Buying and selling is a negotiation, and I’m suggesting we step our game up and push back on what they’re trying to feed us. Alternatively, enough negative PR could always have the effect on them determining it’s not cost effective.
enough negative PR would only shut down the game. And what would that achieve?
If you don’t want something, don’t buy it. I’m sure plenty of other people will. Other than that you deserve nothing except for the base content that was there when you bought the game and you are not entitled to anything.I feel like you’re being disingenuous, but I’m not sure.
“Entitlement” or “I deserve” are alternative ways of framing expectations, and expectations in turn drive demand. If we collectively believe we deserve gem store updates that don’t solve artificial problems, chances are good we’ll see “better” gem store content.
Companies make market reactions to PR literally every day, this doesn’t require them to shut down — what in the world are you talking about, mind the hyperbole.
After reading your posts, I find it laughable that you would urge others to mind the hyperbole.

Yes.
As it stands, the evidence points to ArenaNet deliberately leaving NPCs out of the “replacement” Lions Arch facility. If your scenario were to occur, then you could attribute their decision to oversight or a desire to get individuals to use the other main city instances.
So then your complaint is the fact that you can go around minor inconvenience that would still have been caused by buying a pass used to keep a game that has no subscription fee alive?
It’s not a complaint so much as an observation, but ArenaNet willfully INTRODUCED a minor inconvenience and IMMEDIATELY offered a paid remedy to said inconvenience. This is shady business practices 101, inevitably some users are going to pay for it.
I am all about paid gem store purchases, but not when they solve an artificial problem.
Your opinion is toxic and will only hurt you/ the player base in the long run.
It’s not shady. It would be shady if you were forced to buy it. You’re not forced. I have 3 two week passes and have yet to use one. It’s easier to defend Anet’s business practices on this issue, than it is to support your hyperbole.

yes, laugh at others peoples concerns, they do not deserve to have fun or be heard, their opinion is different from yours and thus invalid.
I mean really, it doesn’t bug you, great for you, have fun, others have other priorities and some seem to feel betrayed, when this happens to you in a future patch, do you want others to act as immature as you do here? With clientèle being insulted over the smallest of things it’s clear that developers should not develop an MMO. Because MMO is always changing. And every time when you change something you have such a negative percentage talking about being “betrayed”.
If I was in charge of developing an MMO, I would never allow my developers to read the forums attached to it. I would hire communtiy managers whose sole function is to filter the information. If I found anyone involved in the actual development of the project on the forum, I would consider it grounds for dismissal.

The op raises very good points, it is quite obviously a shameless cashgrab, their is nothing anyone can say to defend such actions by Arena Net.
It’s ANet’s game they can do what they want. Also, Anet is a business and the primary goal of a business is to make money. If you don’t like the idea of a business making money, feel free to move to Cuba or North Korea.
and your job as a consumer is too try to make the business give you an experience/item how you want it.
Point is capitialism is supposed to be limited by the consumers descions on what they are willing to accept. Capitalism henges on the idea that the consumer will in fact make demands, and limit the money making potential of business based around their own desires and greed as a customer.point is,
dont hate on the customer for saying what they want with their money, and what they want to give up money for. You can disagree that its important, but its stupid to say they arent a part of the process, everyone playing this game has given the company money, and a great money will give them more. They are currently a highly profitable asset, many people have given them money. Its far from socialism for the customer to demand things, its very capitalist
As a consumer, if there’s something I don’t want, I don’t buy it. It is not the consumer’s role to harangue a producer into producing what the consumer wants. It’s the consumer’s juob to buy the product that fits his/her needs at the best value. If you don’t like the pass, then simply don’t buy it. I have 3 2-week passes and have yet to use any simply because the product doesn’t interest me. You seem to want to convince me that because I’m not interested in the product, that I should harass Anet simply for making it.
Whatever happens in the next update, it will be about what is inside that hole the drill is working on.
Not 100% correct.
It will be about to go on the drill. There is an arena and plattforms where we probably will kill scarlet.
Then that wouldn’t be a very fitting ending to Season 1 that will ‘rock Tryria to its core’.
It depends on how far the drill goes doesn’kitten Maybe Scarlet will find Pelucidar and bring Metallica in for a concert.
Maybe Scarlet believes that disrupting the ley lines at this point will disrupt the dream and free her people.
This may also be exactly whatever is possessing her wants. While Scarlet believes she is freeing her people, she may in fact be sending them to their doom.

