It’s ok for me to kill countless mobs, but if I’m forced to watch two hot chicks kiss then my values have been sacrificed!
Hey Anet, if your gonna force me to sacrifice my values, could you at least make the chicks nekkid. Make it worth my while.
(edited by DarcShriek.5829)
It’s too bad we had to kill Zhaitan. A plants v. Zombie mini game might be kind of fun!
So maybe the asurans that captured Malomedies were acrotomophiliacs.
Apparently farmers that live near pale tree have a problem with their cucumbers always disapearing.
The moment Anet tries to make an outfit even moderately sexy the forums rage about it for a week.
Hot chicks in skimpy outfits, that’s what I want to see.
I can’t keep up – the whole story doesn’t even make sense to me anymore and I’m totally lost.
You’re not the only one. The story has been pretty poor imo. The biggest issue was they never explain anything. Why was she doing this? to awaken the dragon? to take control of the dragon, to team up with the dragon? to become his lieutenant? to drain the power from him? to awaken him to face her nightmares and destroy him herself?
Her motive could be anything and anet won’t tell us either. sigh. Now that scarlet is dead how are we supposed to find out? find some journal or diary of hers in the ruins of the drill?
Hmmm… I suspect you haven’t looked for the answers you want and just want them handed to you. The reason I say this is because the answer to the question “Why did Scarlet do this?” is explained quite clearly. You’ll see screen shots posted in this forum. I’ve seen two of them myself. So, before you continue to complain that Anet doesn’t provide the answers, I suggest you take a moment or two to actually look for them.
Looks like a wild charr wandered in our haven.
Begone, fluff-ball. Before we make a rug out of you.
You got problem with Charr twiggy?
I say kill all sylvari, starting with the pale tree herself! Hand them over to the charr to use as firewood at meatoberfest.
I’ll only come on board if we also take out Rata Sum.
It’s a deal!
I don’t think the LS held GW2 back. While I didn’t enjoy everything about it, I enjoyed most of it. It was nice to have new content to check out every couple of weeks. GW1 was nice, but it got stale real quick. Was the LS perfect? No. I would have liked to have seen more permanent content, and I haven’t been thrilled with the latest update. But when I come to the forum, I see a lot of talk about the lore, predictions for the future and what’s going on now. These are good signs and suggest there is a lot of life in GW2 at the moment. I look forward to the next season.
Don’t simplfy Sylvari, kill them. Kill them all. Sylvari are dangerous. Look what they did to Lions Arch. Start with the pale tree and hunt down the rest.
Sylvari can’t be druid descendants. Sylvari came from seeds. They were created by the previously unknown god Monsanto. Which of course means that if a pale tree grows in your yard, you will be sued for patent infringement.

Tomorrow the BLTC will sell bracelets inscribed with “WWED”.
I’ve seen ‘too much’ advice taken from the forums honestly. People complain about this and that so they change it or add it and then those people complain about the opposite. Anet is probably best off just sticking to their vision. They are the artists after all.
Pretty much. I blame that “The Knights Drop too Much Loot” thread nonsense for this entire mess. God forbid, players get good loot for doing the events. Now, instead, everyone gets frustrated and complains on the forums.
Win.
That thread was not the problem. The problem was that many of us were killing knights and getting no loot. That’s zip, zeo, nada loot. That’s why they made the changes. Didn’t you see all the threads that complained about no loot? In fact, we even complained in the thread that claimed there was too much loot. For the life of me, I don’t understand why you singled that thread out when there were at least a dozen that made the exact opposite claim.
Woohoo! Hot chicks making out!
Personally, I think a sticky of top theories is going to lead to a lot of overheated arguments and hurt feelings. After all, we all know that my theories are the most valid.
I say kill all sylvari, starting with the pale tree herself! Hand them over to the charr to use as firewood at meatoberfest.
Looks to me like Mordy changed the sylvari to plants!
Seriously though, all known minions of the jungle dragon have been plant based. With Scarlet already being a plant, what could she change in to?
Nope just the Sylvari. Besides, they’re not real living beings, just plants. Best fit for heating homes.
You’ve all seen what the sylvari did to Lion’s Arch. All sylvari should be hunted down and handed over to the charr to be used as firewood at meatoberfest. No sylvari can be trusted. The Pale Tree must be destroyed!
