Djinn.9245I’m not sure what is wrong with race being part of the meta as class is part of the meta. Nothing should be so unequal that people don’t want to, or are shunned if they play a certain class. So the same should be true if race mattered to your build.
I vote a big NO. I dislike playing the huge norn and the running animation of charr actually make me “seasick,” so the one charr I created is doomed to be parked at a JP chest the rest of his life.
Why would it be a good thing to force a race if that race had any advantage over any other race, stats/skills-wise?
Eh, no worries, Anet will never change the way it is now.
Good solution. Except the people wanting racial diversity really wouldn’t be getting any diversity. Still, best solution so far for skills — except the racial skills all already exist, and it is hard to imagine Anet radically changing them and not causing a mutiny.
Do you know that hovering your mouse over a hero point displays the status? Whether or not it has been completed?
Most painless? Just play the game and hope pieces drop for you. I’ve gotten ascended pieces in WvW, open world/jumping puzzle chests, and just as open world drops. That, of course, doesn’t kit out a character in any kind of time frame, but whatever.
I’m crafting my armor, and have full sets of heavy and medium, and took a break from the light until I gather more materials. I’m in no hurry, so don’t want to buy the mats if I don’t have to.
So if you have the mats or the gold, then crafting is slow and steady. Just make the daily components and assemble the parts. That was a big IF, though.
If you get a charr mount, my norn gets an asura. Just sayin’.
Maybe Anet should add a new town called Kamadan, where players can stand around and shout out the things they want to buy or sell. Cuz that was so much fun in GW1.
I have a lot of skins I’ll never wear, but don’t care if others do. And if they spend $$$ to get some of them, all the better.
GW2 launched in 2012, almost five years ago. You want the personal story to be updated now, after all that time passed, and after all those millions of characters went through it? Why would Anet do that?
And the story is customizable… just not very. Sure, it could’ve been much better, but I can’t see that part of the game being rewritten. And going forward, there is only the boss/commander, so race matters not.
[edit]
It was mentioned that adding a racial skill would enhance roleplaying. Well, if you’re roleplaying, what prevents you from taking a racial skill now? I can’t imagine many roleplaying groups are going through raids. You want the flavor, make the choice to include it.
Just add dogs already.
That’ll take care of the cat infestation problem.
Does it really matter? Do any downed skills affect conditions, allowing you to do anything about them? Necro, maybe?
What do you gain by paying someone to farm? The UM and logs/jade/etc cannot be traded.
Perhaps you should seek out a guild of like-minded players? There is a board here for finding guilds, ads in game, and external sites. Try google?
For the people wanting spirit-spamming Ritualists… Are you playing turret Engineers now? What makes you think Rit-spirits would be any better?
Personally, if Anet were to add professions, I would want something I’ve never done before, rather than a retread of Ritualist, Paragon, or Dervish. Something unique, like Engineer was.
I just don’t see them adding any professions, only elites.
People regularly request “winter only” items, like the ice encased outfit (whatever it’s called), so I think it’s great that Anet will be offering them off-season.
What’s relevant are the mechanics involved. Is this a permanent joining? What happens when there’s a relational break? What happens when one side professes a faithful union just so they can clean out the victim’s account?
You see features, I see nightmares for Anet.
Leave it as a roleplaying thing.
And how does Anet know the two to be wed in-game are married out-game? I would totally “marry” my alt accounts to get the benefits you mentioned.
This sounds like a big headache for Anet unless it is no more than a title.
WARIORSCHARGEING.2637never ever spend real world money on this game after the buying the game
Why not?
I’m at a point in my life where I find it more comfortable to buy gems with cash rather than spend time in-game farming for gold to convert to gems. And it supports the game that I spend my time in. I’m a one-game-at-a-time kinda guy, and $25 now and then makes the hours of enjoyment I get out of the game well worth the investment.
I see absolutely no reason not to buy gems with cash.
+1 So long as it’s invisible, doesn’t make minis go away, and <soon> won’t make mounts go away.
[edit] Let’s add “silent” as well.
Excluding a scythe or musical instruments, couldn’t all this be accomplished via Elite Specs, rather than adding new classes? I think we’re done with new classes and will only see more Elites added, including more profession mechanics.
I don’t see a bard working well considering how short skills are. They’d all be playing (war)horns, too. Perhaps a bard in the party adds party-wide buffs, so there’s some sort of maintenance cost? Or you can only choose one, which represents whichever tune the bard is humming? I dunno.
Anet hasn’t yet shown any interest in adding weapons, so I wouldn’t hold out for a GW1-style dervish. That doesn’t eliminate something like a Mesmer wielding a hammer dervish-style, right?
Priest = Guardian Elite.
Ritualist = Rev Elite.
etc…
I wondered the same thing, but was too lazy to look for an explanation.
I assume we are finished with new classes and will only see new elites.
Plus, haven’t people been moaning about weapon and other skins gated behind either tickets or chests? Isn’t Anet putting the skins directly in the gem store just what people have been asking for? So pony up some cash and quit complaining!
You can change stats on ascended via the Mystic Forge. There is no upgrading exotics.
I’d settle for just better looking male armor, period. I only have a couple of light armor male characters (out of ~50) since there are so few good options. Thus, more female than male characters.
