I think this changes will have a great impact on thieves’ gameplay. Particularly speaking about the ini regen rate. It will be a big overall buff to our dps.
Sword #2 will have to be used with a grain of salt instead of mindless spammed, not a big issue.
Pistol Whip will probably have a place again.
What i think is missing here is a real group support:
Mesmer’s veil affects a limitless amount of targets and Mass Invisibility affects 10 players while thief’s stealth affects only 5 players.
What does a thief do for a group ?
Venoms are bad designed as there is few to no control on them.
We cannot follow a melee train since we are too squishy.
We do not have anything to remove allies’ conditions or foes’ boons.

Why anyone should pick up a thief instead of a necro/guardian/warrior/mesmer/ele?
No, the cooldown on Opportunist will not be balanced by the % increase.
S/P and P/P thieves could proc opportunist once every second using their dual skills. Dagger auto attacks can proc it every 2 seconds assuming 50% crit, or every 1.5 seconds using a standard backstab rotation in pve with proper gear and fury.
With this change, pretty much every crit based spec will be taking an initiative regen nerf in PvE. In PvP it wont be as bad, because we don’t have 100% uptime on our targets.
Either way, to say these changes are a ‘massive deal’ in a positive way is just incredibly wrong.
Seriously? Did you really just say that? How can we take you Devs seriously when you make statements like that? Do you realize how much of a nerf increasing the ICD on Opportunist will be?
P/D got an initiative gain with this, and probably S/D as well, but D/D is more or less no gain/no loss, and S/P is losing a lot of initiative gain now. D/P will also probably take a hit to initiative gain.
0.75/s to 1/s is indeed a great buff and the ICD on Opportunist should be balanced by the 50% chance (hard to say now)
I think i’ll stay d/p since i don’t constantly spam 2 into the field but i use it just to gain stealth for a BS and that’ll remain untouched.
infiltrator strike in the middle of the action + black powder for aoe blind on opponents melee + shadow return if you are taking too much dmg and 1 1 1 , when you are low on health switch to sb and keep dps + poison.

1. Make keeps/towers/camps strategical. Let them give a specific buff (+x all stats, +1 AoE cap and such) and worth no point towards the total score
2. Points are earned only by killing players and are calculated on the number of fighters – with DR (a small group defeating a big group will give more points than a big group defeating a small one).
Nightcapping will become useless since score will not change and mindless zerg will be punished and roaming organized guilds will be rewarded and become more useful.
A server with less but stronger players will win against a server full of bad players.

right on, and to counter instagib build is bunker build of ele and wars and guardians.
indeed the build worked. he survived the initial burst. the problem is he did not use his skills and took auto attack + another cloak and dagger and i bet another backstab if that wasn’t enough.

Stealth is fine.
If you use a skill that stealths you while in stealth you’ll stack stealth time (example: hide in shadows + blinding powder + shadow refuge).
If you use a skill that hits+grants stealth ( cloak and dagger – HS in a smoke field) while in stealth, you’ll get revealed.
If another thief stealths you you’ll properly stack stealth duration, but if you run out from someone else’s shadow refuge, you’ll get revealed.
I once noticed revealed while in stealth … maybe a lagged sick’em that affected me after i entered stealth, but it happened just once.

How is it PvE content? Nothing in the achievements requires stuff outside of WvW maps. If you’re talking about achievement hunters (like I am), they’ll be wherever the next set of temporary achievements are, so you’ll have to get use to them. And they have just as much right to be in WvW as you do, even if they are new to it or not.
I’m talking about a biweekly living story update.
I have nothing against achievement hunters, it’s not their fault if they get amusement that way, even if I think it’s a poor way to get satisfaction.
I blame ANet for not having servers big enough for everyone.
How come Warhammer in its late state did not lagg in 200+ battles? It also had better combatlogs, more skills, more cooldowns, higher aoe caps and is from 2008.
I have no idea how you can compare Gw2 combat to Warhammer and think they can be put into the same basket like that.
In gw2 if you shoot a projectile directed at a target and another enemy just happens to get in between that one and not your original target will get hit.
The combat system here makes it so your hits land on enemies that projectiles/slashes come across in real time like it would really make sense for it to work.
Tab target combat where your hits hit only the one person you are aiming at (projectiles will go through other opponents and ingore them) and so forth is much more demanding that the simplistic bad combat of Warhammer(it’s combat was a wow clone, yet a thousand times less responce simple and required much less ability to play your class, warhammer combat was probably the worst i have seen in an MMO)
You cannot compare the most simple combat in an MMO to date to a MMO that has a very complex way of handling it.
You just cant.
But ofcourse there are things ANet can do to improve the current problem vastly, and they will do what they can(why wouldnt they XD)

there are ppl who partecipated to wvw on their server since launch and now they cannot play it because of queue and lag.
Devon’s post doesn’t reflect what’s happening ingame, and frankly it says nothing but the fact that ANet can’t deal with numbers and blames its users for their choices.
They ask us to report bugs; they ask us to help them with suggestions; they warn us to not be rude with them but they don’t answer us when we ask and they don’t communicate with us.
According to me they are enstablishing a univocal relationship.

game is on a countdown at the moment with this much lag a bit of lag is one thing but this much lag is a broken game, I give it a month before mass quitting.
1 month is too much, I think.
the problem is that dedicated wvw players will quit, one by one.
Slowly population will go down and the lag with it….
… but wvw players will be elsewhere

laela, you are good, nothing to say, but for at least the first 3 minutes of the video there were only ppl running and zergs ignoring you. they don’t even try to stop you.

there are tons of mmos out there with your so called “epic battles” and no lag.
back in 2002 in daoc we could inc a relic keep with 150/200 ppl fighting in the same zone and with no skill lag. (there were fps problems but skills worked)

It’s the downside of a big dmg out of stealth… like 100blades.

That post ain’t true at all. Maybe you should look better. I’m roaming everyday with some guys in every BL.

I spoke of what i saw yesterday in deso BL.
There were also a lot of EXG running in the blob. I think your guild must be really big to have such a variety of players.
Some of you seems to look for fair/competitive fights, accepting GvG, and, according to you, roaming in small group. On the other hand there are gankers, blobbers and dishonorable players.
Too bad they tarnish your tag.
guardians provide stability, protection/regeneration, while converting 1 condition to boon + a remove all condition + powerful defensive spells with the tome.
A guardian is more defensive even if a warrior can help him healing and removing conditions

Only thing I agree on is that warriors mobility should get nerfed slightly. Like a range reduction on the skills. Bringing Rush to 900 would be a nice start.
They need the same treatment as Ele got with Ride The Lightening, if you dont hit someone with it then it gets a VERY high cool down.
First you have to fix rush because in the current state it almost never actually hits a moving target. Its bugged as hell.

seriously, it’s the same skill as RTL, why such a different treatment ?
They must change the anti stealth mechanic.
Giving abilities to apply “revealed” isn’t the right way to counter it.
They must introduce a new buff “visible”: the thief is still stealthed but he is visible.
No invisibility but the thief can use his skills/traits.