No sylvari should be allowed in the gates. It was the sylvari that tried to destroy Lion’s Arch. They should all be hunted down and handed over to the charr for use as fire wood at meatoberfest.

I don’t think SoR gets full teams on all three knights, but still manages to get to the holograms.
Did Malyck ever return to help fight Zaitan? There were many parts early in the story that came back in the later parts, but Malyck never did. It seems like he lied about the whole “gonna rally my people to fight the dragon” thing.
@Konig – what would you consider to be evidence that a sylvari is corrupted?

If Scarlet wanted to kill the dragon then she shouldn’t have placed herself against everyone else who ALSO wanted to kill the dragon. If she had a plan then she should have just said “hey, I have a plan, let’s do this thing.”
The power of democracy… Like many people said “hey, Scarlet’s going to attack LA… let’s stop her!” I’m not saying she wanted to kill the dragon, but if she had a plan to stop him, her way of doing it herself would have been the most effective
What was her plan to kill the dragon and why was it the most effective? Why not let the 5 races help you?
*Spoiler* After the final cut-scene.

ummm… I’m not sure if some of you realize this, but the OP makes it clear that Scarlet’s goal was always the dragon. She also refers to him as Tyria’s new master. This is a strong indication she wants to wake him, not kill him. Any theory that states she wants to wake the dragon before killing it is just bone headed. Seriously, would you alert your target to the fact your trying to kill it? Regarding the statement that you will either fall to Mordy or fall to Nightmare – How? Especially when you consider only a minority have fallen to nightmare and only one has fallen to Mordy, how do you come to this conclusion?
Also, Mordy wasn’t content, he was asleep. He was asleep because he wasn’t given enough magic. It wasn’t until he receive the jolt in magic that he woke up. Your theory runs opposite of the facts.
So Malyck is a servant of Mordy? You say he has a dream that makes him a servant of Mordy? Really, got a link to evidence?
There are lots of intelligences wandering around without any protection from the dream. Why was Scarlet chosen?
Maybe because Svanir was Jora’s brother, it wasn’t Jora that fell out of Bear’s favor, but all of her family because of what Svanir became.
This is what I believe also. Svanir’s corruption may have punished the whole family until the family set it right.
@konig
My first possibility on requires that sylvari be minions if the guardians were sylvari. No one knows what the guardians were. Accept you seem to think you know. Please tell us why you think the cavern guardians are sylvari.
The thaumanova possibliy simply sends us back to the original question, of where did it come from.
The husks and Wychmire seem like the most likely.
As for the corruption, it’s said Sylvari are immune to dragon corruption,.so how could she been corrupted?
Having that said, I’ve always said in my opinion that the Pale Tree can be a means of spawning dragon minions.
Not a champion, much less a dragon herself, JUST means to spawn.
Lets not forget, the foundations of the Pale Tree are based on Ventari’s table, it’s the corner stone, the very pillar of the Tree moral code, and most important of all, it was a completely random event.
No other Tree (and we know for a fact there are others) have a Ventari tablet. Can Sylvari be dragon minions that were unnaturally influenced by the Ventari tablet? I think they sure can.
Nightmare Court say they are what Sylvari are spouse to be.
Can a Destroyer be corrupted by Jormag? Not that I know of, I don’t think Dragons can corrupt each others minions that could easily explain why Sylvari are immune to dragon corruption. The Ventari Tablets are just that, tablets. They’re large stones that a dying centaur carved his memoirs into. They have no natural magical power on their own. The only known way to remove a dragon’s corruption is through a highly complex Forgotten ritual. This is what broke Glint’s connection to Kralkatorrik during the last rising, and the ritual was only recently rediscovered in Arah after Zhaitan’s death. There is nothing that indicates Ventari’s tablets have anywhere near the power required to break a dragon’s corruption. They’re just stones.
The sylvari personal story introduces Malyck, a sylvari from a different tree. He is much more like the Soundless/Dreamers than the Nightmare Court, indicating that the NC are just flat-out wrong about what the default sylvari is supposed to be.
The entire Crucible of Eternity dungeon shows just how wrong the assumption is that dragons cannot corrupt other dragon minions. The only reason we don’t have Icebroodestroyerisen running around is because the dragons are not close enough yet to be corrupting each other’s armies.
All together, while it’s possible the NC are dragon minions, there is little to no evidence suggesting the sylvari as a whole are naturally minions.
