Revenant: Dryad/Warden
Legendary Forest/Dryad/Warden/Plant/Whatever Stance: Urgoz
Longbow + Auras/Mobile wells (simulating the effects of the different parts of the Warren; weakness, health degeneration, etc… Not really sure how to simulate exhaustion in GW2)
Elite could be a riff on the ‘minefield’ move from the Shadow of the Dragon fight, causing an AoE snare and a number of growths that explode if not killed, triggering AoE wells of poison and/or torment or something.
Ranger: Rifleman.
Gets rifle. Gets 1500+ Range. Gets Tricks utilities and traits that readily grant swiftness for greater evasion. Could probably make due with stances or Venoms as well, but eh. Rifle is the important part.
Ranger: Bard. Because Archers becoming bards is apparently how things work.
Since they’ve already got both types of bows causing the bow->harp thing to go out the window, I guess you could give them scepters or maces and they could use them like microphones (even though this is ye olde Tyria)?
Elementalist: Sorcerer. Summons storms. Because tempest doesn’t, so why not? >_>
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
The lack of zone-specific pieces is what causes the music to not resonate with me too much.
There are a few pieces that I find rather nice, but most don’t really stand out, and without tying a location or a specific event to them the vast majority of the music just feels unmemorable.
And while I like some of the original GW’s pieces as well, I’m kind of torn about their use in GW2. If it accompanies a fitting event (IE: Crystal Oasis in Hidden Arcana; one of the best uses of music in the game IMO), it works. If you’re just playing the Pre-searing music in one of the random zones (especially when that zone is Cursed Shore), it… doesn’t.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Why is it considered time manipulation when a skill allows you shorter cooldowns really?
Or maybe you think that anyone that applies Chill is actually distorting time?
Which is why Chronomancer feels like a really cheap conceptual stretch to me (Hell, some of the effects don’t really feel time-related at all).
But its sort of the same thing here. This specialization really just feels more like ‘Arch-Magus’ or ‘Advanced Elementalist’ than ‘Tempest’ to me. Where are the storms, man. :-(
Kind of feels like the gameplay and concepts for each spec are being handled separately and then crammed together.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Very little about it really made me think ‘Tempest’.
I know they had to be a bit restrained, but I wanted to see storm-summoning as a big thing. :-/
Then again, all of the E-specs so far except maybe Reaper have kind of felt a fair bit off from what their name is.
Still sucks that Song of Storms isn’t a thing. Why else would you pair “Tempest” with “Warhorn”?

An aside: I personally wanted pistol/pistol because it’s an awesome concept (spell slinger). That said, I’m not currently disappointed with this outcome, but who knows, maybe come Friday you and I will have swapped places on the matter.
Since Elite Specs only seem to be getting one weapon each, I’m actually kind of concerned going forward since, had they given pistol off-hand, and then gave pistol main-hand to a different Elite Spec down the road (for example), you’d never be able to get P/P.
I am disappointed the warhorn was still used as an off-hand here though.
I would very much like to see ‘off-hand only’ die as a concept.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
No confirmation for Song of Storms. :-(
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Eh. I’d prefer they made it main-hand simply because I want the concept of off-hand-only weapons to die, but it actually could be interesting. I actually like musical weapons and, though warhorn is rather dull on that front, its the closest thing we currently have (save for the minstrel).
I’ll agree the current selection of skins suck though. Only a few of them really stand out.
:-/
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Unlikely to be a 5th attunement, not only is there not really a 5th element to use for it, but would also mean they would have to design new skills for every single existing ele weapon. And beside that the f5 on chronomancer aint exactly a 5th shatter either, but a different kind of class skill

But, I’m going to be very disappointed if one of the Warhorn abilities is not called “Song of Storms”.

