There is an event where 3 vents spring up near the fort with the crafting stations. The event is completed once all three vents are plugged.
I agree that Anet could do a better job of communicating the story better to the players. The coordinator was useless, and the collector refugess didn’t help at all either. However, I did notice the stars on the map. It’s just that when I got to the locations, the NPC were of no help in furthering the story.
I really hope the event is broken, if this is how it’s supposed to be someone needs to be fired.
Also, if it is broken, it’s proof they need a public test realm.
What’s broken about it?
No. Heck No! Kittens No!
No.
I thought it was nice motivation to get me to practice my dodge. To be honest, I needed it.
I am so confused as to what to do here. I went to wayfarer and I went to every star, lit every campfire, and picked up items off the fallen refuges to turn in. Sooooo.. is that it? Am I missing something to do with this because I did not feel like I accomplished anything.
Yes you are missing stuff. There are sign posts, start by the entrance to Diessa Plateau, fix the signs and follow them to each next sign. Along the way, you will find fallen refugees, go to them and take the momentos. Give these momentos to collectors at the camps. You may also find wounded refugees, assist them. Finally, there are new DEs, participate in them.
boo no stars there.. guess it is bugged on my server. Oh well time to check out guesting I suppose.
You didn’t see any vandalized sign posts? They were easy to spot on my server, simply follow the herd of players.
Another “World changing event” patch, another horrendous blunder for Arenanet. Get on the lifeboats, folks, the ship is sinking fast!
I disagree, I think it’s a nice addition to the game. Maybe you should consider playing a different game.

You get the mail after you finish the new achievement and change zones.
I aquired 40 points to the title and have since been in the foothills, the plateau, and Hoelbrak.
No mail, no herald.
thats a good question. And shouldn’t there be herolds somewhere?
I believe the heralds are in all the major cities. Haven’t seen one yet myself though.
Theres a herald in the Hoelbrak.
I have not found the Herald in Hoelbrak. Where is the Herald?
The system described by the Op didn’t exist as of 7:00 PM PST last night. It took me the same amount of time to do my dailies yesterday that it always has, about 1 – 1.5 hours.
A’ha. Soldier’s Spineguard: http://www.gw2db.com/items/72046-soldiers-spineguard
That’d be the one I wanted.
I think that spineguard is available at all temples. At least I saw it at Balthazar’s.
Sanctum of Rall just opened
Can’t seem to get this to move, it’s been stuck at 20% for the past 45 mins now in Orr. I even dodged some ranged attacks from those slimes and still nothing. What gives? Take this one out please and return the “kill underwater mobs” daily. Thanks.
Every time the word evaded appeared, I was given credit. You don’t get credit just for performing a dodge, you have to actually dodge an attack.
Christ what were they thinking? Forcing us to group up for dailies? Worst. Change. Ever. Seriously, dailies was fine as it is, now its going to be a chore, I already hate it.
Why did you have to group up for today’s daily achievement? I didn’t have to. I had gathering, dodging, kill variety, healing and events. None of which required grouping up. Stop spreading misinformation.
I have to laugh. All the complaints about GW2 being a solo game and now all the complaints about having to work with others. Anet just can’t win.
I stopped shopping a while ago. The stores were either empty or everyone was zerging for sales. Then they started introducing new items to the store and I knew they were just trying to get more money from me and I thought “How greedy of them”.
Then the started accepting coupons and the grind to find them was just too much. Don’t get me started on those little cards with the bar codes they hand out. They are just another example of how unfriendly they are to casual shoppers and constantly force us to chase tier progression.
Last night I was in the Diessa Plateau when I came across the giant. I saw no one around and thought to myself , “Let’s see what happens”. Before long I was joined by another player, then another and another and another. Eventually, by the time the giant was killed there was literraly a swarm of players around.
This type of experience is not unusual for me in most areas. There are lots of folks out and about, you just don’t see them because the areas are so large. Make no mistake, there are lots of people out there.
It’s my opinion that the game is not dead.
I feel GW2 has been a good value for me the last 5 months. When they release a new expansion, Anet has earned my purchase.
Your claims to not make your hate personal are lies. Your post has already made your hatred for her personal.
Wow, do you even think before you write? Everything I’ve said about her has to do with her professional “accomplishments” and nothing more. How about you wipe the tears from your eyes, put the white knight armor in a corner and take a breather for a while?
What a hateful post you’ve written. Oh my, dyes are no longer account wide, the whole game is ruined. Wah! Now you’ve decided to blame here for stuff beyond the gem store. I recommend that you work on a large software project sometime, and then you’ll learn why there’s no way she couldn’t have the power you claim she has.
I love when people write such vague posts in the hopes of trying to look more knowledgeable about something than they are, while simultaneously trying to make the person they are replying to look less knowledgeable than they may be.
“Planes don’t fly backwards”
“I recommend you fly a plane sometime and you’ll see why that’s wrong.”Even though the answer is obvious, everyone stops and goes “Oh man, this guy must be a pilot and have all this amazing knowledge that I don’t! He must be right!” without him actually ever saying any of that.
Nice spin, there.
Hey why not hate everyone that disagrees with you. Hmmm. I don’t see what planes have to do with anything. But the Easter Bunny says cars go Vroom. Don’t let your hate keep you up at night, and watch your blood pressure because strokes are nasty business.
Pirate hat covers everything.
Wow, she’s as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside.
If you said this about one of my employees or coworkers, I would have you banned for life. I would also look into filing charges of harassment and sexual discrimination against you. Your post is despicable.
Wow, she’s as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside.
I hate everything she’s done to the game, and probably wouldn’t go out of my way to talk to her if given the opportunity… but this is going a bit far. At the end of the day, she was doing the job assigned to her in the way she was taught to. There are people out there whose job is the play the “villain”. Money is to be made, after all.
I despise her as a professional, but I see no reason to make it personal. Taking it personally like that can get folks hurt- especially folks in her situation where everyone knows her name and face.
She’s not the lead developer. She’s not the project Manager. She didn’t destroy the game. The immature “Let’s Hate Crystin” posts are really dumb and boring.
And yet spot on. It’s not exactly difficult to miss that since Arenanet made available their vision of GW2, which was NOT what this game has turned into. They were excited about it, with every interview looking as if they were talking about their dream game. Then, suddenly, IMMEDIATELY after an ex-Nexon employee gets hired as the Monetization producer, things start to change.
First, small things- dye gets changed from account bound to character bound, despite how big of a deal they made about it definitely being account so that you wouldn’t have to grind/buy tons of it. Then, bigger things started to change- a new armor tier appeared and people are grind grinding for that next +1 to their stats.
Kinda hard to miss the obvious when it is screaming in your face.

