I was in Kessex Hills working on my dailies/leveling a low level toon when map chat exploded with people yelling at others because they weren’t letting an event fail (I.E. doing the event). I jump in, totally not sure what’s going on and pick a fight with the loudest and rudest person in map chat, as time goes on people explain why they want the event to fail but are still unforgiving of people doing the event.
While I understand that certain events give more rewards than others, this doesn’t really seem to be right. Having the rewards improved so much, that people are purposely failing the events to trigger is a problem. Having the rewards improved so much that people are openly and as a group attacking the individuals who are doing the events (as intended) is a Really big problem.
One of the comments in Map chat was that this is common practice in Orr as well, got me kind of curious… Is this mob mentality really accepted into the PvE meta? Or was this just an isolated incidence of a rotten batch of apples?

~Background information (I wvw full time, but have recently been branching out so this was a serious shocker to me. However I suppose I want to know if it’s something I’ll just have to get used to or ignore. ) Don’t think it matters because of MegaServer but I"m on SBI.

For Ele’s when they weapon swap the trait responds according to the weapon switched too.
~not trolling, changing elements triggers as weapon swap on sigils so it counts as weapon swap.

2nd. Why are you going after map completion the answer is LI’s if it wasn’t you wouldnt be complaining (if it was for the satisfaction then PvE would be enough for you.) If you want the legendary then: shut up and show up, they were meant to be a pain in the kitten. If you enjoyed everything except wvw map completion, congrats the rest of us (namely wvwer) had to suffer through PvE map completion, dungeons, and
mat farming.

Actually they can’t, because they aggro on the mobs instead of aggroing on the yak. Also, wildlife doesn’t spawn on Borderland maps, so caravan just walk past sentries.

I still think they should change the sentry guard for the human scout instead of the charr (Ranged guard oposed to the melee one) so it can kill a undefended yak (The major issue for the melee guard is that he stand still doing his 3 hit combo while the yak walk away). Other than that, it doesn’t really need a change.

Personally I think they should randomized… Killing the same charr or human enough times is boring…

@OP I like the idea, but ultimately sentries are meant to be solo objectives that most uplevels can take. While my 80’s might welcome this new challenge it would make my level 30 necro quake in her boots.

If you can’t find them at the tailor try the other craft people, if they don’t. I know the crafting vender in your home BL in the middle of all the crafting stations will have them.

Joking aside gems probably are your best bet, they’re only going to introduce more skins and things to buy so the price will only go up or at least float with gold.

Zerg busting is a beautiful thing, it really is. However it is something most people struggle with (by definition if every zerg could zerg bust then we’d be in a paradox of awesome fights)

Ironically, I just transferred to stormbluff (leaving a lousy server behind.) However I agree that transfering is a temporary solution at best for most people, largely because people transfer for numerous reasons but there’s only one thing held constant. Wvw: no matter what server you’re on I might see you at teq tonight, I can still join your guild, and I can still run dungeons with you. (World events, social aspects, and PvE) However if I’m still willing to pay for a server transfer when all of that is readily available I must be an active wvwer.
Unfortunately with the lack of care (or change in general if we assume anet does care) we’ve been shown over the years wvw is starting to lose its edge.

So I recently (last night) I started farming luck through the TP and over 700 salvage kits later my TP is still floating at 100 items for pick up (soft cap).
I’m just curious if anyone has tips for managing the TP’s pick up function, to managing the now 500 processed leather in my spare bank (about 200 in collections). Any tips for farming the luck are also welcome although I pretty much found out salvaging blues is the cheapest way (white seems to drop very little if any luck) (and greens are more expensive than blues although I don’t know if it drops more luck.)

BTW I agree that they could reset personal story and even racial skills. But how would it work for someone on their level 70 quest? food for thought

In addition to the quote above they’ve been restricting new accounts since launch to prevent gold sellers and the like. If it doesn’t go away with a certain level it will go away after your account is old enough it was 30 days at one point idk if that’s been changed or not. (That was originally for a slightly different thing but similar enough that it’s probably related.

I like it, but it’s a lot of work and unfortunately not likely to happen.

Except I just picked up ranger for the first time in two years (my first 80) and didn’t feel useless.
This is how anet balance works, go from being a joke to being god moded in a single patch. If you’re really leaving, fare well and good luck, if not wait for the next balance patch and someone else will become Ebola worthy

That’s not the definition of a grey market. The reason why it’s not encouraged is extremely different than the reason why it’s a grey market.