Where did the Mordremoth corruption come from? The cavern guardians, the first born test subject or Scarlet?
So here’s my question. With the dragon that we assume to be Mordy sleeping beneath 10,000 years of debris, how did the inquest manage to corrupt their test subject? I can only think of three possible sources. The first is the cave guardians, which I consider the least likely. The other possibility is the first born that the asuras experimented on. The final possibility is Scarlet herself. Frankly, I’m at a loss on how they obtain the Mordremoth corruption.
My Sylvari characters can’t make thorns come out of their fingers, and there is no recorded instance of any other sylvari doing so. It’s not what they do. I asked for a specific example and all you folks could do is give other examples. Nice try, but no cigar.
If the Nightmare is a form of corruption, why didn’t Mordy just use Faolain. Instead, he chose someone that wasn’t part of the nightmare, wasn’t part of the dream, wasn’t soundless. Also, why a sylvari? The other races don’t have a dream protecting them, did it have to be a sylvari for Mordy to corrupt? IS he not able to corrupt non plant based life?
I’d say that the thorns are just general Sylvari plant manipulation.
Name one other recorded instance of it.
I never realized how fixated people are about sexuality until reading these forums. Really people, why do you require quotas for heterosexual and homosexual relationships.
I have to wonder, if she was a servant of Mordremoth, why so coy about it? Why not just name him? Zhaitans minions are all Zhaintain this, and Zhaintan that. Why doesn’t she say come out and say she’s bringing about the rule of Mordremoth.
Because Zhaitan’s minions were corrupted, and they were fully brainwashed by the time we see them. The only thing they have on their mind is their Elder Dragon 100% of the time.
As far as we know, Scarlet was only influenced by “the Entity” at the time of her death. The markings on the sides of her face suggest the possibility of corruption, but until we get confirmation on it; we only know she had been under the Entity’s influence.
She didn’t know who was corrupting her. Her journal makes it clear that she didn’t know.

What would you consider to be confirmation? It sounds like you need a neon sign the screams “Scarlet was corrupted!”. Your not going to get it. You have all the clues you’re going to get and there are lots of them out there.
There are the Sons of Svanir.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Scorch_Emberspire, so spirits can be found in the mist. But yes to gain access to the underworld would be a bit more tricky I guess.
Emberspire was found in the Realm of Torment, which is no longer sucking souls in like mad, and is also no longer sucking the world in and so can no longer be accessed.
I’m not saying that it’s never happened or never been possible, but when it has happened, it’s relied on the divine agency of the human gods in some form or another, something that hasn’t been around for over 200 years.
In summary Emberspire doesn’t suck anymore.
What was the point of EotM?
With Scarlet dead the steam creatures are available for any nut job with a wrench.
So let me get this straight, you think the pact should have let everyone in Lion’s Arch die so they could go off and fight Primordus, who isn’t even on the surface. Or Bubble, who’s gods know where in the ocean? Or Jormag, who’s way up north in the mountains?
I think you’re connecting more things to Mordremoth than there really is.
I mean… do we really have any proof that the red vine in the vision was Mordremoth? No, we really don’t. The sketch obviously comes from the vision, so that’s not an additional point to hold but an elongated one.
It could have been a champion. And besides, Glint was blue, Kralkatorrik’s color is purple. So the color of a champion != color of a dragon’s corruption.
And it should be noted: red is completely absent from all creatures and plants in Zone Green and Experimental Lab Green But the husks in there? They have yellow cores.
I wasn’t aware of the yellow cores. Ok, here’s a question. Early on, from CoE discussions, you mentioned a connection between Mordy and Poison. Do you still believe there’s a connection there? I find it interesting no in light of the miasma used in Lion’s Arch. If Mordy does have a connection to poison, then the use of the miasma seems quite appropriate for a champion of Mordy.
I’m kind of wodering to myself if Mordy uses dreams to corrupt. I also get the feeling that Mordy was waiting for someone like Scarlet to show up. That’s why I think there will be more. If I’m right and the trees are minion factories, it’s only reasonable to assume that a few champs would be produced. I’d like to know how Mordy chose and found Scarlet and not someone, or something else.
I never said “Jormag corrupted Svanir” – I was basically saying, in short-hand form, “Jormag corrupts via mental whispers. Such as how Svanir was corrupted.”
