The problem with an ingame polling system is that it wouldn’t reach people like me who don’t log in any more. So you’ll never find out why they left.
You’ve got everyone’s email addresses – why not send out surveys to those, like CCP does?
If you knew in game polling was taking place, would you come back to give your opinion?
What’s the point of Timberline Ridge? There is nothing there. No reason to go there. Nothing that can only be found there. Why would anyone go there once they’ve fully explored it? It needs a reason for people to travel there. It’s not the only place that’s like this.
How much difference does it make to have a legendary if you play in low level content/areas? Doesn’t the level scaling negate the awesomeness? That’s a question I’ve seen in-game.
They still look cool and impress the kids in Queensdale.
So should those of us who didn’t know it was an exploit and bought ~50 of them be worried? I bought 50 on the tp when I saw the prices go down because I thought it would be a good economic decision since I figured the market would bounce back and I could make some money flipping them (which is perfectly legal). I didn’t know at the time that the price dip was because of a bug…. I’ve heard in the past they punished people for making money unintentionally off of a bug. It’s not like I was trying to profit from an exploit, I just thought it was a market flux.
They removed the post that was quoted above, did they say that those of us that bought them are going to be reprimanded since most of us had no clue?
I don’t think 50 will get you in trouble. 1000 might, but I doubt 50.
I don’t think they can ban you for buying them.. what I am worried about is that they could just disappear from inventory.
They cant do that either because there is no way for them to determine if somebody was aware that the low selling price was a result of an exploit or not.
I am more worried what this means to the wvw meta.
They can take a look at your buying pattern and reasonably decide if your taking advantage of an exploit or not. If they decide you have been exploiting, you can then be banned. Don’t fool yourself. If you are aware of the exploit, don’t buy them as you could very well be banned.
It’ll likely be given as an achievement chest reward (that seems to be the way they’ve settled as the “best” way to award stuff, its reliable and doesn’t miss people) and since achievement rewards are account-bound… yes, it’ll probably be one per account.
They only award achievement point skins that way. The dragon wings from Teq weren’t offered that way. I believe this will be another item that will sit in my bank.
I do wish they offered a “Skin Bank” like they do with the achievement point skins though.
The Teq wings were given away via an achievement chest. You completed the meta-achievement for Boss Week and got the wings for doing that from a chest that popped up above your map.
I wasn’t saying they’d be offered via the achievement window and selectable at any time like Zenith weapon skins. My bad if it sounded that way.
I misunderstood. Sorry.

I think the people who enjoy vertical progression, power creep, and massively outgearing people in WvW (approx 25% more dmg in full ascended, armor included) so they can stomp the new and inexperienced would be happier in a game like World of Warcraft. Go play that and stop ruining GW2. Thanks.
Actually someone did the math, and full ascended EVERYTHING, assuming perfect rotation, it was a 5.7% DPS increase for having ascended gear.
I wouldn’t call that ‘massively outgearing’.
Really? I saw different math. Weapons+trinkets already get you around 15% damage depending on profession and traits.
Go ask the people doing WvW with ascended. The damage increase is VERY noticeable.
He or she isn’t wrong, but is withholding information. Power+crit and raw DPS does not a game make.
https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/50070/Untitled.jpg
Even on berserker gear damage is only increased by 6%, however, the primary stat is increased by about 12% and the secondary stats by about 8%.
Currently, ascended weapons can be earned as loot drops. I see no reason why the same wouldn’t be true for ascended armor. The drama in this thread seems vastly premature.
You can’t be serious. These drops are in the thousands of a percent area, and are soulbound. You could do every boss that drops ascended weapons every day for several years and the odds are you still would not have one, and the odds are even lower of getting the one you want.
Yet complaints about ascended weapon drops have been with us since their first day of availability.
And rightly so. Sorry you are okay with rewards for the majority of the games content being worthless and contributing to imbalance in a PvP mode, but the rest of us are not. Don’t like it? Go find someplace else to contribute nothing.
Your the one with the problem, not me. But really, lying about availability isn’t cool. The fact is, they are available. You just have a problem with it.

Your statement about only being available by crafting is invalid.

