How about fixing it so it works in WvW? It’s like, the only time, I’d use it really.
^25-30 pfft…. I think “Culling Vision” is going to become this generations major medical issue.
;)
This is how it goes:
-Phase 1: Everyone works together to get phase 1 done as fast as possible.
-Phase 2: Either Aetherblades or Molten Alliance spawns here (let’s say MA spawns in this scenario). Farmers go on MA champion events, progressing the MA event bar, looting champion bags. Non-farmers go on regular events, progressing the main event bar. After the MA event bar has been drained, the farmers join the non-farmers to end phase 2.
-Phase 3: The farming group goes on Aetherblades, progressing the Aetherblades event bar. Non-farmers go on regular events, progressing the main event bar. After the Aetherblades event bar has been drained, the farmers join the non-farmers to end phase 3, and finish Scarlet.
In the case of failing the main event, either the farmers took too long to kill all the Aetherblades, or there weren’t enough non-farmers to complete the main event during that time.In either situation, both the farmers and the non-farmers still win.
If only everyone was a clear headed as you defined it. Earlier today I did a Frostgorge overflow and we didn’t even make it out of the second wave. It wasn’t a lack of people, it was having 4 pins tracking each farming location together. Also, calling out in map chat every champ they found. Which is my retort to those saying farmers don’t tell people how to play. Constantly calling out champs in telling people to come here. That this is what’s important. That here’s a champ and I (the farmer) need help killing it quick.
The dev’s screwed the event up by not equipping Minions with decent enough drops. Or, all of these events should take place in an overflow with a specific set of loot tables. Ones balancing or completely removing champion box drops.
Very good info above, TY! Wishing Anet would have provided much more info instead of leaving us to fight over it for day on end. Even spiking, doesn’t have a visual or measurable effect to quantify doing it.
I like the event for the busyness to some extent. Though the lack of info takes so much away from it.
The waves of Scarlet’s minions are depleted by killing creatures that emerge from the portals. Kills count, not necessarily events.
The pirate and molten waves are depleted by completing events.
I’d just like to point out, this post has caused more arguing in map chat than before
A question to ask is, do Champion Nightmares reduced the bar more than regular minions? Because, if a kill is a kill, we should be attacking the softest targets possible to close the portals the quickest. Meaning, champion nightmares should actually be avoided. Especially if he spawns right before the portal closes. Just move to the next event. Besides, event’s give XP/Karma/silver/Influence which are all forms of currency too.
It’s not farming the Pirate or Shaman Champions that’s the problem. It’s the extra time trying to close the portals that’s causing the issues.
Exclusivity will only bring out resentment and pride. Both are unwelcomed in the game. Arenanet should know better than do promotions such as this.
…Give us something we like with an opportunity to reward you for it and we will.
As Captain Planet used to day, “The Power is yours!” Culling wasn’t removed per say, it simply became user adjustable. This way I can max out my experience since I built a new rig. But, a friend who plays on her laptop can scale it down.

GZ…GJ!
I didn’t even know there was a timer I ran into the playhouse cold, with no knowledge of it at all. Both on my Knights Warrior and Ranger I just ran in, killed the add’s, use the extinguisher, rinse and repeat. My Ranger is a bit glassier and fell once at the end. Otherwise, I found it to be just about right on difficulty.
On my Warrior I used Great Sword / Rifle. A big thing is don’t forget the food buffs. Also, I ran around the beginning area charging up my character.
Jedsus and his followers used me last night as a human sacrifice for some type of ritual at South Bay.
How long until he leaves to form Jedtown in Guyana with his followers?
Razeth, at least we performed for you the proper Jedism, “Dance of the Warrior”
Are the beneficiaries supposed to just throw their hands up and say “I won’t make use of this awesome benefit because it’s not good for the country”?
In economics, every person acts for their own benefit. Not the “greater good”. Expecting otherwise is just setting yourself up for failure and it’s stupid.
See… this is why people equate “Farmers” as bad people. Because, what you just wrote is completely self centered and selfish. To put oneself before all else is frowned upon by many cultures and religions. How you are unaware of this, I have no idea. Also, there are MANY theories of economics which would not agree with your point of view too.
It’s pretty simple, if ten people were hungry and one person horded the food, you can be certain that one person would end up learning the value in sharing the hard way.
For me, I would not accept a “special” privilege if it would harm others. Heck, I can’t even get one of the farming circuits to slow down for 3 seconds for everyone to catch up to the pin. Even when we’re perfectly aware that we’ll all end up wait for the next target anyway. It’s just plain selfish behavior.