And I have done/do my fair share of grey market trading.

Yep, you get taxed twice but at two separate times for two different reasons.
Think of it like the TP is trying to make money: you pay a 5% fee just to use their service to find a buyer then they charge you a commission for the sale. I just explained this to a guildy yesterday if you post an item (at the time it was frostfang) at your price you pay a 5% fee upfront, if it sells you get the 5% back with your money you just lose the 10%. It’s similar to a security deposit they hold your 5% to make sure you don’t pull the item down and leave them with nothing. ( of course it has some implications for keeping prices more stable because you lose 5% every time you alter the price.)
You actually get 90% of your selling price from the TP, but you only make 85% profit.

I think we can all see the prices for mats (mostly cloth, although I’m sure leather is increasing as well). Obviously wood are ore can still be farmed because of the static nodes. However I’ve been struggling to find a decent way to get linen/wool/cotton/etc…
After doing a little research I found a few ways of farming them but it still seems slow so I’ll ask here if any of you guys have any better ways or tips on improving these options both for me and anyone else out there hunting for cloth at level 80.
A) Karma venders with the appropriate level of gear, toss in forge and salvage what comes out.
B) Farm humanoids in the level area for the lootbags and open them for a chance of the cloth
C) Open champion bags on appropriate level characters, salvage for cloth
D) Buy gear of the appropriate level and salvage.
Any help is appreciated

I’m sorry that you enjoy leveling but unfortunately (for you) most of us don’t. I like your solution except I have 4 scrolls of level 20 sitting in my bank that explain why they won’t make this change.
As for the down scaling… I’d rather they do it all the way (actually on par with players in the area) or not at all (too late now but still)

A) scoring is irrelevant instead of bad, upgrades do not boost coverage advantages, coverage is no problem at all, manpower imbalance is easier to fix, as you don’t have communities that start crying against any change.
B) i did played it less often so far. And commanding a Zerg – that to a large extend does not do what you like – successfully is more demanding than commanding people that do what you want. Commanding by chat and lamp only than by voice is more difficult as well.
C) many BoH to buy siege, many exp to get the skill points to upgrade the siege, many champ bags to get the gold to pay upgrades in WvW

A) we might have to agree to disagree on this point. Simply because you’re right, but I just don’t know if irrelevant is better than bad. The man power thing isn’t really a problem either though except that it is almost always on one side. (Which your first post addresses).
B) If we’re talking about commanding then I will concede this point as well. I love commanding off mic, however I usually run militia on borderlands. I suppose on a larger server you might be expected on mic all the time which makes Eotm the only place for map chat commanding.
C) Even on this point I misunderstood you, (hence the comment about support pack). Although you’re right a lot of gold comes from eotm and goes straight into wvw, I think that’s a wvw problem that we need our money to come from somewhere else (although its better than it used to be). However I would still wager more of our gold comes from the tp than eotm. Badges on the other hand well yea those come from eotm.

Please don’t ever forget that GW2 is buy2play, like GW1 was. Devs don’t HAVE TO give us free content, but they choose to do so.

If you can’t play the LS, just log in a second and forget about it until you are able to play through it. If you can’t log in at all, 200 gems isn’t that big of a deal, imo.

Actually… They do Have to give us content (or at least a reason to stay). Because most of us aren’t Ok farming precursors the rest of our lives.

a) is less broken than WvW
b) less stale as WvW after 2 years without change.
c) helps to finance WvW-playing
d) has people to play against all around the clock, a thing hardly found in WvW anymore outside T1.

A) how is it less broken? The big zerg will always win (exception being coordinated group which are fewer in eotm) Siege disablers still work, PvD commanders still reign supreme.
B) how is it less stale? This is a serious question cause idk how getting paired up against the tier 1 zerg repeatedly is more fun than a good ole 5v5.

