If Anet ever released capes, there would be an avalanche of hate mail over the fact that the capes have clipping issues. There’s no way they can win this, it’s best to choose the path of least resistance.
The wonderful thing is that you can hide the capes. There you go. Path of least resistance.
If the capes are going to be hidden, then why bother to make them? Also, how would this stop the flood of hate mail over clipping issues?
However MO indicated that these episodes will be larger. Whether you believe him or not is totally your issue.
History speaks for itself, and we have 2 years of release history to work with. The fact you WANT to trust MO is more drinking the coolaid then living in reality.
No it’s not and your post is offensive.

She doesn’t look a day over 21.
She’s also a plant. We can’t really tell. Lol.
We could always cut her open and count the rings.
Info would be nice, but I don’t think any is coming, maybe the week before we’ll get a 10 second teaser trailer.
Wrapped in a 30 second video.
I forgot, the Mordrem have calvary.
Charr have calvary, it’s mechanized. Horses wouldn’t stand a chance.
Try making like 42K silk. It’s one of those things where you leave your character for a few hours and just check back every 50 minutes to move them a bit so they don’t get bumped to the login screen.
I can’t imagine there’s a large percentage of people out there making 42K of silk at a time. The ROI for the developers would be minimal.
Now that the WvW requirement has been removed, world completion is simpler.
I predict it will deal with Abbadon. I seem to remember something about the next fractal being about the release of magic.
We need more chubbies! Maybe skimpy armor would help.
Corn in Tyria is only used to feed horses.
So because Anet didn’t use your Idea, you assume they hate it? You must not be very fun at parties.
I don’t see the need for a new name. It’s still Destiny’s Edge. Van Halen didn’t change their name when Sammy Hagar joined. Journey still calls themselves Journey.
Get thee to a city!
alot of the mmo in china have vip program, including GW2.
Then we have no need of subscriptions. If you want one, you can move to China. After all, China is a free country.
LS3 will deal with the Mursaat. It will be revealed that the Asura were a slave race of the Mursaat.
All I want is a Funco Pop Rytlock.
If any form of paid subscription is offered, I will quit playing.
I don’t believe that we will kill anymore elder dragons. We will find an alternate solution
I’ve finished DS 4 times and I’ve never heard of a ley energy converter until now
How about Pokémon?
If we allowed just anyone to buy crowbars it would be total chaos. Think of all the car windshields that would be smashed.
I want the next player race to be ooze!
What’s the point? After being cleansed, you would just be another member of the 5 major races. How would it be any different that making kitten survivor player race?
Everything else borders with pathology.
I find this comment offensive. You call me borderline pathologic simply because I disagree you. Your behavior here is abhorrent.
Please devs, don’t do this. A gemstore item that grants permanent swiftness would really play havoc in WvW. It would really suck if it became a required purchase to keep up with the rest of the group you’re running with in order to keep up.
I don’t understand why people keep asking devs to deliberately place power creep in the game.

I think they should totally do away with dailies and just let us pick the rewards we want.
Of today’s 4 PvE Dailies, two of them require you to own Heart of Thorns.
Yes, I know all of the old arguments. Trying to get us into new places. Trying to get us to experience other areas of the game outside our comfort zone. Etc., etc. You really don’t need to repeat them again. We’ve all heard ’em a million times.
I’m just pointing it out so that maybe (yeah, right) they’ll be more careful in their selections.
Just sayin’.
Actually, I loved all of the tons of new Dailies they are adding into the lineup. But I was hoping that with so much new stuff they were finally going to give us more than 4 in each area to choose from. 5 or (dare I say it) 6 Dailies from each area? Alas not. (Sigh).
Let me see if I got this right. You’re complaining about something happening that doesn’t actually happen.
Also known as complain for no reason at all.
If it would be hidden by default, and if it conveyed no boost to travel speed, sure, I’d not object. I have this feeling, though, that if they were implemented in that fashion, we’d see tons of:
- Not fair! I want other players to have to see my awesome mount!
- Not fair, we spent [insert currency and amount] and don’t travel any faster? WTK, ANet ripped us off.
At that point, the potential value to Anet would be reduced, because the market would be divided. I wish I didn’t expect this of people, but I do.
- It would not be hidden by default, exactly like a Flying Carpet, or Broom, it would be active, unless it needs to be turned off due to graphic issues (much like Mini’s)
- I don’t see this happening, with the legions of cosmetic fluff in the game, I think people would be able to grasp “it’s just for show”
Every conversation regarding mounts has always come around to the advantages they could give players. If mounts are just for show, the mount threads will continue unabated. People will not understand that they are just for show.
