I want to see that fight. WHO IS THE BIGGEST MARY SUE!?
Threarne
We can’t have Trehearne without inviting Kormir.
Is it possible to set up a tournament, like in NCAA basketball?
Think about it. He’s got a cool sword, he’s in Destiny’s Edge. He can kick Logan’s butt. He even pushes around that one girl from flame and frost. Is there anything he can’t do?
He’s such a Mary Sue.
Is this your first rodeo? The last few metas have all required dailies. If I remember right it does say that there are 11 achievements and 3 dailies are required. Maybe it was in the update notes. If you’ve been playing regularly since August, it shouldn’t be a surprise.
Agree with the OP, its a terrible daily, takes for too long for a daily. You after do 20 offshoot spore events to complete it, so its 4x as long as the other daily, daily event completer where you do 5 events.
Should be 5 or 10 spores.
Also, YES THEY HAVE NERFED SPORE DROP RATE, shock, horror. I was getting 10-15 after completing 1 toxic offshoot event first night from some of the events, now its 3-5.
I don’t get it. How is 10 minutes to complete a daily to long? The problem here is not the daily, it’s you. You decided to do it the hard way and limit your spore gathering to events. You could have walked up to Fort Salma, found the patch there and harvested the toxic seedlings, but you didn’t.
These spores are all over the place. Just harvest them when you see them. It’s no different than gathering 20 resources. Look for the Toxic Seedlings and harvest them. Only about 1 in 4 will produce a spore, but they all count towards the goal whether or not a spore is produced.
Why do we need a new race? Isn’t 5 enough?
Yet GW1 had a skill that was available to all professions from day 1. The resurection signet was a skill common to all individuals as well as the signet of capture. More common skills were added in Nightfall. Of course as we all know, a multitude of common skills were added in EOTN. You need to stop acting like this is something new.

In the past, I’ve seen a number of posts requesting a mechanic similar to GW1 earning of elite skills. Now that we are being given something similar to that, all I see is complaigning. What’s up with that?
Because its nothing similar to gw1 elite skills obtaining? GW1 elites were class skills, which bosses used and you cap it after defeating boss, this is uniclass skill that you get thru achivement grind.
It is similar. First off, the class of the skill has nothing to do with the mechanic, I’m not sure why you associated the class of the skill with the mechanic used in obtaining it. Also, please describe the achievement grind that is required to get the skill. There has been no mention of a grind associate with obtaining the skill. In fact, it looks like you will be able to purchase it with skill points.
Also, could you please tell me what class Raven Blessing was specific to?
So if you are able to buy it with skill points how is that similar to capping it like in gw1?
And plz don’t go there, eotn skills locked behind achivements were worst thing that happend to gw, it completely destroyed pve. It all became speedclear this, speedclear that…
And beeing shared among all was another turnoff for me.
Turn off or not the fact is there were two ways to earn elite skills. One way was to cap them, the other was to earn them through quests. Quests are what you seem to call grind.
Not enough details on how to obtain the new skill, but it does appear that once the chapter is finished, people will still be able to obtain the skill in a manner similar to purchasing it.
If I remember right, skill caps had to be purchased in GW1.
If gw1 is any indication, my guess is:
- not usable in spvp
- either skill is ‘under-powered’ (like racial skills) and will see niche use in pve/wvw
- or skill is ‘over-powered’ (like gw1 pve skills) and will not be allowed in wvw in addition to spvp
I would bet on underpowered like racial skills. But they do want to put new skills in the game and an underpowered skill would not advance them towards that goal.

there better be an unbreakable axe available. A krait axe might look pretty cool also.
I say we wait for the detail of the skill before we declare OP.
This addition is really going to save on time for those who are communing =) And is it safe to assume that this means 1 free skill point a day? That might give reason to always visit my home at reset.
One skill point a day is possible, but I would think it would be too many skill points. I would think that the first use would provide the skill point, and from then on it would only charge your crystals. This is how other locations work.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/ – For those of you who never read it.
It simply lists some of the features coming in 2013. Since this blog came out the following major changes came out on the major releases (the ones that last 4 weeks) and included the following:
- Crafting to 500 and Ascended Weapons
- Dungeon Reward Changes
- Champion Loot Bags
- Account Magic FindAll some major changes, then came the start of the October update and wow what a disappointment that was, one new dungeon path and 0 things promised in the “2013” blog. Now the preview for the November patch is up (well just before November) and it also has 0 new features promised in 2013.
