I have problems in PVE and PVP. Are we going to get any word from Anet on this? If it has been around for so long I would expect a fix for such a obviously broken skill.

Oh yes, guess dungeons are just not for you, my friend. There is a device on top of your shoulders, which you should be using in these dungeons. A party of players in voice chat, knowing what their characters are capable of, some eyes and reaction – is all what you need here. Cry more. Personally I am glad to know, that dungeon armor is not for all and not easy to obtain.
Although I guess Anet needs to slightly drop prices of dungeon vendors (in exotic tab ofc).

Why should I be forced to only succeed if I know a bunch of great gamers? To me it sounds like the “great” gamers only ever say “get better”. Why are the people who can do this all so very rude? If you are so great, maybe you should post tips instead of posting stupid comments like “cry more”. The internet has ruined all forms of communication… but that is off topic.

Good luck to everyone who keeps trying this. I can’t continue because the money I make, even when I do succeed, is always less than half the amount it takes to repair my armor and the loot is ridiculously bad.

Pinkerton, it doesn’t just stop you on mountains or steep hills. It stops you on flat land 10 feet from your target. I almost ALWAYS land within attack range or very close and just hover there for a second. It is most certainly broken and I won’t give up nor will I stop bumping this thread until it is fixed. It is a very important skill to S/D builds and it can’t be this broken.

I’m a level 71 ele right now. I don’t know what to do… I tried to go to the straits of devastation but I can’t seem to do enough damage or survive AT ALL against the hordes of risen that are aggroed if I sneeze a mile away. I heard it was supposed to be “group” content but I have noticed that other people are far and few between in these upper zones (plus I don’t want to be forced to group with people just to do simple pve quests). I think it might be partly my gear as it is at or around 60ish I think, but I can’t afford anything nor can I craft it. I tried to do WvWvW but I had the problem where A) our server recently experienced a ton of people leaving, thus weakening us and now we always lose, and B ) the armor repair cost was greater than double any rewards I ever earned there. I feel like I’ve hit a wall and have nowhere else to go except slowly grind my way there and that just defeats the purpose of the rest of the game that was fun and fast paced.

And yes, I know I’m not the best player and that is why I have to pay so much but that isn’t something that can magically be fixed by saying “get better loser”. How can I keep up with the content?

I don’t care about people theorycrafting. They should NEVER combat some “OMGTHEORYCRAFT mode” by making it impossible to know what any trait does for the not “OMGTHEORYCRAFT mode” people.

That is a great tip! I personally never use it to run away as it is always on cooldown at that point. I don’t know if you know, but it is also very effective to use right after ride the lightning in mid-combat.

Lvl 70 ele here and I love soloing 5+ mobs. Even when I go down I immediately rise from my incredible torrent of damage. You just have to find what suits you best. This includes weapon sets, style of play, utility skills, elite skill, traits, and even whether or not the elementalist is what you should play here in GW2. GW2 and GW1 are so different that you may find that another class suits you better here.

Incredibly powerful S/D build that will get you killed very easily if you aren’t great at avoiding damage. Probably ONLY good in non-dungeon pve.

We should make sure it is addressed. I main an ele and I main the scepter/dagger and I love the air skills but this is ridiculous. We shouldn’t have to pray that a skill will work as intended just to have fun. I can’t believe this was never looked at as it happens to me about 50% of the time in WvWvW!

I hope Anet sees this, though I’m sure they are already aware. I’m not a theory crafter type and I’m still having problems so there’s no doubt that other casual players are having problems too.

I hardly think any amount of convenience is worth 15g though. I’m sure it will even out or else it just won’t be bought/made…. which will even it out.

How are Dungeons meant to be played?

I really HATED dungeons after I tried AC the first time. It was incredibly hard and we barely made it through. Eventually, though, my friend made it to 30 and we decided to give it a shot with some other random people. Since that time I had gained around 30 levels and progressed in skill quite a lot. The dungeon that time was much easier. The problem there is that I had to be level 60ish to really enjoy the story mode of a level 30 dungeon. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and I still want that, but I also want to be able to do the dungeon at the level it opens up.

