Monthly and daily achievements are not mend to be a real achievement, just to keep people busy and keep people login regularly. Both are easy to achieve, the four monthly often within a few days w/o really a lot of effort. Would really like to see more challanging PVE content and unique rewards (gear, weaps, craft mats) for hard achievements, like hard-mode dungeons (not like fractals…) which cannot be gained otherways.

Many of these harder achievements that you are asking for come from the living stories.

Sure, some living stories have hard achievements and I love those which really need personal skills or a good organized party, but in general I won’t say they are really hard to do, a lot of repeating and some pretty boring like winter event… but it’s a matter of personal preference :-)

If you have too many hard achievements, people will stop playing. The goal is to have the right mix of hard and easy achievements so that the maximum number of players will feel engaged. I think you will see more difficult achievements look at what we’ve gotten since August with Liadri, Tequatl, SAB, the tower, and now the current patch.

If all awards we like this then the OP might have a point. However, only some awards have this characteristic. Variety is good. There should be awards for all methods, even those involving teamwork.

I think people who get their majority of AP by temporary achievements do not deserve their leaderboard position (myself included ofc), so I want Anet to move away from the huge emphasis on temporary achievements.
Either make all permanent achievements give at least 10x as many points or limit daily/monthly. Its just plain silly that doing all dailies for 2 days gives more points than building 5 legendaries for example.

I strongly disagree with you. I think the emphasis on daily awards is a good idea as it promotes daily play. Your example is not silly to me because building the legendaries involve many activities that earn achievement points. By only focusing at the capstone award, you’re neglecting all the other awards earned in the process of making the legendaries.

Lol no, it already takes 4-6 hours to do all dailies. That would make the daily/monthly to permanent AP ratio even more horrible

It’s not about doing all the dailies, it’s about variety of choice.

Let’s make sure I understand this. For many years Ventari tended to the tree and recited teachings to the tree.

How is this any different from a ritual? There is no difference, it is a ritual and it’s quite a powerful ritual at that. Consider the many differences between the Pale Trees sylvarii and Malyck. These differences are due entirely to Ventari’s and Ronan’s rituals.

Teaching around the tree. Not to.

And it’s not a ritual in a fantasy setting sense where magic is involved, because there is no magic involved here. But the only thing known to free a dragon minion from its Elder Dragon’s control is a magical ritual. There is a very fine difference

It is a ritual in the definition of a repeated action. It is not a ritual in the sense of a magical act.

And I am in no way arguing that there’s no difference between the Pale Tree’s sylvari and Malyck, nor am I in no way arguing that such difference is not due to Ventari and Ronan’s actions.

What I am arguing against is the claim of the Pale Tree being the same entity as Mordremoth – or being a champion of Mordremoth.

Please, do not change the argument. Because now you’re saying I was arguing against something which is pretty kitten obvious and in no way a theory – and in no way what I was arguing against.

No one would argue that Svanir is the same entity as Jormag, why would I argue that the pale tree is the same entity as Mordremoth? Where have I argue that the pale tree is the same entity as Mordremoth?

Why was the Pale Tree seed guarded? Obviously someone or something didn’t want them discovered too early. Why?

The speculation is valid and doesn’t need your approval.

How does a book you read hold effect over you? How does your teachers in classes hold effects over you?

The Pale Tree was sentient all her life, she lived for decades listening to Ventari preach his teachings, listening to him, learning from him. Ventari himself taught her – unknowingly – the same way a teacher teaches a student at school. When he died, he made the tablet with the main points of his teachings and like a faithful student, she took his teachings and protected them. And when she made the sylvari, she spread those teachings – via the Tablet – to her children like a mother teaching her baby.

There’s no need for magic. It’s no different than how we ourselves learn. The only magic involved is that which makes the Pale Tree sentient.

So your parents reading you bedtime stories is a ritual too?

Ventari didn’t just read bedtime stories. He tended the tree and taught the plant for many years. Your comparison of Ventari’s actions to parents reading bedtime stories to children is a weak analogy.

It was outright stated – in the same articles that compared them to footsteps – that it was an unintended side-effect. After all, I don’t think the intention of footsteps is to drive worms to the top. :P

The Pale Tree is a tree that was planted between 1072 and 1078 AE. The Elder Dragons were all around in 10,000 BE. It is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for the Pale Tree to be Mordremoth. And no, there is in fact zero evidence to support to claim that the Pale Tree is a champion of Mordremoth – fallen or not. There is evidence to support the Nightmare being tied to Mordremoth though, but not the Pale Tree. The best you can argue is by extension of the Nightmare (and thus Nightmare Court) possibly being tied to Mordremoth. But the Nightmare Court are also anti-Elde Dragon, so they most likely wouldn’t know of any influence if such exists. And it is also physically impossible for the Pale Tree to be a “fallen” champion because no purifying magic – something that is incredibly rare – was used on her in her upbringing. People often say “the Ventari Tablets did it just like Glint was broke from Kralkatorrik!” but these people forget two very important facts: 1) The tablet is not magical. It’s just a tablet. 2) Glint did not break free on her own accord, she was forced to undergo a ritual by the Forgotten, the ritual having been lost until after Zhaitan’s death. So no, it just isn’t possible for the Pale Tree to be tied to Mordremoth. And if ArenaNet alters their lore to make it so then they did an asspull just to satisfy players who want to play the bad guy (something they initially said they wouldn’t ever do).

Please tell me how the tablets had any affect on the pale tree if no magic is involved.