I really hope this new update https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/october-29-2013/ is just to end Halloween and we get a real update with some real features the week later because 2013 doesn’t have too long left and there are a lot more features promised for this year:
- The rest of the crafts to 500 and ascended armor
- New sPvP rewards system (possibly legendaries in sPvP)
- Scavenger Hunt or craftable precursors (possibly the same thing)
- New legendary weps and a new type of legendary
- New skills and traits
- If i’m not mistaken the council election also promised a new fracs level (this year?)If the November patch is really this tower of nightmares then wow, that leaves 3 more patches for the year (mid November, start of December and mid December). This seems like a lot to expect given that the middle of the month patches don’t normally contain much.
Anyone else kind of upset at how the new features were rolling out and now they have suddenly stopped? I know gw2 is free to play but seriously what’s with the drop in good content/features.
EDIT: Yea I’m sure more will be added to the preview like always, just hope it’s something big.
I don’t recall any of these features being promised. I remember Anet saying they are being worked on, but not promised. You need to stop twisting anets words.
Suddenly knowing something that only two people “alive” would know can however not be explained.
Sure it can.
“A new chapter has appeared within the pages of the Mad Memories, revealing to you a past that up to now has been known only to the Bloody Prince and the Mad King.”
And then they tie that together by releasing a new scavenger hunt that leads to yet another upgraded Mad Memories.
Look at that, justification for putting it in game and I thought it up in under a minute.
Bad example. The only way that the informatin in the latest short story could show up in game is if the blood prince stopped fighting you long enough to give a long and boring expository of what happened.
Extremely few people want to read the wall a text that won’t even help them play the game better. Usability tests consistently show that players simply do not want this.
In this example, Anet actually used the best method available to get this information out.
Disagree. The Elder Scrolls games are quite popular and use the book/text format in-game to convey lore. Certainly not everyone reads them, but it is an appreciated option.
But how many of the players you describe would be willing to watch a rad cut scene?
Anet has already stated that your rad cut scenes are too expensive, they’re not going to happen.
You can choose to agree with the results of real test data or not, the choice is yours. Typically, disagreeing results in error.
While I’m on this topic, does anyone know if a petition expressing a want for an expansion for Guild Wars 2 exists? Cause I would sign one in a heartbeat!
I bet like 60%+ of the player base would sign it ……
well at least those who read the forums……..
If only 60% would sign the petition, what percentage would actually buy it. That’s the problem with an expansion, it would divide the player base.
It’s a totally unnecessary piece of equipment that barely even qualifies to be considered cosmetic. I don’t understand the obsession with it.
I say let’s remove the requirement to log in and reward people every day for just, you know, having an account.
Now that I’ve thought about a bit, my above reward system seems too harsh and punishes those that don’t play GW2. I propose that Anet reward everyone that ever has been, and ever could be. Full rewards for everyone, even those that don’t play.
Well blame Anet for infinite AP reward from this minigame.
No blame the players for their bad behavior. It’s time you held players responsible for their behavior rather than blame Anet.
OP, report the players for harassing you. They will hopefully receive a temp ban.
You would think the Manifesto was the Holy Bible or something. Do people worship this thing and offer ritual sacrifices to it?
Wow, apparently he only made it to level 15. Hoepfully he get’s banned for the anatomy reference.
snip
They didn’t make it into a cutscene because it wasn’t necessary. You got all the information you needed without it.
Yeah i did because i am pretty observant, i’ve yet to read what they put on the web and i have no intention to do so, but they must have felt it was important enough if they put it on the web, why not put it in the game instead? Guild Wars2 is a game not a novel, though they do have novels based on the GW2 universe that leads up the beginning of the GW2 game setting. there are plenty of cut-scenses and dialogue snippets that explain everything that happened in the novels so players aren’t lost. I think they need to keep putting that kind of work in the game. Throwing it out there on the web only seems like they are doing half of the job. Maybe that chat that MK and BP did sum up the web story and that’s great.