There’s nothing wrong with a game having mounts so people can get around faster. Overall, they appear to be very popular in the MMOs that have them. For whatever reason, GW2 decided not to have them. Maybe they just wanted to be different. Maybe they didn’t want to do the work of making them and sustaining them. Maybe they thought players would think the map waypoint system would be way cooler or more convenient.
Overall, I think the waypoint system is more convenient. But on maps where they’ve – chosen not to have very many – that’s when I think a mount system would be more convenient since I can get out my mount anywhere.
I seriously doubt, however, that the non-mount system will be changed. I think they’d make a killing in the gem store with them, but then they’d also have to deal with an entirely new system they’ve never had before, so I don’t think it will happen.
I’m going to respond to this directly, with something I already said.
I don’t have any issues with mounts.
We already have: a Magic Carpet mount, a Flying Broom mount, and a Tunneling Drill mount.
Now, before anyone says anything about how those are not “mounts” we as players can already outrun Moa’s Giant Dogs, Wolves, Deers, Panthers, Lions, and all manner of animals that would be faster then horses, any animal we could use as a mount in GW2 would in fact run slower then we can, so Mounts would purely exist for cosmetic purposes, assuming they did not in fact slow us down.
With that understood, I could see other kinds of fun mounts, like maybe a Miniature Tricycle, Pogo Stick, an Asura style “Hoverboard”, or a Charr Gear Bike. There is a whole realm of ideas for cosmetic Mounts in GW2. Including, for those that would want it, the iconic majestic stallion, perhaps made of fire or even as a steam creature, that leaves flaming hoof prints. But regardless of what mount we had, in the end, we would be able to outrun it on our own two feet, because we can outrun everything else.
However, I think the real reason why we don’t have legions of cosmetic mounts, as collectible and available as mini’s, is because no one was really into them, or Anet would have made more of them.
Now if all you need is a Movement Increase, they sell, Speed Boots which will do what you need.
Mounts are purely a cosmetic thing.
A speed boost is temporary. Given a choice, I’d rather have a one-time purchase of a mount for always rather than a speed boost I have to keep buying. And if they made the mounts run faster than we already do, their use would be more than cosmetic.
This post is an example of why people don’t want mounts. Basically, what your asking for is power creep. Once the power creep is introduced, then every one has to buy the item to keep up.
Also, many times there are too many people for my mini to be displayed. Mounts will only make that happen more often.
No mounts.
Has there been any mention of any kind of compensation for those who bought HOT? Like some gems or anything?
Why would there be any compensation?
Because a majority of players are not pleased with the cancellation of something that was promised. Additionally they have not even released half of the legendaries, and have given no date of when they will even return. Also, many people bought HOT exclusively for legendaries.
It’s not rocket science, try thinking before asking.
How do you know what the majority of players think. Please give actual numbers that support your position. I bet you don’t even know how many people play GW2.
Sylvari are very good at making charcoal.
Raises Hand! Yay!
Why stop at the removing the daily cap. Let’s make all achievements infinitely achievable.
Do you people have any idea how few people even know that legendary weapon development had been suspended?
Totally support Mike O Brien in his decision, he is a legend in the field and I trust his ability to evaluate what’s best for the game.
I’m not saying that not releasing the new legendaries isn’t bad, but it is the less bad that could happen, also focusing on the LS is good for me since I don’t care about Legendaries…
To the people getting upset about this thing…just get over it, if you like the game just for the legendaries or you bought Hot only for the new legendaries it was totally your fault not of the devs, you are free to move to something else, why wasting your time complaining about something that will not change?
I think we got too spoiled with constant updates and new free stuff that we forgot how much they did for the game till now. We already had legendaries with the expansion, now we will have 1 free. The others were not meant to be included into Hot, it was planned but they changed their mind, and that’s fine because it’s their game, their idea and they are the ones working on it. It’s not like you can wake up go to George R. R. Martin or another writer and say that he has to write his books differently and that the date of the release of his books were wong or that he promised somthing and he can not change his mind, because it’s his creation, if you like it you read it! The last thing that I want is that the devs start to follow every direction from the players and go till the end on everything that is on the table just because they promised it, even if it is not ready and not worth to be released compared to the rest. That would end up in just a big mess.More devs working on the LS – We’ll get 1 hour of gameplay sooner.
Devs working on Legendaries – We’d get x hours-weeks of gameplay toward the goal of getting this item.
Not all players do both content, however, when it comes to hours spent ingame, legendaries would definitelly help in a much greater way.
