Yea, I gotta agree with this. It’s pretty disheartening to feel like you have to log on every day, just as it is to feel like you’ve run out of things to do because you have to wait on a time gate.
Honestly, I really just wish they would add some good quality permanent dungeons.
+1 here from another weekend warrior.
The mechanics of solo Q are pretty great. The community, however, is terrible.
GW2, by in large, has a much friendlier player-base than most MMOs. However, if you were ever wondering where the jerks were hiding, spend a few games in solo Q.
Hey Sphonz,
You may want to check out Remnants of Hope as I think we may be a good fit for what you’re looking for. You can find a full description of our guild on our recruitment post here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/TC-Remnants-of-Hope-PvX-WvW-RP-2/
However, to specifically address some of the points you mentioned, we regularly join together for events such as dungeons, guild missions, and PvP/WvW and do so both as scheduled events (see more on our calendar: http://remnantsofhope.com/boards/index.php?/calendar/3-gw2/08-2013) and as unscheduled, spontaneous events.
If this sounds like the home you’re looking for, you can apply here:
http://remnantsofhope.com/boards/index.php?/topic/8550-how-to-join-remnants-of-hope/
Hey Reyno,
From what you describe, you may want to check out Remnants of Hope. We’re a community-focused PvX guild, meaning that we participate in all aspects of the game (including RP) and are focused primarily in maintaining a group of good, friendly people that promote an overall positive environment.
We welcome players of all levels and experience backgrounds with GW2, so you will find that we often run together to do content that even very low level players can participate in. In addition to this, we also have very active forums that serve both to keep everyone in close contact as well as to share helpful resources and tips that are often very helpful for new players.
For more details, I would recommend checking out our recruitment thread here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/TC-Remnants-of-Hope-PvX-WvW-RP-2/
And if you want to get a feel for type of content we generally run, check out our calendar here:
http://remnantsofhope.com/boards/index.php?/calendar/3-gw2/08-2013
We join together for both scheduled and unscheduled events just about every day of the week, so there’s always something going on. Also, everyone is welcome to post new events, so even new members can put up an event for something they want to join with guild mates to do.
If this looks like the home you’re looking for, stop by and apply!
http://remnantsofhope.com/boards/index.php?/topic/8550-how-to-join-remnants-of-hope/
Either way, good luck on your search!
Hey Athryl,
You might want to check out Remnants of Hope [HOPE] as we’re an active social guild that participate in all areas of the game. For the full description of our guild, check out our recruitment post here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/TC-Remnants-of-Hope-PvX-WvW-RP-2/
You can also go directly to our forums and check them out here:
http://remnantsofhope.com/boards/
However, part of why I wanted to recommend RoH was because we have members of all different levels and experience backgrounds. We schedule events on a regular basis that often include leveling parties, which you may enjoy. When you’re ready for dungeons, you’ll find plenty of other members who would be happy to join you and are patient and helpful along the way.
Check us out when you get a chance and if you have any questions, feel free to give me a shout!
- Dahkeus
Personally, I’ve missed out on so much temporary content that I’ve given up on keeping up with it anymore. I don’t think I’ve done hardly any of the new Queen stuff lately.
Hey Lukesky,
I think you should check out Remnants of Hope as I believe we fit what you’re looking for. For a description of the guild, you can check out our recruitment post here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/TC-Remnants-of-Hope-PvX-WvW-RP-2/
or can go directly to check out our forums here:
http://remnantsofhope.com/boards/
However, here are some of the specific points that I think apply to what you outlined:
– Our guild is very community oriented and maintaining a friendly atmosphere where there’s always someone to interact with is a primary goal for us. Our forums, in particular, are a great boon to this as we have tons of active discussion both with our GW2 members, as well as members who play other games.
- We also host both in-game RP events as well as forum RP that caters to players of various RP styles.
- Our member base consists of members from all levels of gameplay, from people who have just recently joined GW2 to experienced veterans and we are always happy to help out. Not only are members happy to explain fights and welcome players to join them in new dungeons, but we also have lots of resources on our forums to assist including a mentor program for players interested in getting familiar with PvP!