Law of Big Numbers when dealing with RNG should show a greater tendency toward actual odds. So 500 chests gives us a practical number of 14 tickets. That’s much lower than I inspected. The 1 in 5 for scraps is close to what I expected but the 1 in 125 for an actual ticket is much lower than I expected.
Your mistake is thinking that 500 is a large enough number. It’s not a large number. Ten thousand is a large number.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but there isn’t a Light/Medium/Heavy version of the backpiece right?
Just craft it with a character who is an armorsmith or leatherworker. Problem solved there. You don’t need to do it with a tailor.
What if tailoring is all I got? This event is time limited and it is way too late to start levelling up leatherwork now.
The event may be time limited, but the construction of the item isn’t. Make sure you have the gift of blades recipe and the blue prints before the event is over and you can make the back piece at your own pace.
Yesterday Sor had rich iron in the NE corner of Gendarren.
The Marionette likely wouldn’t be feasible due to the sheer number of people needed for a kill, unless they turn it into a special kind of guild mission that could be started up “as needed” and therefore could take steps to gather up enough participants beforehand.
But that said, I see no reason why all the “story instances” couldn’t be available for replay through a Historian NPC. This includes other soloable instances like when Braham recaptured Cragstead or the fight against the Toxic Hybrid.
I like the guild mission idea for the marionette battle. It would be cool if it was available as an instanced guild mission. However, people would complain about it being only available to large guilds.
Iron is pretty effective at the moment.

So far I’ve had two of the two week passes drop for me. If I wanted I could use them and wait this out. However, I don’t use the mystic forge at all so I moved my trader to Ebonhawk for the duration. I’m not sure what I’ll do with my passes.
I don’t mind the temporary lack of convenience. War is hell, and this is simulating that.
I’m curious why you think we need another thread to complain about the captain’s pass. Is it to satisfy your ego, or do you just like spam?

I received the achievement yesterday and I have no clue why.
Quaggan doesn’t want to be ridden!
Save a horse, ride a quaggan!
For those that still can’t figure it out, this game is not GW1, it never was GW1, it will never be GW1, and is not supposed to be GW1. If you want to play GW1, then please do so.
If I had wanted to play with other people, I would have joined an MMO!

Nothing about LS is worth this kind of lore and continuity loss.
I couldn’t disagree more.
Can anyone tell my why a level 10 character would want to hang out at Fort Trinity? There is no way this place could ever be a hub, because new players could only get there through portals. This would be a bad idea if the developers did this.

I can’t understand why the Krait remain. The rest of the groups I can understand as they still can get what they came for. However, the Krait are different to me.
The Krait came with the understanding that Scarlet would bring them a prophet, a task at which she failed. It seems to me, they would turn on her at this point.
My assumption is that he is sleeping beneath the Pale Tree and that the Pale Tree is actually keeping him in its dormant state to prevent his actual rise.
And what suggests that Pale Tree is aboive Elder Dragon? Dude, that makes no sense. Do you even know how the seed of the Pale Tree was moved to the place where the Grove is now?
Elder Dragon is certainly not underneath the Pale Tree.
Though Pale Tree might be preventing Mordemorth from awaking, and using magic currents to do so. With that massive magic current she does not transfer to her Dragon, as a champion, she spends on creating Sylvari. Scarlet wishes to cut her off from the ley line that transfers the magic to the Pale Tree. Thus, making it unable to maintain The Dream of Dreams, creating new Sylvari and possibly weakening her overall. With that in mind, she can attack the tree or make it die slowly by just actions I mentioned. Redirected magic currents go straight towards Mordemorth, thus awakening him.Makes so much more sense now.
Actually, the dragon could be under the Pale Tree. Primordius gave off so much magic, that the Asura created their central transfer chamber near him. If Mordy is beneath the Pale Tree, the magic coming from him may explain why creatures of the dream exist in the area.
I believe it is the dream, not the Pale Tree, that Scarlet wants to destroy. If she kills the dragon, she kills the dream. Then her people can live free. I believe the dragon knows she wants to kill him, but doesn’t believe she can and has influenced her so that her efforts will instead advance his goals. Just as out attempts to defeat the ToN only played into Scarlet’s hand.