It sounds like you guys are miles away from elite specs, so I’m thinking things like Dragon Hunters and Tempests are a long way off.
Has she tried a ranged Thief? Dual pistols and shortbow. If you’re up front drawing most of the agro, she could camp at range and only need to dodge when needed. I run it solo at times and find it a lot of fun.
A little insight would help. Are you messing with stuff in PvP trying to figure out what to use in PvE? Or something else?
You want a partner in-game?
Play a Ranger!
Wouldn’t people just “sell” their accounts with tons of unlocked skins? Is this a permanent, one time thing? What about me with multiple alt accounts?
While I would love some account merging/sharing/linking features, since I have five accounts, I can’t see it ever happening. Too much possibility of abuse, and too much risk for Anet support to have to deal with “links gone bad.” Such as, you linked accounts with your friend/spouse/whoever who sells all your stuff. Or, accounts stolen and offered for sale for linking. Anet surely doesn’t wanna deal with that junk.
I’m still hoping this will be a feature of the new expansion, to make it more attractive to buyers.
I don’t understand. Does this post complain about trenchcoats or not? Cuz that’s what I expected to see. :O
I think toggle-able boosters would be too open to abuse. Having a karma booster up, but keeping it disabled until four seconds prior to an award of karma, feels exploitive. Turning any booster off when not applicable just feels wrong to me, though it would be nice to not waste them.
I know some have commented on this already, but my hours played divided by the price I paid for the original + HoT = nine cents per hour. Nine cents. If I go to a movie, I only get to enjoy it once at about $5/hour. As a form of entertainment, GW2 is incredible.
Granted, I have sunk a lot more into the game via gem purchases, but those additions have only added to my enjoyment of the game, and are beyond the scope of this discussion.
Ashantara.8731At least, those “instant salvage items” make for tons of AP
How so? I assume you mean the 250 you can get from Agent of Entropy. The achievement repeats endlessly, but you stop getting AP once maxed. Or are you referring to something else?
Wow, those are “new” items and sure didn’t stick around long. Especially considering they are themed for the current story, of which we’re still in the midst of. I’m not in-game, but assume you’ve looked at more than just the promotions tab?
Are you complaining that they don’t stack or don’t compact, as in auto-change position when directed to do so?
Your computer (monitor, video card…) and game settings may also have an impact on distinguishing between similar colors.
Have they tried barrage balloons (blimps) yet?
Hmm, perhaps creative use of the gemstore kites is in order?
Then, once we’ve mastered the Ignore Me While I Take Your Stuff lines, we can move onto the Just Give Me All The Stuff Once I Log Onto The Map mastery track.
While more racial armors would be nice, wouldn’t it be better if the effort Anet puts into armor would be usable by all races? They could make 5 sets of which any particular race could wear only one, or 5 sets that each race could wear all of.
I vote for One For All!
I prefer the “natural ones” like owl, spiders, moas, and raccoon. But right now I’ve turned off mini’s and titles, except for the snow dragon on one toon since it goes too perfect with the white theme in use.
I bought the package this weekend. Chose the Immortal Pistols to go with the outfit. I rarely wear hats anyway, so the baldness doesn’t bother me — but it wouldn’t bother me if I chose to wear the hat, either.
I like it. I need to experiment more with dyes still, but that’s the nice thing about outfits, it’s all free now that I have it.
I did it solo long after the masses went through… er… en masse.
That’s not to say I completed everything (every HP, etc) but rather made it through the story and moved on. There were enough people to do metas or kill champs or whatever for me.
I think the population will just keep getting thinner as more and more maps are added, plus the upcoming expansion. So if you’re interested in completing it, now’s a good time.
Nobody knows when, but they will be back.
There is a stickied thread above that you can add your request to.
There is a web page you can use to notify you when a desired item is in the store. I’ve never used it, so google it if another kind soul doesn’t come along with the link.
I’m still pondering buying it. I do like the look of it, but have enough outfits already. But, living in Arizona, there is a certain obligation, a certain duty, ya know?
Now, if the hat matched my cowboy hat, it’d be a done deal.
@ProtoGunner
My objections are not functionality-based, but more of clutter-based. Right now, mini’s get turned off if a map gets too crowded. What happens with mounts added to those maps?
Right now, there are 12’ tall, 8’ wide norns sporting 16’ wings that obscure half the screen, when it is already challenging to see things. Now you want to put that on top of an even larger critter?
I’m all for moving faster and giving my dragonhunter more movement options.
Also, don’t expect to see them in WvW. Like gliding, it’ll be an expansion-only item.
A precursor can drop from anything for anyone. At least drop from anything that drops stuff. So to say there’s no value in doing a random event is not true.
To say there’s likely not a lot of benefit from doing some random event is true.
I’ll still stop and do them anyway, more often than not. Squirrel!
I can’t see how they could add gliding since not everyone has gliding unlocked. Unless you get “freebie” gliding in WvW as some sort of incentive to buy an expansion?
Is the list including each racial point, when only one is actually available? That would account for a few.
My hopes for the upcoming competitive updates relate more to balancing for 2 vs 2. WvW, PvP, raids, and now 2v2 will all be considered? Hmm.