- Our prime, most active times for members tends to be in the evenings. You can get a feel for this by looking at our scheduled events on our calendar (here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/external?l=http%3A%2F%2Fremnantsofhope.com%2Fboards%2Findex.php%3F%2Fcalendar%2F3-gw2%2F08-2013), but we have members on much later who often join for more spontaneous events as well.
If you have questions or if you want to know more, feel free to give me a shout!
Hey Princess,
I think you may want to check out Remnants of Hope. We are an active community-focused guild that I think will match what you are looking for. For a description of the guild, you can check out our recruitment post here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/TC-Remnants-of-Hope-PvX-WvW-RP-2/
or can go directly to check out our forums here:
http://remnantsofhope.com/boards/
However, here are a couple points about us that I think match what you are looking for:
– We have a very active and social community and maintain this by scheduling events on our calendar (seen here: http://remnantsofhope.com/boards/index.php?/calendar/3-gw2/08-2013) as well as joining together for spontaneous events in game.
- We join together to do everything from low level leveling parties to high level dungeons/fractals to PvP to RP. Because of this, there is always something to do for all players, regardless of what level they are or what aspect of the game they prefer.
- We also have a very active forum with friendly members from GW2 as well as other games many of our guild members play. This means that there is always active topics on many different subjects.
If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. Thanks for taking the time to consider us! =)
Attached is my forum sig that has my char. My gear is as follows:
Head: Starter hood
Shoulders: Vigil
Chest: Human Cultural T3
Gloves: Vigil
Leggings: Human Cultural T3
Boots: Human Cultural T3
Dye colors: Graphite and Midnight Blue
edit The sig was made for a black background, so it may not look as good on the white forums here. =P

As a thief in PvE, I agree.
As a thief in PvP, I agree, but not as much.
Spirit ranger is a good one. Something like this is a good place to start:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQRAnf8YjEVV1dVmVg2Bi2jMZeM9KEL3jSRqTVxH3A-TgAg2CrIaS1krJTTymsNB
Recast spirits and spam weapon abilities to lay down conditions (just be close when you use splitblade to stack up a lot of bleeds). If you get targetted, switch to the sword/dagger to use the evades.
I wouldn’t recommend thief though. You can get good burst against the occasional squishy if they’re relatively new to PvP, but to really play it well, you have to know the class pretty well and they’re very squishy themselves, which makes for an unforgiving learning curve.
The mechanics in general with GW2 are often really unfriendly towards playing with one or a few close friends. Since my play primarily with my spouse, this is particularly problematic (especially in PvP). =(
Consider something like this instead:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYQQNAoYVlUmCO3eS5E/5Ex2jdKUe6fgs6MwZLB-jAyAYLBR6DEVIgJvioxW4KiGruGT5SEVbwLiWtUARMGA-e
Acro is dropped losing Feline Grace, but instead you have Sig of Agi that gives you extra dodges when you need them. This also gives you more condi removal. Sig of Agi is simply amazing for PvE and I highly recommend.
I added Shadow’s Refuge since it gives you two free stealths in boss battles if you use it right (SR → backstab → auto chain once then stop attacking → get second stealth from SR → backstab) and also gives a lot of utility for rezes, but you can replace for Assassin’s Sig if you prefer.
I put in Hide in Shadows as the heal, although I tend to use Withdraw, largely out of personal preference. Sig of Malice is ok if you really want to keep it though.
Yea, I took a break from my thief and picked up my ranger again for a bit of PvP. I played a spirit ranger and it got boring pretty quickly, although it was very effective.
Killed Liadri here. Here’s how:
I changed my spec to 25/30/0/15/0 (previously was running with 25/30/0/0/15). This was just to give me some extra dodges. If you’re really skilled, you can probably do without this. I also used one of the Orrian Meat Stew foods for the endurance regen and might on dodge.
I equipped D/D mainhand and P/P. The dagger set was only used to hit the orbs in phase 1.
