If it is time for thanking then I have too many to make, so I’ll just say a few:
The elementalist community. The only reason why I have kept posting on these forums is because I truly enjoy discussing theory with my fellow element wielders. Thank you all. A quick browse through the forums of other classes shows that we are evidently the best community
. I must bring forth the names of our great companions along who I have had the pleasure of providing guidance: Neko, Daphoenix, and more recently DEKeyz.
The Retaliate[rT] guild. The best of the best. Spearheaded by the almighty Sanderinoa, they have constantly promoted clever gameplay and excellence. Playing alongside rT members is what has given me my will to achieve more and never settle for less. In all my lengthy gaming life I had never encountered such extraordinary individuals. I highly recommend anyone to ambition to join them, as the experience is enriching on so many levels.
Finally there is someone without who none of this would have been possible. When I first arrived on these forums there was little theorycrafting available, so I wrote the first version of my guide. I was very inexperienced. But what I wrote was unusual enough to be noticed by a man known to few, the dark lord: Haviz. His mentoring is what led me to develop my guide. Although his powers are only matched by his lack of tact
, any self-respecting elementalist should carefully listen to his advice.
Eh well, I like to be pompous. Anyway, even when the environment was hostile, it has been a lot of fun!
This is the end of my guide.

We used to have fractals 50-80 and less AR before, that was a true challenge.
Now in order to test ourselves we must do level 50 with less than 5 people and no guardians. Some people like to solo too
Do carry on to level 50 though, it is still the only enjoyable “end game” experience in GW2.
EHP is not ignored by conditions, only armor is, wich is just one factor comprised in the EHP
Anyway this is good but eh, remember my build analysis oZii? Good old times when Daphoenix was around and I was modest
If you die at Jormag then you are not ready for PvE
In case it wasn’t clear that I am a pretty casual player, I am. For someone who wrote such a lengthy guide, your answer is pretty useless and dismissive.
Somtimes I am bad
In all seriousness going range can be double edged as you will never learn how to deal with the challenges of being melee. This is detrimental since you need to be in melee to be most efficient.
Anyway, you should never use a scepter in PvE apart for might stacking before conjuring LH; although I would advise to use a D/F build instead.

