but seriously tho… where the hell are the new legendaries?!? werent we promised 20? we have 3. i need a new dagger!
We were never promised 20 new legendaries. Why do you think we were?
I wouldn’t play.
30k+ ap here. The daily cap was a blessing because it allowed me to focus on other aspects of the game to grab some more valuable achievements. If you are an AP hunter, you could live without the existence of the daily AP as it would give more importance and value to all other achievements. Login in and doing 3 cheap things to get +10 AP is not something to be asked for more.
So dailies are fine as they are. If you missed past events, its not your fault, but there shouldnt be some kind of compensation on the daily cap because you did not participate in those past events.
If you just recently hit the cap, my advice is learn to live without having to do this daily pointless carrot that doesnt reward you for anything really, just like all the veterans who capped the dailies leared to live without completing the daily. You can find other things in the game to enjoy now that you’ve hit the cap.
And I agree with malediktus, if tweaks are to be done to the achievement system, it should be focused on changing some of the AP amounts some achievements give, be it more, be it less.
To be honest, if you are between 0 ap and 20k AP, you have absolutely no chance of ever catching up with the people in the leaderboards, even with a limitless daily AP (but seriously, who would want that, you achieve nothing really…). Having a cap is fine, it gives a goal. Often we see people who reacher those goals (MF, Daily AP) trying to force their way to push those further instead of looking for another goal somewhere, be it a collection, or doing specific achievs for exemple.
And then there’s the kind of people like rauderi who are not even concerned by these kind of topic as he’s not even an AP huner but still wants to voice his opinion based on no experience at all.
Afraid your assumptions are false. And that Perfect Spelling achievement eludes.
So far as the actual content of your argument, there may be some validity in assuming people will hunt other game content for AP rewards, especially since that is the only way to get those rewards. I wouldn’t call that a terrible thing.
Amusingly enough, those AP are awarded for simply following other goals, such as reward chests and mastery points. So now, what doesn’t get done with any considerable frequency? AP-only achievements. If it isn’t tied to a skin or Legendary creation or a useful gear stat, it’ll go ignored until everything else is done.
But, none of that is really much argument to keep the AP cap. It’s not appealing to most of the players. It blocks the sense of progression that would keep people doing dailies. As more players hit that cap, that’s less PvP/WvW participation and more players logging in, grabbing their daily chest and logging out, unless the game provides incentive for players to go elsewhere. The people least likely to see the benefit are the 1000-2000 people whose egos are tied up in a 5-digit number that nobody else cares about.
Great, now we’re arguing about who’s the best speller! Please close this thread Anet, it no longer serves a purpose.
They could have something similar to the PFRC traveling from waypoint to waypoint.
Also, lets remove the limit on jumping puzzles. I should get AP every time I complete a jumping puzzle, not just the first time. Also, the salvage AP. I should get that every time I salvage 200 items.
Anyone who voluntarily does a jumping puzzle deserves what is coming at him, in one way or the other.
And yes, you should not have an AP for salvaging. It simply does not make sense to cap it, either remove it or remove the cap altogether. If someone is willing to risk his health for clicking on countless items to salvage them, why not? I simply fail to understand how this affects you. If you quit GW2 right now, nobody will remember that you were Nr. 1 for X years in six months, you can trust me on that. Only a hall of fame which is constantly upgraded but shows your old efforts too could change that.Is there really a market for elitism and envoy/anger/some other bias for people looking for easy stuff complaining everywhere, from A as AP up to Z as Zhaitan is a cakewalk?
I just hope you people never come close to a soup kitchen or something like that with that attitude. You would be surprised how many people look for the easy way of asking for food and a place to stay in a cold night instead of manning up by sleeping in the cold.
What are you talking about?
i agree with this, if i hit 15k limit and this is not changed I WILL QUIT, there will be literally NO REASON to continue playing if i cant get any more AP
Why should anyone care if you quit over this?

I can’t get Scout Acan to talk to me. I tried logging in and out as suggested, but he still won’t talk to me.
(do we really need another why i hate hot story thread?)