Utility skills were: Sig of Agility, Assassin’s Signet, and Signet of Shadow (this offsets the cripple a bit on p2)
Gear is mostly zerker, but I have some valk pieces. Pure berserker probably works fine since most stuff 1-shots you anyways.
It doesn’t really matter what your spec is for phase 1, but having Feline’s Grace helps your mobility.
For phase 2, I just kited and spammed Unload from my pistol set. I think I used Daggerstorm at one point too.
That’s pretty much it. I’m pretty sure you can do this in just about any spec, but having a strong ranged weapon and abilities really helps phase 2.
If you go down, attack one of the orbs that pull you since you can rally off them.
(edited by Dahkeus.8243)
Spammable blast finishers are great, particularly when you’re working on taking down a door since you can spam it at the door to heal and cleanse melee.
Cluster Bomb is also a good tool for hitting enemies who are on the ledges of walls since you can shoot it at the top lip of a wall (without exploding it) and the AoE damage will hit enemy players that are out of line of sight.
Hey Quincious,
You might want to check out Remnants of Hope as I think we may be a good fit. For a full description of our guild, you can see our recruitment thread here. You can also go directly to our forums by clicking here.
However, here are some points that apply specifically to you:
- We have members of all levels and frequently hold events with our lower level members such as Leveling Parties, Fractals Dungeons, sPvP, WvW, and more! To see what we have planned ahead, you can check out our Event Calendar.
- Our guild also has a solid PvP community, but RP is never required and not all of our members are RPers. This means that you can join in and focus on learning the game for now, then when you feel like getting into RP, you can always join in.
- We also host RP both in game and on our forums. If you’re not ready for RP in game, but want to be able to RP a bit outside of your game time, this is always an option.
- In addition to having a friendly, outgoing community that is always happy to help you learn the game, we also have tons of guides and resources on our forums to help out new players.
Anyways, if you have any questions, feel free to let me know. We have a great community in RoH, but we’re always open to new members who are looking to find a home as well.
S/P and stun them first/more often. They can’t stun you if they’re stunned. 10/30/0/0/30 with Sleight of Hand.
That’s one way to do it at least.
Queen Jennah and mesmers in general have so much style based off long, flowing, silky clothing, so I think that the message of “strong femininity” could have been done much better of they had the watchbots dressed up in some similar fashion.
Why must topics like this happen? Is this what our society has been reduced to? The constant struggle not for equality, but for demands being placed on art. We all have our values, but no one cause should define your life. If your really passionate about your morality then there are so many real life causes you can get involved in.
Perhaps the whole “it’s a video game or it’s art” arguments are overdone, yet they are the most constant and logical ones to make. Even if female body image was on the creators’ brain, does not you noticing it make it on yours as well? That is perspective. Step outside of yourselves from time to time.
Art without criticism isn’t art.
Criticize art about its content and meanings not just " I see metal chests ". That’s all I ask. Some maturity and not just juvenile critiques.
The content and meaning is exactly what’s being debated….
What a double standard put on the female image. What about guys like Superman? Tall, dark, in perfect shape and fearlessly brave. How does that effect my male body image? No, I’m told I have to be that guy.
Yet somehow when the same thing is applied to the female form, this is up for mature debate. It’s just not logical.
Because the implications behind a male’s sexual image and a female’s sexual image are treated very different in society.
Because men don’t have a history of being oppressed because they were seen as little more than maids and sexual objects.
Because men don’t get sexually harassed or kitten d anywhere close to as often as it happens with women.
Bad stuff happens to men too, but this tends to be despite the cultural beliefs and social standards we have, not because of them.
@ Kalathra: This is where the cultural context comes in. Yes, calling something “sexualized” is subjective in that there are no measures for sexual vs nonsexual in the sense that we can’t measure it with a ruler or a scale. However, there are measures of this that are commonly accepted, such as movie ratings. If you put a topless woman in a movie, even if she’s just walking across the street, the movie automatically gets an adult rating. If you don’t show the nipples while this same scene occurs, you can show it to a much younger audience. Because of that, we are all trained, to some degree, to see the revealing of this body part as something tied to a much more adult and erotic situation, hence why “sexualization” comes into play.
