Yes mesmer can deal damage, Guess what they’re riding the wind by their shorts, the reason they don’t die instantly when you decide to auto attack them is because of a couple of seconds of invulnerability, could you imagine a skill like blurred frenzy without the blurred on a low hp low defense low mitigation character?

Mesmer would be RDPS only.

I don’t, you never have to actually run anything, but people will get mad if you don’t.
I feel ostracized for not playing how others want me to, and/or failing to run a mechanic I’m not good at exploiting. I didn’t roll mesmer to be point defender-lite at all times.

Mesmer is a strong offensive class with decent mobility, even without portal we still have access to 12 seconds of swiftness and a teleport every 8 seconds.

I’m not encouraging portal to be nerfed, but I couldn’t care less if it does.

I like current mesmer mobility with my focus… I’m fine with it… Buffs are nice, but may not be necessary if other classes are brought in line (D/D Ele)

I don’t know.. I’m terrible at portal, but it essentially allows you to be in two places at once, ever minute and a half…

You not only have to be watching the node icon at all times, but keeping the cooldown in your head.. and sometimes it just outright fails for no reason(Possibly a meter or two distance makes the difference)

I hate the portal because I feel like people force me to play it, I don’t like playing it it’s not fun for me, and this is why I generally don’t play in teams with a matron/patriarch figure.

I personally hope it’s nerfed, given to other professions or altogether deleted.

I’m mobile enough as it is, I have a focus, I have good swiftness uptime, I don’t need to give up nullfield for a gimmicky ability which allows people to get me to half health before the fight begins unless I pop distortion prior to entering, and then get destroyed by a thief.

Yea increasing the CD and making the range less then 1500(Seems like you can go to the other side of the middle ground of foefire which feels like it’s bigger then 1200) would probably work..

It feels like certain skills like the warrior’s Greatsword charge/ Ele RTL were made with having a target in mind, slightly evidenced by them just bugging out once in a while and getting random targets…

Yes this would be a pretty big change, but I think RTL was never meant as a escape mechanism, but as a gap closer..

You’d still have the other escape mechanisms, RTL isn’t op by itself, it’s when you combine it with things like blazing speed, and like 15 seconds of swiftness it’s just too good..

Mindwrack is very strong as is, but when compared to the thief or warrior who can effectively pick targets and drop them in a team fight, the mesmer’s clones (his main source of fodder for MW) from mechanics such as deceptive evasion can choose to MW other targets, leading to ineffective DPS whenever there is more then one person to kill..

If this was changed and mesmers in team fights would be able to concentrate their dps better mindwrack would need a serious rework.

I don’t think shadow’s refuge is so bad when you have a mesmer with focus or a guardian with a greatsword to pull.

Mesmer has a NOT SO SUBTLE 100% tell for clones making mesmer tricks pretty impossible against anyone who knows it.

The Smoke under their feet after they uninvis.

Why is this intended? What’s the point of clones if they never actually work as distractions on anyone above rank 20. I can understand tells from Skill animations dodges and heals, but why an instant tell that works 100% of the time?

I’m not asking for a buff here, I believe this is a bug that needs to be fixed as it destroys the class mechanic of the mesmer, unless you believe the only build mesmer has is shatter.

The norn football mode was semi capture the flag… I kinda liked it?.. you had a whole set of skills to play that though haha just like wintersday.

I’m liking the idea of custom arenas, and with paid tournies to finance them it’s pretty great for people who play paid and win, while at the same time allowing people to just straight up buy them.

Looking forward to the new patch, Anet is doing a great job.

Ele is pretty disgusting right now.. I’m not saying they need to nerf them, but maybe slightly tweak things like RTL to NOT go across the map whenever you feel like it, maybe make it require a target?

I like the fact that they have the ability to stay up and put out crazy stustained dps there should be classes which don’t work like the thief/warrior “big burst” “dies quick” but the combination off surviveability/dps/mobility is pretty crazy and alot of this damage is AOE.. I’m hoping theyre talking about the ele/warrior(greatsword) when they’re saying they’re tweaking AoE damage..