The idea of underwater legends is interesting, but I’m wondering what they could use… Off-hand I can only think of:
Legendary Djinn Form – Dehjah (Probably not significant enough to count)
Legendary Naga Form – Hanasha Coralfin (Same as above)
Legendary Snowman Form – Freezie? (Snow→Ice→Water…… Yeah, really starting to stretch here)
Unless they already broke the chain and called Shiro’s stance “Legendary Assassin” (not sure if we know what it’s called yet), in which case all of the others should be renamed, IMO.
If they did though and we’re not getting one per race, I can see Cobiah Marriner being one of the legends. Or possibly Lady Glaive.
Hylek, Quaggan, and Largos are the races that would best have an underwater legend associated with them, but we haven’t really gotten enough of their history and lore to have any character from those races that would be meaningful enough to matter…
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Aesthetically, I could get behind something like the twisted.
Lore-wise, they’d have to stretch themselves to make it feel sensible…
The only race I’ve much interest in as a possibility is the Djinn, and that seems unlikely due to considerations of armour, swimming, etc. Largos too, I guess, but that’s more a matter of, “If we’re going to get one, I guess they’re the best realistic option.”
As for undead, if they did it, it would end up being the Awakened. But there is too much variance in their aesthetics, and I suspect Johko is never going to be too close an ally (at best a temporary ally of convenience again) to any of the races for that to happen anyway.
I was kind of interested in Wardens prior to release, but they may feel too much like a retread of Sylvari, and I’m kind of hoping if they (and Urgoz) ever get brought up again, there will be some sort of lore connection between the background of the two races.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
If they ever give an Urgoz elite spec, you’ll get your bow.
Possibly Keiran Thackeray as well, but I kind of doubt they’d go that route.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Has anyone noticed that all other legends are defined by their race (e.g. Legendary Dwarf Stance) but Shiro is defined by his profession (Legendary Assassin Stance)?
The race trend is why I hope they go with Legendary Envoy Stance.
If they have to deviate, I’d say ‘Betrayer’ is better than ‘Assassin’, but eh… Stick with the races.
Then we could hope for:
Legendary Lich Stance – Khilbron
Legendary Oni Stance – Kanaxai
Legendary… Warden/Tree/Whatever… Stance – Urgoz
Legendary Dolyak Stance – Professor Yakkington
etc…
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Legendary Envoy Stance or Legendary Betrayer Stance?

While I like seeing characters from GW1 again, legends that predate even those would be interesting as well. Or characters that were present then but not seen (IE: Menzies or potentially Arachnia, depending on what happened to them).
Of the GW1 characters though, it’d probably be Nicholas and Jora.

So we should go all genocidal on the 5 races next, eh?
Seriously though, when a personal story step has a Kodan tell me, “Yo, that Dredge is messing up the balance and stuff because mining is bad, ya’ know? Go murder him and maybe I’ll tell you about your horn,” and my response is basically, “On it, boss!” Gotta wonder how heroic we really are.

Number 3 is kind of pushing it. Yeah, I find it a bit weird if I AFK in a random spot and someone comes up 3 inches from me, but its not really intimidating. Just a minor annoyance at worst, and I can AFK in the Hall of Monuments if I want to get away from that.

Not knowing what you are fighting is the simplest way to add challenge. The reason people are able to farm dungeons in 10min is because they know exactly what to do and what the mobs are going to do. So with that predetermined strategies are used then optimized to be most efficient(zerker).
The way to solve this is to create randomly auto generated dungeons. Where mobs, locations, story, etc are all randomized for each dungeon. Fractals kind of kitten this idea but not to a point where it matters. With things being random you can’t fit to a single mold, you have to be more of a balanced approach not only from a individual standpoint(good mix of armor, HP, DPS, etc) but also as a group.
A degree of randomness is good, but too much and you end up making the world feel like less of a legitimate place.
Random enemy placement, and ‘evolving’ enemies that can adjust to your setup/tactics would be better though. And wallmasters. Stand in one area while in combat for too long, and they throw you back to an earlier point. >_>
That aside, I’m not a fan of pre-formed group content anyway, so I’d rather they steer in a different direction. Larger, hot-joinable, and scalable instances would be good to me. Instead of just, “Ascalon Catacombs”, you could have an instanced campaign that includes the entirety of “The Desolation”. Start a room, people can talk to the gatekeeper to see what is available and can enter and leave as they please. If you want to restrict it to people you know, rooms can be password-protected. Multiple modes available for the difficulty you prefer, but nothing obnoxiously stupid.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Sword/Shield, Mace/Shield
Granted, I want them to eventually add Shield/Shield as an actual set, but that’d just make it worse, since you could theoretically have 3 (or 4 if you wanted to be a jerk) shields equipped at that point.

