It’s Kormir! She mad at Trehearne for taking over the personal story, so she wants to destroy all sylvari!
Yeah…this was in no way supposed to be living story content…it’s WvW, not living story.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-edge-of-the-mists-a-new-map-is-coming-to-wvw/
It’s a good bet than when you bring in a bunch of PvE’rs that some of them will stick around and increase the WvW population. The last thing anyone wants is for the WvW population to be become stagnant. This will lead to it’s death. Putting up with PvE’rs for 2 weeks is going to hurt anyone and in the long term will help WvW.
I doubt the feedback won’t be a good one.
So far you received never any good feedback whenever you tried to lure PvErs into WvW with a bunch of Achievements and a tiny Story tidbits .It always resulted only in a big ****storm that was basically guaranteed to happen due to all of the WvW Elitists getting annoyed by us PvEers/Achievement Hunters and vice versa.
To be honest, this forum will react negatively to whatever Anet does with GW2. Consider the post that started this thread. The poster claims to feel cheated by an update that a) is free, b.) hasn’t been released yet, and c) we have very little information about. It seems there is nothing that Anet can do, short of specifically designing an update for him, that would make him happy.
If the new pick is as disruptive as people claim it is, then the solution is a no brainer. Buy the new pick and you will easily and quickly earn more than enough to pay for whatever past mistakes you made.
I don’t think so. A Warrior with a staff… doesn’t make much sense
You never watched Ninja Turtles?
A staff could be a great weapon. It would do less damage per hit, but if they make it a very fast weapon that could, for example, knock opponents over or daze them, it could be very effective.
Because Ninja Turtles is so realistic.
I think some of it is intentional.
I hated my thief until recently. Now it’s becoming my favorite class.
It’s my fault. I’ve trolled each and everyone of these events that have failed. It’s been tough and I’ve had to use multiple accounts, but I’ve succeeded.
Bwahahahaha!!
Scarlet has some of the new picks and funds her armies by selling off used sprockets!
You paid 800 gems for it. The new one costs 1000. You’ll get no refund.
It’s not pay to win. You’ll make more money with regular picks than you ever will with this thing.
Would you call it just another ‘convenience-tool’? Lets not get into numbers, because I’m not smart like that -….
You find no disagreement with this statement here. It’s because you’re, as you put it, “not smart like that”, you think this is pay to win.
Better idea, give ANet a chance to apologize for an obvious PTW item slipping into the gem store so they can remove it and move on.
If not, then I don’t see it ending well, as the original idea was to give players the convenience of not having to buy gathering tools perpetually. Nowhere in the game is there a pick that can harvest sprockets, hence this in not convenient, it is however giving an advantage.
It’s not pay to win. You’ll make more money with regular picks than you ever will with this thing.
You have no idea what PTW is then. If you don’t pay, you no can has sprockets.
I mined sprockets just last night without this pick. You need to get your facts straight.
Also, since when were sprockets required to win. In a culture where anything other than berzerker gear is considered selfish, what do I need sprockets for?
Actually it is PTW and its very simple. If you don’t spend gems to buy the pick, you cannot get that particular resource from mining. It is not available without buying gems with either cash or gold. Using this pick gives an additional monetary gain over my Molten Pick which is only a permanent skinned version of the Original pick.
I get sprockets from mining everyday, without this pick. Your argument is tremendously flawed.
Not P2W.
Not by a long shot. And here’s why…
For those us us that have completed the meta for this LS, we have our own personal node to get Sprockets. Much like the Quartz Node, this will give us access to something you can’t get anywhere else in game.
But, where does that leave those of us who do not, or are unable to finish the meta?
kitten out of luck, that’s what. Unless they have a generous friend that lets them into their Home Instance to use their node…
This pick gives people another option for getting this crafting material, and puts less pressure on those who have a hard time with the meta.
On top of that, Sprockets can be bought and sold on the TP. This Pick in no way shape or form makes those without access to it unable to get Sprockets. If it did… If this Pick was the only way to get Sprockets, then I’d be up in arms over this like everyone else.Pay2Win?
