It would be nice but how would they handle cultural armor? I would like this feature but I can’t see any realistic ways to make it happen. I would love to change my Asuran elementalist into a human.
Why would they use their official forums to communicate important information first?
Oh Jeffrey Vaughn, you made me laugh and want to toss you off a cliff all in the same post. lol
The best we can do is play as much as we can before these nerfs hit the fan and hope you have got your moneys worth out of the game before then. I can’t imagine myself playing this game where the strengths of most single target classes (Warrior, primarily who also have plenty of powerful AoE) continue to get stronger while AoE heavy classes just keep getting weaker patch after patch.
New name after patch: Warrior Wars 2
Here’s the thing though, warriors are not over powered in any way, shape, or form. In pve they may perform well but in both spvp and wv3 they are near the bottom of the list in terms of performance.
And just to be clear, hundred blades has many drawbacks attached to it’s use, namely it’s a 4 second self root channel that only hits 3 targets at a time. Which is the target of many peoples complaints. Let’s also not forget that to get those crazy big numbers you have to spec glass cannon which in melee range can get you killed quite quickly, especially when you’re struck in place.
I appreciate your response and since the ele is my main source of info (tied with guardian) I would have to say that the warrior is OP, at least compared to most other classes. Hundred blades drawbacks are all very similar to D/D Churning earth. Churning earth roots you for 3.25 seconds but you see none of that damage until the end. Churning earth also has a 30 second cooldown where as hundred blades has an 8 second cast time… And even when specced full glass cannon I can’t even match the damage of my friends lvl 80 warrior with hundred blades when he is running a mostly support build. AND my survivability is STILL lower than his while he is doing more damage than me. The only positive for churning earth is that you can teleport to the enemies vicinity using lightning flash, but that forces you to use up a utility slot just so you can make your strongest skill practicalish.
And Somoe wins with something that I probably should have been able to find lol.
250,000 kills huh?
24 kills per day, every day, comes out to 434 days to get the title. That does sound more than a little absurd. Especially for the more support-y and controll-y folks who aren’t set up to throw up a blanket of AoE and rake in the kills.
I would have to agree, that title at least seems like it needs some readjustment.
And as a side note to the OP, I’m not a grammar Nazi. I was always terrible at grammar, but some more well placed capital letters would do wonders in making your post both more readable, and more likely to be taken seriously.
I want to make a note and say that you have to kill 24 players per MINUTE for it to take 434 days… in fact I’m convinced you and your math attempted to do something like that as when you figure that out it comes out to 249,984 which is dangerously close to 250k for an odd mix up.
Anyways, just thought I’d add that. 24 kills per minute every minute for 434 days.
I was just curious and since I can’t find anything about it I thought I’d ask here. Is tomorrow’s (Jan 28) patch going to include the FotM update that fixes DC rejoining and makes grouping with players easier?
Also, how is the patch going to make grouping easier? I haven’t really found any information on that either so if someone could fill me in that would be fantastic.

I know these things, my question is how did you collect so much that you made 5g? I’m very efficient with my loot but I don’t come close to that in those levels. Granted, I never sold all of my crafting mats, but I still have a hard time believing that that gets you 5g by lvl 22. Not saying you are lying, just astounded that I didn’t get luckier when I was leveling up.
“hello I would liek a rely rare and presitigous item? but i would not like to work for it I would like anet to give it too me. thanks~!”
-This thread, 2013.
Just don’t respond. You don’t understand the topic. I’m not saying things shouldn’t be prestigious. Why is this one blade (which is an exotic) worth nearly as much as most legendaries? And more importantly, why is its brethren worth so much less? The only difference between them is the type of core/lodestone thing. The other lodestones are easier to farm and easier to acquire so it isn’t that this sword was intended to be rarer (yet still rare, I’m not wanting some common 50g sword or anything), but it is because the ingredients are hidden behind things nobody ever does.
My point: Why is this sword not equal in rarity to the other weapons made in similar fashions? Other weapons of this line are 500g in TP, this one is 2k (but not entirely accurate perhaps, as it is alone in the TP) and even the charged lodestone themselves are 1k off of the TP.