But if you’re casual… The timeline stretches out to a good 1~2 years.
For casuals, if they even care about getting a legendary, that’s a fine timeline. You’re confusing hardcore goals and motivations with casual goals and motivations. That’s a mistake because casuals and hardcores have totally different sets of motivations.
The problem with countering the term “Grind” is that the definition seems to be a moving target. I’ve seen people define the word grind as having to do something twice. Armed with that definition, everything is a grind.

Here is Anet’s wallpaper.
Gratz Crystin on destroying Guild Wars. What’s next? Give me advance warning of games not to touch!

The leggings look like the Pinion leggings in Lornars Pass.
A dervish spin off? I guess I could give it a whirl.
Last night I ran into a krait who was apparently the spawn of one of the giants of Skyrim. In the Straits of Desolation I was trying to reach the vista that comes out of the water and is surrounded by krait. Unfortunately, I was attacked by a krait as I was jumping up to the platform. Suddenly I find myself launched impossibly high in the air only to come crashing down for a ton of damage and dieing. I got a good laugh out of it.
The products being virtual may factor into it, but that’s not the only factor. In gambling (e.g., raffles, lotteries, slot machines), playing costs money, and in most cases you get nothing. BL Keys open boxes, which are advertised to contain virtual items. They do. Thus, the buyer of the keys is always getting something for his money, although it may not always be something s/he wants. This is more like collectible card booster packs, which are not considered to be gambling. The same is true with regard to the mystic toilet, except you are not putting in money, just more virtual items.
It’s not considered gambling. It’s not regulated anywhere. I get paid to know this stuff.
From the Nevada Gaming commisions’s definition of gambling:
NRS 463.0152 “Game” and “gambling game” defined. “Game” or “gambling game” means any game played with cards, dice, equipment or any mechanical, electromechanical or electronic device or machine for money, property, checks, credit or any representative of value, …
The contents of BLTC boxes are not representatives of value. If they were, then it would not be legal to play GW2 in the US. Stop the sillyness in trying to twist the definition of gambling.