But apparently scarlet had a back story too unfortunately that was also on the web so I did not read it. I might actually be interested in her as a character if they gave me a reason to but i don’t see any of that because it’s not presented in the medium in which she was created for, the game not a web story.
all i’m saying is that a little well written cut-scene can go a long way, but that they probably don’t have time to make something like that because of the bi weekly schedule they are placed on. Even if they are working on this a month or so in advance because they have rotating teams things still seemed rushed. I am not even blaming the devs they have talent and tools what they don’t seem to have is time. anything worth doing is worth doing right.
You wouldn’t believe how many people would just go TL;DR at any attempt at exposition. Players just don’t like it. Keep it short, keep it simple. That’s all 90% of your players can handle. Short stories on the internet give the developers an opportunity to dive deeper into lore than is possible in game.
Completely agree with the Thread Starter. GW was known for being fair and not being grindy like all other MMOs out there. People can play those MMOs, if they want hardcore, but GW should be mainly for casuals and enjoy the world… of course with some option for hardcores like legendaries, but not things like a whole ascended set, which give advantages
That’s nice and all but GW never was an MMO.
It was also extremely grindy.
Infact, I believe that Scartlet is the person that wrote the first post.
If the developers actually took time they could find a way to present what they thought had to be put up on the web into the game. How many games have people played that have had great stories? Its not hard.
I stood around in the labyrinth yesterday and watched the dialogue between MK and BP in in those short snippets of dialogue i picked up the gist of their history. MK killed BP’s mother and other parental figures in his life because that’s what MK does he’s insane after all. At some point he shoved BP into a box and apparently that’s how he died living off of candy corn in a box. But BP is not some heroic figure either he’s just as bad as MK his memories are a mess as well so this suggests trauma as BP couldn’t remember that it was he who tortured someone he admired and blamed it on MK.
There was no wall of text and just by that alone a short dialogue that lasted only a few minutes i picked up a great deal of history between the two, it was just a few lines of voiced dialogue. It’s on repeat in the labyrinth so jut go in there and hang out if you haven’t caught it yet. Why they couldn’t have made that into an instance with a cut-scene of some sort though is beyond me. You can tell a story retroactively through good dialogue.
Why is this so hard to do? I’ll tell you why
bi weekly turnover, if they had more time they could make richer content instead trying to meat a deadline.

I demand less grind!
I demand my achievement for carving 200 pumpkins!
PVE
1. Skins – I like the “Skin Bank” that is used for achievement skins. Can you do this for all skins going forward.
2. Town clothes – Can you treat town clothes as skins above?
OP forgot the free devil horns that everybody got last year.
Last year on day 3 we had doors and pumpkin carving. That’s it.
OP is right if this is it. I wonder why there are no new non gemstore any things. It’s one thing to increase the grind on last years items, another to increase the grind on last years items and add zero this years items.
Are the free devil horns that important to you? How many free devil horns do you want? If you look at the gem store you’ll see there are new things there, they are constantly updating the available items in the gem store.
In case you don’t remember, last year when halloween started people complained that there was nothing to do. The first week had barely anything. I would wait until after the event to complain. Your complaining may be premature.
With all the complaints about there being too many backpack items lately, I’m quite surprised that there are so many complaints about there not being a backpack item.
I’m of the opinion that the 80 level cap is never going to be raised. Rebalancing everything would be too difficult to make raising the cap worth while. There’s really no point to it.
Now go back and ask your friends if all the cool stuff they talked about was available on the first day of the event.
They’ve always used RNG. All MMO’s use RNG.
Zerg worked for me. Now if I can only get credit for killing the candy corn guy. I’ve helped kill him twice now and still haven’t got the achievement. I did get the chest the first time, but not the second.
I doubt anyone would be hurt by a reduction in the drop rate. I’m a very casual player and I never farm anything if I can help it. But even I’ve got a stack of dust and another 100 or so in my bank.
The really annoying thing is my highest craft (apart from jeweller) is only about 200 so it’s going to be a very long time before I can even convert it to bricks and alleviate some of the problem that way.
I don’t want to just delete it because it seems like a waste, and in case they do give us an alternative but I think once I get over 500 I’m going to have to start doing that.
Rather than punishing people by reducing the drop rate, why not just delete your dust?
Since bloodstone dust cannot be sold, it doesn’t matter how much of it floods into the game. Thus it will never be nerfed.