Balao, you either bought gold using gems, have another high lvl character, or got some extremely lucky awesome gear that I don’t know of and sold it. I’m fairly confident that you can’t be lvl 22 on your first character and have 5 gold… did you buy a lot of character spaces and level them all up to lvl 22 while saving every copper? Did you sell your characters soul to grenth for a few gold? What is your secret because I’m dying to know as I’m lvl 80 and 5g still takes a couple of hours of high level farming to get.
They said that the server went down and are looking into it. Like all professional companies though, you have to get your news first from social networking sites like twitter… I mean… come on…. these are the OFFICIAL FORUMS, can we at least get first dibs on juicy info?
These aren’t meant to be the take forever farming items though. Those are legendaries. There is such a large gap between your exotics and a full set of nice vanity items. Why are there no in between ones? Something that isn’t as rare but is still neater and still rarer than default exotic.
Also, I am god.
I was really surprised by the people who responded to this. I made this in haste and in a tad bit of anger after finding this weapon I REALLY wanted and then realized it would take me a year to get of continuous farming. I’m glad that this topic had a lot of respectable responses following my not-so-responsible (or decent) topic starter.
My biggest issue with this is that it is only such a grind and a problem because the methods to get the ingredients are stupidly long and difficult. Most people despise CoE, nobody does the event at Malchor’s Leap, and fractals are random every time, but the other ones are attached to better dungeons (CoF and Molten core) at the very least. It shows in the price of the charged lodestone. It is worth twice as much as any other core or lodestone.
Why is this weapon as costly as a legendary? The name isn’t purple!? I would really like this weapon but how am I supposed to farm charged lodestone when nobody does the Malchor’s Leap event and CoE is a pain in the kitten? I realize there are fractals but I have no idea how getting into the specific fractal works. Is it only after fractal 10? Any and all information on this would be helpful.
This is the most elitist sounding topic I’ve ever read. I’m tired of listening to children discuss the ONLY viable build the ele has and tearing it up because they want to use their cookie cutter strategies against the elementalist. Everyone against the ele tells their story which nearly always involves them playing some glass cannon build (not an ele) and dying slowly. Everyone for the ele actually plays the elementalist and backs their information up with statistics or factual information.
This is laughable… Elementalist has only one playable build and this person wants to nerf it because they aren’t learning their own class right? Seriously? I hate that these are the only posts that seem to be taken seriously be the devs sometimes. Elementalist (along with a few other classes out there… you know who you are) keep getting nerfed when they are already incredibly hard to play well. Those people who play well do so because they are good at it and weren’t spoon fed the entire game with easy classes. Player skill is almost never attributed in cases like these by the accuser.
I hate being disrespectful…
And rezzet, are you saying that eles are comparable to thief because they have more survivability and the smallest fraction of their damage? That’s ludicrous… I’ve never been 1-2 shotted by an ele… ever…
(edited by DaedalusDragon.3754)
I see what you are saying and some of it I will say I “do not disagree” but for whatever reason I find myself playing it and enjoying it. I quit for a long while (right around all of the cool events they did and people got awesome skins for D= ) but then I felt the desire for a game that had this combat, this art style, and this content. I don’t think, nor will I ever think, that this game is the end all be all of video games, but I get a lot of fun out of it.
I suppose what I’m saying is that, sometimes I want everything you listed, and then I go play any one of those games. But when I feel like this game, I play this game. I wish that they had some magical abilities to perfectly implement whatever would keep me playing this game during all of my free time for years (and I’m sure they would too ;D) but at least I still come back and have fun every once in a while.
I do want to add that I appreciate your respect for other players. A lot of these sorts of posts (I’m probably guilty of this as well at some point haha) feel insulting and I happily read yours without that feeling.
I feel like this entire problem boils down to two entirely different problems that have nothing to do with AoE itself.
Loot tagging is an issue and needs to be fixed but not by lowering any AoE to damage thresholds so low they can’t tag enemies. Support and the myriad of other build designs need to be accounted for in loot drops instead of just damage. I am always taken aback when I think about this. How did the game release with this kind of loot tagging system? This game focuses on everyone being able to do damage to some degree but as a group based game (most of the time) it requires support players but they don’t get the proper rewards from pve events.