I keep hearing this argument, pve =! Pvp, why would they make pvp rewards an easy 5 day grind like pve?.. PvP ranks show your hard earned skill, PVE rank means nothing.

I have no idea what tokens you’re talking about, maybe paid tournament tickets? for paid tournaments?

Pick a 0/10 server and set up camp.. most people will leave you alone if you ask nicely, and if they don’t just zerg them down till they leave.

I don’t have a screenshot, so I guess you can take my evidence as anecdotal, but I had full hp18k coming out of blurred frenzy next to the engi and insta dropped to 2k hp before I could hit distortion.

I have not had this experience, I’ve found plenty of games with people willing to duel.
but I only go into sPVP when the tourny que is taking too long.

It’s all about fun and opportunity cost. It would make the game much for fun for a large chunk of the sPvP playerbase, and it wouldn’t take too much time on the developers part. Win/win.
Edit: A 1v1 is the most challenging skill practice you can have, it makes you a better player when you get into team fights because you know how to hold your own instead of always having to rely on a teammate (and instead have that as a choice), and in a 5v5 with big maps you actually do have 1v1s a lot.

Disgustingly OP burst in what looks like 16k in 0.1 seconds , is this a legit build ? I’ve seen this twice now… Makes warrior/thief burst look like it takes skill.

As kasma says, if you haven’t tried tournament pvp you’re missing out on the actual skill based pvp, try it out and then make angry posts on the forums.

You know it says a lot about a game if the biggest concern in pvp you have is lack of “duels”

You can just go to another room if a), You can find a room or 5 at the bottom of the server list where people are dueling a lot of people duel b)

Because the game is team based, and you want to it to cater to your specific wants, maybe it will someday but it’s not a big deal for the rest of us, we can just join a server and find people to duel c)

I play a shatter mesmer, I have been doing it for 34 ranks, I don’t usually have a problem 1v1 but I have a big problem with highly skilled elementalist(40+) players, ones who play balanced, are able to heal through my dps and dps me right back pretty fast.

My setup is Staff+s/p, 20 20 0 0 30, portal/Decoy/Mirror/Timewarp and I am consistently beaten by high level(40+) d/d Elementalists

maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

Again; I will reiterate; IF you want to Change the meta (The current status quo of team comps) It is up to you to do this not the devs. Start running different strategies destroy the status quo by instating a new one.

Why is it that players always want devs to intervene in changing the meta?
If you want to change the meta start running a nonmeta comp and destroying these other teams, It is up to you to change the meta not the devs.

The problem is you’re afraid, you’re afraid of thinking outside of the box of trying new things and you blame it on a single class or even a single ability which you deem OP. There was a recent post on using non meta comps crushing in Paids, I suggest you look it up.

Dear Sky, It seems your understanding of the sPVP mode is flawed as far as I can tell from the things you say, there are no “random” characters or “gift” characters you use your own character, which you design, equip build and use in any way you like from Gear to traits to strategy, if you are refering to the build each character starts out with that’s merely to get people who’ve never played pvp into pvp quicker, you don’t have to actually use the presets.

I wish clones would ignore Z axis altogether it seems like clones have a real problem of pathing down a 2 foot high cliff, a fast enough player can keep clones chasing him by exploiting terrain for quite a long time if he has stability at the right times..

Make them flying “Ride the lightning” orbs or something which fly towards their targets at moderate speeds.

Sometimes a thief will heartseeker me after I stealth mid dodge, SEEMS a little strange, that I popped two forms of damage mitigation, and still get crit for 7k, I realize this was my error, but it still feels a bit off.

Slowclap, was fun to watch and an interesting match up, I wish good players posted more so the forums wouldn’t be super dominated by QQ.