No, but Slowpoking is a troll who keeps arguing for the sake of bashing ArenaNet left and right. It’s why I stopped responding.
And though this post will probably get an infraction and deletion because I used the t word, I hope others see this and stop the pointless discussion with someone who won’t stop arguing.
There is a particular quote that comes to mind: Don’t argue with idiots, for they will bring you down to their level and beat you with years of experience.
Ah yes, the old “call them a troll if you can’t get them to agree with you, because no one should be allowed to disagree with you” tactic.
I find dragon ball to be a total drag. I don’t participate. It’s worse than the snowball fight.
I honestly don’t want any new player races. It seems like a huge waste of resources.
I enjoyed season 1 better than season 2. The problem I had with season one was that when it was over, it was gone. I would have liked to have some of the events remain. Events such as the aetherblade dungeon, the krait tower, and the marionette.
I do like the replayability of season 2, but season one just seemed more epic.
This is probably because each month was its own individual plot – much like the personal story chapters – which had an overarching plot. However, Season 2 was just two plots (episodes 1-4 and episodes 5-8) with one overarching plot (that led into HoT), and HoT had only one plot to it (well, 2 really, but they both lasted the same length).
As such, like how each chapter of the PS has its own climax, so did every two releases of Season 1 (or four releases, in Flame and Frost’s case). This increase in climaxes in the story results in a more ‘epic’ feeling throughout.
No not really, but thanks for trying to tell me how you think I should feel.
Yeah title said actually pretty much everything. I would put these Traits on baseline, maybe as a levelup reward after you hit lvl 40 or something like that. Instead of these traits we could have some more game changing things.
It sounds like you’re asking for power creep.

Sierra Club and PETA wouldn’t allow us to kill them so they would rule the world.
I usually use a ranger. Let the pet agro and stand back and shoot my longbow. I can also use my revenant to solo camps.
Ranger is definitely easiest though.
I don’t believe that the OP is being entirely honest here.
Zhaitan is dead.
I was hoping for a Shattererer title.
It’s worth it on people who’re smarter.
Put permanent bank access, permanent TP access, Permanent copper salvage kit, Permanent Mystic forge conduit, and Permanent Merchant access, and you’d never need to visit any city on any of your toons anymore.
To utilize it in a single slot, just bring Permanent Bank, and put the other 4 in inventory.
Single slot is alot. You just have to think it smart before you cry.
Accept for crafting
I don’t see why they would refund you. You could always share these items as they are account bound. They just made it more convenient now.
It’s not unthinkable. They reimbursed people when soul bound harvesting items became account bound.
People have been saying that GW2 is dying since day one. They’ve all been wrong. I’ll just add this one to the pile.
I hope they top Mordy with Whipped cream and a maraschino cherry!
I will just leave that video here. It pretty much says everything about HoT and why it is a huge failure, obviously not only for me.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gItzcaBIOKk
I don’t consider it a failure.
Got HoT about a week ago.
Few days ago i realised I am short about 6 points towards maxing my tyria masteries
My options?
- Grind tripple ascended armor
- Grind useless & ugly collections (ambrite or luminescent)
- Dive in various locations in tyria (seriously anet? this? a kittening mastery point??)
- Kill the SW legendary bosses (Rng based boss spawn chance)
- Complete my remaining season 2 story’s wich are locked for me and require a 100g or 800 gem investment (Shame on you for not including this within HoT, seriously)
- buy all cultural armor (another 200+ gold investment)
- Triple trouble (Most likely the easiest of them all since this is still organised frequently)The joy when i discovered all my remaining points i can earn are locked behind maps that are deserted except for the main meta event or a complete and utterly pointless grindfest towards a collection achievement or a season 2 story that should have been included into the hot purchase in the first place.
Anet, There’s a kittening reason I never completed my drytop & silverwastes achievements. There’s a reaon I never finished my ambrite collection and there’s a reason I never finished crafting triple ascended.
Where’s your sense of loyalty anet? Did you really threw ALL OF IT away after you decided to rebrand your entire game and live up to everything except the things you promised pre season 2?
