Some seasons we are enthusiastic for records some not. It comes and goes. SC wasnt very active last season, very active this one. Last season we did a lot, this season we haven’t cared to do any.

Well it’s hard to say! On the one hand their rhetoric is irresistible, on the other hand …

I really can’t stand the Ice Bow 4 meta!

- Its unintended DPS trivialises content
- It gives you health and you can cast it at range so there is no risk involved
- Its animation and design completely break the immersion
- It has a very short cooldown, which is unfair
- Classes other than elementalists can not access it more than the good-old FGS
- An elementalist wielding IB4 is still better than IB4 casted by a warrior :(
- It generates vulnerability faster than engineers :(
- I was always a fan of Gimli, now we’re stuck playing Legolas :(
- “44444444444444444444 for the win”

Obviously Anet needs to adress this burning issue before adding content to the game!
Obviously a nerf of IB4 would attract new players and bring back those who are long gone!

Sure, because you need ele for perma-Fury. But much like you only need one warrior for banners you only need one ele for fury.

Let’s see if I can give a go at this:
You only need one thief for stealth
You only need one ranger for spotter
You only need one guardian for reflects
You only need one mesmer for portal
You only need one engi to prove that Guang was wrong
You only need one necro to show that Anet does not care about PvE

As much as I agree with you I must say that when I first wrote about the D/F build for PvE many people were like “nah, it sucks dude”, I even had a few rage-posts from the lovely Anierna <3, but look how far my build has come now (all modesty aside) ^^

- 5 target limitation instead of the usual 3
- 400 range
- long burn
- Better damage than most suboptimal auto-attacks

So basically it is a filler for when you are stuck in fire for some reason and have nothing else to cast. It is useful in solo to generate long burns if your other fire spells and procs are not giving you an optimal burning uptime. It is also used for close-range kiting.

I propose the trick of abusing icebow, meteor shower, glyph of storms, smite and similar skills like this to be called ‘pain rain’.

If you switch blasting staff on or off after casting affected spells, their cooldowns are reset in pvp; so you can have two eruptions in a row to blast the same fire field for example.

You can even do “better” than that with the blasting staff abuse

Not at all.. you can just compute rotations and leave out buffs like OP asked for, it’s really easy to do. My publicly available calculator can do that, for elementalists. I’m sure Keyz or Frifox have accurate values for most classes. Just ignore Guang, he talks a lot but he has no clue

Get a clue … I know how damage works I wrote an entire PvE ele guide! Anyway when I say base damage I mean damage without much might nor crit or vuln, but with gear runes and traits. Taking this into account, again, Fire Grab will hit for 900 or 1500 on burning targets.

It’s an extremely poorly designed spell and it needs to be looked at.

Compare Fire Grab to Eviscerate for example, you’ll just end up facepalming yourself to death.

Which both have shorter cooldown and waaaaaayyyyy more chances to connect than Fire Grab

And firegrab hits for 900 or 1500 on burning targets.

Of course you can increase that damage with might and crit, but the base damage is very low especially considering its terribly designed mechanic and outrageously long cooldown.

I play the usual D/D ele in pvp, getting close to top tier, and well I am getting really annoyed by something:

The Tropical Bird’s attacks (rune of the pirate) deal more damage than a Fire Grab on burning targets.

And that is, when Fire Grab connects, which is close to never.