The other problem is WvW. Something most who agree with this change don’t see is that AoE is the only reason zergs aren’t the absolute ONLY strategy currently. A lot of bad players might complain that they can’t destroy gates fast enough because of the AoEs. This is truly foolish. I don’t consider myself any Sun Tzu, and in fact I’m a terrible strategist and overall war games person, but even I know that a frontal assault will always be defended, when facing off against any intelligent foe, by a funnel. Other strategies for taking down keeps (or w/e) include siege weapons from a distance, luring defenders out via any means, and even a slow method of any one of those mixed with a cut off from supply… in fact that should always be considered. I’m sure there are many other methods that people smarter than I have come up with or are trying too, but as it is these methods are in general inferior to zerging because it is so effective when you have a large group facing a smaller group. AoE is the only defense to these zergs thanks to funnels and I can honestly say that when AoE is weakened to keep this from happening zergs will become even more potent.
If you disagree please say so but those seem to be the only issues in the game where AoE are involved and it is my personal opinion that AoE is not only a non-issue in those regards but in fact a necessary and beneficial tool in WvW to counteract the only prominent strategy right now.
We have two classes and only two that have 1 shot abilities.
We have three classes that can three shot enemies all the while keeping their tremendous defense and vitality in the process.
I can see a glass cannon thief perhaps one shot killing a glass cannon elementalist due to the light armor and being in the lowest health pool. A full exotic/80 glass cannon ele has around 14k health.
A full glass cannon ele can kill another full glass cannon ele if they are setup a certain way, have stacks, and actually hit the other glass cannon with churning earth. (assuming the other ele is too stupid to move out of the area during the 4 second channel or simply count to 3 and hit the dodge button).
Are there other things that can do over 14k to someone in one hit (regardless if it is a 4 second wind up or not like churn), again assuming their target is a glass cannon ele with light armor, base toughness, and 14k health?
I think almost any class can both three shot or be three shotted if they are in full glass cannon gear. There is a huge difference between hitting a cannon ele with 14k health and 1200 toughness compared to hitting a p/v/t ele with 20k health and 1800 toughness for example.
Unfortunately there are far too many people running around in zerker gear to do high damage numbers, that turn around and whine about being 3 shot by someone.
You aren’t seriously comparing a 1.5second 16k series of attacks to an elementalist who has to get tons of stacks of might before the fight, keep them on through the fight, and then hope the enemy sits in his giant 3-4 second cast time earth attack… are you? And have you ever even played the ele? They do not get 14k health with a glass cannon build…
This is a problem in every part of the game. The tool tips are all terrible. The vast majority of skill tool tips don’t give numbers and don’t even describe how something works. I feel like I play Google Wars 2 sometimes.
My argument is that nobody will be travelling around these zones anyway, but if they add mounts they will definitely be removing, or nearly removing, waypoints. With that in place I have to run through zones (with my mount) if a player wants help with a boss… and that takes a while unless they make these mounts move at like 300% movement speed which would be insulting.
Waypoints are a good means of travel and I’d hate to see it fall by the wayside for people who want more things to show off to their friends and random strangers. It would be like the legendaries except they have a huge advantage over people without them. At least the legendaries have identical stats to exotic gear.
Without fail, every post I ever read in favor of mounts only ever talks about how it won’t change anything and instead just be a nice cosmetic for the people who do want them. And unless they really only make them cosmetic with no speed buff, it will be a big change. Just imagine WvW with mounts. It changes the balance of dying and respawning. Look at the big picture. Completing map completion becomes a run through task where nobody does anything more than absolutely necessary. Big picture.
But, whatever, believe whatever you’d like. I’m pretty certain they aren’t adding them as I do remotely remember seeing a dev post that they weren’t adding them… It cheapens the experience and would give more fire for the people who compare this game to WoW to spew at everybody.
Also, this:

He is almost certainly not riding on the horse. Look closely, he is standing to the side of it. Plus, that horse doesn’t look big enough to carry a norn very safely.
I really hope mounts are not added into the game. We don’t need them and they impact the game world a lot more than a lot of people in favor ever seem to realize. They destroy the waypoint dynamic entirely (which I don’t think they want to get rid of only 5ish months after release), it takes quite a few devs and artists away from fixing issues and making new events (cough this one cough), and it destroys any semblance of adventure as everyone will be rushing from point A to point B with no consideration to what will be going on around them.
