Lets say my guild plays in BG, the next matchup is BGvJQvTC and my guild jumps in JQ and starts wasting every keep/tower supplys, destroys golems, gives intel on everything that JQ is doing… all that for free, no gem cost to tranfer. bad idea man.

You just missed the opportunity to do exactly this with a secondary account for 20€
You do not really need a guild for that a single little lvl 1 sweetie is enough. And accounts without char can transfer free already.

Nothing that is going to encourage people to scream at each other to “get away from me” will ever, nor should ever, be introduced.

That’s why I used the squad in the proposal.

The commander squad (the 40 that where there first) is not harmed by this debuffed, and therefore doesn’t need to scream. And the ones that appear later, can decide on their own if they want to stay with the debuff, or better build a second zerg that runs somewhere else.

really where do people keep getting the info that there are no qeues anymore in the game.
my server is in tier 3 atm and we had queues on all borders primetime on the weekends(13 minimal to 64 max on EB) and during the week usually 1 or 2 BL with queue when primetime starts. (EB has allways a queue in the evening so i wont count that)

Lol for that you don’t play very well against us, we have much less. We mostly had EB and 1 border usually home queue during weekend, around 20 at eb, around 5 at border

Anet’s stand seems more to be: Effort into WvW? No,why, it’s already perfect

40vs40 battle are mostly fine, but 60+vs60+ battles are to much for their engine.
Their support for them is lacking some performance

There are better ways of handlung cheater them ANets way.

E.g. Look at http://bans.wcfan.de
This is a privat group running some Counter Strike Servers and they do a Lot effort to keep Servers clean. This of course also means involving the community (submit demos) and giving feedback to actions chosen back to the community.

And kudos to Valve for making Source TV an inevitable tool to validate that someone was indeed hacking in this case.

  1. Remove all current server assignment
  2. setup 12 new WvW-teams (3 German 2-3 French, 0-1 Spanish, 6 English for EU)
  3. remove the general team assignment during login! instead ask only for an assignment when you go to WvW and do not have one.
  4. if you do not enter WvW during a match you loose your assignment

This way you make sure number of people assigned to a team corresponds to number of people that play for a team.

  1. if a team has a population of 110% of mean of all teams it is classified as full; 100-109% as high and it cost 500 gems to go there, below 100 medium and it’s free to go there.
  2. to switch server, you have to loose your assignment by a week of inactivity, such that you are asked to choose one.

Result: better filled and much better balanced teams than we have them today.

At the 12th sept. everyone should have a lamp on every char, so if one zerg is full, start the next.

I always heard (I was never there) that the reason to play Bronze is small rooming groups instead of mindless zerging. I cannot judge who is the majority in Bronze, but if you are right Filovirus, there is really no sense to keep 24/27 servers. (Even in T2 2 borders are usually mostly empty even in primetime)
12 teams in NA and in EU would be enough in that case.

If they run with more than X people, yes. (anyone above X if they run with tag as well.)

@Filovirus:

And none is punished for having numbers on the map. You are only punished if you bring all people on the mp into the same blob.

And yes, I never played in silver (maybe soon) nor bronze, but I heard quite often from people there: I don’t wan a be gold, because I don’t want these big blobs.

Here we are: blobs are punished if the grew to large.

And concerning tag briefing: 2-4 commander per map would finally start to make sense, and yes I am convinced that WvW would be better if that happens. More strategic choices and bettwe fights.

Concerning your wording: aggressive wording is only a very bad replacement for arguments.

Did it include the squad? It means: Come as one of the people below X and stay debuf-free, independent of how many come later, which I find important.

Squad size is limited to X (X = 40 in Gold (T1-3) and EotM, 25 in Silver (T4-6) and 15 in Bronze (T7+) ).
Every player not in the squad of a commander and not in 1500 radius of that commander and that has more than X players within radius of 1500 gets an unremoveable stacking-debuf (visible to any friend and fiend):

[Edit] Under the above condition, for every player above 40 around you, you loose 1% of your Vitality, Toughness and Healing Power

If you have 60 people around you and are not protected by squad-membership you loose

  • 20% Vitality
  • 20% Toughness
  • 20% Healing Power

If 2 commanders are within 1500 range the anti-stacking debut applies to them and their squad as well.

If you die with this debuf, you cannot be revived.