I see no problem with the 1c incrementing. I actually get annoyed when people making sell listings undercut by far more than 1c. For example lets say I made a sell listing for 10s and then somone comes in and tosses up one for 5s and then right after than a bunch more add to that not caring to pay attention that the person way undercut (possibly not even people but bots adding to the huge undercut listing). Heck even way over bidding buy offers when they might as well just buy a sell listing if they don’t care how much they spend. For example lets say I put in a buy offer for 10s and the lowest sell listing is 25s and someone comes in and makes a buy offer for 20s and gets a bunch more people (or bots) adding to that now highest buy offer. These two cases drive me nuts. As those people can achieve the same end result simply by going 1c over or under or a slightly larger amount but not going by huge 30-50% up or down.

Maybe not quite that extreme, but if i’m trying to buy something I do it in chunks. In fact I have spent hours sometimes screwing with bids after I continually got outbid by one copper for a few minutes- so then I started doing bids in super random quantities, sometimes leaving my old bid up, sometimes not. It was fun and I’d like to think I kittened off the 1 copper person assuming it wasn’t a bot. My philosophy is if you are going to continually outbid me by 1 copper, then you will pay (a lot) more in the end. Of course I never go above what I’m willing to pay… it can be fun

If you don’t want to swap out all your gear I’d suggest like the post above. Add the focus and don’t be afraid to use the earth reflect/invuln. (I don’t know much about D/D though so if you’re in doubt try some earth traits for the toughness.)

It’s not even close to P2W guys, at least not as close as everyone thought Ascended gear was when it came out. There’s the obvious “Well I can buy it with gold!” option which sucks, and is really unreasonable for you to make enough gold in wvw to cover the conversion rate but it still makes it fair. Then you have the “But it provides an advantage”, but does it really? If you die against someone quickly, then you’re just going to die slightly slower or deal more damage before you go.

Imho the price is not the issue. The issue is still that you can buy more power(with irl currency) in a game mode that is pvp focused.

It should be an issue, I suppose, but it’s been there since day one and has never been a problem.

It’s entirely due to price, though. Whoever sets the prices of one-use consumables on the BLTC needs a serious reality check. If they sold keys for a tenth of the price, they’d probably sell hundreds of times more.

It really isn’t and shouldn’t be an issue though… It goes back to the argument about whether guild wars is P2W because of ascended gear/Legendary. Sure I can buy the gold to buy the legendary/ level crafting, etc… but there are ways of getting them in game…
Plus I don’t know any one in WvW who actually uses the boosters in their vaults… Maybe the MF one.

Black lion weapon scraps and Keys… What does this have to do with WvW? I mean, we’re grateful that you guys finally decided we deserve to have cool skins too but you’re giving us access to literally skins that the PvE community has had for months, if not over a year.

Wxp boosters- Idk, maybe I’m alone on this but I feel like these would be worth more and more appreciated if it wasn’t for the guy who hit max rank (either last week or the week before) on EoTM. It’s like your choosing to give us these to compensate for the fact that we can’t compete with their Karma train.

Primers and Boosts- I don’t know how much the total “Pack” costs, but is it really necessary to throw in things that I have dozens of sitting in my vault, likely just to drive up the price so that you can still say we’re getting a good deal on the ticket scraps.

Not really though cause this is exactly what I was looking for. Especially not a fan of D/D but S/F is awesome. Only comment though is if you’re spending too much time downed or dead geomancers alacrity will give you a decent uptime on survival skills.

This sounds great, but they probably won’t go anywhere near the runes. But upgrading currency would be awesome.

Idk why people are just realizing this but green always goes to the server more statistically likely to win.

Um… The problem (which won’t change because people have been asking for random color since launch) is that the color equals where you should finish the week. Green usually means you’ll take first.

If the population is as low as that, then you really, really don’t need to be upgrading anything.

So… I believe you do the achievement then next week talk to the historian (after reset). That is the part you have to claim, the tickets should last indefinitely. Hopefully that helps but I will read the post and see if I missed anything.

The problem here is that you’re trying to use a very old and very frail argument. Anet likes Rp and the lore is rich but it isn’t a key focus, and it shouldn’t be either. They don’t have enough resources to keep wvw,PvE, and PvP players happy unfortunately rp’ers are gonna come even after that.

Darko you must not be familiar with small servers if you think a lack here is a plus there. It’s usually more like “if we put all our guys in one map we might have half their zerg”

Wvw and PvE players don’t generally talk to each other much. At least outside of their guilds, and most large guilds have their own forums.

That could be I assumed they could but idk. My point was that we’re not the only class that can, we just do it better.