I’d rather finish an epic quest-line where skill is actually required to get a piece of the armor-set, instead of grinding all day. Why doesn’t ANET want us to feel accomplishment for doing quests? No wonder I don’t feel connected to the game-world. No decent quests, no interesting lore, no immersion. It just boggles my mind. Seriously, it’s getting old.
Then why are you still here?
It’s obvious from this thread that the devs haven’t done so much as one thing that this forum has asked for.
I like Scarlet Briar.
There is a lore reason against it: gargoyles are presumed to be extinct.
But they aren’t extinct. I fought plenty of them last year.
Wow, so may people here just don’t get it.
First you have to decide what you want to do. If you can’t decide what you want to do, the game uses rewards as suggestions. Having too much to do is a good problem to have.
It reminds me of the Phantoms mask in Phantom of the Opera.
Tequatl rising is part of the living story, whether you consider it to be or not. Why do you try to deny facts? It seems kind of silly to me.
I like the living story. I like the constant change. It’s nice to know that if something I don’t like is added then in 2 weeks, there will be something else. It’s not the same thing over and over and over. It’s not stale, it’s not static. Every two weeks is something new. I like it.
Wow you people are brainwashed into thinking getting rewarded is “fun”. It’s not. The rewards are entirely worthless virtual pixels. You play games to experience the game and have fun. That’s what games are for. Ultimately you will leave the game and all these rewards become worthless. The only thing valuable you get out of it is the experience itself. Sure it’s nice to be rewarded since it contributes to the game experience, but now it feels like people are demanding rewards to be handed to them on a silver platter for the most superficial things.
This is exactly what gambling addicts are like, they are addicted to the promise of getting rewarded, even though the reward ends up being worthless compared to the time/money invested into it.
Don’t fall into this trap, play the game for the sake of the game, not for the “rewards”, otherwise you’ll find yourself disappointed with the hollow experience and wondering why you bothered in the first place.
Actually, getting rewarded is fun. Why do think slot machines are so popular? It’s the dopamine.
I thought people went into dungeons because they were challenging and fun.
Well bless your heart.
And there are always TV critics to get in the way of something or another.
And all the lame ones seem to congregate here.
100% agreeance.
ArenaNet, PLEASE listen to your loyal fans. The “Living Story” isn’t disliked only by a vocal minority, but rather the vast majority of your playerbase. Please start making permanent content patches or working on an expansion before it’s too late. We really want to play your game, but you’re pushing us away.
Please show us the data that proves without a doubt that the majority of players dislikes the living story. I bet you don’t have it. If you don’t have it, then you are a fraud. I need hard facts, no some whiney claim derived from teenaged angst.
What’s the point in getting excited about fun possibilities when it’ll be yet another letdown?..
I can’t for the life of me, figure out why you’re still here? As disappointing as you say this game is, I would think you had something better to do. The fact that you continue to disapoint yourself on a daily basis leads me to believe that you really have nothing else to do.
Seriously?
According to Anet’s metric and money, yes, to them.
But if you look at their quarterly sales report, it isn’t looking good as time moves on. They have to do something. They can’t keep losing 30% in sales every quarter.
GW2 is a year old, it’s not unusual for software to decrease in sales in that amount of time. Perhaps you should have listened to the conference call where they talked about revenue from the cash shop. I suspect you did, but try to ignore it because it doesn’t support your world view.
As an active trader, I hope this never happens. It would totally kill the market for the ingredients that are needed to make certain nourishments.
Why don’t you ask for your money back because Anet is cheating you out of Sylvari hairstyles.
Sooo you flatout lied to us when you said youd be giving us new permanent content in the form of an additional dungeon path. This is replacement content. Not what we wanted, go back to the drawing board. TAFU merely needed the boss to be reverted to the way he was to be one of the more played paths again, no need to delete it =/ Myself and other players still ran this path for some extra challenge.. This is not what you have been promising us, at all.
I was really looking forward to this patch, now im debating wether to log on for it at all -.-
Aren’t you going to look stupid if we get a new dungeon path in a month?
Just as WoW has novels written about the settings, GW2 has short stories. The existence of these short stories are not indicators of bad story telling.
GW1 and real lore > dragons > living story
If you want GW1 lore, then play GW1. This isn’t GW1, it’s GW2 in case you hadn’t heard.
This is good backstory. It’s not essential to the game and most people would just skip through it, because it would get tedious. I think your judgement is rediculous when you consider the update hasn’t been released. It’s like your trying hard to prove how cool you are by being the first to whine. Guess what, whiners are never cool.
I currently salvage my exotics. This because I am currently trying to craft ascended and need the mats that are only found in the exotics.
The Mad King didn’t go Unabomber on me.
The last 3 living world patch,s have been nothing but frustrating , i would have sooner The devs made the existing content much better . Also a totally new Zone with permanent content like crystal desert or cantha i think would have been so much better. I think . Im sorry and this is just my personal opinion and im sure some people like the living world content but i find it really shallow …
yes yes yes yes yse yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes…. unfortunately anet will say no. So to elder scrolls I must go.
Personally, I can’t stand monthly fees. Good luck to you.
I believe the living story should continue.
How long do you think it should take to fight all the dragons? After we defeat the dragons, what then?
Well, Cantha and Elona would provide a couple of years each, with the unknown continent also unexplored. There’s a good ten years from just dragons and that alone if they chose that path. I wouldn’t want to slay the dragons within 5 years mind, I just want to see them really starting to have some impact.
p.s..the puff the magic dragon song Elb posted – genius
Cantha and Elona are not dragons. SO, if we stretch the 5 remaining dragons out 10 years as you suggest, then it’s 2 years until the next dragon. Anet seems to be on pace according to your suggestions.
Short answer, no there isn’t anyone who likes Living story as it is now, though the concept of a living world is nice in itself, had it been developed in a good way.
What does it feel like to be so incredibly wrong? Do you use a random word generator to write with? Climbing usage indicates that people do in fact, like the living story.
I’ll ask you the same question. What does it feel like to be so incredibly wrong? (because you are)
I’ve seen or heard very few people who actually wholeheartedly enjoyed the LS content for what it was meant to be. The most enjoyment I’ve seen people post about is the fact that they were able to farm some decent gold during the “lolzergfest” LS events. And that’s not even really enjoyment….that’s just performing a mindless task to increase one’s wealth and nothing more.
The fact is (whether Anet fanbois want to admit it or not) that the whole LS idea so far has fallen pretty flat on its face. It’s so disjointed, buggy, and downright boring at times that to call it anything remotely close to fun or a success is lying through one’s teeth. I dunno…maybe there are some delusional people out there who have found some form of actual “fun” in these kittenty updates, but they are few and far between.
And the increased activity during LS updates? People log on to farm kitten and then log off. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the LS “lore” or “content” or w/e you want to call it. It has EVERYTHING to do with people grinding gold to pay for the kittenty legendary system that Anet has put into place or that 0.00000001% chance of getting a new item to drop. To think otherwise only shows one’s stupidity and blindness.
Your trivial anecdotes are no match for actual data. You just wrote a large post describing how clueless you are.
Considering how much activity in GW2 has increased lately, I’d say that is good evidence to support the hypothesis that a lot of people like the living story.
Actually, I’d wager that the increased activity have more to do with the Tequatl revamp and SAB. I don’t hear much about people getting all fired up to do the next chapter of the LS.
And, yes, I understand that both of those features are “part of the Living Story.” But they would be well attended whether they were or not, so that’s a moot point.
You don’t understand that SAB and Teq are part of the living story do you. How can you be that clueless?
You also forgot champ drops.