I should pause here and say, that if humanity were in a different place, there would be absolutely nothing problematic with putting watchbots like this into GW2. The problem is inherently culture itself.
So, why then, am I criticizing the watchbots? This is because as much as we all like to think that we are immune to the subtle inferences that media and culture make about certain things, we are still human beings and the way we see our world is shaped by them. Even if everyone here in this thread is perfectly able to overcome these inferences and to see these NPCs only as what they are and what they were intended to be, we don’t live in a vacuum.
There will be people who see these NPCs and understand the message that was intended (you can have feminine qualities and kick butt) and there will be people who see them and think “Ooooh, fem bots! I totally want to do one of those!”
I’m not arguing that we need to live on some sterilized society where nothing that can be misinterpreted or taken the wrong way, but as self-critical intelligent people, we need to be aware of the effects that occur when we set up situations that encourage such thinking, even if we don’t intend it to happen.
Why must topics like this happen? Is this what our society has been reduced to? The constant struggle not for equality, but for demands being placed on art. The misconception that a lot of people seem to be making here is that it’s not inherently problematic to show women as having sexual or aesthetically pleasing qualities. However, it becomes problematic when it is done in a way, so as to objectify and diminish the other qualities of that person.
For anyone that is truly interested in learning more about this topic and isn’t here to simply defend their world view with straw man arguments, ad hominem, cherry picking, etc., you may be interested in the following link: http://www.feministfrequency.com/tag/tropes-vs-women-in-video-games/
What a nice roundabout what of calling everyone who disagrees with you ignorant, without acknowledging their arguments. I’m not saying you’re being passive aggressive, but it definitely could be construed that way.
How have these robotic beings been objectified or diminished? They are capable fighters, are they not? are they not respected in their defined construction?
I studied politics, and feminism was a topic that was covered in great depths, and funnily enough a woman’s choice of footwear never came up. Nor a robots, for that matter.
Personally I think the problem here is a lot of people equate sexuality with sexism. Joss Whedon would like a word with you.
Wisdom comes from acknowledging ignorance, so I’m sure anyone who doesn’t want to admit that will probably take that the wrong way. If so, they weren’t the intended audience of that statement.
As for your last statement, that is exactly in line with what I said. I don’t have a problem with the fact that these NPCs have such qualities, but rather that unlike characters in a Joss Whedon film, these characters don’t have anything else to them (aside from being able to fight). They are essentially objectified.
This is why I don’t see Norn females as inherently problematic, even though the have a highly sexualized aspect to them. They are acknowledged as thinking, feeling people with valid opinions and perspectives.
They are objectified in the sense that they are objects, yes. They don’t have feelings or emotions, because they are robots. Not because they are female robots; they would be as unthinking and unfeeling no matter what they wore, or what shape they took.
They are an extension of Jennah herself, the army she wanted to guard her people. To her, they reflect the best of her people, and of herself, like the statues of ancient Greece or Rome.
The fact that she decided to model them on a female form is testament to her position as a strong female leader. She’s showing that you don’t have to be male, or bulky, or coated in armor to have power. She’s an example of this herself, as she’s none of those things and still one of the most powerful people on the face of Tyria.
I agree that they are robots and it doesn’t make sense for them to have all the qualities of a human. However, that is also why I don’t think it makes sense for them to be fully sexualized in the same way a human is.
I also agree that the concept of having robots with a feminine figure reflects the empowering qualities of Queen Jennah, but it crosses past that because they are not elegant feminine figures the same way that Jennah is, but instead are modeled after a completely naked woman (well, unless you count the heals). Jennah may utilize her sexuality as part of what makes her powerful, but she doesn’t do so by walking around topless in front of everyone.
In other words, the core concept behind what was likely intended behind these characters was great, but poorly implemented because they don’t say “you can be a good fighter while also being feminine.” It’s a delicate balance, I know, but it’s the difference between why Buffy the Vampire Slayer is often heralded for it’s female empowerment, but something like Chainsaw Lollipop isn’t.