Random assignment to teams will not really generate Team-fealing.
Or did you ever feel as member of a team in EotM?
Another thing are languages. A language homogen team is my preference (german only in my case), the babylonian language mix on the mega-servers is a mess, I don’t want that in teamspeak.

And if you don’t feel as team member, you only feel like maximizing personal rewards.
That’s why EotM is like it is. And we do not need another EotM-Karma train now on the WvW maps. One is enough.

No this cannot be the solution it would destroy any team feeling.

Better adaptation to reduced manpower would be

  • less teams, e.g. Less servers or (better in my view) alliances
  • less time for a match, 24/2 or 8/7 or just 4h once a week
  • less map during off time
  • smaller maps, e.g. all fight for the control of. a single objective like a more complex SM

In EotM this happens to due the focus on personal rewards.

In WvW this happens due to the focus on points, you get more points for a server if you cap fast instead of “wasting time” with a fight.

I guess the reason is that we have nowadays to few people for to many map most of the time. Much worser than a year ago. My server has probably only around 50% of the manpower it had a year ago! and as we are still nearly the same place in ranking I guess it’s the same for all servers.

Transfers during season

Ok, let ANet earn money with transfers, but at least “cost-free” transfers MUST get an at least 1 week timeout.

Much to many people have more than 1 account. And if you do not have a charackter on your secondary account you do not have to pay for your transfer.

But you do not need more than a lvl 1 character to actively harm your opponents with

  • golem trashing by cliff-jumping
  • filling up the map
  • spying (many commanders like to have their second account on a notebook, where the map shows the opponent commanders movement)
  • wasting supplies
  • starting bad upgrades

Delete all chars, move to the dangerous opponent for free, sabotage him, and repeat till you won, is a to effective way to harm competitive WvW to be possible without any cost.

I guess a tournament where all this is possible without any limitation will give the support center and the moderators of this forum a lot of work

[Proposal] Scouting Rewards & Defense Control

Super Advanced Proposal Defense control

Defense Control can be choosen as upgrade after fortify tower/keep is done.

The defense control add a 1-2 panels to the lord room usable by scouts. If selected it presents a map of the objective with all unmanned siege (build-in like cannon/mortar as well as player-build like AC, treb, cata, …) marked by small icons.
All siege or all siege in a selection-rectange is also displayed in a list.

If clicked in this list or on the icon on the map the player display is like he using this siege, but instead of actually firing he can set “auto-fire” of this siege, i.e. the last shoot he did with that siege is repeated automatically as fast as cool down allows, e.g. a place where AC/cannons shot skill 1 wheneever it is available, amunition, direction and intensity of cata/treb/mortar and view direction for auto-targeting of ballistas using shoot 1. If he leaves the siege he is back to the control map/list, but as long as he does not leave the control pannel, all the sieges he visited are auto-firing with the given settings.

While a scout is using a defense control he does not get rewards from his commander, instead he gets all rewards produced by the siege auto-fire.

For players it looks like these sieges are manned by NPCs using them. They can take over, which stops auto-fire while it is player manned.

This should make the job of a scout more exiting & effective. And PvD of a zerg against a single (or double) scout a bit more demanding.

Advanced Proposal

Auto siege refresh: Any player currently using a placed siege can use the new skill “6” of that siege to enable/disable auto-refresh of that siege, i.e. if auto-refresh is on the decay timer remains at 1 hour.

New Upgrades:
*Sensor doors
*Sensor walls

Sensor doors/walls can be choosen as upgrade as soon as doors/walls are reinforced (T1/T2).

The sensor doors/walls upgrade integrates a “EotM sentry turrets” into any destructable wall/door such that any player on the map (or to make it less effective: only any scout on the map or only any scout registered for that objective) could see marked enemies in range of that wall/door on the map similar to a enemy in the range of a “EotM sentry turrets”. Any wall/door below 100% health will show it’s health percentage as a small number.

This should make the job of a scout more effective.

Problem:
Scouting and awaiting an attack that rearely happens is a boring and not rewarding job for any player, but a very important job to make WvW interesting. This proposal tries to make scouting

  • more rewarding
  • more exiting & effective

Basic Proposal

SM and any keep under the control of your side offer 2 scout jobs and any tower under the control of your side offer one scout job.

To register as scout for an objective you talk to the lord of that objective and if he has a free job you get a list of all commanders currently in WvW (any BL or EB, not just yours) to choose one from. If the commander accepts you as his scout for this objective you got the job and your name is shown on the map as scout for this objetive as long as you have this job.
If you leave the map or if you were not at least X (5-15) min of the tick inside this objective or your commander turn off/leaves you automatically loose that job.