People are /far/ to quick to want to slap that label on this gameSo then where is the goal post? If they sell a pick that gives a chance for ori at each node? Azurite Orbs? Gives gold coins? After all, these are all available in game and can be had by anyone.
Yes, the sprockets are a small thing. So let’s just move the goal post a little further…then a little further…then a little more.
It’s up to the player base to let the devs know whether or not they are ok with what’s on offer. For some players, just being able to buy gold is p2w, even if there was a good reason behind it (although this has not stopped gold sellers or bots at all in game, so that’s a failed experiment to an extent. Anet just gets a cut of those profits now). Players have the obligation to voice their opinions on either side of this issue.
In truth, it’s a p2w mechanic, just like many other p2w mechanics in game already. This one is just way to obvious to let go.
How about setting the goal posts at something that is actually pay to win. This is only pay to win for people who are math challenged.
The first time I ever did an instanced event with other players was Caudecus Manor. About half way through, the leader of the group quit and we all dropped out. How can anyone say that instancing is better.
Most of those ores are garbage. You see the prices on the TP? Would take a great deal of time to get the funds needed for all that.
She purchased the basic ore package from BLTC.
It was a joke. I’m sorry you didn’t get it.

Beetletun. It’s nearly impossible.
What about those who already paid 1000 gems for the Bone Pick or the Molten Pick back when they first became account bound?
No one ever paid 1000 gems for the molten pick.
I’ve bought both unbreakable pick axes so far and intend to buy the third. I love these things.
She purchased the basic ore package from BLTC.
Oh great, now we’re going to call out employees by name and claim they ruin the game. This tactic has no class.
Your suggestion has only one flaw. Casuals will whine in forums “Why do we have to get bad rewards than that small portion of community? We are the majority, give us everything and give them immediately!”
The only whining I see being done currently is by self proclaimed hardcore players.
Disrespect? You should read my posts, I constantly explain I have no problem with people playing how they want to play – My issue is that Anet releases hardcore content that they specifically say is ‘for hardcore players’. Then they give a system where casuals/hardcores are forced to do it together and it’s so finely tuned that it’s almost impossible to carry the casuals (so tough that it’s been done twice out of the thousand attempts+ so far). Sorry, but in this instance, it is true; for all the previous content, it’s not been an issue because the content is easy enough. Casual players are so scared by elitism, but this isn’t about that; it’s about content that is enjoyable for all players. I like to try hard and I personally don’t want to play with people who are not interested in this; again, I don’t have a problem with them, it’s just ridiculous that in order to accomplish this difficultly tuned content I have to either carry it enough or force these more casual players by pleading with them to respec/get on TS/learn the strats/etc. – There is no fun in this method. Dragging people day after day through content is not anyone’s definition of fun.
Lay off the insults to casuals please.
NO thanks, no need for this elitist wow bs in this game.
GW2 is open world everyone can join in, don’t like it? go back to wow. This is a very weak argument. It’s obvious by the amount of participation that people like these large group effort fights, and the game can only benefit from having stronger ways of organizing large groups, which is what I’m asking for. Please stop wielding the term “elitist” like a cudgel to smash what you don’t like. It doesn’t form good discussion.
And what would your stronger ways of organizing entail and what would they accomplish?
Build check- Pidgeon holing people into certain specs
Gear check- Same as above
Instancing- Segregating the community so those that don’t want to join a big guild/alliance can’t participate? Those things will foster an elitist community and give rise to big guilds. That is not what this game was designed around. I understand people want some harder content, but do not try and push instanced raids into the game or you will potentially ruin it. How? Well besides the elitism it breeds it then becomes an issue of rewards. “We did a hard raid and got greens and yellows! Rabble! Rabble! Rabble!”. Suddenly raids are where you must go to get good loot, then new tiers of loot because Raid X is harder than Raid Y. At that point the entire casual nature of GW2 is gone. It is Raid or Die, WoW 2.