Did none of you consider that you’re locking mastery’s behind content some people don’t even enjoy? behind collections people don’t bat an eye about?
Why don’t you award me some points for the 5000 fractals i’ve been running over the past 3 years. No, only having the fractal weapon collection doesnt cut it, especially since that was completely rng before hot to begin with.
What about my outstanding performance during marionette? or during the LA defense?
Nothing?
Thanks a kittening lot.
So much for exploring NEW content
Considering the problem you’re having with masteries, I predict you’ll have even more problems if you get them. It looks like you want to create legendaries. Once again, you’ll be back complaining about the same issues. I suggest you stop while you’re ahead. The only masteries you’ll use are the fractal masteries.
This such total BS. There are a number of negative posts from people that are simply trolling. Really, complaining isn’t as honorable as you would like people to believe.
So you think that a lot of people that complain actually enjoy the game as it is and only complain to troll? Now THAT is total BS. Trust me, when I stop complaining it’s either because there are no serious problems in the game, or I have completely given up and gone elsewhere.
You think trolls don’t exist. Don’t we wish.
I couldn’t quit this game fast enough if they ever implemented anything that even resembled a subscription.
I have to go with the OP on this one. Chef’s should be able to craft mithril ingots now. Also, the reagents should be sold by master jewelers and master chefs. It’s pretty minor, but the change would make sense.
Maybe huntsman would be a better choice for making kegs.
- personal story gives you a fair exploration of the world and a special weapon at the end
- living world, if you havent already, you need to unlock the LS2 in order to play trough it. This takes you trough some new maps and shows you a new massive skritt jumping puzzle, new stat sets (if you want them), the ability to create mawdrey and a few other nice things
- hoT- you play in the latest ,newest zones, you progress trough your masteries that allow you to explore new corners of the zones. This is a great thing if youre into pve, events with harder mobs than in the core game, and you simply wish to explore new stuff. (comes with lots of new different rewards)
-Legendary Weapon Grind- You will have to 100% map complete the core world, or start the precursor crafting mastery if you wish to go for the new legendaries. While its a grind, it can be pretty fun
- World Completion- you do it for the original legendaries, or just for fun
- Dungeons- you can still make a nice amount of gold if you do these on a regular basis. You get tokens for special craftings, or just spend them on weapon/armor skins you wish to combine and make your armor set a more “unique” look
- Fracs-This is considered to be a progressive challenge where gear, skill, and knowledge of the instances matter. One could say this is (besides the new super hard raids) the end game pve. It has gear grind (ascended with AR infusions), it scales with difficulty, and has its own unique rewards not available anywhere else (skins, and even a back piece)
Just to clear things up a bit, you don’t need LS2 to enter Dry Top and Silverwastes. You do need it to create Mawdrey, but not the jumping puzzle mentioned.
There is a limit to the number of times you get points for the salvage achievement.
This thread should be merged with the other threads about mounts, PvE dueling and capes.
Enjoy it for what it is. And if you don’t like it, you can always take a break and come back when something about it appeals to you again.
How is that going to happen when those who don’t like it are deemed salty and told to leave? Then you have a forum of people saying it’s great and nothing ends up changing and or the game dies.
Have you missed all the threads on this forum that bring up problems?
The future huh? Well lets see what we can expect. Some outfits, some BL ticket weapons, maybe some minis, a few gliders, probably a few overpriced bundles, overpriced dye kits with poor drop rates, and gem inflation. Oh you meant in the game? Some rehashed holiday events that will probably be full of bugs and not allow us to play as a party to “stabilize pvp”.
Way to spoil the party.
What! Optional items in the gemstore that I don’t have to purchase unless I want to!?!
How dare they!
A good company would have forced us to buy them.
Sorry, i never thought players would abuse the tp for that.
Players will abuse any and every thing to their advantage.
Why not just give all players a set of legendary armor? Why stop at a 50 slot bag?
I’ve enjoyed HoT so far. If I’m still playing when the next expansion is released I will not hesitate to prepurchase it.