If you are the registered scout of an objective for a commander in WvW you get exactly the same rewards as your commander, e.g. if the commander collects a lot bag/chest, you get loot bag content, if the commander participates in an event you get the event reward as well, …

This way scouting is exactly as rewarding as running with a commander.

If yes, just another design-failure of ANet: giving competitive prices to people that did not participated in the competition

No one goes into WvW during these 4 weeks, but all finish their achievements in EotM.
Should result in a draw if never anything happens in WvW, not sute what happens if a match results in a draw (probably a crash ), but could be all are taken as winner.

Also, if you build an AC somewhere decently close to the door, you can simply target locations behind the door, through the little slit above every door… no wide monitor or zoom hack required…

Indeed, there are also sneaky spots to put an ac down so you can shoot over a wall without having to “zoomhack”.

That isnt what OP is talking about, i’ve been wvwing for awhile and it’s pretty annoying that people who can afford huge monitors can AC over a wall, i cannot do it w/e the position, i dont have 3 monitors. its simply not fair.

The poor mans solution to 3 monitors is window mode.

Currently no time zone is punished for playing under the current system. The NA players can score just as many points as the EU, SEA or OCX players.

if 100 are in the match or if 1000 are in the match that score 695 gives 10 times as many score per player.

And between 300 vs 290 is 10 difference, between 20 and 10 as well, but in the second case the 10 difference make much more score difference than in the first. This has to end.

Whatever timezone it hits: 1 point score per player in the match is the goal!
NOT 0.7-20 points per player.

Concerning SFR is red: Looks like SFR rolls to negative.
And yeah 3 weeks you were red, but before you were 3 weeks green and before that 2 weeks blue. All in all you have a nearly equal chances for red, blue or green every friday, green is slightly more likely than blue which is slightly more likely than red. 3 times red seems to me like 3 time 1 or 2 on a dice, it happens, but not that often.

I guess there is an potential exploit where everyone jumps out of wvw just before the tick to artificially increase ppt.

Leaving WvW would decrease score. Anyhow, simply take the average population of the tick, not the one at the end of the tick, to disable such manipulations.

I think EotM could be turned into a really good fight map, if a mayor fault that also exist in WvW would be solved:

only conquest is rewarding! defense is not

E.g. the champ only drops if you kill him, why doesn’t he drop a chest for anyone in the objective at the end of every successful defense event?

Here is an alternative that should work as well.

  • walls and doors have 10 times as much life.
  • Killing NPCs, doors and walls from an outmanned side does not give any rewards (WEXP, drops).
  • the conquest event vs an outmanned side (outmanned during the whole event) does not give karma/gold.
  • An objective acquired from an outmanned side (outmanned during the whole event) does not generate score until upgraded at least twice.
  • outmanned is indicated on walls, doors, npcs and the event to the enemy.

10 people or less never generate outmanned buf on the opponents. ( if your enemy leaves a map empty by intend, send only 10 people and not a whole Zerg there to capture the map.)

Currently it’s most rewarding to attack the outmanned side. This reduces the incentive to do PvD, i.e. no effort = no reward.

Yeah, it’s a problem recognized by the players since the 1 week matches were started and not accepted as a problem by ANet since them.

All completely dead are immediately teleported to spawn is the best.

  • Friction war instead of winner take it all
  • Down-State becomes a meaning even for the classes that cannot do much while downed

If they would additionally disable rally in WvW, the game would be much better.

Optional improvement: Bloodlust score should be given for any dead, not only stomped ones. (Fleeing into water, jumping down a cliff, Alt-F4 all this stuff only to avoid a Bloodlust score point would be better in my opinion)

Here is another solution: in game mail to Davey, offer him 5 Omega golem per map (you can buy them from the AH) to take the points on a map. He either is a commander that can tell you yeah we can do it at that and that time, or he probably knows a good commander that can do it.

No way 50 WvW scrubs can take blackgate’s garrison.

Probably not with BG (T1), but I guess even 10-20 are enough to do that in EU-T9 (or NA-T8), maybe not between 20:00-23:00 CEST, but very likely at any other time.

Hey Anet,
dont make it 6 weeks please. Even changing AS for Vizu would be kind of good for us.

