From last night, my best T4 run has been 21 kills so far on my Ranger. Nothing good for drops. Just some heavy loot bags.
Mango pie’s on my shout warrior certainly helped me stay alive. I can run right through them for the most part. I’ve been trying to pull all I can behind the wreckage while partied. Solo, I just don’t have the dps to finish this by killing them
It appears they already nerfed/fixed this event. Just did it on my lvl 33 Hammer/Staff Zerker Guardian easily. Ring of Warding to lock them at spawn and smack them around. Then Zealots Embrace as they try to run and Signet of Wrath to really slow down their progress. Another fun thing was using Line of Warding and Sanctuary to deny them access
This pass they didn’t even spawn mortars or any of the heavy vets at 5:30
Wait… the poster above me sneaked that post in while I was playing/typing this. I kept reminding folks last night in my party to use the water! Also, if the get to low on HP, go for a swim and heal out of combat. Especially when the event was failing if someone died. Because I’ve never been chased out onto those rock formations in the water to the south of the plunderer’s spawn points.

it’s been one day in, already talking about nerfing instead of finding out better ways to do it?
I’m calling for a nerf because how many tries does it take to figure that out? The scaling is poorly implemented. As many of the post’s are pointing to this conclusion. It reminds me of how badly implemented the scaling is on the Karka Queen. Which is mostly why Southsun is a ghost town again.
I’m voting Kiel! She’s virtuous and fought hard for the people of Tyria. She’s deserves some respect and reward for her efforts.
I’d bet the content for both outcomes are already finished and we’re getting both whether we like it or not. The only thing that might change it the order they are presented.
Though, more Char and Asura story, seriously? When are Norn getting more content??? Maybe Anet can redeem poor Eir after slandering her good name with that delinquent mother, bs! #kittens!!!

This thing is buggy as bleep. Did it with my Ranger in a three man party. Two of us were bow Rangers. Can almost solo it in Knights gear as a shout warrior. Yet, in a full party, everything goes to heck! The mobs were chasing us behind the rock were Kiel talks even. I ended up going hero mode and pulling 10+ behind the wreckage, dove in the water, and swam back to the start.
This thing still needs a nerf, scaling fix, bug fix, or whatever the heck makes it so inconsistent. IMHO, this is still the worst content to date. It’s not even about skill, just which gimmicky peg fit’s this content’s hole.
My one word for this, “nerf!”
On JQ, I’ve spent many hours porting people in this event. If you need any assistance, feel free to ask. I’m certain many of us are willing to help.
I’m voting for Kiel! I’d honestly rather have a story that destroys Fractals completely….
I’m sorry, I hate this level of difficulty. I’ve tried it numerous times. There is simply no way my build can beat this. Thus, I turned the game off. I’m getting annoyed at how even PvE difficulty is getting ramped up to please a few.
This is stupid hard. As in how stupid were the dev’s to create this? Even as a shout warrior I can’t clear the insane amount of conditions being applied. It’s starts off ok, then after the ele’s start to spawn, it’s over shortly after. I’m at 25 stacks of vulnerability and boiled down in 2 seconds. It’s ridiculously hard.
And, if there’s a gimmick like stand in this one spot, that makes this design that much worse.
First to say, “Go to Bread Shini!” You’re not even finishing sentences now….
Pot, I already offered you on the other thread the “Jade Shield of Justice” next week
I’d also like to chime in on the subject of “toxicity”. For only three short weeks ago I began an internal post on this very subject. Because I was getting tired of how some of our Commanders were treating others on JQ. So in this, that is in fact true. Though I never said whom it was. What I can say is, they are no longer on JQ. Because on JQ, we will in fact stand up for one another. If you think you can be brutal or toxic without consequence, you are (were) in for a surprise.
Razeth, I’m very saddened to see you go. Most of us had no knowledge of this until we saw some of you on the opposing side.
If truly [LOVE] will set us free, then the least we can do is repay the kindness by acting as BG’s “Jade Shield of Freedom!” for a week. In fact, if a few TC wanted to transfer over for a vaca to go after SoR, we certainly have some room
Kryta will get their day.
That is all.
I think we Norn might have something to say about this.