This game practically rains Bloodstone dust. I don’t know why people get worried about storing it.

Dwayna a Lyssa sound like Mary Sues to me. Anet should get rid of them.
Quit living in the past.
I am a Scarlet Fan…
But I completely agree with OP, she doesn’t belong in fractals.
Fractals is for lore, and to bring new players up to speed with what happened in GW1.
So then you’re totally against any fractal that would involve the Thaumanova Reactor simply because it has nothing to do with GW1?
Your post makes me laugh because of the possibility that you think the Thaumanova Reactor is GW1 lore.
Dailies don’t hurt casuals. Dailies give casuals more time before the pros get everything. I know people that even with time gating, got an ascended weapon in like five days. That’s without buying stuff from the market place. Without that time gating they’d have gotten it on day one.
Time gating makes it fairer for casuals, not less fair.
Otherwise some people would have thousands of laurels by now, and casuals would have far less.
And then you can’t play for w/e reason for a couple days? Then what? You’re behind and there’s no way to make up for that lost progress.
Right by not playing for a couple of days, you miss two laurels. But in those two days other players that had time could be ahead dozens of laurels. Being only two laurels behind isn’t worse than the alternative, is it?
Um, I’m starting to think you haven’t read my post. I never said to remove dailies, that was not the “alternative” I posted.
While your alternative does not eliminate dailies, it does eliminate the reason for them. Which effectively eliminates the dailies.
Forget elder dragons. I want to get inside Wizard’s Tower.
No one gets in my tower without a key.
Nice try. Give us proof that you are Isgarren.
Who says Isgarren is even real and that its not just a false name I created to mask my sinister plans?
Never mind this fool, he’s just my butler.
He better shut up before I turn him into an elemental.
Of course, the Devs were more than willing to reply to this thread when players were praising the upgrade for expanding lore, but when I point out a fatal flaw, they don’t even address it, not to mention attempt to patch it up. Just going to let your mistake fade into the internet? Pussshhh, us players will forget in no time… I’m not so forgiving. You promised quality content, please deliver.
At least inform us of the proper timeline, and I’ll overlook the paradox you created.
Dev’s should be required to respond to every request Mia has!
