No other company on the planet would expect to behave this way and still be in business, let alone continue to neglect and look down upon their customer base.

Actually, the grass isn’t greener on the other side, much of your complaints can be applied to most other gaming companies these days. Personally I can say that my experience with Anet’s communication is still leagues above Bioware/EA and Cryptic/Perfect World’s.

Actually, Bioware was pretty good about things in NWN. EA, however, shouldn’t ever be allowed to even touch anything video game related. All they’ve shown that they’re able to do is destroy an IP.

That being said, however, imagine id McDonalds was ignoring thousands of complaints of food poisoning from their customers. Or if Ford was ignoring thousands of complaints about steering wheels falling off. And that those companies exhibited a pattern of ignoring customer complaints for a year and a half. Burger King and Chevy would be delighted.

Please check your sense of moral equivalency. It seems to need adjustment.

The megaserver system is still less than a week old. As with anything new, people will flock to events and megabosses until they get tired of it and move on. Give it some time and see how it goes.

If they’re still not doable in a month, then come back and complain.

I have yet to see anything that says that the Temple of Lyssa is on a Megaserver. Why are you bringing up megaservers, they have nothing to do with the Temple of Lyssa.

This thread was supposed to show how broken the megaservers are since no event ever fails. So you can’t do the events like freeing a temple to get the chest at the end.

Other than Balthazar, how are the other temples being affected by the Megaserver?

Why should we have to pay for a trait simply because it’s tied to an event that may never happen again?

This is my issue. “Play how you want” is just smoke up our kitten, it implies choice when choice is exactly what was removed from MULTIPLE things this patch. It’s “play how we want you to play at these specific points in the day or go away”

But neither did they lie about it, or hide it, in any way. They made sure to blatantly point it out, so no one would be ‘surprised’ or ‘mislead’ by what was going to happen.

That does actually make it better. Does it make it perfect? No, we hope there is a solution to the issue. But at least they were transparent about the drawback.

So if a dude came up to you with a gun, said “I am going to take your money then shoot you” then did it, that would be better than the guy just taking your money and shooting you with no warning? Oh puh-leeze.

PUH_LEEZE? You just compared Anet to a random killer. I’m sorry, but your having way point issues in no way compares to someone that randomly kills people. Seriously, if you think Anet employees should serve life in prison, which is what happens to people that get caught randomly killing others, then you need to get your priorities straight.

I wonder at what point does appearant arrogance turn into appearant stupidity and stubborness. Regarding Anets stance on the whole pushing out of this system. They look sillier and less and less reliable or even aware of this crapload of problems with every passing hour of no response.

And i dont want to burst any bubbles about bumping threads to keep on the front page, but if the engineer subforums Hobo-sack thread taught me anything, its that it doesnt matter how long you keep a thread up.

This thread is in danger of being ignored by the devs. The reason is that while posters like you are crying about this being the worst thing to happen to the game and surely doom will come upon GW2. When in fact the reality is, the general consensus is that the change was needed. It has breathed new life into many areas that were previously dead, some of these areas have been dead since day one.

Instead of being over dramatic and declaring a post mortem on GW2, you may want to tone down your rhetoric. Instead of castigating the devs, you should work with them to let them know how it affects you and then be patient. Most likely, none of the changes you want will come in the next three months, it just won’t be possible.

Your haranguing the devs will only cause this thread to be taken less serious than it could be.

I am quite aware of the wiki’s article. I wrote a good portion of it, after all. Nonetheless, we still hold no evidence as for what will happen if the Elder Dragons stop consuming magic – does magic continue to increase? Will it stabilize? Perhaps the Elder Dragons don’t just consume and release magic but produce it too, resulting in magic lowering over the centuries into nothing? And if it does continue to increase, then what happens? Does it become volatile? Does it do anything at all?

We really have so little evidence to say anything with a strong amount of certainty. We can look at elementals for what happens when magic concentrates too much in a landscape (elementals are born in areas of higher concentrations of magic); we can look to Orr for an idea of how civilizations will become. But even these are minor sample sets, often with a lot of external influences (especially Orr – in the form of the Six Gods).