There are parts of this game that truly need more choices to be available. Though at some point, choice kills. Maybe more will be great, maybe not so much. The only way to find out is to try.
I love that siege is now on the TP. I also love Golems!Turnover makes the game interesting….
Please show me this “easy to come by” way of getting 100 gold? For the Pin itself, maybe have that user’s can choose not to see it. But, it has to be available throughout the entire game. It has many uses…
I kinda despise how elitist people can be in this game. You are not in the OP’s situation, do not presume to know anything.
It’s already been mentioned they are fixing it. In the future though, you can always guest to JQ or TC where they have larger PvE populations. You’ll find much more helpful folks there.
From what I’ve seen tonight on the field, yes [ACO] and [WARD] transferred to SoR. Beyond the “Way to screw the Tier further!” aspect of it, I’m irked that two specific people would leave us on JQ. It’s like family stabbing you in the back.
Which I’ll be happy to reciprocate in WvW tonight You know which BL we usually pick. Come join us, please
For [ACO] and [Ward] going to SoR, all I can say is, good luck to SoR! You’ll need it
Honestly, if it’s just a lil vaca time like [TW] did that’s great. But, I have little respect for those whom would further stack SoR and BG. Seriously, what are you thinking??
TY for continuing to share your points of view. It’s fascinating how polarizing this was. That’s why I chose to post this question. For those they kept this on topic, TY too. This wasn’t about the item itself, it’s about knowledge.
Another fascinating aspect is how some see this as an act of generosity. While others see it as a marketing ploy. I’d be in the latter category honestly.
Some post seemed to not have read that I buy gems frequently and I received a kite. So remember this was a philosophical discussion for the community as a whole…. Why am I asking, because I like to see everyone as happy as can be
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
found this clip too…
Amadan, NP! Though you made a good point about why didn’t players tell one another. Thinking about it more, Anet should have known giving only certain players a shiny would have caused instant grieving.
Elothar, you made a very good post. Thank you for taking the time to share! I encourage more post like yours. My counter is still from the perspective of those that did not. Whether they had not bought gems, was on the fence of buying gems, or bought gems on July 1st at 12:30am. Some could have easily bought those gems 35 minutes earlier. For even in today’s market place, price matching and refunding after the sale exist’s. Those wouldn’t exist’s if consumer confidence and the alleviation of buyers remorse wasn’t so important. Those are all used to build trust.
Hmmm….. if I could start again I would replace trust with confidence?
^Wow, Amadan your lil rant is off the mark completely. You also assumed I did not have one. Even though I did state that I purchased gems within the past few weeks. sigh
It’s the concept of releasing items without any knowledge. Nor giving those without, the piece of mind that they would still have the opportunity to obtain them. Only those that received them knew that they would be available. Simply an email to those not receiving a kite stating that they will be available soon in the gem store would have been appropriate.
If they had said “IF you buy gems now, you’ll get THIS later” would it have convinced you to buy gems?
Thank you for respecting a differing point of view For your question, it would depend on what the items are. And, it very much could affect my purchasing. That’s at the root of my post, the unknown factor. For me personally, I actually had gem cards waiting to be used. Thus, I could have easily put in the code within any time period.
For the cosmetic question, most upgrades and items are cosmetic in nature. Thus they do have value. After upgrading to deluxe and filling out the bank tabs, most of my gem purchases have been used for cosmetic purposes. Costumes and town clothes mostly.
You just described every single server in this game
Yes, we’re all similar Sharpoon. Yet, there’s certainly differences once you begin guesting about. Just jumping around different Lion’s Arch’s and you’ll come to find JQ certainly has one of the liveliest in the game. You’ll find most of the recurring content is successfully completed. For example the Orrian Temples.
To me, JQ has almost become the Hub for NA servers. Similar to how TC has been the unofficial Role Play server.
I’m glad people are enjoying the kites! Though I’m displeased that Arenanet would once again release items with no prior knowledge given to the costumers. Also, that these items are presently exclusive. To me, not being upfront with and limiting the customers opportunities, are not a healthy or honorable way to conduct business.
I’ve first noticed this with the mini’s, then the Starcake Recipes, and now the Kites. A good precedent this does not make. How can the costumer have trust in this environment?
