

Not only would it be very pretty, since that green is very nice and pretty, but it would probably sound more pleasing.

Why Burning? “Spectral Burns.”, ever heard of the burns people get when they go see those scary haunted houses? this kind of applies to this.

How about actually making the defensive part of Bountiful Theft, ( Trickery VII ) a bit more usefull, each time i rip those 12 second protections or long stabilities i feel a bit depressed to see those boons only return to me for 3 seconds, which makes the defensive thought behind this rather lackluster.

I’m not gonna ask for a full duration steal or full stack steal on might and whatnot as that would make this rather broken how-ever it would be nice to actually utilize on the stolen boons rathen then it just being a plain strip with a really short return, perhaps upgrading it to 5-10 seconds would at least make the defensive side on these boon strips a bit more interesting.

Or moving it to a non-condition tree. Having our main tree being condition damage kind of sucks because you can’t really focus on both :<

I actually think D/D Backstab Thief (the one getting nerfed.) is a lot harder to play then D/D Ele.

It has little to no CC Removal, Low Crowd Control itself, Low HP, Low Armor, Unforgiving Gameplay.

It may use 2-3 buttons unlike D/D Ele, but the cost of the fact “YOU MUST HIT” the target and you have to predict where it is going, and must have position makes it that much harder.

As an Ele, I can just rush at a target and spam my rotation, I don’t need to aim, I don’t need to time my dodges perfectly or die instantly, I don’t need to be in melee, and I don’t care if I miss an attack-I have more.

I don’t really think it’s that much better. You can already increase the banner range with a trait.

And I can’t see a build without at least having For Great Justice. I think the Tactics line is more focused on Banner/Shouts anyways because of the 30 point traits

Another problem, because stances are so weak shout seems to be the only option people have.

@Dual, that’s why we are suggesting a change to Body Shot, becouse pistol has unload, blind, unload (an on demand, spammable interrupt I’d say too, but whatever), and said shot is never used. P/D when traited for it, has a highly spammable one dimensional rotation that consists on entering stealth constantly, it’s a semi-melee set as well. Adding a blast finisher to P/P wouldnt interfere in the P/D style of play in the slightest, it would even improve it. P/P would now have access to a relatively expensive way to get into stealth, but nowhere near close what P/D can achieve, I donno how this change would stop those that are playing this P/D when P/P with this would be very different.

@ensoriki, that depends, you can’t really say it’s flat out better, even in the current meta. I think it’s evident D/ kitten eeing more play as of late, and maybe even more after this patch, it has a more inititive costly rotation, but you can stack some sweet stealth duration without the risk of failing a C&D, also, a ranged interrupt.

The thing is P/P would have blind, daze, unload, stealth and condition damage and P/D would only have a slightly more budget version of stealth and condition damage.

P/D has blind.

Where? And don’t say Cloaked In Shadow.

They have a trait that blinds nearby foes when they stealth.

This can be more blinds then Black Powder.

Yeah I said don’t mention the trait. A set shouldn’t need traits to match up to a similar set.

If you don’t add traits in the mix then that is rather foolish, alone P/P has no stealth while P/D does.

Yeah and I’m arguing if you give P/P a natural stealth, P/D will be rendered obsolete.

Thief can’t just be all about stealth, every set does not need stealth. We need more then just one playstyle, we can’t all be locked down in 0/0/30/0/0

And what does P/D have without CnD and Sneak Attack? They certainly aren’t going to Shadow Strike, Body Shot or Dancing Dagger someone to death.

P/D still has that. So its fine. It is the “stealth Pistol.”.

However, P/P is the “Mobility + Non-stealth Pistol.”