Instead lets build hard content that doesn’t depend on certain gear or builds and doesn’t have mechanics that trolls can ruin. We can keep things hard but without exclusion and elitism.
Without exclusion…? Why are there guilds? Why do you have a friends list? Why is there a block button? Why are parties limited to 5? Let’s just create 1 large guild that forces everyone to play with each other. You may want to get carried in content that is too difficult for casuals to complete on their own, but hardcore players have 0 interest in this.
Wow, I am floored by your disrespect towards casuals. I hope you post gets deleted by the mods. Your position that all casuals want to be carried is disgusting.
No one paid 1000 credits for any of the tools in the first set. They always sold for 800 credits.
I suspect the next Elder Dragon fight will be open world. It will be a large fight that will utilize some of the techniques that were originally used in these initial large scale battles.
It looks like someone bought a tool that created extra threads.
It’s too bad there are no other threads discussing this issue.
Even worse is that the pick is account bound. Thus, not only does it give more loot, but its more alt friendly than older picks. Thanks for making me loose gem store trust in you Anet.
Wanna fix it? make older picks mine their own resources or at LEAST make them account bound. That way I can give my old tools to alts and have my main use the best ones.
The older picks are account bound also. If you have a souldbound version, it can be updated for free by a black lion weapon specialist or whatever.
Everybody bought the first set of tools for 800 each. Most people bought second set of tools for 800. These cost 1000.
I’m calling the next item will be a sickle that has a 20% chance at pristine spores. Think if that item came out instead of the mining pick, people would immediately be up in arms. Don’t downplay it because sprockets aren’t worth much. Sure you can still get spores in game now, but check the price, 3s a piece. If every 5 herbs brought you an extra 3s, would you be cheesed then?
I think you might be right in regards to the sickle, in which case, yes, that would be a cause for this thread since there isn’t, currently, an in game method of getting the spores after the temp content is gone, unless they will still be in Kessex hills. Not sure I would mind though since constant supply will keep the cost lower than without it. And there aren’t many things that use the spores anyway, especially with the tri-color key chests gone.
You can still harvest spores. I believe it was in Kessex Hill where I encountered some since the new patch.
How is this pay to win, while the ores aren’t?
kitten kitten it!
this breaks all sorts of things I previously loved. pay to win and gear treadmill.
if my molten pick doesn’t get a 20% chance of a bonus azurite crystal from any node, someone will be receiving a very strongly worded email. (Bone pick should have 20% chance of candy corn)
I believe you only paid 800 credits for it.
I do not like green eggs and ham,
I do not like them Braham I am.
She is not “behind it”. She is invading the Mists (which we have known for quite some time that she were trying to do) and we need to stop her.
I for one love the fact that they actually give us a reason for a new map suddenly appearing rather than just logging in one day and all of a sudden there is a completely new land available.
What I mean to say is they could give us… non scarlet lore… for something that seems far from scarlet. I just don’t like how everything goes back to one person.
It’s called a living story. All updates revolve around the living story. Once this season ends, then you’ll get a short break and LS season 2 will begin. Once LS season 2 begins, then all the updates will involve that LS.
Everyone is going to complain about being in overflow.
I think the Queensdale champ train is silly. It makes me laugh to see all these people with legendary weapons and now ascended armor running around Queensdale killing champions. It’s not uncommon for a member of the train to decide that he owns all of Queensdale and start admonishing those that he feels are not playing along with his order. What a jerk! Anyways, I see no reason to stop the train.
Harper’s point is spot on. If Anet wants to get rid of the Queensdale champ train, it can be done by making a better location elsewhere.
What makes the ogre bag different from any other 10 slot bag?
i think it’s reasonable to speculate that one of her objectives is to reshape the world to her image. create her own systems distort existing ones, and so on. i mean, that’s what the short story makes her plan sound like.
but… anything beyond that is speculating on top of speculation, and that’s not productive
That’s an interesting point. I’m reminded of the Pale Tree’s quote: “she has confused knowledge, power, and authority so completely that, in her mind, they are indistinguishable.”