The misconception that a lot of people seem to be making here is that it’s not inherently problematic to show women as having sexual or aesthetically pleasing qualities. However, it becomes problematic when it is done in a way, so as to objectify and diminish the other qualities of that person.

My faith in humanity has just declined a bit after reading some of the replies in this thread…
YES! I mean, GW2 has been doing so well in terms of portraying females as people rather than sex objects (well, at least compared to other MMOs), but really…
These things look straight out of Heavy Metal (not the music, but the semi-pornographic sci-fi/fantasy movie and magazone). I mean, did you really need to put nipples on these things?
Hey Omegadelta,
I’m not sure if this is exactly what you’re looking for, but I wanted to mention Remnants of Hope. We are a social PvX guild that pursue just about every type of gameplay available in GW2, including roleplay.
For a full description of RoH, you can see our recruitment post here or you can also check our our forums here. However, to address your interests in roleplay in particular, we host both forum and in-game roleplay events. Our forums include both GW2 roleplay as well as free roleplay (roleplay that can take place in any setting, established or created).
While we don’t ever require members to be roleplayers, the majority of our member base do participate in roleplay regularly. We are also going to be revamping our guild very soon, so if you’re interested in being a part of this, it may be a particularly good time to join.
Beyond roleplay, what sets Remnants of Hope apart from other guilds is that we have a very strong, tight-knit community. Our forums are very active and we hold scheduled events in game on a daily basis that cover every aspect of GW2. In addition to this, we have a more thorough and engaging trial process for new members than most guilds have, which is why we can make sure that A ) we get to know all new members well and have them become a close part of our community as well as B ) that we have a very friendly and active community where everyone can have fun and feel like they are a part of something greater.
If you’re interested, feel free to stop by our forums and submit an application and if you have any further questions, you can PM me either on these forums or in game.
I mean… technically the description was correct about applying confusion…
I think the runes applied confusion to the devs as well as the players, haha!
They want you to buy more bank space obviously.
Wouldn’t make sense for them to come out with the wallet if that was the case. =P
Runes of Perplexity now correctly apply confusion to the enemy target instead of the player.
I couldn’t help but lol at this.
The only time I’ve ever seen an elite really matter was Pain Inverter in WvW before confusion was nerfed.
Hounds of Balthazaar are the best way to min/max your dps on a particular boss fight, but the cooldown usually means you have no elite for the next boss fight, lol.
Pistol whip is in a good spot. It’s still very underestimated since so many people still miss the way it used to be, but they don’t need to change it.
Hey Trerdunth,
You might want to check out Remnants of Hope as what you’re looking for sounds a lot like us. We are a PvX guild with a very active community that host a wide variety of events throughout the day. For all the details, you can see our recruitment post here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/TC-Remnants-of-Hope-PvX-WvW-RP-2/first#post2420651
However, instead of repeating what we have there, you probably want to know what makes us different from other guilds. Here are, what I believe to be, the 3 most distinct points about our guild:
1 ) We have a much more thorough application process than a lot of other social guilds. After submitting an application, members are accepted into a trial period of two weeks. During this phase, we ask trial members to complete requirements that basically involve being involved in our community (post on our forums, attend at least 2 events, etc.). After this, we hold a brief interview with the trial member before having them voted in as a full member.
While this sounds like a lot, it’s a lot like the dailies in GW2 in that you’ll complete all of this seamlessly if you’re working to become a part of our community. The end result is that this ensures all new members are thoroughly welcomed and brought into our family (ensuring that no new face is lost in the cracks), and also fosters an active, friendly community for everyone that joins us.