I’ve wondered about this myself. Specifically. what happens if we succeed in killing all the dragons. What will absorb the magic then? Will the death of Zhaitan, cause the remaining dragons to stay active longer? My thought has been , if it’s magic that they want, then let’s give it to them. History shows, that once the dragons have full bellies, they hibernate for 10,00 years.

An increase in the tax rate would simply get passed on to consumers, with a little bit being absorbed by sellers. It would not be an effective tax on the rich.

Ok, that sounds reasonable.

But please allow me ask: According to your (or everybody else’s) professional expertise, what would be “an effective tax on the rich” that would help to fight the dire income inequality within the game? Or is this social inequality among player characters something we just have to accept as set in stone?

~MRA

What’s the point of taxing the rich, other than to punish success? Shall we force a downgrade on all players of level 80, or maybe just those with ascended gear. It seems to me that the only reason you want to tax people is because you are jealous of their success and that you want Anet, to be your instrument of vengeance.

I’m personally puzzled as to why these aren’t regulated by state gambling authorities. I know the legal reason (the real money -> gems step lets Anet pretend that there is no economic value changing hands when keys are bought), but the actual justification for the current state of the law escapes me.

2) You’re guaranteed a prize and can find out what all the possible prizes are beforehand, therefore although it’s technically gambling it’s not in the same league as a lottery or even a scratch card where you can spend money and get nothing.

It’s not gambling, it’s not technically gambling. Nothing of any real value is awarded to the player. In order for the chests to be considered gambling, players have to be able to win something with real value. Players can’t win anything of real value, that’s why it isn’t gambling.

Also, if a player earns 10 Daily AP per day then to reach the max daily limit would require 1000 days, which is nearly 3 years. I’m betting less than 1% are earning points at that rate.

Nothing else about the system changes, then again, I’ve the feeling that a lot of people who speculated that such a system change was going to happen partially just assumed the transmutation crystal thing and the costs would disappear or be greatly diminished..

It appears that another change is all those transmutation stones that are useless to level 80 characters are now useful again. We can now use all those gems that were going to buy bank space on transmutation stones if we want.

The Pact justification

in Lore

Posted by: DarcShriek.5829

DarcShriek.5829

Maybe you are right. But it doesn’t excuse the Pact from not trying their best.

The Pact airship were nowhere near LA. So of course they won’t reach LA in time to save LA. This is self fulfilling prophecy. The Pact never tried, so it didn’t succeed.

The Pact airships may or may not beat the Aetherblade airships. Either way it doesn’t excuse them from not being there. The soldiers must stand and fight the enemies, to defend the civilians, no matter the odds of winning.

So… It would have been ok for the Pact to suffer major causalities, lose of prized equipment (airships), morale, and ultimately defeat, because at least they tried their best?

While I agree that soldiers must stand and fight the enemies and to defend the civilians, but I disagree on the “no matter the odds of winning”. You can’t chance sacrificing your army to win a battle (Scarlet), when it means you’ll lose the continued war (Elder Dragons).

Scarlet might have been a highly dangerous individual, but she was still just that, an individual, and she can (and was) be dealt with like any other person can be. The Elder Dragons are not like that though. With a simple breath: they can create an army, corrupt the land to make it unlivable, destroy a settlement, and basically kill us all if they so desired.

Scarlet was no where, no where, near the level of threat of an Elder Dragon. And that is what the Pact has to deal with. I’m perfectly fine with it leaving the “small” threats of Tyria to the Orders and the major races. The Pact has to ready itself to deal with much larger threats to the land.

Think of it this way. Let’s say your army only have cavalry, while the enemies have modern tanks. Do you just sit back and watch the enemies kill your civilians?

No. You stand and fight to defend your people. Causality isn’t the issue here.

Secondly, we do not know if our airships is outclassed by the Aetherblade airships. We have never seen the Aetherblade airships non-stop phasing in and out of existence, like you claimed they can. Who is to say they won’t suffer from a 10,000 second cooldown, like most skills do in GW2? Either way, a soldier cannot be a defeatist. Else the battle was lost before it began.