Wishful thinking isn’t a bad thing… just realize that it most likely isn’t happening ever… thankfully…
Here is a question to the devs, why aren’t you buffing other things instead of weakening AoEs? The elementalist will be hit hard by any and all changes to AoE, even if only a few skills get nerfed. Why is it that you hold thief and warrior so high and continue nerfing every and any aspect of the weaker classes? All you keep saying is that you understand that it shouldn’t be a blanket nerf but based on your previous balance changes, I’m not convinced. Tell us where you are getting these numbers for your point, tell us your specific reason (and zerging isn’t one, that has another fix called “making wvw better”), and tell us what to expect from this in more detail.
This AoE “fix” seems like a cover up for lazy WvW development. The dungeon argument is incredibly stupid as AoE is only used on groups of enemies (not counting eles who have no choice but to use AoE on single targets) where it should be.
The dungeon argument is stupid because they could change the encounter design to cater for aoes rather than nerf the ability.
The thing is, I feel that the dungeons already cater to AoEs. What encounter isn’t filled with tons of enemies all with massive health pools?
I just get the impression that they are looking at the stats from WvW that say most damage is done by AoE and are over-reacting to it. The best way to fix this is to change the objective not the classes. As it is, AoE is the only means to dealing with what they have deemed a fun play tactic (zergs).
I’m sure they’ll carefully balance the aoe in this game. They have to consider the professions that are mostly stuck to AoE, like the elementalist. Maybe a good solution is to give them more single-target attacks? Or maybe AoE will scale down in damage when it hits more than one foe, but keep its full damage if it only hits a single foe? Or maybe – better yet – deal less damage to the second target and on, so that skills like Dragon’s Tooth do not lose their single-target spiking power?
Also, they’ve said they’re also buffing weaker skills/ traits, and no, only buffing without nerfing anything is not a good thing: it leads to a situation called Power Creep, where every character becomes broken. You must have a healthy balance between buffs and nerfs.
Weakening the ele in any way is a massive nerf in general. The ele is meant to AoE and if they weaken AoEs based on number of enemies it hits then they might as well make them single target because I’m going to be very upset when my damage is even more pathetic because a huge horde of enemies attacked me. Imagine being even weaker soloing in Orr?! If they want to weaken ANY ele attacks then they might as well get rid of the ele because we lose a lot from any change to AoE.
This AoE “fix” seems like a cover up for lazy WvW development. The dungeon argument is incredibly stupid as AoE is only used on groups of enemies (not counting eles who have no choice but to use AoE on single targets) where it should be. And now, because they don’t want to put in the effort to fix/get rid of zerging (the right way) they are going to nerf a massive aspect of the game and reduce everything into warriors which is already a big problem.
Anet, if you hated all of the classes you promised us you could have made a statement telling us that you had decided that you wanted to reduce the number of classes to one. The Warrior. You could have even rid yourself of pve because you obviously care more about the balance in one tiny aspect, WvW.
You guys REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY need to rethink your not separating the skills between modes because you are only making it so much harder on yourself and ruining the game for us. Did it not work on GW1? You know, that game that people liked.
I’m sad that I’ve played for over 300 hours and I still don’t have a single title…
Please no enrage timers. This is one of the lamest ways to enforce “difficulty” imaginable.
I also don’t see why other people care so much if some PUGs use zombie tactics to tackle content or not. Presumably you don’t do it, or need to. Why does it matter that other people do or not?
No, it’s a good thing. It’s far too “easy” to just gear up in full soldier set and tickle a boss to death currently in the safest way possible. How can you make a boss dangerous to an army of P/V/T protection+heal spammling guardian and warriors? By giving the boss (and silver mobs) attacks that can actually dent their huge armor. And the result is that anyone not geared in P/V/T just gets OS by anything that moves in dungeons? No fun at all.
And then people start complaining that bosses have huge HP pools. No kidding! Maybe if they geared for damage a little more and learned to dodge the attacks instead.
I say, yes for enrage timers. Their presence will push the players to actually improve their play style and make the fights shorter at the same time.