They added the wallet which solved the problem of all the various currencies taking up bank/bag space, even though those are account bound and cannot be sold. They might come up with a similar fix for dust. I don’t think anyone would mind what they do exactly, as long as they get it out of our inventories/banks.
Even if it wasn’t worth anything on the TP making it tradable would be a big help for me because then I could put it into my storage guild bank instead.
You could just delete the dust.
They need to put other ascended mats in those champion boxes. With a rare chance for the upgraded mats. That would solve part of the problem, then make it so the mats can be vendored and no more wasted bag space. But we all know what that means and that’s not what they’re known for.
Deleting the dust will also solve your wasted bag space problem. Why can’t you just delete it?
Instead of reducing the drop rate and punishing everyone, why not just delete it? I don’t understand hoarders and pack rats that can’t perform such a simple function.
Has anet publicly responded to this issue yet?
Executioner’s Axe?
Guillotine?
yea i don´t mind RNG, i have all the items i could posibly want.
The issue here in my opinion is that the upcoming patches are bringing higher and higher stakes gambling. to the point i wouldnt be surprised if a loto type of item sudenly came to the cashop, with the chances of 1/10000, awarding the lucky guy with a 1000 gold+ woth item.
This is just a few steps ahead from what they are doing. But yea lets not complain about it, anyways when the game get to that point ill quit and probably head to a casino, because when gambling in an online game even when you win you lose.
Lotto type boxes, they’ve been with us since day one. They’re called Black Lion Chests.
Yep. I’m a member of one of the large multi-gaming guild directed towards the older gamers (well, 25+, which can be old by internet standards, but there are members well past their 60’s and more), and was long before GW2 came out.
Other than that, I’m also in the TTS for the tequatl fights, and I’ve temporarely joined some guilds here and there to do guild missions. Personally being in a guild is a big part of MMO gaming for me, and I’ve stayed in lower quality games longer because of the guild I’m on, and at the same time I’ve stopped playing better quality games because there’s nobody to talk to.
25 isn’t old by any standard. the median age of video gamers is 30+. Your still on the younger half.
One reason it’s entirely based on luck is because if it wasn’t, the games economy would be destroyed. Ascended weapons would sell for cheaper than level 20 weapons. If all you had to do was kill BOSS X to get an ascended weapon, people would line up for hours and farm Boss X. Within a day, ascended weapons would be cheaper than level 20 weapons. ANet would most likely react by putting up a time gate on BOSS X which would start a whine fest like never seen before here. That is why ascended weapons are RNG based.
For those who remember GW2 on its first month, people would farm for hours, doing dungeons or cursed shore events. If a party of 6 ended up with the same loot at the end of the day, where everyone was doing the exact same thing.
Even if you where lucky and get an exotic, they where just 5-10 rare worth, and in the worst case scenario you get a precursor that used to be 50-60 gold (after 2000 hours i still haven´t seen 1 drop for me). But you could farm enough to buy yourself a precursor.
Dungeons gave people with the same rewards, there was no fractal BS roll on who get ascended ring/ ascended weap/fractal skin.
I used to think this made the game great, for the first time i was able to see that no lucky guy could have 1 single drop on a random day that worth more than the accounts of half the population of this game.
Well i don´t like gambling in games, if i had to choose between farming a dungeon 10 times to get my gear done, or get a 1/10 chance reward everytime i beat it, i know which one i would pick.
Now before people complain about this happening only on isolated cases i would give some examples:
- fractal rings
-fractal skins
-ascended weapons
-tequatl rewards
-champion rewards (lvl 10 people killing champs on queensdale and getting a genesis roflmao)
-autherized weapon skins
-SAB auction-able skinsBleh when i was VERY lucky on a dungeon best i got was a Charged Lodestone over anyone else in my party.
People have been complaining about RNG in this game since 8/25/12. Nostalgia seems to have clouded your mind.
I just wish we could know for sure.. some kind of answer. I only bought 50 and changed my mind and sold them back asap… but I have been here since headstart and all keep thinking is all the bans… like the norn karma weapons, the chili poppers, the snowflakes, and now I am scared to lose my account
I know it was only 50 but still I have doubt and until it is resolved I will be worried.
I wouldn’t worry about 50.
Timberline falls is beautiful, however, there’s nothing to do there.
Scarlet used thorns to kill her first victim.
I know it was only 50 but still I have doubt and until it is resolved I will be worried.