And let’s say you are right about the Aetherblade airships. Then the Pact still failed as a whole, this time on the Pact engineers who are totally outclassed by a bunch of thug engineers and one person: Scarlet.

BTW you said two contradicting points in that message. You said “Aetherblades is major threat” and “Aetherblades is no threat”. If these guys are that strong and can wipe out the Pact airship fleet like you said, then they are a major threat. I would rank Aetherblades more dangerous than the elder dragons. Because we killed Zhaitan with these very airships.

If the Pact soldiers are all defeatists, if the Order of Whispers cannot do a better job at gathering intelligence, and if the Pact engineers cannot do a better job fine tuning our weapons, and other departments cannot do a better job, we might as well de-solve the organization.

A defeatist “low-tech” army led by fools cannot protect the people.

As a former member of the military, all I have to say is that you scare the crap out of me. You would foolishly sacrifice the lives of your calvary against tanks? For what purpose? You want to tell their wives, parents, and children how you sacrificed their loved ones for a hopeless cause? The idea of defense is to minimize casualties, not maximise them. The better move in your example is not to stand and fight, but to use speed and mobility to get your people out of the way, which should have been done prior to combat.

In your example, the best option is surrender.

They did tried surrendering, and then the Holocaust happened. If they knew that would happen, they would have fought harder.

Against an enemy of pure evil, it is fight or die no matter the odds.

If you think we should surrender, you have to ask yourself: How much faith do you have in your enemies that they won’t slaughter and ethic cleanse everyone.

I do agree that the evacuation should have been better planned and executed.

I will tell the dead soldier’s love ones that they all died heroes, to allow their families to escape from the Holocaust.

BTW, if the Pact eventually does fall so far that it needs to surrender to our enemies, then I was right all along: The Pact is not good enough to protect the people.

Some day, you will know what pain is. On that day, you will realize how cruel your attitude is. There is nothing the knights could have accomplished other than dying. You are promoting senseless slaughter of innocent lives.

Anet is making the change because currently not enough people are being allowed to play the way they want.

Wow, if that’s the rationale behind the change, ANet really needs a psychologist on staff. In this case, though, while you think that’s why Ferocity is being implemented, I very much doubt this to be the case.

You don’t think it’s a balance issue? Bring the classes into balance, and less people will be forced to play zerker. For people that understand logical arguments, that means more people will be able to play the way they want.

I’m so glad that gamers want to decide how we all play the game.

Reminds me of the government decided what we should or shouldn’t do in our daily life.

If a lot of people want full zerkers, then clearly Anet should make it so that full zerkers aren’t asked for as much because it isn’t “fair”. Thats how this all comes off. Its only fitting that it still doesn’t hurt the zerkers that much, but it will still slow down all runs and lower dps.

I really don’t like the idea of the nerf, and it kind of bothers me that a lot of it is due to people complaining about things that don’t really effect them. But thats how I felt most of the time playing GW1, with constant nerfing back and forth because group A whines about the first nerf and then group B whines later on.

Your post makes no sense. First off, it’s not the players that are changing the rules, it’s Anet. Second no one is saying you can’t continue to be a zerker anymore, go ahead and continue to be one if you’d like, no is stopping you. Anet is making the change because currently not enough people are being allowed to play the way they want. You said it’s important to you that people be able to play the way the want, so you should be supportive of this change.

Currently many people are blocked from group play because they don’t like to be forced to play zerker. Other people have begrudging compromised their playstyle because zerker is just too over powered.

I’m pretty sure that if zerker was under strength, you wouldn’t play it. So you can’t really claim your playing the way you want, because the only way you seem to want to play is whatever is OP. I’m sure that in another month you’ll adapt fine to what ever the new OP strategy. Those that wish to continue to play zerker, will continue to play zerker. those that ant to play differently, may finally have the opportunity to do so without be excluded from groups.

You really should be behind this change if you truly support playing the way you want.

Personally, I think articles on an official site is well within limits, as long as players are made aware of this. So in my opinion, the short stories on the official web site are part of the game space. However, you don’t. So I agree that the information should be in the game, but I disagree with you on what “in the game” means.