The metronome alludes to a secret under the ground. Primordius is hardly a secret. There’s an entire race of dwarves underground fighting him. Destroyers are common in Kessex Hills and other locations.

The speculation that the grove is a converted dragon champion like Glint is interesting though.

Sounds like they will add goblin as a playable race this year (if the invention doesnt explode it doesnt work)

later on they will add a 6th member to the team it will be a bard and his name will be Rick Ashley or Justin Bieber he will go to the lair of primordius and start singing never gunna give you up effectively doing 100000000000000 sonic damage effectively killing primordius and terminating all life in the 100000000000 kilometer of Tyria as we know it.

Anet will not add a “goblin” race. WoW already has one, Anet will avoid it. Anet may however add a race similar to goblins, but it will not be called goblin. There is a reason why GW2 doesn’t have elves or dwarves or gnomes. Well, they kind of have dwarves, but not much.

I’m glad they chose copper, silver and gold nodes. Most useless ones in the game.

Then you’re a poor investor. Think about it: jeweler is going to be level 500 soon and these precious metal nodes aren’t really that common.

In the CDI threads there’s been a dialogue regarding rarity/supply of mats during the increases to 500. To avoid the issues we’re having with linen and silk the devs have taken the feedback they were given and are implementing an item to alleviate the some stress that would come from finding these nodes and farming them to craft jeweler to the max levels. Additionally, this fresh and readily available supply will prevent these mats from inflating to the levels we’ve seen with the cloth mats. They didn’t just choose these nodes all willy nilly as they have a purpose in the very near future.

I just hope this doesn’t devalue the existing mats too much considering I’ve already bought a fair supply of silver, gold, and platinum ores and ingots in anticipation of making a huge turn around. I hope this item doesn’t turn me into a poor investor!

Nope, Jeweler isn’t going to 500 any time soon. I’m not aware of any plans that have been stated by Anet that include jewelry going to 500. If you know otherwise please provide a link.

I really like this one, I made with 4 toons, it is only hard the 1st time, after you get exactly what you need to do then it gets much more enjoyable.

The worst heart imo, is the one where you need to get insects in a jar then feed the bulls under a timer, it is tedious and if you pick the smallest timer it turns to be incredible hard.

Outside the fence you can throw water on a couple cows and do emotes to a few others. This makes the heart really easy.

My problem with Primordius being involved is the poem’s reference to a secret. Primordius isn’t exactly a secret. The dwarves have been fighting him for 250 years. The tengu fight him in Kessex Hills. The Asura have known of him for 250 years as have the Norn. How is his existance a secret? So the secret Scarlet is referring to is not Primordius.

This shows that both devices to be sent out deal with time. (both could bossibly have some relation to the clockheart, the boss at the end of TA twilight assault path)

Both of these involve fire, first kryta’s flames now the world is on fire.

The second article says “there’s a secret deep below to find”, also in the first article “Your world is built on fog and sand” (possibly talking about the mists) and if the world is built on something it must be below it possibly the secret is hidden in the mists…

THE RETURN OF ABBADON!? He “died” but when others die they go to the mist, so why wouldn’t a fallen god go back to the mist? Scarlet is trying to call back Abbadon to reclaim his power because Scarlet believes that the god that the other gods couldn’t defeat combined can help the world fight against the Elder Dragons!?

I know I’m wrong, but I just had to have my fun. I would be very happy if Abbadon returned lol.

If Scarlet is trying to harness Abbadon’s power, then she is wasting her time. Kormir already has it. Scarlet needs to get the Kormir’s powers.

Summary:
Mysterious probes that are supposed to /find/ something
The fused Molten Alliance Tech and Azurite
Aetherblades Tech
Toxic Spores and the hallucinations they cause
Knowledge how to create Sylvari-kittenizations / “The Toxic hybrid”
The Leylines
“Islands” she was sighted at
Scarlet showing an interest in the Mists
“What Scarlet saw”
An incoming assault on LA
Scarlet’s disdain of predetermined destiny and the Dream and Pale Tree as whole
Caithe’s secret
_____________________

And now another poem on a metronome.
Metronomes usually represent a beat or pulse.
Probably the thumpers, no doubt.

Wipe all resistance from your mind
There’s a secret deep below to find
If you’d only seen the things I’ve seen
You’d wake up screaming from The Dream

Personally I have the feeling this part as whole addresses the Sylvari. The secret being “what she saw”. “Wipe all resistance from your mind” towards her ideology and the “truth” and “grand design”.

This next part will sting, but it brings me joy
Sometimes to change you must destroy.

Change the Sylvari…?

Also, while checking out the Asura gates in LA I realized something – the only one who fits the view of the destroyed one we have been shown is the Gate leading to the Grove.
The others don’t line up or have parts of LA in their view.

The Tyria will burn part is just her craziness and chaos shenanigans.

I think there is a strong possibility the Grove will be assaulted.

I recall the statements that there is no dragon involved in the Scarlet story, however I not sure what the exact statement was and I wonder if there may be some wiggle room for an unintended appearance of a dragon.

I would think that an event as large as what Anet is hinting at would get the attention of an elder dragon.

If you want likely Dragonchamps, think like Urgoz on steroids for Mordremoth (assumed name for the Jungle Dragon) or the Sylvari starter personal quest dragon.

The Great Destroyer, defeated exchamp of Primordus in GW1 also was dragonshaped, just like the Claw of Jormag and The Shatterer are shaped like dragons.

No, a sylvari becoming a champion doesn’t make sense. Neither being a minion, she is just way to narcissistic to follow anyone or anything.