^that REALLY didn’t sound right but, it’s accurate
^Now I read this! It’s too late, have to eat and get ready for reset.
Jed, don’t forget the coke tonight!!!!!
GG…. not an Emo to Hero story. Please make it stop!….
When it comes to events, I’m usually success driven. Yet, even I’m finding nothing wrong with zerging up and farming these events. Why, because the goals aren’t clearly defined. The rewards aren’t clearly defined. There really isn’t a reason to do these events beyond farming loot.
Anet needed to further define and compartmentalize this event. We needed much more dialog and linearity. That’s why there is no significance or immersion for many. For the most part people appear to be completely disconnected from the the story and just objectifying the enemies as loot opportunities. Which in the end, it’s all they are.
So much anger and hate from BG/JQ people.
Why can’t you guys just have fun like us Rallians.
Relax, breathe and enjoy your gaming with your friends on the server.
I think you might want to save that advice for your TS I watched that video and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Lay off the energy drinks… it’s not healthy. If you’re old enough, have a drink and relax. It appears you Rallians are taking the game WAY too seriously.
I think LA can be called LA. Everything else needs more clarification. Say “DR” and I’ll not connect it to Divinity’s Reach because I rarely ever go there.
Humans…. think the whole world revolves around them. #smh
;)
The T1 thread can use some professional PvF. Where’s the swag when you need it?
#Attack!!!
Wherever I’m at at 7pm tonight on JQ, I’ll Dolly
Noticed a permanent hair style kit listed on the TP yesterday. Not available yet but, hope any new styles aren’t gated in it.
Yes..yes..and more yes. I’ve been saying this for a long time. Gaming in itself isn’t the healthiest activity. This game goes out of it’s way to be even more unhealthy. Simply by encouraging the duration of play and the frequency it attempts to trigger a stress response.
^exactly… I’d love an event not based on massive killing spree’s.
The event itself is pretty intense. Was lucky enough to be in FrostGorge when it began. Actually would like it scaled back a bit. It’s a bit too hard to complete it appears. In that regard it’s like Lost Shores. But, Lost Shores for me was fun. This is just 45 minutes of frenzy. I don’t mind it because the loot is good. It’s just not something I would do otherwise.
The complaint is just getting into a zone to even do it.
I’d just like to point out that many of us have spent the night chasing these events with no luck getting to do one. Worst yet is the notification on the top right of the screen is persistent. If the entry window, whatever it is, is missed then the notification should be removed. Thus, players aren’t way pointing all around in vain.
They seem like nice events but, this really shouldn’t be so difficult.
Titan, I actually agree with most of what you wrote. I think power creep is another issue thats lessening the fun value. High burst and one shotting in PvE is kitteny game play. When a fight last 3 seconds, it’s not skillful or thought based at all.
Yes, because I just finish it this morning. Irked to find out they did this would be an understatement. I don’t mind the daily portion but, it should be listed in the panel.
Maybe they should be smart and have had two dailies available on the last day of the event.
Queens Jubilee should be changed to 14 of 16. Every achievement panel should list “every” requirement. Having two of the daily achievements being required but, not listed, is an unwelcomed change.
Very unhappy about this. To grind out the achievement panel only to come up short from unspecified requirements. Yes, let me get out my crystal ball to play now….
Me too! They better add some retroactively. Dailies are NOT listed on the Queen’s Jubilee Panel. I finished the whole panel this morning, only to end up at 14/16. How the heck was anyone supposed to know the achievement panel was missing achievements?
This is the stupidest oversight I’ve seen yet. An achievement panel with hidden achievement requirements.
ok, this is what I was really thinking of while rolling SoR Garri….

Muahahaha, muahahahaha.
I love that opening! Watched every episode.

I saw it, EPIC!
Quick answer, since Badges have become a greater currency, they’ve reduced the drop rate.
Well, you really can’t level 1-80. You need the starter zone to, well, start You’d be surprised at level 12-15 what you can already do. It all depends on knowing your class and gearing it to scale correctly. Most up-levels die or get frowned upon because their gear is 10+ levels behind their actual level. Which really hurts the scaling formula. Also, that they haven’t kept up on traits and skills.
Anet never made WvW to be endgame only content. It scales well if you are mindful of it. An extra man on a map without a queue is always beneficial.
On my condi Ranger (I know… meh) I’m blending in more and more power to the point I’m comfortable. I do not appreciate the power creep in the game as it is. We’re really hitting each other too hard in WvW. Most of those hit’s end up being power based. But, I have found some truly devastating Condi grenade Engi’s out there.

Or maybe this….

Ladies and Gentlemen, a short preview to the Drunk Commander Night hosted by myself and Sanghae every thursday night. Some actually singing by Miss Lana also included.
Speaking of music, I was thinking of this as we were rolling SoR BL earlier.