I say no to people who don’t see the whole picture. A rage timer only makes people DPS more. This game is supposed to be more than attacking relentlessly until it is dead or you run out of time. It is supposed to be about tactics (including ones that are more survivable than damaging) and not dodging and attacking. If that is the case then they could make dungeons single player experiences, lower the health pool, and lower the boss damage. Why have teams if the fights are boiled down to rush dps so that it dies before we have to change tactics for survival?
Maybe it’s because, and this is just my guess, nobody wants to read through lots of text which starts with complaining and their relationship to other games. Specifically when it goes on and on trying to compare this game to others. This game is not other games.
I would rather see them polish the mechanics, classes, and skills they already have before adding more, changing (drastically) the ones we have, or completely re-configuring the current system.
I believe it would be incredibly beneficial to add this into the game. It can’t hurt the game or its players and I believe it would have a lot of positive uses to make the lives of guild leaders everywhere much easier.
Fantastic. I haven’t tried it yet but that is some amazing work.
I don’t think of it as 80 levels. It takes as long to get to 80 as it does to get to 30 in many many other MMOs.
I’m really interested to hear how some of you are capable of leveling two of the same profession all of the way up since you can respec. I’ve been really feeling the urge to play low level ele again (my main, 80) but it would feel like I wasted all of that time with my previous ele.
Lol I see this going HORRIBLY wrong. “The new dungeons aren’t as good as we wanted! WE PAID FOR THEM SO YOU BETTER FIX THEM NOW!”
Agree with OP contention is just stupid , to make people do dynamic events? I don’t Wanado them I’m there to do a dungeon not an event if I wanted to do an event I would do an event. Duh. It makes minority servers suffer without the likes of gw2lfg which isn’t anet design.
I am all for removing this. You’ve done an event once you’ve done it a thousand times, now just let me do the dungeon.
Contested dungeons should most definitely be on a much longer cooldown, something more akin to world invaders perhaps.
However, your argument that “minority servers suffer without the likes of gw2lfg which isn’t anet design” is silly. Minority servers have just as much access to gw2lfg as any other server, so by not using it all you are doing is shooting your own foot.
If your argument is that you don’t want to use it because ANet did not design it then you are being equally silly. Just because a game company did not design a third party application does not mean they do not rely on it.
Bear with me through this reference, I normally hate the following company but in this particular example they are perfect for proving my point.
A perfect example is the ever popular WoW addon Deadly Boss Mod (DBM). DBM was an addon developed by a third party programmer, and yet its huge popularity actually allowed Blizzard to design raid encounters with the assumption that players would be using DBM.This allowed Blizzard to create far more intricate and complex raid encounters than was previously possible (of course they later started catering to kids and as a result raid encounters became ever more simplified but that’s beside the point). And all because of a third party program that was not Blizzard’s original design.
My point here is that just because something is not designed by a game company does not mean it is not useful and should not be used. ANet has even explicitly stated that players should be using GW2LFG.
Now if your argument is that this is laziness on ANet’s part and that they should design their own LFG system then I ask you to think about that for a moment. GW2LFG works perfectly right now, so why should ANet waste time on developing their own version of something that already exists when they could be working to fix/balance other mechanics and/or add new content?
Finding dungeons via GW2LFG is completely fine and should be used by anyone looking for dungeon PUGs.
But this is a tangent, so:
TL;DR
The fact of the matter is (as has been stated above) that the ability to group with different servers for dungeons (which is a great feature by itself) in conjunction with stupidly frequent contested dungeons has created an annoying and useless situation. Contested CoF does not stop players from consecutive speed runs, but it does discourage players from doing their dailies.
I think what they were trying to say was that if someone hadn’t come along and developed that it would be even bigger of a problem for the minority servers. Anet designed this huge problem for minority servers and somebody else had to come along and fix it for them. I could be wrong but that is what I got out of this.
I also disagree with what you said. Blizzard allows the use of these applications inside the game. Anet does not. If they wan’t to force me to go outside of their game to play it properly then they are wrong. Plus these events are long, monotonous, and usually difficult to do with less than an entire party. It makes dungeons even less appealing that it does when it just had really terrible loot.