2 ) We are a cross-gaming guild and that’s a good thing (at least in our case)! A lot of people are skeptical of cross-gaming guilds, for good reason. This can at times lead to guilds that are fragmented and without a cohesive community. However, we actively work to keep both sides of the guild engaged with each other. This is done by cross-guild events, such as writing contests, forum roleplay, Pictionary night, and karaoke night to name a few. There is also a lot of crossover with guild members that play both games (such as our late night SWTOR players who level with us in GW2). Finally, this is also done by our interaction on our forums, which brings me to the 3rd point:
3 ) We have very active forums. Whether you like serious GW2 discussions, forum roleplay, talk about gaming, or to simply join in forum games, there is always an active topic. Because of this, we maintain a close-knit community, even when players are on vacation or are playing a different game.
Anyways, if you haven’t yet, stop by our forums and check us out. If you have any other questions, feel free to give me a PM here or in game. =)
Personally, I tend to put 5 in acro for swiftness on dodge and 10 in Trickery to get Thrill of the Crime (Swiftness, Fury, and Might when you steal). These both give you a lot more speed for travelling, which directly improves your leveling speed since so much of leveling involves simply getting from one place to another.
Ghostwolf gave some awesome advice and I agree with all of it, but I found S/P to be the most effective weapon from those sets since you can drop a blind field with skill 5, allowing you to tank tough enemies. Also, your big damage attack (Pistol Whip) doesn’t require you to stand behind your enemy, which can be awkward when solo.
Anyways, good luck and welcome to the thief class!
Humans do look pretty good in a lot of armor, particularly the cultural armor. I like Asura too, but I’d rather go with a heavy armor class for that race.
Hey Nadalyne,
TC guild here! =D
I can relate when it comes to guilds that aren’t cohesive or interactive since I’ve bounced between a few myself before I found my current home. If you’re looking for a guild to become actively involved with that is also engaging, cohesive and really gives off a friendly sense of community, then you should check out Remnants of Hope.
For the full run down on us, you may want to look at our recruitment thread here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/recruitment/TC-Remnants-of-Hope-PvX-WvW-RP-2/first#post2420651
However, to address some of your points:
– We hold events for just about anything you can do in game, but we never require any members to participate in any type of content. If you’re not into PvP, there’s plenty of PvE events to join us on and you never have to do any PvP.
– We don’t require any members to ever spend a ton of time in game. Many of us have plenty of RL that takes us away (myself included) and that’s not a problem. We only ask that you be engaged as a member of our community when you are with us. =)
– We also have an active calendar where we have events regularly, generally with at least once per day and upwards of 3-4 on the weekends.
Now, you’re going to hear from a lot of guilds that advertise about being active and such, so let me get down to what I think sets us apart. For all new members, we do have a longer application than most guilds. Once a member applies, we also have a two week trial period where members are asked to fulfill some requirements that consist of posting on our forums, joining with us in events, and getting to know at least one person who will sponsor you as a good fit for the guild. After these two weeks, we do a brief interview with you to check up and see how your experience with the guild has been.
The reason we have all this set up is because we want to make sure that
A ) We get a chance to really know every member that joins our guild. We don’t want new members falling through the cracks or being left out.
B ) This also ensures that every member that joins has an active and engaged community to become part of.
Anyways, if this sounds like it may be a good fit for you, feel free to check out our forums and apply. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me on the forums or in game.
Oh, also if you do decide to try us out, you can do so as a guest at first if you prefer and transfer later on when you feel comfortable. Unfortunately, TC is usually a full server, but we try to keep records of when it drops below full for members that want to transfer in.
GW2 is the best MMO on the market, especially for someone like me that isn’t interested in throwing hours on end to grind out gear/content that’s obsolete a month or two later.
Honestly, Arg.
Just because your thread wasn’t as well-received as you would have liked doesn’t mean you need to go off on people for using a build that you seem to think you have some E-Rivalry with. =/
What upsets me is that this video is passed for being “skill”.
What? The guy linked a video. He didn’t say anything about how awesome he thought he was and unless I missed something in the video, he didn’t say that he was super awesome anywhere in there either.
Was it really necessary to tear into this guy just because he wanted to share his gameplay with the community?
Aggressively deconstructing anything in sight may be par for the course on the internet, but it’s still a pretty crappy thing to do. There are people behind these keyboards. =/
Hey Lobo, Aidyn beat me to it on recommending Remnants of Hope, but I was going to add that one of the things that sets us apart from other guilds is how we go about bringing in new members.