Hey guys remember the last time they added content? That was last november, with the Fractured patch!
Oh wait
Actually that is when they removed content. Fractals 50-80 #neverforget
Ticket number 429162
Has been ignored for two months
I have also a myriad of other tickets that have been neglected, it is a very recurrent fact for my account and I would appreciate if that could change. In the past I complained in the forums about my email being blacklisted from Anet, I got a very dishonnest response from a community coordinator that asserted me of the opposite. Yet the fact that my tickets have been ignored for two months proves me right.
Hey Gaile, I submitted a number of tickets on my other account and many many of them have been ignored, despite having received the reception message …
I’m talking about a two months time neglect!
You should add a “This is absolutely doable” bonus 100 points
It’s black market trade. it’s unfortunate but it’s to be expected I guess.
I’d love so much if a game came out and made being a Mercenary part of the game. Let people hire eachother out for tasks =).
Capitaliiiiist!!!
I basically only play with both hands when I need to move and use skills at the same time. If I stand still, I usually take one hand back, usually it being inactive.
As for rubiks cubes, not as much now as I used to. My limits were around the 9-10 second mark, without putting extensive amounts of time into practise. Around that, motivation began dropping, but I still solve them once in a while. Back to ~20 seconds, though.
Yeah I can imagine, long breaks do that, but don’t despair: your performance time will certainly recover quickly with practice. Also, to treat the lack of motivation, have you ever considered that maybe you aren’t into cubes anymore? Try experimenting with a rubiks sphere, people do that nowadays and it is considered equal in many countries
So could you do a GL duo all by yourself with your hands on two computers?
Is it me or you rarely play with both hands Dub?
Like those time when you beat arah speed records and then we can see you lagging and mouslicking on your PoV “Hey, guess how much faster we could have been with both hands!?”
You must really love rubiks cubes
I get dungeons paths for free because I’m friend with Dub :p
We have not yet recorded the animation times for the Trident so all I can give you is based on estimations, but luckily the idea is pretty simple: Cycle everything, spam the damaging stuff!
So essentially:
Air
1-Forked Lightning
Fire (swap during the cast)
2-Boil
Air
1-Forked Lightning (four times)
Water
2-Ice Globe
3-Ice Wall & Detonate (may not be worth it on single targets, we need the cast times for this)
Air
1-Forked Lightning (five times)
Earth (swap during cast)
2-Rock Spray
Air
2-Electrocute
1-Forked Lightning (three times)
The number of air AA required to meet FA’s cd may be refined with more accurate data.
and of course PUG means Please Unerf Guildwars
The members of each class community have been so desperate after being hit by nerfs that they reached out to other classes’ communities and thus they found out that it was not their class specifically that had been nerf but the game as a whole. True story.
Sell, or S.E.L.L, or a creative ordination of L.E.S.L which stands for
Lingering Elements Super Lackluster
Basically a lot of people in the LFG tool are very angry at the state of the elementalist trait called Lingering Elements and they are trying to raise global awareness on this issue.
Also 6/6/2 is one of the best spec for underwater combat. Not that anyone does any of that, but just for your information
Want more interesting facts?
Burning speed’s range is not the 600 indicated in the tooltip. In fact it is closer to 400 and may be reduced or augmented with a number of factors that are hard to control for.
This matters because it means it is possible to swap to fire and land Sun spot before casting burning speed and hitting your target with the blast. Well you know, just one more reason why 6/6/2 D/F was always superior those LH builds
On a side note, I have been asking the devs to provide detailed real tooltips for a very long time. What I mean by this is that the cast time listed on the tooltips does not reflect the time your character will spend casting the spell at all. This is particularly important because it affects the perceived power of a lot of spells. Furthermore, cooldowns only start at the end of all casting animations for a spell, not just the time listed in the tooltip. These are some reasons why Anierna and Guanglai could never get their theorycrafting right :p Anyway the devs are not listening, so people carry on with their lives in ignorance …
Yes, I did.
Burning speed’s evade time is 0.75s while the animation time for the spell is about 0.9s. Therefore there will be a short time lapse (likely at the beginning of the animation) where you are not evading.
I have not yet tested to record the delay time before the evade starts. I’m quite inactive nowadays, but I’m sure someone like DEKeyz will find the time to delve into that
That’s pretty awesome
One remark though: is it constrained to “meta” TC or can we talk about anything?
And yet, staff requires the team to support you (might, fury, and vulnerability) in order to deal its damage.
Did you know that a good D/F rotation against a wall deals more damage than staff, if you exclude Meteor Shower, due to burning speed’s trail stacking?
but wouldn’t you be using FGS against a wall? does this calculation take into staff #4 (admittedly a bit clunkier to use).
and before anyone says otherwise, there ARE some times where you simply can’t channel a meteor shower (or at least complete the channel).
Nope, I didn’t include burning retreat either.

Staff builds are extremely niche and should not be used unless the player knows exactly what he is doing.
Yes of course Strength runes are better than Ruby Orbs.
I think that DEKeyz is doing a very good job at guiding elementalists towards efficient choices in her awesome thread, therefore me continuing to update my guide would just be redundant.
I have always put emphasis on the mind process that lead me to construct my builds. I believe that such philosophical approach is essential because it enables players to understand how to best deal with any kind of situation, not just the “meta”. However, now, we can switch templates at will so there is no need for the one build that rules them all. For this reason, DEKeyz’s global and practical approach has become very valuable. Arguably, though, players do not become excellent until they have perfectly assimilated the philosophical concepts.
They are all useless in PvE.
As for Elemental Contingency I fail to understand how Anet could come to think it would be appreciated: the players have expressed times and times again their dislike for this kind of mechanic.
For PvE full zerk is the way to go.
Hey there, I am Zelyhn. I am using a friend’s account because my main account has been permanently banned from these forums.
Unless the moderators un-blacklist my email and allow me to appeal, at least, then there is no chance that I will be able to update my thread.
This is a shame because the feature patch brought about a lot of interesting changes. Maybe in the future I will start this thread anew.