It isn’t just Drakkar, but the Dragonspawn and other icebrood too that have this mental-corruption ability.
I don’t see how you can outright connect the red vines to Mordremoth, but deny the yellow growth on Scarlet’s face, while claiming Scarlet is Mordremoth’s champion. Being his champion, she would (either immediately akin to risen and branded, or gradually akin to icebrood and destroyers) show physical change in her body. Since we can tell it isn’t immediate, it has to be gradual. The yellow growth is the only change to her body.
The red vines from her fingers is just standard sylvari manipulation of plants.
Besides, red is Primordus’ color…
Your right, red is primodus’ color.
But there’s been a lot of red involved in Scarlet’s relation with Mordy.
First the vines from her fingers were red. I’m not aware of any other sylvari doing that BTW. However, standard or not, the color was red.
Her chosen name was Scarlet.
Red vines in the dream
Red vines in the sketch.
The red vines are significant because they appeared in her dream and she also drew it on her wall. Apparently, it was significant enough that she had to express it somehow.
Red dragon on the wall.
That’s a lot of red. Now yellow at the end. I discount it. It may be a sign, but it seems inconsistent.
@ Konig, one small technical point. It was actually Drakkar that corrupted Svanir, not Jormag. I guess you could claim Jormag by proxy.
I tend to discount the yellow growth stuff on her face kitten far, Mordy seems to prefer the color red. Examples are the red thorns around the tree in the vision. The red thorns coming out from between her fingers. The red vine in the drawings and the red sketch of the dragon..

Have you ever wondered why there seems to be no smoking in Tyria?
With tonics that turn you into chairs, homicidal holograms, Thundercats from hell wielding chainsaws and an exploded “magic” reactor that warps creatures in and out of its vicinity all day…why would anyone need to smoke anything?
Why not? Seriously, imagine Gandalf without his pipe. The only reason people don’t smoke in Tyria is due to political correctness.
No red thorns does not mean corrupted.
Master? Has nobody ever had a master apart from dragon minions? Come on!
She wasn’t in control? Of course not. She was crazy. That’s one thing we do know.
What is your definition of corruption and what do you think signs of it would be? It appears your looking for a big neon sign.
Keep it simple, we don’t need a thesis.
(edited by DarcShriek.5829)
I have two problems with gemstore skins.
The first is that is the most boring way imaginable to obtain skins. I would enjoy the ability to craft new skins.
The second is that these are one and done skins. If these were storable like the achievement skins, I would be more interested.
No proof she was corrupted?
You mean like the read thorns that came from between her fingers?
You mean like her refering to Mordy as her master?
You mean like Canach’s observation that she looked like she wasn’t in control?
What do you need, A neon sign?
I really hope Mordromoth isn’t a villain in a living story because all the players who join later in the game wont be able to fight him. He would be used best as a continuation of the personal story since at the end they say the will be going after the rest fo the dragons.
Did they remove Edge of the Mists already? Why won’t the dragon be able to stay around?
Though I agree completely, I personally feel it would be kinda redundant. We have two major gay relations ships and they just happen to both be females. Adding yet another gay relationship but this time male and male (as great as that would be) would feel like cramming it down our throats, especially since Kas and Jory are pretty new to the overall story. Let’s just wait a while and let the current stories characters progress and develop first then add more relationships of this matter to present themselves.
Agree with this. I understand why it’s being done, but too much of it is going to start seeming like it is a social agenda being aggressively pushed. I don’t recall anything while GW2 was being developed where the devs wanted it to become a vehicle for political correctness.
However, I would like to see the character of Taimi developed next. As we’ve all seen, she is popular with…well, everybody with a heart, and now that Scarlet has gone to the Great Compost Heap in the Sky I’m curious to see what she does next.
Have you ever wondered why there seems to be no smoking in Tyria?
A couple points Konig, you make the claim that her armies were beaten at every turn, yet she still succeeded in waking up Mordy. After supposedly being beaten for 14 months, she still accomplished what she set out to do. If her armies had truly been beaten like you claim, it would not have been possible for her to wake up Mordy.
At this point, it seems harder to argue that she wasn’t corrupted then to argue that she was. If you follow the tenet that the simplest solution is the best solution, then she’s been corrupted.
As far as not arguing that she’s corrupted, you’ve been the biggest peddler of the position that sylvari can’t be corrupted on the forum. give me a break.
