It irks me to no end to think that there are players out there that think they need to demand that anet limit what I can do with skins that I earn. If I earn a high value skin that I don’t particularly care for, I should be allowed to sell it so that I can be a skin I do like. I don’t understand why you people feel the need to control what I do with my skins. Stay out of my inventory!

It’s over unless Thakery has a seed planted in him and which point WOOHOO!!! we get to kill Thakery!!!

Sylvari can’t be turned into Branded, Undead, or Corrupted which are all beings infused with the dragons will or whatnot. Primordious has his own deal the Destroyers that said there are no Mordrem controlled Chak and plenty of salt water under Tangled Depths(or fresh who knows it has Piranhas but also has Jellyfish and Tuna) and off the coast of Dragons Basin. So next Dragon might be Bubbles if the Chak are indeed his/her minions.

Mord’s fight was better than Zhatian but Zhatian’s had the theme and setting you actually felt like you had to fight to reach him. Also if Zhatian was parked next to Rata Sum he wouldn’t just leave it be like Mord Zhatian corrupted all the maps around him.

Maybe there’s a “seed” planted in Kasmeer.

The answer to this is really dependent on the next season of the LS. It would have been nice to see the location of the other pale tree and deal with the issue of an entire tree of corrupted sylvari. However, with the dragon dead, we now have a chance to explore deeper into maguuma. If the LS takes advantage of this, then I wouldn’t say the story is too short.

Change. People hate it. The new rules in HoT are forcing people to do things differently. When people are faced with this, typically the first reaction is “I hate it”. If the changes are for the better, the negativity will calm down soon.

Anet has admitted to making some mistakes and are working to fix them, so some of the negativity has been justified.

Having employees — even key employees — poached by Amazon isn’t exactly a sign of trouble. Amazon is making a play in the game development space, and if they want someone, they possess the wherewithal to make offers people can’t refuse and few competitors can match. If anything, it’s a testament to the talent at ArenaNet, because Amazon is rather picky about who they hire.

I think ArenaNet was reasonably clear that Heart of Thorns was intended to offer greater challenge, and it does. I suppose they could have explained that in greater detail before release, but I don’t think it is fair to suggest they were out to mislead anyone.

As for how hard the level of challenge should be, every player has a different preference, and ArenaNet must ultimately choose between setting the bell curve to satisfy the most players, or losing money.

Though they are quite sensitive to player feedback, the squabbling in the forums won’t change the cold, hard business realities that must drive those decisions. Player comments do have some influence, but the big questions will ultimately be decided by ArenaNet’s core principles, strategic vision, in-game data and revenue.

Otherwise, there really will be reason to worry about the future of Guild Wars 2.

KEY personal Arent important in computer business?
this the business, where they are MOST important, sometimes one person can
make or break a huge investment of time and money
HoT is a fine example of that

I work in the gaming industry. It’s not unusual for the industry to “realign the deck chairs” every couple of years. It’s a small industry so it’s easy to get to know the big players. The fun part of the trade shows is to see who’s working where now. Anyone with any kind of experience is bombarded with offers. Turnover is no big deal as long as overall moral is fine.

Didn’t this exact issue get raised when mentor tags were first announced?

Wasn’t the official response that there would be mechanisms to report people for abusing mentor tags?

Has anyone tried right-clicking the tag and seeing if there’s a report option?

Not a solution. Stop sugarcoating.

So, let’s see…

I point out this issue was raised even before the launch. Fact.

I point out that ANet said they’d prevent abuse. Fact.

I ask if anyone has tested to see if they can actually report abuse. Not claiming this is a solution, simply asking if anyone actually tried. I’m curious if ANet did include such a mechanism, I’m not going to blindly assume they didn’t because I didn’t have any apples to test it on at the time of posting, so I asked a question

Are you really that salty over the issue that you’d call anything that isn’t parroting your opinion “sugarcoating”?

What exactly is abuse of a mentor tag though? Surely just popping one up can’t be considered abuse.