1 hour of game play for living story? I have to disagree. LW2 had brought many hours to my gameplay. I enjoy playing Silver Wastes and Dry Top quite a bit. Much more than 1 hour.
So what do you want them to do, run around until they collapse from dehydration? They’re being smart not exerting precious energy.
They’re training to become exalted!
K, so we just launched a disappointing expansion. People want content. I cancel all work on a future expansion. I make sure we buy back our good will with the playerbase. I reroute future plans to fixing the foundation. We get back to basics, we get a team going to fixing WvW,
-WvW This gamemode is in dire need of help and has problems dating back nearly to launch. They get a solid 25% of devs because this gamemode is the big moneymaker and it was a big selling point of the original game.
-PvP clearly we’re never going to be a big esport that ship has sailed. Make it a fun gamemode instead, stop trying to be an esport and get back to basics with pvp designed to be fun. 10% of the devs will be allocated to this department to work on balancing and some new fun maps/gamemodes. PvP skills and PvE skills are split and balanced independently.
- PvE This gets a big lions share of the action. We need to build up a lot of stuff, I am giving this department a solid 50% of devs. We need to really work on defining what we want from open world vs instanced content. We need to incentivize dungeons, and to fix fractals. The first step is to release the abandon fractal. Also we’re retooling the instabilities to provide fun challenges and not just tedious time wasters. Dailies will be reworked to encourage running more diverse fractal scales including a 90+ daily tier with better rewards and ascended chances.
Raids will also be included in PvE we’re pretty happy with raids, but to create a level of inclusion we will release a lower tiered version of the raid once the next raid wing is released to make it more accessible for lower skilled players/people with less time to invest.
-Holiday/Gem store skins We realize that most of the games skins are released as part of the gem store, we want to apologize and will only be allocating the remaining 10% to this as a joint effort of designing fun gem store items and holiday events. We know that happy customers will pay for our products and that we should focus on engaging content rather than pushing out overpriced items on a weekly basis with nothing to use it for.
Once we get the foundation to a level where we can be proud of what we’ve done we will be discussing our plans and accepting input of what the playerbase would like to see in the next expansion.
Congratulations, you have just destroyed your income. Now you have to choose who you will lay off. Realize, it’s not the employees fault that they are being laid off, it’s yours for deciding to kill income.
Have fun with that.
Wrong, I just bought good will and faith from my customer base. We will still sell copies of the expansion, we will still sell gems, and we will still have a playerbase to buy the next expansion when the game is in a state to support it. If the team I had dedicated to a certain thing doesn’t deliver anything after a whole 6 months? I replace them, I don’t push the punishment onto the customers.
You don’t have much experience hiring skilled programmers do you? Also, why would people buy gems, if there’s nothing new to buy?
This may be remedied by making the vines have similar difficulties. The balance on the vines is warped.

I’m just curious what all the “I don’t care about legendaries so I am happy” posters would be saying if this was reversed and it was their favorite content that was being nixed. The selfish rallying behind anet is disgusting.
Sorry Dinks, but if suspending the legendary weapons makes other playable content better, then I support this decision. I think more people will be positively impacted by this than negatively impacted.
Of course, I couldn’t care less about the legendary weapons. I don’t use the one I have, and I don’t see myself getting enough core mastery points to build the new one. It’s just not a path I’m interested in going down.
I understand why your upset about it, but don’t expect everyone to share in your misery.
Dry Top and Silver Wastes are my favorite areas. They are both very beautiful.
Will you pre-order the next expansion? [Poll]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: DarcShriek.5829
I’ll most likely preorder.
I just can’t take a game that seriously. When I start to get frustrated I turn the PC off and go outside.
I see people excited about the story but so far we have confirmation of what we speculated about in Brisban, honed in on in Dry Top and soft confirmed in Silverwastes. Here’s hoping the bread crumb story in wing three brings in the Shining Blade and the epic return of Livia. Bonus points if it leaves the Maguuma entirely and hooks back into the Krytan locket plot (although it would be super lame if they redid what they did with Scarlet and Jennah survives another assassination).
Why do people assume that the locket doesn’t have Jennah’s picture in it?
Which dragon would that be? The dragons that are affecting us now all survived the last round.
We’ve killed two elder dragons so far. What were the elder races able to accomplish? Well, they cured glint, and managed to differ the problem so there descendents would have to deal with them.
Frankly, I’m not impressed with them.
Oh yeah, they created the exalted. So far the exalted haven’t done anything helpful.
Quaggan is best prepared slow cooked over sylvari. Can’t beat that smoky flavor.