Some balance changes are needed immediately like the change which buffed shattered strength being reverted, do you want to get destroyed for a month or two by 0 skilled players just jamming buttons because of a bad call in balance? no? Then you have to agree some balance changes are required before fixes.

On that note, some bug fixes are balance changes….

I think the idea is to allow them to live long enough to allow you to shatter them…
I don’t really use signets or anything else which could be used to pick my mesmer out of the herd.. but this one seems like it almost may be worth it. I already use the shatter recharge trait though so it may be superfluous

Pvp community is fine, ques are fast even at ridiculous times like 3am-5am not sure why the lie that no one plays pvp is being propagated on the forums, but I guess if you read these forums for long enough you’ll believe anything.

Bad RNG? I believe you have to use different orders in the combine…. or at least this has seemed to work for me, or maybe I’m just lucky

if timewarp is in need of a nerf it’s in tpvp not pve or Pve Plus. .
You have separate skills in PVE+ for a reason you’re not actually playing Pvp.

Timewarp is crazy good, if you slot it out for mass invis or even moa you’re bad, and you should feel bad end of story, it doesn’t matter if there’s another mesmer running Timewarp or if you can’t bother to switch weapons and summon more phantasms, but rather hurr durr for 8 seconds auto attacking. Slot it, and Use it.

People used to cry about Moa, now it’s gutted but still useable
Even then when it was “Op”, I never slotted moa, you know why? Using Moa to win 2v1 is kitten compared to winning the game after hastily-crushing a whole team at mid twice.

Timewarp = One big win on a node, it could be a 2v3 3v3 4v4 3v4 and that’s huge in a tournament, you basically redefined the course of the game (Usually TWICE during a game) with one button!

Timewarp can fail, your team might be kitten I don’t use voip to tell my teammates, So it’s not OP! You can drop Confusion/+retaliation so the other team feels bad while haste stomping and quick rezzing!

One ability on a large cooldown well timed or not, should never be a redefining point in combat for a team based game.

Time warp needs a nerf, and mesmer needs a variety of versatile elite skills not a One-elite-to-rule-them-all , and _Not in seperate patches__

Bro.. bro, They made it so easy to get Full paid gear I don’t even know what you’re crying for.. You want Inquest/Orrian/etc? Do the Pvp daily/monthly that’s 41 tickets for pvping for literally 2 hours a day, or 8 chest runs per month, pick out the gear you want do your 8 chest runs Salvage it up, get some sliver together and you too can look like a pimp like all the other chestrunners.

Not really sure what auto attacking has to do with it, Getting 2-3 phantasms out and doing your burst in half the time is pretty good though.

I don’t know I have faith in the devs ability to discern QQ from legitimate game breaking issues…. they’re doing a lot well in the balance department imho.. just look at thieves ..

Maybe something along those lines, I would love a passive speed boost and I think it would make the game as a whole more fun to not have 10 seconds of aoe Haste PERMANENT SKILL ON BAR.

Timewarp is a bit OP ….. 10 seconds of AoE haste? Come on, what’s the counter for hasted stomps and rezes?

I honestly don’t see the other mesmer elites as viable in spvp when compared to timewarp….

I’d love it if I could timewarp for 5 seconds and have half the cooldown….

Every single time I’ve played these wonderful fps games there’s always ATLEAST one guy ruining voip by being a belligerent kitten

If you turn your voip off you’re hurting your team you have to either mute or kick the kitten and then hope the next guy is normal, people rage way too much in pickup games already, just check out map chat, I don’t want to hear scrub player x telling scrub player z why his build is kitten and 4 signets is a terrible idea or raging after someone fails to stomp and then I have to listen to him for the rest of the game.

public voip opens up a can of worms for the company; do we Moderate voip? if so how; who’s going to pay for massive voip servers; New security problems etc etc

I don’t want to be singled out for not using terrible services, but I pug a lot, and I’m sure people would start singling me and others like me out for not using public Voip.

Skype it’s free, there’s no setup and there’s no kitten check like in mumble.