The OPs request goes against Anets design philosophy for GW2. Playing one race shouldn’t give you an advantage over another. The OP is asking Anet to design a super race here that would destroy game balance totally.
One big problem here is that the players profited in game for their testing efforts. Anet can’t allow this to happen. They already get grief for possible TP speculation from people with inside knowledge.
DnT simply broke their trust with Anet. They had to respond.
In GW2, if I want to do casual, I have the entire core to do casual in. If I wish to do something a little more difficult, I can go to the HoT zones. Frankly, I’ve spent enough time in VB now that it’s starting to feel casual.
I don’t understand the problems people have with masteries. So far, they haven’t done much to slow me down. I haven’t found getting the required exp to be a problem.
Prior to HoT I had been in maintenance mode for quite a while. Now I’m enjoying the new content. VB has been a lot of fun and I’m just starting to spend time in AB. My time in TD has been a bit difficult, but I feel I should eventually get the hang of it. Overall, it’s been a delight.
Dailies have bothered me recently also. At least they’ve adjusted the WvW ones. There is hope.
I fail to see how this looks too much like incinerator.
If you want to see useless unrealistic deaths of heroes, watch the movies Patton and Lawrence of Arabia.
So you’re now comparing a five man group to a army made up of the vast resources of an entire continent’s population.
Also, when did Glint become an elder dragon?
If you’re going to use examples, please use examples that make sense.
Actually, I presume that being evil or good is independent of being an Elder Dragon. However, you presume that being evil required for being an Elder Dragon.
We know that beings can become Elder Dragons – just as we know that beings can replace the Six Gods. Who’s to say that, jst like the Six Gods, there has not been a system of replacement amongst the Elder Dragons?
We know that it is possible, so why do you deny all probability of such an event?
Does the fact that Dhuum and Abaddon were evil dictate that 1 out of every 6 gods will be evil at a time? No.
You cannot apply statistics to such small numbers, because they are too small of a sample size. The fact of the matter isn’t that it isn’t ‘random numbers’ or ‘statistics’ but experimentation. When you go into an experiment to find out the result of doing something, you have to repeat the experiment over until you have a sufficiently large sample size. Often you’d even have a control group.
With my coin flipping example, the point wasn’t to argue that it’s an independent random event, but that you can get the same result multiple times without it being the only result.
You ask if we have any evidence to support that other Elder Dragons exist. We don’t, but we do have evidence to support that other Elder Dragons can exist.
You ask if we have any evidence to support the existence of good Elder Dragons. We don’t, but we do have evidence to support that there are benevolent beings with power equal or greater to Elder Dragons in existence.
So to argue that “there can never be a good Elder Dragon” is foolhardy, because until ArenaNet comes in to write that, it isn’t true. This is a fictional piece of work and as such the outcome is what the writers decide. Even if it makes no sense and is a complete retcon of previous evidence. >.>
You have no point here. Your point about the coins is funny. It would lead to the thought that if two people continue to have offspring, eventually a bear may be the result.
Also, you are correct that I believe the natural tendency of elder dragons is malevolent. I think only with intervention could an elder dragon be benevolent. That may be the end result of what is happening with Glint’s egg, but there is nothing to support that position. It could just be that the egg simply absorbs the magic and never hatches. There has been no hint given as to what the end result will be.
(edited by DarcShriek.5829)
If a benevolent elder dragon had ever existed, it would still be alive. There is no record of any direct conflict between elder dragons, so the only way for a dragon to be killed is for all the known races to gather together and kill it. Now tell me, why would an entire continent band together to kill a benevolent dragon?
Just imagine all the complaints that Anet would get if they gave away LS2 with HoT.
….Are we really going here again ?
Are people so intrinsically lazy now, that playing and learning are thown out the window entirely ?
I started this game at head start, back when the wiki was pretty much a baron wasteland outside of some minor lore. People had to learn as they played…not be giving a silver platter of knowledge.
If actually playing the game is a problem, then the problem isn’t the game it’s the user.
No the problem is not the user. It is the game. While GW2 tries it’s best to explain things, it still falls short in many areas.