I’d very much like the tops and bottoms of armor to be broken into segments. Segments with a check box to turn on/off visibility of each zone.
For example on a coat, the ability to turn on/off the sleeve segment would be awesome. Especially for the tops that are asymmetrical or have odd materials for sleeves.
It would take the customization of our characters to a new level. Please consider this….
I just crafted a full set of celestial trinkets. Why, because it cost very little when you have such easy access to the materials. I do agree it’s not the best but, the difference between Ascended and Exotic Celestial is extremely small.
With 9 characters all needing gear, Laurels is not a viable option. One will get Ascended gear for FotM infusions. The rest are getting Exotics until Anet roll’s out the new crafting levels.
No thank you… Being a mature adult, I don’t need to explore or entertain such childish impulses.
I agree about the economic impact. I’ve played a lot the past two weeks but, haven’t the chance to really farm a lot. Used the events to level alts. too. Though never got a good drop the whole time. So, for me this has only been worth 10-15g total.
I can’t believe not one weapon skin. The RNG God’s at Anet have soured me to a greater extent. And to think, I bought $50 in gems because I was so happy with the Wallet system. I had no idea the economic impact that was to follow.
This would never happen. We all know Eir and the Norn would swoop down from the mountains and crush Rytlock’s plans long before he reached the Queen.
… Foolish Charr…. tsk tsk tsk…
Actually, after relogging, JQ BL is unavailable even.
Mass DC’d right now in JQ BL. Just FYI….
Anyone else notice that the content being produced recently has had a polarizing effect on the player base? For a game designed with social aspects at it’s core, why make content that divides us?
Just curious to see what others think? I don’t appreciate the effect it’s having myself. How about you, do you like having factions or rather have a greater community?
It encourages you to make more alts. Because we all know how alt friendly the game is, right? #timegate
Punishment means you lose something valuable when you fail. This concept is not new. It adds risk. When you do something risky you feel an adrenaline rush because you know the consequences of failure.
Without risk achievements are empty. The encounter might of been challenging but; the reward for success doesn’t feel the same.
I will disagree to some extent with this line of thinking. Emotional rewards come from many different sources. The rewards from the social aspects of the game have far outweighed any boss or battle in the game for me.
For the “adrenaline rush” I’ve stated numerous times it is not why I play a game. In fact, inducing an adrenaline response frequently should not be the goal of a developer. Because the stress response is not a healthy state to induce often.
I completely agree with the OP. It appears over the past couple of months the feeling of being punished and not challenged, has been creeping further and further into content.
I’m also not thrilled with the handling of our economy and the Gauntlet farming. Just last night I needed a rez and a Deadeye farmer ran over. Instead of giving me a rez, they just started looping in and out, leaving me for dead. That’s the kind of behavior this content is producing…..
So wait a second, I played the game all night long in WvW. Lucky if I made 1-2 gold. Yet, people are farming this and already have 800 gold???? So while the rest of us are trying to enjoy a portion of the game, Anet’s allowing the economy to suffer from hyper inflation?
…GG…
“OMG… Do they Ever!” said no one ever….
Right off the bat, this thread is biased. Biased by the title alone. Since one of the terms is being used in a complimentary fashion, while the other in a derogatory one.
What’s most important for Arenanet to keep in mind is, we’re all paying them to be entertained. I think most of us are not paying them to be grieved, trolled, annoyed, or anything of the like. Thus, difficulty or challenge should come second in importance to the focus of being entertained.
Being of differing mind, I find nothing “fun” about Liadri. For me to have fun or having a blast requires humor and interesting story. I’m not of the palm sweat, adrenaline, and rage, suffering gamer mentality. There’s a LOT more of us whom are not of that mindset. We deserve new content too. So please don’t say there’s enough content already. There’s enough OLD content already.
I’d say it’s not that much skill, there is certainly a luck factor. Banging away at something until you get all the pieces to fall in place, is luck. If it was skill our performances would be easily repeatable. Though it is not that repeatable.
There are many champions that cannot be solo’d already in game.
With the massive global market for theme parks, I don’t know why one would attempt to use the term in a derogatory manner?
I believe what might be an issue with the living story is it’s abruptness. That if things were to come online progressively, it would be more interesting and less jarring to the players.
I’m more concerned about the progression in difficulty of each Living Story. This appears to be catering to a small group of players that love suffering, stress, etc. I on the other hand, appreciated the Zephyr Sanctum and hoping it returns soon. I’d much rather have an expanded Zephyr Sanctum to act as a new Lions Arch.
The most disturbing feature of the update has been that it pushed me to spend over 10g and 100 laurels on new gear. Frankly, I’m annoyed as I’m now stuck with new gear I’m not thrilled with. This is 2.5 months worth of dailes and monthlies lost. Please allow us a place to test our PvE/WvW gear like there is in sPvP. Laurels are still a very bad mechanic for a currency. It’s unforgiving and very alt unfriendly.