It’s time for small guilds to stop being so elitist and invite more players to join them.

It shouldn’t have to be explained to anyone that small guilds are not small guilds due to an elitist attitude. But whatever.

Yeah, a lot of them are. If you only open membership to you and a small group of friends, that’s a clear signal that you don’t think anyone else is good enough to play with you..

No, it isn’t. I don’t belong to a small guild because I think I’m better than anyone else or play better than anyone else and nor do my friends feel that way. This makes as much sense as saying everyone that doesn’t do or does do a particular activity only has one reason for doing so.

I play tennis because I belong to a country club. I don’t eat doughnuts because I’m not a cop. I go to the movies so I can have popcorn. I live in Hawaii because I surf.

Newsflash: There is more than one reason for why people do the things they do or don’t do. Most of them not exactly because they think they’re better than anyone else.

Yet you refuse to invite others to your guild. Plus you refuse to join a larger guild. Your refusal to join others is somewhat anti social and elitist, despite your pleas to the contrary.

Heart of Thorns: Grossly Unfinished.

DarcShriek.5829

I don’t know if it’s unfinished or not but it’s blatantly obvious the grind for elites (when the cost was 400 hp) was padding the content and that’s it.

I’ll never buy kitten expansion from Anet again. Not unless it’s the size of at least Nightfall. We got $25-30 worth of content at best.

Now I’m not saying I hate HoTs, I love playing the revenant, it’s breathed some new life back into the game for me but that doesn’t excuse how little content there actually is in the expansion.

h

They said up front for a long time this would be their smallest expansion ever as they’re setting up new features to expand on later. It’s not so much a flat content thing as feature rich. After this xpac, all the major features of the game (except maybe on or two sometimes for a real change idk Mounts cough) xpacs later will haz moar. So that should at least make you feel better about map size.

So what you’re saying is we paid more for less now? It’s all well and good if they want to set up for things they’re doing in the future but don’t charge the price of a full game for it.

I don’t have enough faith in Anet at this point to keep any of the promises they make as far as future content goes. I still remember how they first told us we’d get precursor crafting in September of 2012 and then again in the infamous “Second Half of 2013” blog post. And here it is 2 years later and we had to pay to get access to it.

Please go back to the “Second Half of 2013” and look for where any promises were made. You won’t find any. They didn’t promise one thing in that blog post. You seem to be making stuff up of the top of your head. You’re not helping yourself here.

Why do small guilds feel so put upon by inviting people to join them?

I have a Latin American social Guild.
There is not much latin people, and most of them are on the “big” latin guilds.
I don’t know about the rest, but finding people for my guild is difficult.
Also why should we invite other people just to get the content we paid for?
What if we want a friend or family only guild? It’s not my case, but it should be taken in consideration.

Small guilds are like the parties that kick people out for not strictly following the zerk meta.

What did you guys want guild wars 2 to be?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DarcShriek.5829

DarcShriek.5829

I expected gw2 to be about skins. I also expected it to be about exclusive skins. However what I imagined was a bit different from what it is..

This is what I expected:
1. Theres a new skin available in GW2. Anet challenges players to figure out the recipe.
2. After trial and error, player A eventually discovers the skin recipe.
3. Player A realises that the item is not hard to make, so he only shares the recipe with his friends B,C,and D.
4. Eventually everyone else figures out the recipe and it gets posted online. The game is flooded with people wearing the skin. Time to move on to the next one (next exclusive item).

This is what ACTUALLY happens in this game.
1. Theres a new skin available in GW2. Anet challenges players to figure out the recipe.
2. After long trial and error, player A finally discovers the recipe.
3. Player A realizes that the recipe has a rare component, so he and friends players B,C, and D buy up all these rare parts from the trading post.
4. Player A then releases the information online and resells the rare parts 10x higher.
5. Players A, B, C, and D are now the only ones wearing this exclusive skin because nobody else can afford it.
6. The end.

Except that’s not what happened with night fury. The information was made available publicly within an hour. Much of the research was publicly documented while it was ongoing.