Looks like AS is not even winning this week, why should any match-making send them into a more difficult match?

merge eu and na why? so eu gets increased ping while na doesn’t have to worry about off times?

There would be a way:

  • 16:00-24:00 UMT the servers hosting all the wvw-match are based in EU
  • 24:00-8:00 UTC the servers hosting all the wvw-match are based in US
  • 8:00-16:00 UTC the servers hosting all the wvw-match are based in East Asia

This way the majority of player always have a good connection in their prime-time, only the off-time player (with respect to the timezone they are based in) would have a long line.

Of course not on owned computer, but rented ones and maybe it would need a short-state transmission break.

Would of course fit perfectly to time-sliced matches, then not even states, but only player-infos have to be transmitted:

  • Omega’s can clean walls very fast, and can shoot on doors from a range the behind-door-ACs cannot reach
  • catas, trebs and ballistas can clean ACs very fast and you only need LoS for ballistas
  • Own ACs can use the LoS hole above gates as well
  • Guard-staff-1 magic goes through walls and doors, such that a Treb, cata or AC close to a wall can be destroyed by them

Yes they stop playing and hoping Anet wakes up.

If they really stop they will fall down to T7. Doesn’t need any action from ANet, it will happen automatically.

The problem is more: They are probably still to strong for T7, and Arbor is still not strong enough for T5, such that there is no better match to make.

The strength (coverage) imbalances over the 27 teams and the league/not-league strength differences in most teams is the problem, not the match-making.

The underpopulation of the maps most of the time make the differences more extrem. 100 to 90 is 10 people difference but not a serious problem, 20 to 10 is also only 10 people difference, but a much more serious problem.

Ken hasn’t postet the new probabilities (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Matchup-wishlist) for friday, but just from the Rating development on http://mos.millenium.org/eu/matchups it is clear that your chances of a different match are increasing.

Arbor can be replaced by Vizu or Baruch (but I am in doubt that you will enjoy that more, both are potential giants in summer-sleep)

It’s not ANet that makes the matches, it’s your match-performance that make the matches.

PS: Elona-Kodash-Jade went for 10 consecutive weeks (2. Mar. 2013 – 10. May 2013) and Vabbi-WR-FoW went for 15 consecutive weeks (10. Nov. 2012 – 23. Feb. 2013) you still need a bit to beat these records in staleness

It’s obvious WvW Player feel ignored/left alone/unimportant/bad due to the fact that release notes since January did not added much to WvW.

On the other side ANet would face a gigantic mountain of contradictory wishes in the forum. So even if they want to make WvW-player happier, it’s not possible to decide how that could be done.

How about the following 3-step Crowdfunding procedure to resolve this dilemma:

1) Player state wishes for the cost of 100 gems per investigated wish. Not much, but enough to avoid troll posts. These 100 gems are charged from the player account when the wish is selected by ANet for investigation. Otherwise there is no cost.

2) ANet chooses from all wishes, the proposals to investigate. There should be at least 1 per week chosen. Investigation means, a likely duration between acceptance and possible release is announced and a total gem-cost for acceptance is set.

3) Player donate gems to the open proposal. If the gems-costs for a proposal is reached, the gems are charged and ANet has to develop it within the announced duration. If there aren’t enough donations within 2(or 4) weeks the donations are given back to players disposal and the proposal died. If the proposal was paid and the announced duration for the release is not kept ANet refunds 50% of the donations, if twice the announced duration is not kept ANet refunds the whole donation, if three times the announced duration is not kept, every donator get a frustration-compensation of 50% of his donation.

This proposal serves two purposes:

  • the importance of a wish is underpinned by the donation
  • ANet can earn some money directly with WvW improvements, but it isn’t meant to cover all development costs with this directly, it’s more a way to demonstrate the value a proposal has to the player base.

Again I can assure you, the developers are reading the forums regularly, even though they don’t have time to post a reply to everything they read. Additionally, as I read these forums probably more than anybody here, I regularly compile reports for the competitive team to make sure they are up to speed on your concerns and desires.

Maybe the main problem of the WvW forum is that it get’s only negative feedback from ANet.

If you troll, necro, be rude, be negative you sooner or later get feedback from ANet. Negative feedback of course, but feedback.

If you are constructive, propose or discuss matter it looks like you are ignored. If you summarize thread for the developers or developers read threads, how about some positive feedback: “Thanks for this interesting discussion”.

People obviously want feedback on the things they do in the forum, and if only negative things get feedback people become more negative.