Why is getting loot fun?
So that’s enough. Either fix RNG, or give people an opportunity to view the odds of winning when they gamble like any other law abiding online casino.
OK, I don’t know enough about online casinos, but I do know quite a bit about the brick and mortar versions. GW2 is not gambling. I see a lot of posters on various forums trying to compare it to gambling, but it isn’t gambling. Also, brick and mortar casinos never post the odds of slot machines winning ( except in British Columbia) so there’s no way Anet would ever do it. Also, even if they did it wouldn’t matter to most people, because most people (I estimate about 99%) just don’t understand how math and gambling work. Because players are only receiving virtual products, the random purchases you make is not considered gambling.
I got one of these things in one of the gifts that I received in my email. What is it’s purpose?
I don’t understand why gamers feel that developers are their slaves and should be in constant contact with them. I see this a lot lately and not just with this game. So many times, players get on the forums and complain about how the developers don’t spend enough time on the forums responding to every little complaint. Really, it’s getting rediculus. Developers have better things to do than respond to all your complaints, like working on fixes. I have to think that developers wish they could give some players their money back just to make them go away.
ever heard of sampling? or electoral college?
(this is in support of the OP)
Scientific samples are chosen randomly to represent the entire test group. Forum posting is not. Forum posters only represent forum posters. Any corelation to the total population is merely coincidental.
Let’s see, GW1 lasted 7 years as B2P. with that being the precedent, I think GW2 is safe for at least a year as B2P. I don’t understand how people can think this game is dead already.
I don’t get the whol empty PvE zone complaint. Maybe I’m just lucky, but it seems that most of the time when I’m doing something, there’s 2-3 other players in the area. Not all DEs are supposed to be successful all the time. If you never lose, you don’t enjoy the wins as often. Sometimes, I’m alone but not often. I hear the starter areas are particularly desolate, but recently I’ve spent a lot of time in the Plains of Ashford, and there were a lot of people there.
Frankly, I’m glad the population has thinned out a bit. At first it was too hard to do much with DE’s now when I complete a DE, I feel more like I’ve accomplished something.
I heard sylvari are rolled up and smoked by zhaitan and his minions, instead of turning them into undead.
My Charr friends tell me that Sylvari are great for smoking ribs.
The asura have offered to experiment on the sylvari and determine why they appear immune to corruption, but so far no one has volunteered.
I didn’t realize that the Asura needed volunteers. I thought they only needed test subjects.
Since when is 14.7% voting power? Does anyone have a link to a qualified source that states that 14.7 is the largest voting block?
Casuals don’t care much about the monthly achievements. If you’re overly concerned with the monthly achievements, chances are, your not casual.
Yes, but here is one thing that I would like to point out. There is at least 1 more pale tree that has, that we know of, no contact with humanity. Interstingly enough, though, the Sylvari from this tree have the same form as the sylvari from the most well known Pale Tree.
In other words, if Ronan hadn’t accidentally found the seeds, the existance of Sylvari might not be known. I’m going to stay with my position that this is not the first generation of Sylvari.
The seeds to create two sylvari producing trees came from somewhere. The fact that there is at lease one other tree producing sylvari is pretty solid evidence that the current generation is not the first.
I think the dragons will use up much of the magic in the world and begin hibernation only to awaken in the future when magic levels have increased to a certain level. I think the pale tree is also linked to this phenomenom. Once the magic level is lowered to a certain point, the dragons will hibernate and the pale tree will wither and die. The remaining silvarii will become seeds for the next generation of pale trees. Most seeds will be lost, a few will survive until the trees are needed again.
If you dried them and smoke them in a bowl, would it be a good buzz?
Cows eat grass, do Sylvari eat cows?
(edited by DarcShriek.5829)
You can’t please everyone.
I think you misunderstand the point bluejay. The point is simply individual Sylvari can’t reproduce, only the trees can.
I wonder if dried Sylvari would be good in a smoker. What would Sylvari pollen tea taste like? Maybe they can be smoked like tobacco.
I’m of the opinion that Sylvari don’t have blood as you or I would know it. I believe that being plants, they have some type of chlorophyll for photosynthesis. I think their insides would be more like a tree or a stalk.
@zeefa
Sylvaria are go at imitating, but there is no evidence that they are any more self aware than the tree that just fell over on my roof last night.
@Ramei
You’re incorrect about what cannabalism is.
Also, Sylvari are not sentient, they merely imitate sentience. In actuallity, they are about as self aware as a pine cone. For crying out loud, they fell off a tree! How gullible do you have to be to believe they are sentient?
@Mexay
I understand that the current pale tree has only been around for 250 years. What I don’t understand is what created the seed that created the pale tree. It’s my opinion that Tyria has seen Sylvari in the past.