I’d like to hear many opinions on this. And, before anyone say’s it, I have spend hundreds on gems in the past. Just spent $50 the past two weeks on gem cards too. It’s not knowing when to, how much to, and what will be the return that is the core of the mistrust I’m referring to.
News Flash! Ummm… there was a magical patch in the last two hours fixing Rangers?
Shyaa’ ….. I’ll bet. Ooh, was that pig flying outside the window?
I completely agree Sharpoon. Though Player turnover still exists. As amazing as it is to get a whole Guild moving over, it’s also going to be about getting the individuals and new players to come to JQ.
I think one of our greatest strengths is our full spectrum of Guilds to join in JQ. From the super serious militarized PvP Guilds. To the goofy, zany, and equally awesome PvP Guilds. We have our casual PvX Guilds that do a little of everything. Then our great PvE community too! Because we have to be honest, most of the content and rewards are still in PvE. Which JQ excels in helping each other in greatly.
I’m just reading this all for the first time. Having been recently rolled a couple of hours ago by 60+ SoR vs our 25 on JQBL, I’m beside myself that anyone would think we don’t need more on JQ. Having even numbers is just common sense.
For the design of WvW. One would have to assume that Anet built the capacity of the server system above the requirements of us running full map populations 24/7. This would be for redundancy and failure protection. I can only surmise that either resources were pulled from WvW or something in the code has created more demand on the system. The lag issue should have nothing to due with the increases in server populations. Because the Map populations of WvW haven’t changed recently as far as I know.
It is up to Anet to correct any technical hurdles they may be experiencing. For us, as players, it’s our job to enjoy the game and do our best to make it so for everyone else. For JQ, that mean’s recruiting more players! So that we may give SoR and BG the challenge they ask for. Also, to give our players some relief and support. Because we have to admit, many of us have been burning the candle at both ends for two months already.
Certainly Myst, the nodes appear in your home instance after you get the Gift of Quartz from doing 16 of the Bazaar of the Four Winds. Each race has there own home instance which you can look up here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Home_instance
It’s no different than any other ore node. You just walk up and use a pick axe on it. It’s account bound and reset’s once per day.
I haven’t bought any crystal’s yet. I already have a few stacks from game play. I almost received a full stack just from WvW last night.
And, we’ll have an excess of Crystals for a full set by the end of this event. Beyond that we’ll need crystals for…..???? I already have the Ascended Celestial trinkets.
Congrat’s SoR on acquiring [TLDR]. After seeing one of our Guilds [WTF] is now on BG, I’m at a loss for words about balancing T1.
It was moved to its own map because of people complaining that those doing the jp were taking up valuae slots from those that wanted to do WvW.
And they STILL do take valuable queue slots. Try to get to EB tonight at 9pm in T1
Do NOT refer to T1 as a whole. People will find little to no Queue on JQ.
It is absolutely intended that you can fight people in the JP. The fact that so many people are piling into the map to get the achievement is good for any and all of you who are capable of laying the smack down on them, and, if they manage to fight back is hopefully going to encourage some of them to stick around and play WvW. If you don’t want to get killed by other players, don’t play WvW. Plain and simple. The achievement isn’t required for getting the meta-achievement on purpose.
I understand Arenanet has metrics on player activities and attempts their best to socially engineer our behavior. Though I do not believe, nor have witnessed, any increase in WvW population due to any achievement being placed within WvW.
I’ll still due my best to engineer a truce between our match up. Allowing us to portal as many as possible amongst our 3 worlds. Because showing that we’re good gamer’s that care and that WvW can be a place of fun, will bring in more players to WvW.
For the griever’s, you know whom you are. Have some common sense about how much is too much.
We’ll have a consistent supply of crystals. The question is whether or not they’ll be any demand for them?
The Gift of Quartz I believe is only available this month. Now how to explain this….. Since I have the node already, if you were to party with me, you can enter the home instance with me. Then farm the node that I have there. Thus, if you are in a guild, it shouldn’t be too hard to farm them in the future.
They are also on the TP for cheap. So you can always buy some.
