That’s actually a point that upsets me a lot. Not a single NPC can be found taking note of those vines – the first time I spawned and saw this huge shadow to my feet I was like “EEK, the hell is that?!”, but not a single character can be found commenting on what’s happening. :|

Most people consider items such as this to be a small glitch and at most get a small chuckle out of it. I can’t imagine why anyone would actually be upset about it.

The nature of RNG is its randomness. It means that one person can have more than one drop within a short period of time. This is balanced out by other people going long periods without seeing one.

As someone that makes a living with random numbers, I can assure you luck does not exist. The two keys that came up as closely as they have would warrant investigation in real life. It is possible that a change to the tables has been made. I was simply trying to gather evidence.

I speculate that the gods have become inactive because there is too much magic on Tyria and that it is toxic to them. Once the dragons have reduced the levels of magic to non toxic levels, the gods will be active once again.

She likely knew of them via her studies in Synergetics, but for asura it’s been only theory. Confirmation doesn’t mean she had an interest, just heard of the theories, really.

NO. Confirmation of the ley lines means that one or more have been discovered and they are no longer theories but fact. The fact that she mentions them is evidence of her interest. It’s time you rethought your theories about Scarlet, some of them appear to be unraveling.

This may not be so. Per the discussion in this thread and my calculations on her timeline, it seems that Scarlet encountered the entity (known to be from 1321 to 1323 AE) first several years before entering the machine. So she still had the connections to the Dream at that point.

So the Dream isn’t offering protection. There are no barriers that introduced the entity to Ceara. It might have allowed the entity to get further into her, but it didn’t prevent it.

Up until Ceara entered Omadd’s device, the holograms sounded normal. Upon seperating from the dream in the device, the hologram’s voice changes. This is a good indication that the dream was protecting her.

But she intereacted with the entity before entering the device by 3 years as I pointed out.

The device did alter her, but the entity was with her beforehand. Hence “what was in there was only that she took in with her”.

Unless we take the t-shirt that apparently dates Scarlet’s life as 1304-1327 AE as canon, which means she is in fact older than the Secondborn by 4 years, and would put her entering the machine in 1319 or 1320 AE, thus before the journal, but then we hit the whole “written versus not written” and the voice change issue. It’s much cleaner and less contradictory to ignore that silly stupid propaganda of a t-shirt.

I never said she didn’t interact with the entity earlier, I only said the interactions were protected. Think of the dream as a mental condom.

The proof for the ley lines doesn’t necessarily have to come from prosperity. It could have been discovered elsewhere. Prosperity may simply have been discovered later to have better access to ley lines.

So according to this information, Scarlet turned 16 in 1320, not 1325 as was being claimed. Also, Scarlet had exposure to the ley lines as early as 1316, or possibly earlier.

I say the new stat combo has no value because the pve content in this game just requires you to do dmg. So if you aren’t doing dmg you’re doing it wrong. If they do a major haul to pve more builds will see the light of day. As of now All you need is dmg to do pve(except for world bosses because you can just crutch on soldiers for that).

The new stat is not the problem here, you are the problem.

It may come as a surprise to you, but there is also something called WvW and PVP. You should try them sometime, they’re quite fun. For you to demand that everything must be for PVE is selfish.

Anyways, try the new stat combo in WvW or PVP on a guardian sometime, you may be astonished at the affectiveness of it.

Not all life is PVE.

Yes, that journal is dated late 1321 to early 1323 (in the A Study in Scarlet instance); given Scarlet’s comment of turning 16 while Ceara, that means she had to be a Secondborn, which would by default place her becomign Scarlet to 1324 (not even 1325 due to Thaumanova and Steam creature incidents). So when she first recorded encountering the entity in her head was roughly 3 years prior to going into the machine.

Unless Scarlet was actually born in 1304. In this case, she would turn 16 in 1320. Personally, I think her timeline is messed up. It would be nice if someone could do something visual.

@Elysian: That’s odd, given that Caithe was a traveler and rarely in the Grove. It seems weird that she would have a “student” in the Grove.

I doubt they ever realized how much Sue-dom they packed into Scarlet, and to be honest, explaining that she was able to do all this as a sylvari because she’s been around long enough (aka was a Secondborn), that’d actually reduce her Sue-dom.

@Frosch: That makes even less sense. The Firstborn were born in 1302 AE – this is canonically stated as fact in the novels’ timelines. The Secondborn were outright said by Ree Soesbee to be born 6-7 years after the Firstborn, thus placing them to be born in 1308-1309 AE. It’s also stated in-game that the Firstborn were born 4 per day (1 per cycle per day) for 3 days. There were no sylvari born between 1303 and 1307 AE.

