I would think a new(ish?) player would find a legendary, and even ascended gear, rather expensive. I’ve been playing since launch, though not as focused/hardcore as many, and just this weekend had my first precursor drop. I looked up on GW2Efficiency what it will take to make the legendary, and I have a lot of work/collecting to do.
Likewise, I’m 2/3 through making ascended armor of each set and have made a few ascended weapons, and getting those materials together is expensive — not including crafting to 500.
So ascended is a good goal, but if you look into the requirements and look into your material storage, you might consider being happy with exotic gear while you build up your stock.
Based upon my main account:
(#) = number of characters of said profession
Ranger (4)
Guardian (3) *
Thief (3)
Warrior (3) *
Elementalist (3) *
Engineer (3) *
Necromancer (2) +
Revenant (2) +
Mesmer (2) +
- Tied for second place
+ Tied for last place
Therefore, Ranger is the most popular! Woot!
Fractals are the new dungeons. You’ll see all development efforts there. And Raids, of course.
The problem is, once you raise the goggles, you lose your hair.
“Veterans who could care less about a lot of things that seem important to us forum regulars: 65-130”
I’m in that lazy/distracted/disinterested category, but I think I’m more like 40 points. Eh, I’ll get to it… someday.
I have plenty of Empyreal (plus the eater to handle excess) but never enough of the other two to make the ascended gear I want. I guess I just don’t do enough of the content that generates those two, and have never been much of a farmer. The newer maps help.
Yes, combine all the passes AND add another set of shared inventory slots.
Or better yet, google the subject since there was a recent conversation on this.
Plus, they can show the locations that are not unlocked greyed out with a little purchase icon next to it to generate gem store sales. I’m referring to the Divinity Reach, Airship, etc passes.
If your achievements panel shows you have completed those items, and the mastery points don’t add up, then contact support.
Those points were awarded automatically. Didn’t you have some mastery points right away? That was them.
For the early ones, where it shows an award for each race’s story, you only get those once. So if you play through on a Human, you will not get them for a Norn (for example).
So you’re really just asking for a school uniform outfit. Gotcha.
There is a sticky up top for gemstore suggestions, FYI.
Please merge this with the “we need pom-poms” thread.
So… you ask for schools to enroll in, but what does that mean, exactly? Is there some story there? A new way to earn mastery points? What exactly are you asking for? Or is the real hope just a schoolgirl uniform? If so, why the distraction of schools?
Crud, here I haven’t been buying any spikes!
I’ve never noticed because music is the first to go in any game I play. Yes, I know there is some great music in games, and it can add atmosphere, but I always disable it shortly after beginning any game.
Depending on what I’m doing, I’m likely to be listening to my own music with the computer’s speakers turned off.
Nice suggestions, but worth the effort? If Anet were to add such improvements, wouldn’t you rather see similar things added to actual enemies?
OMG! Expac 2 has begun!
Just last night I crafted some new leather armor for my necromancer. For some reason, I couldn’t equip it…
At least it’s there in the bank for the next Medium armor toon that needs it.
The all-knowing wiki states this:
“A role-playing video game (commonly referred to as role-playing game or RPG, and in the past also known as computer role-playing game or CRPG) is a video game genre where the player controls the actions of a character (and/or several party members) immersed in some well-defined world.”
How is GW2 not an RPG?
Many WvW’ers currently complain that the Desert Borderland map is too big, so I can’t see them in favor of an entire open PvE map. If it’s about taking a keep, and within a limited area, I’m not sure how it’s any different than what we have in WvW now. I guess making it GvG is the real difference?
Likewise, many PvP’ers want straightforward Group vs Group (let’s leave the size of “Group” vague, shall we?) fights without all the PvE-type distractions.
So I’m not entirely sure which void this proposal is meant to fill.
In GW1, a guild could take a town in the Kurzick or Luxon lands. I wasn’t in any of those guilds, so I never once cared who controlled those towns. I wouldn’t care if that was added to GW2, either.
You do know this is a game, right? Not reality?
Could it be your graphics settings? Low-high-whatever?
Not everyone has played BDO, so you have to explain what you are proposing. From the responses, it sounds like PvP on PvE maps, which gets my No vote. But if it is something else, you must make that clear.
I’m not seeing any glow. You can always do a makeover into a darker-skinned version if it bothers you.
If you would all just move to Arizona, you wouldn’t have to worry about such things. My resets never change.
They would have to ADD things to the chests and then retroactively reward those who have already reached those achievements. Otherwise, if they removed/swapped items, they would have to, what, ask players to give back the rewards they already received?
I don’t see either happening, but would be pleasantly surprised if there was a change. But personally, I’m okay with the current rewards.
Posting some ideas for what you would like to see would be beneficial. Otherwise, what’s Anet to do?
I have to add my vote for “horrible ideas.” How is that even remotely fun?
I played Sunday morning, then late afternoon until 9:00 PM. NA server, Arizona, no trouble.
Don’t the LS maps count as expansion content? After all, you can’t play them without HoT, right? So right now there are 8 HoT maps by my reckoning.
Actually, the price has dropped somewhat. I don’t get close to 1g/coin any more. More like 5g/6 coins.
I’m sitting on 500 and selling any I get on my 5 accounts, so you are generalizing. People are selling them and people are buying them. I see an expensive component of expensive items. I see no issue here.
Edit: This should get merged soon, but otherwise, google it, often discussed here.
@Heraldusluminare.2946 — You do know that you can “deposit all” materials at any time from your inventory?
Going back to the origin of this thread, I think what the OP is really asking for is a new place out in the world to make a “home instance.” Anet needs to keep control of what we now have as Home, since story happens there.