Is this another “I can not catch up in the meaningless leaderboard so please change the rules” post?
That’s exactly what this is.
Secret tip: try activities for karma.
That’s what I was thinking. Why wouldn’t Southsun Survival be a good way to farm karma?
Actually, we’re jumping to the Vigil’s hold.
After this adventure he will start a chain of budget hotels and be known as Hojo-Tron.
If there is a dragon beneath Lions Arch and the Tengu sit this out, I will be disappointed.
I expect to be disappointed.
With all due respect, the only reason not to carpet bomb a city is a for humanitarian reasons.
Or keeping objectives in tact. Buildings to house you forces. Resource caches to feed and supply your troops. Plunder to pay your mercenaries. Technology to aid you endeavor. And so on.
Technically, we’re moving away from carpet bombing due to technology allowing to target better. Why take out a whole town when we can safely and easily take out exactly the target we want?
That’s what doesn’t make sense to me. If her objective never was to kill him (which is supported if she was being controlled by him), what use could Mordremoth have for her? Surely the dragons don’t need help in being awoken, right? And I don’t think Mordremoth would have diabolical plans for the Queen’s Jubilee. Unless I’m missing something big, the only reason Mordremoth would have for controlling Scarlet is if something was suppressing him.
Maybe that something is the dream? What if he’s using Scarlet to eliminate the dream so he can wake up, and the Sylvari are a kind of byproduct of suppressing the dragon?
The short story leaves me with the impression that Scarlet is an individualist and doesn’t like being told what to do. I think part of her believes that her actions will result in freeing her and the other sylvari from their “oppression”.
A lottery would only work among trusted, well-known people.
In the GW2 community, there are not many trusted names out there other than Dulfy, WoodenPotatoes, Obal & MattVisual.
The latter 3 are strictly youtube, while the former would be a perfect candidate since she already has a fledged out website. The thing is, would Dulfy really be interested in dealing with weekly lottery? You have to manage all the mail and keep track of everything. It can be pretty tedious.
I’m thinking more along the lines of a Black Lion Lottery. Not a player run lottery.
Mmm well in that case, I could definitely get behind it. It could be a 50/50 draw where half of it acts as a gold sink.
50/50 is pretty harsh. Slots in NV aren’t allowed below 75%. Many jurisdictions don’t allow below 85%. Black Jack, Roulette, Craps and Baccarat all pay quite high. 70% will do well as a gold sink and not scare away too many players. 50/50 will just scare people away.

I would think that the krait would have gone home now that their tower has been destroyed. I wonder why they stick around after Scarlet failed to uphold her part of the deal.
It would be an interesting money sink if they ran a lottery like powerball. Set a price, make the jackpot payout dependent on the total tickets sold with lots of smaller prizes. Pay out about 70% of total sales.
No, the Captain’s Council is actually extremely clever. Why bother spending money investing in more defences when they know there are HORDES of powerful adventurers willing to defend their city for (essentially) free?
Promise me a some medals and I’ll move the world. An interesting idea for a story line would be to offer achievements to do the work of the story’s villian. It would be interesting to see what would happen. I suspect a villian could rule Tyria just by offering up a few cheap medals(achievement points).