Suggestions:
-A lot of people are asking for easy and hard modes. I say make an easy mode that only gives slightly better gear than story, and make hard mode the current explorable mode. Of course story mode stays the same.

-IDK anymore at the moment. I need to go to sleep

OH and don’t forget to make these hard dungeons worth more than 4 blue items…

I believe that PUGs should be able to do these dungeons to some extent as the devs have said that they wanted to avoid “lf healer” waiting lines and that includes finding guilds just to do dungeons.

And seriously… FIX THE REWARD SYSTEM! Right now I just avoid the dungeons as their rewards aren’t even worth more than the money I spend to fix my gear on bad runs!

We could be looking at a “Show advanced traits” option in the near future. Kinda like the way Diablo 3 does it. But yea I learned an ability as a Ranger and it said “Active: your pet does bonus damage on its next attack.” But it also happened to give me a 15% movespeed buff, which is nice but I’d LOVE to know that before hand. Also, it didn’t say that the buff was taken away when the ability is on cooldown…

Actually, it is understood that skills like that (signets) only have an active passive buff when you do not use the active skill. Say you use it to give your pet bonus damage (also a vague description…), if you do that then you stop getting the movement speed buff until it goes off of cooldown.

I play an Ele but I’m sure this is true for all classes. About half of the skills are incredibly vague. Off of the top of my head I can think of a 10 pt water perk that grants extra damage when over 90% health. How much extra damage? In the arcane line there is the dagger trait that give increases to move speed. Does it matter what hand the dagger is in? Does it stack when dual wielding? And the last one off the top of my head is every trait that grants a chance to cause a condition on critical hits. How long does it last?

On a similar note, but maybe not as serious, what does blasting staff do? Is it only for damaging attacks or does it also increase heal radii? This one is probably easily tested but I’m no good at such things so if anyone has an answer I would appreciate it.

As I said, I’m sure eles aren’t the only ones with this problem. I have a friend who has admitted that the warrior has a few too.

Until these get fixed does anyone know of a place where these are actively discussed? Preferably one that started after release due to frequent changes prior to release.

I’m staff, 30/20~ (Fire/Arcane (I was air for the most part so I know a bit about Fire/Air)). At the moment I’m having a tough time with other weapon sets as they require you to be closer (thus dying easier) but the damage doesn’t outweigh the risk (which only gets worse if I take earth or water to lower the risk). I’ll take any advice someone has.

I kind of agree. Right now it seems that Ele sacrifices a lot to get damage that is only barely equal, if not worse, than other damage built characters. My main is an ele and I am having a lot of fun, but sometimes it is discouraging to run into warriors who decimate their mobs while I’m forced to do some intricate dodges and cc for twice as long to kill them. I am built into damage as well. Don’t get me wrong, I love the challenges of switching attunements on the fly and dodging, but the damage just isn’t high enough for the sacrifice of heavier armor and more health.

Agreed. I haven’t had too many problems wondering who’s aoe it is (ele in back lol) but I can almost never find my ground aoe indicator in big fights.

I main Ele, and am lvl 51. I also die very fast… if I’m hit. I play the glass cannon build and I can kill enemies very fast with decent gear and a staff. You just have to practice dodging and utilizing all of your (VAST) skills to keep enemies away from you. With a staff you can slow with water, stun and knockback with air, and cripple (and possibly immobilize… my brain kinda just died so I don’t remember) in earth. If you are still having problems there is no shame in working in a bit of toughness and sacrificing some damage. I run 20 fire, 10 air, and 10 water (for lovely damange buff when at 90+% health) (extras going inito air). This game is so amazing because every class can be played with so many different builds. I have tried out powerful condition builds that have much less burst but a lot of good, prolonged, dps AND a lot of toughness.

I am always wondering, though, do most people do a lot of attunement dancing on normal mobs? Or is this just a discussion of elites and champions? When I fight normal mobs (unless in some situation gone awry or the number of enemies demands it) I just stick to fire. I will, of course, switch a lot during champion or harder fights to lay down combo fields and interrupt attacks when applicable.