That t-shirt is a blatant contradiction of canon lore (and kind of shows to what a clusterkitten Scarlet’s lore is). I’m betting that whomever designed that t-shirt didn’t get fact checked.

And that t-shirt has further convinced me that they no longer have narrative continuity designers. Even if Angel and Scott call themselves such, and Jeff and Ree have been nowhere to be seen in their actions on the game.

Maybe Scarlet’s pod was blown off during a freak wind storm and she was born early.

So given points brought up in this other thread, mainly the apparent timeline of Scarlet’s life, it becomes apparent that her journal from Season 1 predates her going into the machine – as per my calculations given all current information, she had to enter the machine in 1324 AE, when she was 16 (and that she’s a Secondborn).

This is important, as it means Scarlet Briar still had a connection to the Dream when she first came into contact with the entity. Whether or not this entity is Mordremoth, and whether or not this entity is who messed with Aerin, it means that Scarlet – or Ceara at the time – was not akin to Soundless-ness.

Thus being separated from the Dream, or having her “barriers” in her mind broken down has absolutely nothing to do with the entity messing with her.

If the entity Scarlet dealt with is the same as the voice Aerin dealt with, then this means that Aerin, indeed, may not have been Soundless. Perhaps on the way to becoming such given the mantra found, but may not have been one yet. And in either case, if he was Soundless, it is irrelevant – maybe makes him more susceptible, but overall did not prevent him being messed with.

This is very important, because it means that whatever happened to them… the Dream isn’t a preventive measure.

The dream very well could have been the protective barrier that kept the entity from being as destructive as it was. I have my chickens fenced in, the foxes and raccoons are still there every night trying to get in. If I leave the fence open, they succeed and my chickens get eaten.

The same could be with the dream. As long as the dream is there, the target is safe. Once the dream is gone, then there is no protection and the intruder can gain it’s foothold.

I have two questions that I would like answered. Is the Master of Peace a member of the Order of Whispers and how does the miner with the itchy skull fit into this? The miner with the itchy skull seems to have gotten close to the ley lines. Perhaps this is what is causing his skull to be itchy. If this is caused by the ley lines, then perhaps the ley lines triggered Scarlet’s behavior when the dream’s protection was lost. Possibly the proximity to the ley lines is what caused Aerin to go crazy.

So, is there something in the ley lines that is infecting those that go near it?

They could have released the map for the whole of LS2 and kept the story line on the 2 week timer and everything would have been just fine….people still get their events on the 2 week timer but you also have things to do inbetween with exploring, new meta chains, new world bosses, etc.

LS1 started out with the release of the game, TONS of zones to explore and things to discover, then the LS1 episodes brought new meaning to these zones, bringing us back to them to enjoy them in new ways.

If they keep releasing these tiny zones in 2 week chunks there is not going to be any reason to come back to them because everyone will have beaten the zone like a dead horse so much they won’t want to come back.

We all know that more is to come, that is a given, so please don’t argue that “this isn’t the only zone that we will get” cause that isn’t what people take issue with….what they take issue with is being locked out of content so Anet can make is seem like we are getting a lot by stringing it out over a long period of time and saying “more to come”.

I expected the living seasons to be the equivalent of expansions, but I guess I was wrong. Instead of a chest of toys we have to be satisfied with playing the ball in cup game for two weeks before we can move on to the next toy.

I’m just tired and frustrated to be allocated to doing the same things I have been doing in game for the last 2 years. Give me new space to explore that will keep me busy for more that an afternoon.

Currently, the living story doesn’t have a villian. We’ve killed off two of them. Until a third is introduced, or the dragon becomes more active, there really isn’t a villian.

At this point it’s possible that it’s his tail, but in my opinion, it’s unlikely. I think it’s just a large magic infused vine.

It would be nice if they could give region achievements to existing locations.

If you finished the story, then you know that the next installment will open up new territory.

It’s good that Anet is releasing the content in small pieces, it keeps the content locusts under control.

The dragons do not consume magic. They absorb it like a sponge. Dragons do not break down the magic to use it for energy. They simply absorb it, store it and let it leak back out over the years.

I think the explosions may be a case of “crossing the streams”. Perhaps the strange something in the cargo that Taimi noticed may have reacted poorly to the magic in the area over Maguuma. Similar to what happened to the thaumanova reactor.

That is a good point. Her offspring must be gigantic right now, so it will never fit.

Unless it’s offspring that hatched later from an egg we do not know about yet.

Glint’s offspring could still be quite small. Glint wasn’t all that big herself. Also, how old do dragons live? It seems that Glint’s offspring would still be quite young.

There’s no evidence that says Glint’s child is large.

I’m pretty sure those dragons don’t take hundreds of years to mature.