One of the first things new members will notice is that we have a pretty comprehensive application. Once this is accepted, the applicant enters a trial period where we ask them to fulfill some requirements that are essentially to engage with the community (post on the forums, run events with us, etc.) and after the two week trial period, we then do a brief interview just to check in and see how well everything has been working out.
Now, you may ask why we have such a deep process for a guild that is suited for both casual and hardcore players alike? There are two reasons behind this:
1 ) We want to make sure we get to know all new members to make sure that they’re friendly and promote a positive atmosphere, just like our current member base.
2 ) We also want to make sure that when a member joins us, we are providing a great experience for them as well! The last thing we want is to have someone join the guild and feel alienated or to feel like we’re not helping them reach their goals.
In other words, we understand that you don’t build a great guild by just grabbing anyone who is looking for a guild and puffing up your numbers. This isn’t fair to current members and it’s not fair to new members either.
Now, this doesn’t mean that you need to spend tons of time logging in the game or in the forums. On the contrary, a large part of our member base are people like you who have real life responsibilities that can take up a lot of time. You don’t have to be max level character with perfect gear that logs in every day. You just need to be a friendly person who can appreciate a close-knit community.
Anyways, sorry to go on so long, but I just wanted to give you a bit more background. Thank you for your consideration and we hope to hear back from you. =)
I hear Jenna had invited one of the high ranking centaurs to speak at the Jubilee and hopefully help mend relations, but he had to cancel. He was feeling a little hoarse.
This made my day.
S/P makes any fight against melee pretty easy since you can deal drop a blind field and stand in it while fighting. This forces your enemy to either stand in it and constantly miss or run away, giving you time to put out dps while they aren’t. This in addition to stun locking and dazing any heals from fleeing enemies with skill 4 make S/P work really well with the right build.
You need to be smart with your IS to keep your port at a decent range so that you can escape any stuns as well as to force a moving fight away from your port spot, but if you do this, you can survive really well without needing to stealth.
This is why I’m a fan of 10/30/0/0/30 S/P for roaming.
It’s Dalaran. WoW got jealous and decided to send it’s floating city to spy on us.
Little known fact: This is the real reason that the NPC in CoF p1 constantly says “I think we have more spies!!”
How are engineers supposed to follow their nose if Toucan Sam goes away every time they want to throw a grenade?!?
^ great sentence to use out of context with any friends that have never heard of GW2.
Personally, I think that human T3 with Vigil armor looks good. Attached is my guild forum sig that shows how my char looks with it:

This is an awesome build, but it looks like the exact same thing as Tessa Avery’s guide on the GW2 Guru forums: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/83957-tessa-averys-swordpistol-shortbow-daze-burst-build/
Tessa is pretty cool. I dueled him/her one day for about 20 minutes. We were pretty 50/50 on the wins and we figured out we pretty much run the same build. Tessa has a lot more emphasis on shortbow and I mainly stick to the sword/pistol. Tessa is definitely a player I respect and I didn’t mean to take any of their glory. I actually didn’t know Tessa had a guide up before your post
Edit: I checked out the guide and the builds are indeed almost identical. Tessa has 2 different traits and 1 different utility.
Well, the last patch really put this build in a good place, so it doesn’t surprise me to see this happen. I think a lot of people still really underestimate S/P since it was all, but forgotten since back when Pistol Whip was first nerfed.
Personally, I love this build. I tend to prefer sword builds as it is and the high uptime on stuns/dazes gives this build a lot of utility while also allowing it to dish out some great dps.
edit
I’ve looked closer into your build and I see more differences now, such as the 20 point trait in CS, sigils, and utility skills. I never really thought about Sigil of Para before, honestly, but I could see how it works well with this build. Does it work with Basilisk’s?

Yes! It would be amazing if ANet added an option to make the cursor bright and shiny in some way so that you could use it more easily with smartcasting!
This would be a very easy thing to change in game, but it would make a huge difference to a lot of players.