I think we all have something in mind ratman, there have been so much.
I can even go for opposite examples.
Wintersday Mystery Boxes were in the patch notes as a rare drop.
They didn’t drop, and it wasn’t fixed even though the event was 2 weeks. So why was it ever in the patch notes? The patch notes at the current state is just not doing their job.
I love this because it shows NO QA before hand…
My constructive criticism: Check your stuff before you implement
More constructive criticism: Tell us EVERYTHING you change about the game.
I don’t mind you leaving out the details related to DR just because I know it would make it easier for the botters. On the other hand, when you do change something like that we really do need some general idea of how that is going to impact us, the people who play fairly. So much of this negativity on these forums is drawn from the lack of communication overall and this is one example of that. Talk to us Anet. I realize it isn’t as easy as my message here but it is more important than I think anybody in Anet realizes right now. It is one of the easiest ways to fix the distrust and it will probably have an immense impact on player morale.
Both of them are in it also!!!! I didn’t know!!!! I wanted to see it and now I MUST!
This thread has made me lose all hope for humanity? How could you not recognize the song? And Anne Hathaway’s voice? She gave a brilliant performance and you have no idea who she played.
-sigh-
OP, maybe you should have just posted a picture of cat with the caption “U no can haz lewtz”
That’s not a hit at me is it? I love Anne Hathaway’s rendition of that song. I have yet to see the movie (I really want to see it) but I have a link to the youtube video of her singing that song bookmarked. I wasn’t mocking her.
I sang that entire thing in my head, with Anne Hathaway’s voice lol.
I feel that this might be the best way to get criticisms across. They have relevant information and can be helpful but those that disagree won’t start a flame war because they just can’t get over how awesome it is or how much they love the music.
Also, Rustypipes. I can’t tell if you are joking or not but there is more significant meaning to dreaming a dream. The more you know =)
Some info:
I did CoF path 1… I believe… and the boss with all of the crystals to regenerate its health seemed impossible. We spent the first 5 minutes running around destroying the crystals while one man pummeled the boss. I’m not saying that we were doing it right or anything but that seemed like the tactic that we were lead to do but the crystals popped up incredibly fast and the boss never lost health. In the end we all just focused the boss down for 15 minutes and it finally died. Maybe we were missing something but if that is the case then there needs to be some way of letting us know that. Otherwise that boss was ridiculous and overly simplistic and also misleading. Just my two cents. I don’t have much experience so I’ll leave this as a note to the developers and a discussion topic (possibly on my stupidity) for the community.
It makes tons of sense Vorch. The very reason this topic exists is proof that it makes sense… People pay Anet tons of money in gems to get these items. Legendaries aren’t made up of only gold purchased items though so they can’t make as much money from gem sales if they are making it themselves because a lot more of the legendary is karma or loot.
I refer to the months with no information. The drop rate discussion. After the patch on November 15th nothing was heard regarding this massive topic until approximately December 22nd. An entire month gone by and hundreds of posts giving incredible data and information and nobody could even figure out if they meant for this to happen or not because there was not a single post regarding this problem from the devs. Besides that there are many examples where the devs went from discussing their ideas and plans (pre-release) to maybe getting something about a change a week after it was implemented.
Anyways, that is what I call “radio silence.”
Edit: Your post is nice. But I still find it lacking compared to how they used to be. What happened to the (I’m having a huge problem coming up with the term I want to put here so I’ll describe it as see through development. When they used to keep us informed constantly and wanted us to know what was going on behind the scenes)?

Money is what makes this world turn and don’t think for a second that anything trumps it. Think of it like this, I’ve already given them my money and I wouldn’t ask for a refund for anything because this game has been worth it many times over. The problem isn’t with the game, but with the company. They are playing with the people who will buy any future items that they create or the gems they have now. Will I ever buy a game from them immediately? That answer is highly dependent on how they, as a company, treat their customers. Not every complaint has been a mature one (I’m no exception) but they are all valid. You can claim that it is a two way street but I guarantee that once you have disrespected your clients because they aren’t nice to you then you will lose their business and if you keep that up you will lose all business. It’s their future in their hands. My respect is earned. I don’t give it away to anybody that I give my money to. I had respect for them from GW1 but that has changed.