If the target is Mordremoth, then obviously she wasn’t being controlled by Mordremoth. What is the Scarlet entity? What is using Caera to attack the Dragon? Could it be the Pale Tree, bluffing Caera with the threat, but really be the mastermind the entire time?
That would be an interesting twist – the Pale Tree maliciously using Scarlet’s knowledge through tricking her into thinking she was fighting against the Pale Tree, when in reality, Scarlet is the Tree’s puppet to tackle Mordremoth at any cost.
There may be duality issues going on here. Tere may be an internal struggle in Scarlet. One ide may want to kill the dragon, and the other side may wish to waken it. Either way, the Mordy could be the final destination.
Here’s some new speculation.
The Grove sits above Mordremoth, similar to how the Central Transfer Chamber was near Primordius. The dream comes from Mordremoth. When Scarlet cuts off the magic from the ley line beneath Lions Arch, it will interrupt the dream and waken Mordremorth.
(edited by DarcShriek.5829)
The impression I’ve always had from the story “What Scarlet Saw” is that she is not interested in destroying the Pale Tree. It’s the dream that Scarlet is looking to destroy.
It would be nice if the orders were a little more relevant to the player.
Scarlet is E. She’s the voice for the Origin of Madness trailer.
Nightmare =/= dragon I hope you realize this…
Just because she has mad drawings on paper doesn’t necessarily mean she drew on the actual walls of the cave,
But it’s in the same ink as her paper drawings, and she literally warned us about the danger of the dragons before. It’s quite clear that the dragons are at least on her mind, and that dragon is something she drew, or it would not be in a secret lair underneath the Priory.
You can’t just simply pretend that she didn’t paint the dragon, just because it’s inconvenient, when you do accept that everything else in her lair is hers.
I don’t believe the nightmare is from a dragon. I believe it exists as part of the dream and serves the same purpose. Of course, I could be wrong and the nightmare could be the result of corruption of the dream.
On an unrelated note, isn’t the purpose of the invasions simply to test our responses?
(edited by DarcShriek.5829)
On the surface, your idea seems to make sense. However, it could lead to balancing problems and make one order more powerful than the others. Of course, the easy way to prevent this is to make the order skill weaker than normal skills as they did with racial skills. If Anet does that though, no one would use the order skill and you might as well not even have it.
Why does everyone forget about Veteran Potential Mate?
Are Sylvari a possibility? Not because they are dragon minons, but because they seem to be a type of “immune” response to the dragons. I haven’t seen much in game to suggest that they are a cyclical race that awakens every time an elder dragon rises then dies off after their job is complete, but we do know that the Pale Tree seeds have existed for sometime prior to the dragon’s awakening. However, you’d think they’d get a much better mention in the historical record due to their immunity, if they existed during the prior awakening.
While not outside the realm of possibility, it does raise a few questions. Why is there no historical mention of them? Why is there no memory of this previous set of sylvari in the Dream? Where did they go, and what became of them there?
This is what has always bothered me about the sylvari and what I think is a strong point for the dragon minion speculation. There is just no historical mention of them. The seed that the pale tree grew from had to be left behind by something. Because the seeds were guarded, that would mean the seeds had value to someone or something. I would have to think that if the sylvari fought against the dragons, then tales of intelligent plant creatures would most likely exist. But there are none.
However, if the sylvari were dragon minions, then it is quite possible that there would be no mention of them in the historical records, as the historical records do not seem to discuss the details of the dragon minions. I think the lack of records from the past give some creedence to the dragon minion speculation.
You know that Scarlet is going to be gone in a month right? No more invasions and such? No more Scarlett’s lair. No more sprockets. Only from the pick. And the pick probably provides 0.1% of the current supply.
You are so wrong. I currently have 2 sources of sprockets, the pick and the resource node in my home instance.
Also, just because Scarlet is gone, doesn’t mean the sprockets will stop.
Conspiracy theories require more evidence and less conjecture.
Actually, you have that backwards. Conspiracy theories need less evidence and more conjecture.
Destiny Edge 2.0 (and all LS-related team) starts to remind me annoyingly politically correct action movies. I have nothing against all that groups in particular but it is just statistically improbable that we will have it all at once. Just stahp, I want realistic characters.
Thats why I also hope that Taimi die horribly. Cartoony baby-genius is even worse than Scarlet for me.
Having a disease is realistic… .
Also, it’s not like the fact that Taimi is a cripple isn’t there to show that doesn’t stop her to do what she wants, and not succumb to disabilities.
Nope, they added a cripple because they want a rainbow of political correctness. Guess they’re racist too, since Braham isn’t black.
/ sarcasm off
Now, who votes for Bro-ham being her new personal golem carrier?
nope. They have Braham and Rox for that inter-racial couple.
It looks to be right with the political correctness of current hot topics in the world.
Racial Issues – Rox/Braham inter-racial couple
Sexual Issues – Marjory/Kasmeer lesbian couple
Disabilities – Taimi with hersAnd what better way than to tie up Political Correctness than with……..