It’s crap. What kind of amusement park doesn’t have any rides?
Where’s the big ferris wheel? The roaring roller coaster built with washed up debris?
Most of all, where’s all the deep fried food carts? All I see are apple vendors that won’t sell me their apples.
I give this park a 0/5 stars. ArenaNet really needs to shape up and get their butts in gear.

Black gem would be cool, but I’ll never come close to getting that. As far as adding back old items (a la Teq Wings), I’d also like a new source of Knight Cores, as the finite supply on the TP is crawling way too high for me.
And I’d like a Faerie as a back item. It just floats around over your left shoulder, and maybe occasionally screams, “HEY! LISTEN!”
Or just makes soft little bell sounds. Either way.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Shiro was a good concept, and an enjoyable fight, but otherwise seemed terrible in execution.
Then again, the story of Factions was kind of lacking in general in my eyes.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
The interesting thing about technological development in GW2 is how split-personality it can be. For example, in Sparkfly Fen, you have an event at one end of the map where you have to use basically medieval technology (trebuchets) to sink a Risen ship, and at the other end of the map, as we all know, the Vigil have a huge laser emplaced to defend against Tequatl.
Honestly, its one of the things that’s kind of frustrating.
With the way Asuran tech works, it’s kind of hard to be impressed by any of the Charr war machines and kind of confusing how it hasn’t become more prominent.
Then again, the Asura are basically 1980s Donatello, so I don’t think I’d really like them taking the spotlight any more than they already do.

The home instance could have been this, and supposedly was going to be improved upon early on, but you see what that’s become… Honestly, some of them feel rather half-hearted in even the initial design, let alone any improvements or advanced features.
So, yeah… Not sure if the HoM itself will be brought back (at least any time before the Jormag expansion), but they should either completely reimplement home instances or cut their losses on those and give us a new personal instance to utilize. Perhaps a monument accessible through the mists?

I don’t think anyone expects the game now, since it’s not done…
How it’s supposed to work (or generally does at least is)
1) Pre-purchase physical copy. You only get a code at the moment that unlocks the pre-purchase item, and which will allow you to download and play the expansion up through a few days post-release.
2) On ‘release’ (or a couple of days prior to get it to you by that date if they want to be nice), your boxed copy gets shipped. That contains the base assets and files the needed for the expansion. There will probably be immediate updates to that honestly, but this could potentially help alleviate the loading for those interested in that.
Personally, I don’t care about installing from disk. I just want to own a hard copy.

I can’t really remember any personal story elements related to profession… Race, yes, but profession?
I’m pretty sure the main reason it never happened is because if it were a freely-available feature, it would cut into character slot sales, and making profession ‘expansion’ a gem-store item is more work that they feel it’d be worth.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
I would love it if one character could freely switch. That was one of the main draws to FFXIV for me (controller support being the only other which it can still boast). I leveled other characters here mainly to open up some of the other achievements, but I really only want to ever have to play on my main.
I’d also like to have access to all armour skins on my main, but unless ANet wants to figure out another solution to that, I’m stuck with cinched trenchcoats (cinchcoats?).
It’s not personally a huge deal to me now since I still prefer Ranger to the other classes, but if one of the others gets an elite specialization with better long-range option(s), it will bother me more.

Hello!
As We know, right now we’re able to get pre-purchase boxed copy of HoT from our retailers, but how about boxed copies on release of HoT? Will it be also available?
In America, I’ve yet to see them available for order.
I want to Pre-purchase. I want a boxed copy.