It’s not articulated perfectly, but it makes me think (based on your point) that Scarlet thinks she’s in charge of the changes, and is in control of all of this, when in reality, she’s under the control of someone else.
I’m curious as to your thoughts on this interpretation.
I think Scarlet is gaining the upper hand in the conflict and the Ceara is losing. I think Ceara is still there and occasionally able to sabotage Scarlet. For example, it may have been Ceara’s doing that we were able to destroy Scarlet’s tower.
Konig, you forget that Svanir had free will before becomming a dragon champion. The Sons of Svanir, all choose to become dragon minions, they are not forced. So please drop your no free will argument, that dog don’t hunt.
SoR failed earlier tonight at the 6:00 PDT run.
I don’t think Scarlet’s nightmares, are part of “the nightmare”. I think it’s something in her subconcious. I still think the pale tree is a dragon champion that has gone Glint. Sylvari are obviously an intelligent race. The protected seeds indicate that they existed before, and obviously are valuable to someone. Yet, history makes no mention of them. In Omadd’s chamber, Scarlet was able to disconnect totally from the protection of “The Dream” and from “The Nightmare”. It was at this time the entity took advantage of Scarlet’s weakness and is now plotting to destroy the Pale Tree, just as Glint was destroyed.
Yeah, I know the claim that only a ritual known by the forgotten can convert a champion. However, Glint had existed for many years as a champion, where the pale seedling had yet to develop. Possibly due to the immaturity of the pale tree, Ventari’s and Ronan’s efforts were enough to change the tree.
Now that is a very interesting interpretation of Scarlet’s mockery of Jennah’s Watchknights that she stole (update note page outright calls it an intended mockery). A hidden message by her to show that she herself is just a puppet…
I love it but feel it’s too in depth for ArenaNet’s current quality of writing…
“This malevolent being out there was so powerful that it started taking over her mind and giving her suggestions in terms of what she should be doing and things like that. There is a big point here, in terms of the battle between Scarlet’s free will versus this creature’s and you’ll see her transformation.”
It may be exactly what she is saying. Maybe you should ease up on Anet a bit.

Is there an empty server?
Just read the wiki and yes they have been added to Scarlet’s invasions. I haven’t seen them though so I didn’t know the Lore had been tweaked.
They’ve been part of Scarlet’s forces, since before the clockwork forces.
Excuse me, but I think being forced into underpopulated overflows is a “legit” complaint.
Not really…
The overflows are created when a server is FULL. Then an overflow is made. When that one fills, another is made and so on.
So if there is 1 or maybe 2 overflows that just maybe don’t have enough players to do the event, that’s not a failure. You still have hundreds of players doing the event. You just handcuffed yourself because you showed up 10 minutes before spawn time.
Just come back the next time as it keeps spawning every 2 hours. Just this time come back a little sooner. It’s not like any of this is going away soon. Wurm is here to stay forever and the Marionette is here for 2+ weeks.
I realize you jumped into this thread midway, but I hate to have to reiterate my OP.
This is exactly what I’m unhappy about: Being required to camp out on a map for several hours to do an event in main. As it currently stands on Blackgate, if you aren’t there an 1+ hours before the event, you aren’t getting into main. For me that’s unacceptable.
Your problem is your on Blackgate. Big cities have traffic problems. There’s only so much that can be done about it. If your going to live in a big city you have to accept that there’s a lot of traffic. That’s why you live in Blackgate, because of the traffic. If you don’t like the traffic, I suggest you move to a smaller city.
So I find it odd that despite being so close to where the steam creatures live, there seem to be none involved in the Marionette fight.
They don’t have anything to do with Scarlet. Its been a while since I did any Asura personal story but from memory they have something to do with the steam creatures.
Then why are they part of her invasion forces?
Also, they were part of her forces that attacked the queen’s balloons.
So I find it odd that despite being so close to where the steam creatures live, there seem to be none involved in the Marionette fight.