If there was a place in each starter zone that could be instanced, that would give room for farm fields, perhaps a small lake, etc., which sounds more like what the OP is hoping for. Just like the Homes now, each could have a flavor relative to each race, but initially empty and ready for the player to mold as desired.
Then, any character on your account could use and interact with it, rather than human-in-human, charr-in-charr, etc.
To me, it still doesn’t seem worth the effort.
I’m okay with duels so long as they remain where they belong: PvP.
When I run across two people duking it out in WvW I’m always hesitant to help, unsure if they are dueling or just roaming. So some place special for dueling would be good. Also, getting them out of WvW standardizes equipment.
Inculpatus cedo has a good point. So my human characters could enjoy their new home, but my asura would never ever see it? Lame. Or, worse I’d think, I would have to decorate each race’s home instance? Double lame?
So then Anet will have to balance for sPvP, WvW, Raids, and 1v1? Cuz you know people will be crying that Rock beats me every time!
What, you’ve never heard of a bubble suit?
I typically go longbow with a melee set or axes to swap to when desired. Cats are good core pets. Core PvE isn’t generally so hard or unforgiving that you have to choose such things now. Try out the various weapons and unlock traits and utility skills that sound fun. When you hit level 80 you will have them all unlocked, so there is no “messing up” when it comes to what you choose.
Then when you hit 80, hopefully you will have an idea of what works for you so you can apply runes to armor and sigils to weapons that synergize with your skills and traits. Lots of info on the wiki on that.
Also, GW awards birthday gifts based on character creation date. So if you play a Ranger a while, then want to try something new, don’t delete the Ranger. Use those five slots to try different professions. I have 26 slots on my main account + 4 other accounts, so try out lotsa builds.
Of course, you can mix things up on a single profession by changing weapons, like going strictly melee with Ranger. Easy to do while leveling up, but can get expensive with level 80 gear for newer accounts.
I’ve always viewed FTP GW2 as a trial edition, what with all the limitations it comes with. Open up the game so it can be (mostly) experienced so a potential customer will buy it. Makes sense to me.
Ranger & necromancer, sure. I’d toss Guardian and Warrior in there too. Really, Any profession works. But I have to disagree on solo Mesmer. IMO, it is a lot more work to clear zones with Mesmer. Not that you can’t, I just don’t enjoy it as much as the other classes. I really like the clone aspect of Mesmer, but general PvE play makes them hard to use.
For me, Revenant and Mesmer rank last, Guardian and Thief first.
“Empty world” — Join an active guild(s). The chat will be more relevant to you anyway. Are you chatting or asking questions in /map chat? Sometimes all it takes is someone to initiate.
“Dying game” — Very subjective. I see people everywhere I go, despite the gloom & doom here on the forum. Again, joining some guilds may help.
“Professions” — I assume you mean crafting. If you aren’t one for experimenting, then look on the wiki (/wiki in game) and google “gw2 crafting” for guides to max crafting. The wiki does list recipes, so if you know what you want you can look it up and get all the ingredients and/or subassemblies.
It’s funny that google|microsoft|whoever sees my browsing habits so I get GW2 ads when I already have five accounts.
Are you RPing with more than five people at a time? Making a team doesn’t work? That’s what my guildies and I did when we were RPing. Maybe a squad is worth the investment?
We never had any difficulty RPing within the game’s limitations. Just because we were in a bar but couldn’t actually bring a mug to our mouth in no way lessened the experience. Maybe that’s because most of us harkened back to the pen/paper days? I dunno. I don’t see much of an issue.
If you want hard mode, stash your gear in a safe box and equip whites. I’d think that would be as close as you could get. After all, the concept of mega servers and joined WvW worlds is to get people playing together, not spread out even more.
I have both an asura male and human female (aka, meta) thief. I vote human female.
I like the way asura leap around and almost trip over their own feet when running. On the other hand, I don’t like how tiny their gear becomes.
Compared to my human male medium armor toons, I much prefer the styles available to females. More straight pants and tops options, instead of trenchcoats.
I think I have 7 tickets, but wouldn’t spend 5 on a chaos skin. I keep saving them, waiting for something that makes me go ooh ahh, and… well, I keep saving them…
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you could pretty much craft to 80 if you were to abandon disciplines and do all of them. It seems like I’ve gotten about 10 levels out of one discipline, like chef, which is convenient to have on multiple toons.
I’m not advocating that it’s a good thing to do, but if it is something you enjoy… sure.
Which patch notes? I don’t see any such change for today.
To pass the time in Guild Wars, I play the game. When I get tired of playing the game, I do something else. I don’t want it to be work, like having to farm a field, weed it, water it, I just want to go in and swing my sickle and deposit my veggies.
If they add fishing, I hope it’s the same: walk up to the fishing hole, toss a line, drag in a fish, move on. But why they would add that when they already have 3 types of gathering is beyond me. Then I gotta buy more gathering tools, or another permanent one. Yay.
“Nothing feels good nor realistic” because this is a fantasy game, meant to be fun. If you want realism there are other games out there, please leave it out of GW.
OP, you keep saying “detail” but all I hear are different variations of “I want fishing and housing and farming.” I don’t see how that is “detail.” Sounds like just more work: now I gotta hunt deer, catch fish, and farm my fields if I want to advance my character, in addition to collecting zone currency, WvW tokens, and leather (or whatever).
How is any of this needed? How does it enhance my GW playing experience?
GW2 is an active-participant game, so therefore your farm in your home instance only grows while you are in the home instance, and only as well as the care you take of it.
Sounds… stimulating.