I have a hunch that the new humanoid Mordrem, such as those we saw in the beta, might be a little more intelligent than the current Mordrem, or the “This one, kill” Risen. Might make them a little more interesting. Jury’s still very much out.
The ‘intelligence’ is what ruined them for me.
(Because it’s requisite to specify this on forums, the following is my opinion).
Risen should not be saying, “Death Good”; they should have no opinion on death, nor any thoughts whatsoever. They should just be tools to spread Zhaitan’s influence, and he himself should not be capable of thought in any way we can comprehend.
Of course, I also felt every elder dragon should have its own form of corruption distinct from the others:
Zhaitan: Infection: Controls the dead and infects the living, turning them into mindless carriers that exist only to spread the corruption further. No thought, no plan, no tactics, and certainly no anti-aircraft weapons. They just infect everyone and pass by like a wave.
Jormag: Zealousy: Intoxicates the living by revealing a sample of the power it can afford them causing them to willingly follow him until they become addicted and unable to think rationally.
Kralkatorrik: Domination: Those infected by its crystals may or may not be able to think on their own, but their actions are directly controlled by the dragon itself as it subverts their minds. Its actions indicate something of a plan, but it can only be observed at such a level that it is still impossible to predict.
Primordus: Destruction: It forms its minions from the earth itself, and thus has no use for the living. Rather than actually take them as part of its army, they merely exist to be copied, then destroyed.*
Bubbles: Not enough is known about it to be sure, but I could see fear or madness working well for it. ‘May the Skritt eat your eyes!’.
Mordremoth: Didn’t exist when I originally thought about all of that, but from what we’ve seen Madness would probably fit best with him, leaving Bubbles with Fear.
In any event, Zhaitan at least should not have had minions capable of vocalizing any level of intelligent thought. That mouth of Zhaitan needs to shut it.
The dragons as they currently exist simply don’t give me the sense of danger they did when I saw them as unknowable forces we would be unable to ever conventionally fight.
*This is one area I’m really disappointed in. Having the destroyers just be corrupted, living beings like all the other known Dragon minions kills their uniqueness… :-(

(edited by Dark Saviour.9410)
I’ve honestly lost almost all interest in the dragons themselves; once they stopped feeling like unpredictable forces of nature, they just end up kind of worthless to me.
As to where I’d like to go locale-wise though, either Cantha or the far, far east (unexplored lands).
Cantha I’m kind of torn on, as the main points I liked there were Echovald and the Jade Sea, and if those are mostly ‘normal’ again (though hopefully the old petrified trees still remain and there’s just new growth in Echovald), the region loses a fair bit of its appeal.
Plus, prior to the game, I was interested in a potential connection being drawn between Urgoz, his wardens, and the Sylvari, but I doubt they’ll even really acknowledge him now. :-/
Elona, I never really liked. Parts of Vabbi were decent, and I liked Palawa Joko… Well, I liked him more before the stupid Mad King quests, granted, but he’s still alright. But if Elona has turned into the craphole it supposedly has, the only thing I’m really interested there is possibly seeing some of the ‘Awakened’ sunspears.
Early on, I would have loved to revisit the Southern Shiverpeaks, but what we’ve seen of the region thusfar has kind of tempered that. I got almost no feelings of Nostalgia while hanging around Mount Maelstrom, so that was disappointing. Could still be alright though if they improve on that.
Ring of Fire would be fun as an extra, but its not big enough to carry a release on its own. Same for Isles of Janthir, but at least they’ve got more intrigue going for them.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Salvaging has gotten annoying to the point I’d almost rather pass up the loot most of the time. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely I’ll get near enough gold for the salvage-o-matic anytime soon, so I’ve got to deal with the obnoxious basic salvage kits for now (still less clicking than deleting everything).

I can probably tell you why there is sudden increase in bags.
Looking at the changes in Silverwastes and Dry Top even rewards it seems quite likely that their Bouncy Chest™ UI is not very flexible when it comes to extra currencies as they had to add all these “takes effect immediately upon receipt” bags for geodges and bandit crests (ie. the root cause is the item to currency conversion for most instances).
Why the spirit shard bag is “clickable” is difficult to say however.
Silverwastes is kind of weird in that if you just show up and do an event, when you click the chest you see a bag as a reward, yet when you click ‘OK’, it just deposits the crests directly, yet if you are at the point where you are getting bonus crests, you will see both a bag and a number of crests as the reward, and clicking OK puts the crests in your wallet and the bonus bag in your inventory (also annoying).