Kodiak, I could say BG was playing for 2nd all night by attacking any JQ property instead of focusing on SoR. It’s a silly conversation when BG obviously focused on there own BL and cleared the whole map.
This endless debate is why I have no clue what Anet is thinking. Thieves should have been altered 6 months ago already. Anyone who’s been playing since launch knows the endless threads there were on the subject in the fall.
The problem is, most WvW players are not built for 1v1. Thus, we actually are just cattle to Thieves. Like my Staff Ele, good luck taking on a thief with a Staff Ele. If a thief stealth’s in behind you and initiates with a backstab, which is easy to do by the camps, you are done for.
I think the core conversation is that, the Dev’s need to learn, grieving DOES NOT create a better gaming experience. That MOST players do not enjoy so much adversity and “challenge”. This is what happens when the main sPvP Dev, who loves dueling and creating tears (as he put it) has too much control over the entire game.
If a thief continues to bother you, just put in map chat that an area requires a Wash n’ Roll by the nearest Zerg
I think most WvW’ers will agree, we need more tactical abilities. One of the greatest ones to me would be having colored pins. Everyone knows the Blue Dorito is a Commander. But, there needs to be more color options because there are more than one Commander.
Please Anet, it seems like this should be SO simple to put in the next update/patch.
WvW shouldn’t have been so literal. Our worlds should have been labeled countries. Then each week they could have put together or the players chosen which “countries” get put together to form Worlds to fight each other. This way they could have coupled the highest and the lowest WvW populated servers together. Or, it’s simply like sPvP where matches are run on auto and people simply join in the fight.
no SoR should ever complaining about blobbing, while right now, there’s probably 50-60 in JQ BL NW tower?
I was about to say, I think his monitor isn’t calibrated correctly. If your playing on a laptop then, yeah you might have even more issues.
I’ll agree with the sentiment that, the Dev’s appear sadistic at times. It seems they are catering to a small sec of gamer’s that love to be frustrated. The more ire they can amass, they more they claim to like it. I’d be interested in having their physical responses tested while gaming. I imagine they are still having a very high stress responses. Which is entirely not healthy at the level of exposure people play this game. But, that a whole other topic
For now, try to bring in a friend who’s a Mesmer. Pop portals alone the way as safety nets. And yes, adjust your screen settings to bring up the brightness.
If you stand on the small ledge at the edge (pointed by the arrow) of the wall
Wow, TY all for the replies!!!! Can’t wait to read them all. I’ll first reply to this though. We had a full zerg attacking inner Hills. I was running across the back of the wall and got to the point where I’m standing in the photo. This screen cap is after the fact for illustration purposes. Anyway, I was literally pulled up in the air in the direction of the arrow, and dropped on the ground in front of the point. Obviously, I was mauled by the attacking horde
I’m almost wondering if something like an Eyefinity setup has increased field of view to the point where it’s breaking LoS for Pull Skills? This is the 3rd time since patch that I’ve been pulled in some really absurd way.
btw.. I’ll say pull skills should never had been implemented in my mind. It’s an immature mechanic contrived to force melee. Problem being, it’s been abused for grieving. I’ll also admit that I do have a Mesmer too
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
Whom ever said the game was supposed to be medieval? Stay in Ascalon area’s then. I want more fantasy and high tech in the game. Something with life and color!
Besides, you want to take the atmosphere seriously in a video game? Too funny…
When a Dev runs havok with 2 Thieves and 2 Mesmers, that tell’s you something is fishy with balancing and stealth.
I’d love if damage removed stealth. Like most game designers knew to do.
My actual counter balance for stealth would be, Ranger pet’s ignore or see through stealth. Because Thieves should share in our “Oh… F” moments in the game too
This is if Ranger Pet’s could actually hit anyone in WvW
I made a post over 5 months ago on this subject too.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/PANTS/first#post1437789
I’d so use them more often if they had a shorter CD.
As much as I’d REALLY like to have more on JQ, since we’ve been riding the ole’ outmanned buff the past 4 hours, T1-T2 do not sound like what you are looking for. In fact, an EU server sounds like the best idea. You’d be playing off hours coverage which could be really an exciting challenge for you.
Sorry my fellow T1’ers…. I’m honest to a fault