You may not like the negativity of the nature of a complaint but they are ten times more useful than anybody saying “love you Anet, keep up the good work”. And this part will sound childish, but, the reason a lot of people have been so negative and not shown respect is because they haven’t been shown any either. Someone has to step up first and I highly doubt it’s going to be the community lol.
I made the first step. I bought their game. Now I want to be shown respect and I’ll show them equal, or greater, respect. I’m easy. I’m not a tough customer. All that I ask is admittance of mistakes and their plan to rectify them. And here’s to hoping that is what will happen in a week.
(edited by DaedalusDragon.3754)
I feel that this is a non-issue. Either stop playing due to this or get used to it. If I ever noticed it being “different” it must have taken me a minute to get used to it because it was never noticed. I feel that it makes more sense this way. Why would my character stand in place spinning in circles all of the time? Do it in real life and tell me that it doesn’t look stupid lol.
Yeah, the manifesto is sort of a joke and can’t be used as proof/evidence.
I find that endgame starts the moment that your character has finished evolving by natural means. By this I mean once you hit the level cap. By this time you have all the skills that you want (and probably most of the ones you could ever want) and have just got your last trait point. There could be arguments made saying that this isn’t done until you have found your favorite build but that isn’t really a game element but more of a personal element.
Another thought is that the endgame begins when you begin to min/max everything to be the best. I never consider leveling up a min/max thing but instead as progression. I do, on the other hand, consider gear grinds as min/maxing.
This is just what I feel is endgame. And, btw, I have not read the majority of these posts so I apologize if this has already been flamed or some such lol.
Note: I think the concept of hating a carrot is imbecilic. Carrots are EVERYWHERE! If you hate gear grinds, say so, but don’t blame the carrot. You want to play because you have fun hanging out with your friends? Awesome! But that too, is a carrot. Why do you think they added chat functions and social options? Now, I realize this is just going to upset people who are closed minded, please realize that carrots are in real life too. Want a better job? That is a carrot. More money? Carrot. These are only different in that I have no control over what I need (real need, food, water and the like) nor do I have someone to complain to about them (excepting religions which is another can of worms). Hating the carrot seems awfully “hipster” to me. People play those games for a reason. Carrots are a great reason and to hate those just pins you as somebody who likes to go against the grain for just the sake of it.
The only difference between someone who likes a gear grind and somebody who is hating on the carrot is their preference of carrot.

So glad to come back to see that people are still making the “ele should be for the elite players only” argument. The high cost/low reward ratio still seems way off and why is the ele the “strong class but do[es] not belong to the lazy”? Jeez, these posts are why I quit (besides the abhorring service that is Anet and the mediocre game that they pass off as being fantastic while they break more parts of the game (looking at you DR and the BAD loot system I learned about from a large topic earlier today) than they fix…)… This game is broken and going down fast. This game is the Titanic and Anet is the iceberg.
I agree with the first post you made lol. I’m not a big fan of nearly any class changes. ESPECIALLY a self sacrificing guardian skill…..
It’s really too bad. A lot of people just stopped caring. I really enjoyed this game for a few weeks but then I realized that they were just going to keep nerfing a class that was already weaker than the others. Some people still don’t get that no class should be any less accessible than another. The very idea that you have to play many hours after level 80 just to compete with fresh level 80s from other classes just goes to show you how weak this class is. Oh well though. I gave up a few weeks ago. This game had a lot of potential but thanks to a few issues, it ended up catering to a select few instead of the majority.
Inflation typically affects the market as a whole – which means prices for other things will rise, and you will have the opportunity to make larger amounts of money (and therefore afford prices that currently seem astronomical).
You know that that isn’t how a “free” market works, right?
It isn’t “people who rushed to 80”, but instead “people who didn’t sit and stare at trees for hours”. If you aren’t level 80 by now then there can be a lot of reasons but you don’t have to rush to get to level 80… I made it there about 2-3 weeks ago and I only played it a bit more than average (an assumed average). It is really easy to make it to level 80 in this game in a pretty fast manner. That being said, I can’t see Anet limiting holiday content. To the best of my knowledge, they have never done that before.
